Who Injected Mr. Xu Dawei with Harmful Drugs?

July 30, 2010 |   By Danchen

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Xu Dawei from Qingyuan County, Fushun, Liaoning Province, was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in 2001, simply for holding a belief in Falun Gong. He spent those years in four prisons: Dabei Prison in Shenyang, Lingyuan No. 1 Prison, Fushun No. 2 Prison and Dongling Prison in Shenyang. He suffered many cruel tortures. He was shackled, brutally beaten, hung up in the air, force-fed, beaten with a rubber hose, pierced with needles and electrically shocked. He was most severely tortured between late 2007 and February 2009. Mr. Xu Dawei was released on February 3, 2009, after suffering a mental collapse. His emaciated, skeleton-like body was covered with bruises and injuries.

After he got home he squatted in the corner and didn't dare to move. His family told him, "We are at home now. Don't be afraid." With much effort they managed to persuade him to sit on the bed. They noticed that Dawei was unable to eat. He constantly coughed and was so weak that he didn't even have the strength to cough up phlegm. With his family's great care, Dawei occasionally became clear-headed and said things like, "Dongling Prison is very evil. They injected me with harmful drugs that led to a mental collapse. They forced me to take drugs and beat me and kicked me hard. They handcuffed me in a corner and beat me unconscious many times. I was often subjected to 'strict control' and was locked up in a dark room."

His body showed many marks from electric shocks. His hands and feet showed signs of edema, and there were scars on his right knee and ankles. The black and purple-looking skin on his buttocks had become necrotic. His family took him to a hospital, but the doctor said, "He is dying. He had heart failure. We could not even draw his blood for tests, as his skin has become stiff and lifeless. Such a condition could not have resulted from just a few days of mistreatment. He has long passed the stage for any effective treatment." Xu Dawei died on February 16, 2009, thirteen days after he got back home. He was only 36 years old.

376 villagers from five villages signed a petition to the local government stating that such a good person should not have been imprisoned and allowed to die as a result of being persecuted. They hoped that the government would hold those responsible accountable for Mr. Xu's death. (see "Fellow Villagers Sign Petition Seeking Justice for Xu Dawei, Who Died as a Result of Persecution")

Local government officials were panic-stricken, especially after news of the petition was published on the Internet. They immediately investigated and suppressed those involved.

Under the current circumstances, the communist regime brutally suppresses Falun Gong, so it is unlikely that officials would investigate Xu Dawei's case. However,

despite suppression and attempts to block the news, voices of justice will prevail. We shall probe into the case and learn the identities of the culprits that injected Xu Dawei with harmful drugs. We hereby advise those responsible that their identities and their atrocities will be exposed sooner or later.

Xu Dawei was detained in four prisons. Why? The most likely explanation is that attempts to reform Xu Dawei kept failing because he was so firm in his belief, so they kept transferring him to prisons with greater "success" in Falun Gong "reformation." In other words, they had to transfer him to a prison where officials are the most unscrupulous in the persecution of Falun Gong. What happened to Xu Dawei is evidence of such practices.

It is not hard to imagine the abuse Xu Dawei sustained in the Dongling Prison. He was perfectly normal at the beginning of 2008 when he was allowed a visit from his family. When a guard took his daughter to him, he happily picked her up and told her to listen to her mother and grandparents. However, when he was released a year later he was emaciated; his body was covered with cuts and bruises; he had suffered a mental collapse, and his internal organs had become dysfunctional. He sustained all this within one year.

There is a serious issue here. Why would the guards inject him with harmful drugs? On the one hand they could have done it out of hatred - a common sentiment shared by the evildoing police. They hold extreme hatred for Falun Gong practitioners that they are unable to "reform," and such hatred may encourage them to do something that would drive these practitioners to the brink of death.

On the other hand the guards are worried that Falun Gong practitioners will expose the atrocities they have committed after their release. This is perhaps what they fear the most, and why they will do anything, at any cost, to cover up their crimes.

At the same time, the prison guards do not want to see people die in prison, because it would be even more difficult to deal with. It would expose their inhumane treatment of Falun Gong. It would encourage victims' families to take legal action, and the guards would face public condemnation.

So, the only way to achieve the purpose of silencing the victims without having them die in prison is to disable them prior to their release. They need to make sure that the victim is muddle-headed upon release so that they cannot expose the evil torments they suffered in prison. These ulterior motives are the fundamental reason why Xu Dawei was injected with harmful drugs.

Here are more facts in this case:

According to the Clearwisdom report, "Practitioner Mr. Xu Dawei Died as a Result of Gross Abuse from Persecution--Dongling Prison Officials Shirk Responsibility and Intimidate His Family", Xu Dawei's wife, his younger brother and other relatives went to Dongling Prison in Shenyang, demanding an explanation for the abuse to which Xu Dawei was subjected, and asked for those responsible to be held accountable for their crimes.

Guo Baoyuan, head of Ward 3, and Wu Baoquan, Ward 3 division head, met with them. Both refused to give their names and positions. Guo Baoquan was wearing a work card on his chest, but when Xu Dawei's family members asked their names, he quickly concealed his work card with his jacket. They were speechless when questioned by Xu Dawei's family members.

On March 4, 2009 Xu Dawei's father, his wife, his younger brother and other relatives went to Dongling Prison again. Guo Baoyuan, Wu Baoquan and another middle-aged police officer who claimed to be "representing Dongling Prison" (police No: 2112094) took them into the office building. When questioned and shown photos of Xu Dawei showing signs of gross abuse and mistreatment, the three prison officers tried every way to deny their crimes. At one point, one of them said, "Everything was normal with Xu Dawei when he was here. There was nothing wrong with him. There was no reason for him to seek treatment." At another time one of them said something contradictory, such as, "If we didn't take him to to hospital for injections, we would be in much trouble if he died here." Then one of the officers said, "Xu Dawei had a mental problem for a while," and "He had a mental collapse because he was too excited about going home."

Their final comment was, "Sue us anywhere, as you wish."

The contradictory remarks suggest that they knew about the injections, though of course they claimed they were to treat his illness. The remark that Xu Dawei had a mental collapse because he was too excited about going home is shameless. Their admission that Xu Dawei had a mental problem for a while suggests they knew very well of the whole process.

They were the ones who abused and mistreated Xu Dawei, so how could they not have known? Otherwise, why were they afraid of revealing their names? Why did they try to conceal their identities? We are not sure if the one who claimed to be "representing Dongling Prison" was involved, but it appears likely that Guo Baoyuan and Wu Baoquan were personally involved. They could not likely have avoided participating in Xu Dawei's miseries, as they both hold responsible positions in Ward 3. Guo Baoyuan is likely to be the chieftain who ordered the harmful injections, as he was in the position to do so.

In recent times, the persecutors of Falun Gong practitioners have become more and more isolated. More and more people have learned the truth about the cruel persecution. Inmates and police officers who out of ignorance used to participate in the persecution of Falun Gong now step forward and try to do good deeds to atone for their past crimes. As for those who still do whatever the CCP tells them to in persecuting Falun Gong, what kind of a fate is in store for them? Isn't there a law in this universe that good is rewarded with good, but evil is met with evil?

There are many cases like Xu Dawei's. All those taking part in the persecution will be exposed in the end.
