Mr. Zheng Qiuchen, Chairman of the Pan-national Union of Judicial Reform, remarked, "Falun Gong practitioners cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. They have not only obtained improved health, but also have high moral standards. We strongly support the signature collection drive. Through collecting one million signatures, we hope that the persecution will be ended, and true peace will prevail."

Mr. Ren Xianzhun, Chairman of the Federation of Democratic Members of the Public, emphasized that the signature collection drive will be a heavy blow to the Chinese Communist Party.

He said, "The CCP's persecution of Falun Gong has lasted for eleven years. Its severity is beyond people's imagination, especially the crimes of harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. We are indignant and also feel our responsibility. If human rights groups around the world stand up to condemn the CCP's atrocities, there would have not been so many innocent Falun Gong practitioners who have lost their lives." Mr. Ren concluded, "We wholeheartedly support this event, and hope it will bear rich fruit."

Mr. Jin Haoyi, president of a public interest group, sent a supporting letter, stating, "The one million signatures collection drive is an important initial step to end the CCP's persecution. We strongly support the event. We appreciate Falun Gong practitioners' perseverance, and we hope you keep it up."

The host of the activity, the Korean Falun Dafa Association stressed in a statement, "It has become an irreversible trend to put an end to the persecution of Falun Gong, punish Jiang Zemin and his clique who are the chief culprits of the persecution, establish human justice, and restore Falun Gong's reputation in China. As the direct victims of the persecution, we have the responsibility and mission that the times have bestowed upon us. We therefore hold this global one million signatures collection drive to end the persecution."

The event organizer said that the global signature collection drive began on July 20 and will conclude on November 7, 2010. The signatures will be delivered to representatives of heads of state, including Chinese President Hu Jintao, who will be attending the G20 Summit in Seoul.

At the end of the rally, the participating groups delivered their statements to the Chinese Embassy in Korea.

Background

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a traditional Chinese spiritual discipline for mind and body. The practice involves slow, gentle movements and meditation. It is easy to learn, enjoyable to practice, and free of charge. Its principles are based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The practice began in China in 1992 and quickly spread by word of mouth throughout China and then beyond. Its beneficial effects in uplifting an individual's physical, mental, and spiritual health, not to mention its positive influence in the community and society as a whole, have been undeniable. In fact, Falun Gong is practiced by over 100 million people in 60 countries. The main works of Falun Gong are available in over 30 languages.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) launched a brutal persecution of Falun Gong. Since the start of the persecution, Falun Gong practitioners throughout the world have been constantly speaking out about the truth of Falun Gong and exposing the CCP's crimes in a tireless effort to end the persecution.
