(Clearwisdom.net) In 1991, I had a serious problem with my neck caused by a narrowing of the cervical canal. I had surgery that took seven and a half hours. After the surgery, I had to stay in bed with an IV for seven days, and for three months after that, I was in a body cast from my head down to my chest. I could not get up on my own and needed help. The results of the surgery were not too good and I had a protrusion of the inter-vertebral disc and fused vertebrae. I had to be hospitalized several times because of these problems. I couldn't go back to work for more than two years. Unfortunately, when I did finally go back to work, it only took a little time before I was sick again.
Just as I was losing all hope, one person who had attended Teacher's Fa lectures recommended that I try Falun Gong. She loaned me a copy of the book China Falun Gong and a tape recording of Teacher's lectures. She also told me that Teacher had accepted an invitation by the Dalian Qigong Association to come and teach the Fa and exercises in Dalian City. She also recommended that I attend the class. According to what she said, my husband and I immediately began reading the book and listening to the tape. We felt that what Teacher said was so good that we dismissed the idea of asking Teacher to heal me, and we decided to attend the lecture.
March 27, 1994, Teacher's first day of the class in Dalian City, was the most memorable day of my life. My husband carried me on his back downstairs from our third floor apartment and we took the bus to the conference hall. When we got there, he carried me inside and helped me sit in the front row in a reclining chair that we had brought with us. While I was sitting there, wearing a long coat and a scarf and covered by a blanket, looking like nothing else but a very sick person, workers and responsible personnel from the Dalian Qigong Association came to check on me. They advised that we should not attend the lecture because Falun Gong isn't for healing illness, so a person with serious sickness should not be admitted.
Upon hearing that, my husband and I were very worried and nervous. My husband went to look for Teacher so he could explain the situation. He said, "We aren't here for healing illness. We started reading your book and listening to your tape recordings about two weeks ago and we're here to learn Falun Gong." Teacher said, "I'll go take a look. This practitioner has some good enlightenment quality." (Note: Falun Dafa is a cultivation practice of Buddha Law, which is able to purify a practitioner's body and mind and eliminate all kinds of illnesses as long as Dafa practitioners cultivate their minds and do as required based on Dafa's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. But, Dafa isn't for curing people who are not practitioners.)
When Teacher came to where I was, I stood up immediately, but Teacher asked me to sit down. He touched me twice on the neck and on the top of my head, and he did something to my shoulders and arms. Then he asked me to stand up and walk. When I got to the center of the floor in front of the stage he told me to stop. Teacher purified my legs and then told me to try to take a walk. So, I did two circles in front of the stage as many practitioners stood up and applauded. When I returned to my seat, a few practitioners from Beijing who were sitting behind me said, "You're so fortunate. We've been attending Teacher's Fa-Teaching classes many times. This is the first time we've seen Teacher do this." I said, "Absolutely, I didn't expect this at all. I'm so fortunate."
While practicing the Falun Gong exercise after he finished lecturing, Teacher asked me in a friendly tone, "Does your neck move well, like it's been lubricated?" I said, "Yes."
After finishing the class, my husband wanted to carry me on his back. I said, "I'll try to walk by myself." As I tried, I found my legs light and quick and I walked through the conference hall and onto the bus. When we got home, my husband wanted to carry me upstairs, but I said, "No, I'll do it myself." I finished walking to the third floor. I couldn't believe that such a wonderful miracle had taken place in my own body.
After listening to Teacher's lectures, learning the Falun Gong exercises, and experiencing Teacher's magical and supernatural Falun Dafa, I was determined to forever follow Teacher and cultivate Dafa. To thank Teacher for saving my life, we ordered a silk banner embroidered with the words "Falun Gong, the treasure of science" which was presented to Teacher when the class ended.
