Overview of CCP's Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners Using Drugs and Medical Facilities

March 15, 2010 |

(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese government has carried out the brutal persecution of Falun Gong since July 20, 1999. During the eleven years of persecution, millions of Falun Gong practitioners have been detained in forced labor camps, brainwashing centers, and prisons, or subjected to other forms of persecution. Data collected from eleven years of persecution reveals how the Chinese government has used medical facilities and mental hospitals to persecute practitioners. Doctors and nurses in the facilities have been forced to become accomplices of the persecution.

The Falun Gong Human Rights Working Group (FLGHRWG) has collected 1,089 cases of practitioners tortured in 200 medical facilities. These cases reveal the vast, extensive nature of the persecution.

International legal norms and ethics condemn the torture of political prisoners with neuronal toxic drugs. The former Soviet Union's practice of torture using nerve-damaging drugs and political persecution were exposed and became a major concern of the human rights community. This concern led to the withdrawal of the former Soviet Union from the World Psychiatric Association.

In the 13th Session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, FLGHRWG submitted the following case collections and brought these violations to the attention of the Special Rapporteur on Torture.
