(Clearwisdom.net) (By a correspondent from Shandong Province) The Qufu Criminal Court, along with the Prosecution Office of the Procuratorate and the Qufu Police Department's 610 Office sentenced Mr. Zhao Genfa to five years in prison on the afternoon of January 18, 2010. Mr. Zhao's family and defense attorney were not present in the courtroom. Insiders revealed that the Qufu City 610 Office and the Political and Judiciary Committee had controlled the entire process.

The Qufu Court held the first trial on December 29, 2009. The court did not inform Mr. Zhao's daughter, his older sister, or his younger brother so that they could attend the court proceedings. When Mr. Zhao's relatives learned the news and arrived at the courthouse, numerous police officers kept them outside the courtroom. The judge frequently interrupted the two attorneys and refused to listen to their legal defense, but he eventually had to remain silent. The prosecutor for the Qufu Procuratorate could not respond reasonably in light of the attorneys' strong defense.

After the trial, Mr. Zhao's wife, Ms. Qiao Huarong, went to the court and police department numerous times to demand her husband's release. Du Shanhong from the police department's 610 Office reluctantly returned Mr. Zhao's ID card to his wife. The Prosecution Office head affirmed that Mr. Zhao would be sentenced. The judge of the criminal court said, "We affirm that you have to return home and wait for the news. It is also the decision from above. We cannot make the decision." Mr. Zhao was eventually sentenced to five years in prison.
