(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Huo Xiuqin was arrested and sentenced to three years in prison because she was seen talking to people about Falun Gong. She was detained in the 4th Team, No. 10 Ward at Liaoning Women’s Prison. When Ms. Huo was initially sent there from the detention center, they refused to accept her because her health was extremely poor. Wang Zhonghong, the new head of Fuxin Detention Center at the time, used his connections to get her accepted into the prison.

Ms. Huo was verbally abused and beaten by the inmates and guards at the prison. She was denied use of the toilet, and not allowed to buy food and other essentials. Her family sent money to the prison for her to use, but it was embezzled by the prison authorities. Those who offered her food were physically abused and punished. In July 2009, Ms. Huo’s blood pressure became very high and she had to be supported while walking. The prison authorities did not release her to receive medical treatment, and even forced her family to defame Falun Gong or they would not be allowed to see her.

According to witnesses, Ms. Huo was left in the freezing cold of an open hallway in the winter. Her feet became swollen from frostbite.

At about 4 a.m. on November 1, 2010, she had difficulty moving and was sent to the Shenyang 739 Hospital. The results of her medical examination revealed that she had a serious heart problem, lacked oxygen to the brain and had high blood pressure. The prison officials allowed her family to pay for her medical treatment, but when her family started to run out of money, they wanted to bring her back home to take care of her. However, the prison officials wouldn’t release her until they received more money from the family.

Four guards were sent to Ms. Huo's home to monitor Ms. Huo and her family. They would not allow anyone to visit them. The guards refused to disclose their names and tried to intimidate the family. In the afternoon of November 3, over ten people were sent from the prison to forcibly take Ms. Huo back to the prison hospital.

An Rui, head of the No. 10 Ward, who had persecuted Ms. Huo, ordered inmates Wang Jingyan, Shen Xiaoli and Zhang Baozhen to torture Ms. Lou Caihua from Lingyuan City. The inmates ripped Ms. Lou’s bed sheets and tied her in a strenuous position to a heater. They then jammed a dirty rag into her mouth. Ms. Lou was left there for 20 days, and was not allowed to sleep or go to the toilet. She was only allowed a bit of porridge to eat in the morning.

Those who participated in the persecution of Huo Xiuqin include: Cui Jie, Dai Jing, Wu Yaxu, Meng Xiangyu, Wu Xiaorui, Li Yunguo, prison inmate Qin Li, and collaborator Zhao Lijie.
