Netherlands: Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong in China (Photos)

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 10, 2010, International Human Rights Day, Falun Dafa practitioners held a series of activities in front of the Second Chamber of Parliament in the Hague. Their presence raised awareness of practitioners' peaceful protests of the persecution of Falun Gong in China over the past more than ten years. They also called on the Netherlands government to help stop the persecution.

In front of the Second Chamber of the Parliament in Hague, Falun Gong practitioners expose the persecution of Falun Gong in China.

The practitioners hung a large banner between two trees. The banner had information on how Falun Dafa is practiced by millions of people around the world and how practitioners in China have suffered illegal persecution. Many government workers and passersby stopped to read the banner. The practitioners demonstrated the exercises to the peaceful exercise music. A group of high school students were attracted to the demonstration and asked to learn the exercises. Before they left, they thanked the practitioners and expressed their support for Falun Gong. A reporter captured the moment.

Among the practitioners at the event were several from China who suffered persecution in China. They had been detained, held in forced labor camps, illegally sentenced to prison, removed from their jobs, forced to divorce, and some were tortured. Now overseas, they exposed the persecution in China based on their personal experience. They asked people to stand up against the persecution and help stop it.

A Chinese shop owner who understood the human rights situation in China asked the practitioners for a lot of informational fliers. He planned to put the fliers in the newspapers he sold so that every Chinese person in The Hague would know how the CCP has persecuted Falun Gong.

A Dutch man read the information on the banner and shook his head. He said that he had not known that such a brutal persecution existed in China. He asked the practitioners for more details and said that he would continue to pay attention to Falun Gong’s situation.

Most of the members of Parliament and government workers already know the facts of the persecution of Falun Gong in China because of the practitioners’ persistent efforts in clarifying the facts to them. Even the patrolling officers around the Chambers of the Parliament know about the persecution. They gave practitioners the thumbs up and said, “We wish you success!”

The United Nations passed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1948. Since then, Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on December 10. The UN drafted the “International Covenant on Economics, Social and Cultural Rights” and the “International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights” in 1966. The purpose of drafting the two treaties was to further expound and implement the spirit of the Universal Declaration. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights with its two Optional Protocols and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights are called the International Bill of Human Rights, the most important regulation of human rights in the international community.
