(Clearwisdom.net) Schenectady, one of the three cities in the Capital Region of New York, will host a Shen Yun show for the first time on January 11, 2011. Mayor Brian Stratton issued a proclamation designating that day as Shen Yun Performing Arts Day in the city and wishing the show success. Mayor Gerald Jennings of the neighboring city of Albany sent a congratulatory letter for the event. Below are the proclamation and congratulatory letter.

WHEREAS, The Pure Heart Culture and Education Foundation (PHCEF) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation and promotion of traditional Chinese culture, ethics and art. Through hosting performing arts shows, art exhibits, and other events, PHCEF seeks to promote multiculturalism in the communities and an appreciation of traditional arts;

WHEREAS, PHCEF is proud to bring Shen Yun performing arts to Schenectady for the first time on January 19, 2011. The show includes ethnic dances, folk tales, traditional Chinese legends and modern talks of courage. Shen Yun's orchestra includes both traditional Western and classical Chinese instruments;

WHEREAS, Shen Yun Performing Arts was established in 2006 by a group of artists trained in classical Chinese dance and music. Shen Yun, which is based in New York, is now a world renowned performing arts company that presents shows on traditional Chinese culture, (that which has not been seen since the communist takeover of China)

WHEREAS, In 2010 alone, Shen Yun performed on four continents, bringing tales spanning five millennia of Chinese music, dance, and folklore to nearly 130 cities, creating a visually stunning experience of pure grandeur and beauty in front of over a million people.

Now, Therefore, I, Brian U. Stratton, Mayor of the City of Schenectady, do hereby proclaim January 19, 2011 as Shen Yun Performing Arts Day in the City of Schenectady, wish them a wonderful run of shows and thank PHCEF for bringing this wonderful event to our city.
