1. Mr. Chu Sichun

Mr. Chu Sichun started practicing Falun Gong in 1995. He had gone to the provincial government on July 20, 1999 to appeal for Falun Gong, requesting the government to release the jailed Falun Gong practitioners. On July 21, 1999, policemen searched his house and stole some of his belongings in his absence. When he returned, policeman Gan Wenchao took him to a detention center where he was jailed for eight days. He was charged with "spreading lies and ruining the social order."

On March 16, 2001, police department agents and those from the 610 Office in Yingcheng City, arrested 29 Falun Gong practitioners, including Mr. Chu. They were transferred to a brainwashing center where the persecutors attempted to force them to give up their belief. The methods they applied were mental torment and brainwashing. Mr. Chu was held for two months until the brainwashing center was dismissed.

In October 2001 Mr. Chu was taken to a local police station where police officers Zhan Xuehua and Yang Yingwei interrogated him and beat him badly, resulting in him losing hearing in his left ear. Yang Yingwei beat him from 4 to 8 p.m.

In March 2002, Mr. Chu was arrested. Participating in the arrest were Chen Chunyao, deputy Party secretary in Langjun Town, and Peng Zhongyong, one of Chu's co-workers, and two officers from the Langjun Police Station - Liu Mingfang and Feng Xiaofei. They held Mr. Chu at the Changjiang Police Station. Liu Mingfang and Pei Danping from the station interrogated him. They could not get any answers from him. At night, police officers Zhou Tao and Lian Youqing from Yingcheng City interrogated him. Mr. Chu refused to answer any questions so they beat him. Lian Youqing slapped him. Zhou Tao punched Mr. Chu his arms. They forced him to stand straight and kept him awake. The next morning, policeman Nie Yaoshan and some others from Xiaogan City arrived. They took him to the First Detention Center in Yingcheng where he was jailed for three months and then subjected him to two years of forced labor. Since he failed the physical exam, the labor camp refused to accept him. He was transferred to a detention center and released on August 7, 2002.

On July 2, 2008, before the Beijing Olympics, policemen led by He Jianshe searched Mr. Chu's house and stole some of his belongings. They took him away and held him at the Second Detention Center in Yingcheng for 13 days. On August 1, 2008, police from the 610 Office, from the Yingcheng Police Department, and from the Dongmafang Police Station arrested him and two other practitioners. On August 6, 2008 they falsified evidence and transported Mr. Chu to the Shayang Labor Camp in Hubei Province.

2. Mr. Xiang Hongxin

Mr. Xiang Hongxin, 40 years old, is an employee of the Shuanghuan Company in Hubei Province. On July 20, 1999, Domestic Security Team agents in Yingcheng named Nie Yaoshan, Yang Yingwei and officers from the Xinji Police Station including He Zhongping, searched Xiang Hongxin's house. They took him to the Dongmafang Police Station. Yang Yingwei interrogated Mr. Xiang. The next morning they took Mr. Xiang to the Second Detention Center in Yingcheng, where he was jailed for 15 days, and forced to pay 200 yuan. After that, his company demoted him and lowered his salary by 100 yuan.

On September 30, 1999 agent He Zhongping ordered Xiang Hongxin to go the police station where officials ordered him to give up Falun Gong. Mr. Xiang refused. He was jailed for 15 days and had to pay 200 yuan.

Police officer Ynag Yingwei transferred him to the to the Xiaogan Labor Camp. While there, guards Guo Zhi Yong and Sun cursed Mr. Xiang, beat him with a stick and burned one of his toes with a lighter. The toe was swollen and infected for several months.

In November 2001, when Mr. Xiang was sharing experience with a fellow practitioner, he was arrested and locked up at Shuanghuan Hotel, where policeman Zhou Tao kicked his head, and Liu Qiang from Yuanxinji Police Station struck his head with an iron rod, causing his head to bleed. After that, Mr. Xiang was jailed at the First Detention Center in Yingcheng. He went on a hunger strike for 28 days. He was released when he was very weak and dying.

On April 11, 2002, policeman Xu Zibing from the Shuanghuan Company police station and Yu Xingming, an official from the Shuanghuan Company, took Mr. Xiang to a brainwashing center in Hubei Province. Mr. Xiang was released on May 8.

On August 1, 2008, policemen from the 610 Office in Yingcheng, Domestic Security Team, Dongmafang Police Station (policemen Xu Zibing and Chu Hongbo) from the Shuanghuan Company arrested Xiang Hongxin and other two practitioners. Five days later, they were sent to Shayang Labor Camp.

3. Mr. Yan Sanming

Mr. Yan Sanming, in his 50s, was a worker at the 728 Chemical Product Company in Hubei Province. On June 15, 2001, policemen from Dongmafang Police Station took Yan Sanming to Shuanghuan Hotel, where they interrogated him. Mr. Yan refused to answer them. Policeman Zhu Jidong burned Mr. Yan's eyebrow with a cigarette. Zhu Jidong and two other policemen, He Jianshe and Jing Bing, slapped his face more than 100 times. They beat Yan's abdomen and buttocks with sticks. That night they sent Mr. Yan to the First Detention Center. In the detention center, head Tang Zhuqing tried to stop him from doing the exercises and beat him. Since Mr. Yan refused to treat himself as criminal, guard Song Jiang forced him to stand straight up. He started a hunger strike to protest the torture. Five days later, he was released.

Fifteen days later, the officials from the 610 Office and court in Yingcheng arrested Yan Sanming in his house. Guards locked him with criminals at the detention center. Detention center head Tang Zhuqing slapped Mr. Yan and kicked him. Mr. Yan was very weak and there was blood in his urine. That night, the guards took him to the hospital, where he passed out and was kept locked up. Two days later, he was released.

To avoid further harassment from the police, Mr. Yan went to stay with relatives. Zhang Jianjun, the security person from Mr. Yan's workplace, took Mr. Yan's wife and son to a detention center to interrogate them, and demanded to know where Mr. Yan was. Mr. Yan didn't want his family members to suffer, so he returned to his home. One month later, a dozen policemen arrested him at his home and sent him to Fanjiatai Prison in Shayang, Hubei Province.

On July 2, 2008, Wu Xiaodang and Lu Shanhua, the heads of the Police Department in Yingcheng, led thirty policemen from different stations to the Dongmafang area. They divided into 3-person groups and there was a locksmith in each group, whose job was to break into Falun Gong practitioners' homes. They searched for Falun Gong practitioners. When they was arresting Mr. Yan, they fiercely stomped on his left foot and made it bleed.

On August 1, 2008, policemen from the 610 Office, Police Department and other police stations, including Dongmafang station, arrested three practitioners, including Mr. Yan Sanming. Five days later, they were sent to Shayang Labor Camp.

On August 6, 2008, Yan Sanming, Xiang Hongxin and Chu Sichun were sentenced to one year of forced labor and sent to Shayang Labor Camp.

4. Chen Desheng

Mr. Chen Desheng, in his 60s, was a businessman in Guchengtai, Yingcheng City. He started practicing Falun Gong in May 1996.

On July 22, 1999, policemen searched Mr. Chen's house and took him to the Second Detention Center and jailed him for 14 days. He was forced to pay 165 yuan for the food. Zhou Tao, Nie Yaoshan and Xu Guohua were the policemen in charge of this case. He was ordered to register every day after he was released.

On December 29, 2000, policemen Wang Xinhua from Chengzhong Station took Mr. Chen to the First Detention Center in Yingcheng, and jailed him until June 29, 2001. His family was not allowed to visit him. Chen Desheng was badly tortured at the detention center. He became very weak and had blood in his stool for 20 days. The detention center forced him to pay 2500 yuan. The chief of the center, Tang Zhuqing, pocketed 500 yuan of this extortion money. The persecution of Mr. Chen severely damaged his business.

On August 18, 2001, policemen from Chengzhong Station arrested Mr. Chen in his store and jailed him for 18 days. They forced him to pay 200 yuan. Policemen also stole Mr. Chen's ID card and house ownership certificate.

In November 2002, policemen from Chengzhong Station took Mr. Chen to a brainwashing center and jailed him for 12 days.

On January 11, 2003, policemen tried to arrest him again, but he escaped. He then became homeless.

On November 26, 2003, Chen Desheng was arrested by policemen from Anlu City, Hubei Province while he was informing people about the persecution of Falun Gong. He was jailed for three days. Tang, the chief of the domestic security team in Anlu City ordered policemen to torture him so as to force him to tell his name and home address. They forced him to kneel down and pulled his hair, and hit his knees and heels with a stick. Since he refused to kneel down, they stepped on his feet, and tied him up and slapped his face. He vomited blood. The policemen mocked him, saying, "vomiting blood is nothing. We will make you urinate blood." They assigned ten people to watch him, forcing him stay awake. On November 29, he was sent to a detention center, where the center head, Liu, kicked him.

On December 2, 2003, policemen searched Chen Desheng's house, and forced his wife to write a "guarantee statement" for him. Chen Desheng was jailed in the detention center for 48 days, and then unjustly sentenced to one year of forced labor. Since the labor camp refused to take him, he was released on January 13, 2004. The detention center forced him to pay 200 yuan. While at the detention center, he was badly tortured. He witnessed guard Yue torturing practitioners. Yue once force-fed a practitioner. He inserted pliers into a practitioner's mouth, and pulled a piece of flesh out.

On July 23, 2008, policemen from Yingcheng City Domestic Security Team and Chengzhong Station searched many practitioners' houses.

In Chen Desheng's house, they stole some of his belongings. They jailed him at the Second Detention Center in Yingcheng. Fifteen days later, on August 7, 2008, they took him to the First Detention Center, where he was jailed for 70 days and badly tortured. Since he was very weak and dying, they released him. But twenty days later, as policemen tried to arrest him again, he escaped and became homeless.
