(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Song Bing, 37, graduated from the Changchun Postal Institute, majoring in stored program control switching. She worked for a privately-owned computer company after college, and she was later employed by the Shulan City Telecommunications Company. She had suffered from a bone marrow disease and underwent a serious operation which almost took her life or caused her to become permanently disabled. She began practicing Falun Gong in 1997, and all her ailments disappeared.

In September 1999, Ms. Song Bing and her older sister Ms. Song Yanqun were each sentenced to one year of forced labor, and their terms were extended. Ms. Song Bing's term was extended six months, and she was released in April 2001. Both sisters were very weak upon returning home and had lost their jobs; they were then both arrested again by the Shulan City police.

At around 7 p.m. on November 27, 2003, officer Guo Gang led a group to storm into Ms. Song Bing and her sister's home. They grabbed Ms. Song Bing's hair, twisted her arms backward, and gagged her. They sealed the sisters' mouths with tape, covered their heads with cloth, handcuffed them, and then carried them into a vehicle. Guo Wei conducted a body search at the Jiekuang Police Station in Shulan City, interrogated the sisters overnight in the Shulan City Police Department, and detained them in the Nanshan Detention Center.

The next afternoon, officers took the sisters to a place outside the detention center. Upon arrival, these officers fixed them onto chairs so that they could not move. They tried to threaten Ms. Song Bing into giving false statements. Li Jiazhe and two other men twisted her arms backward, one arm from the top of her shoulder, the other from her lower back, and then handcuffed them together. They tied a hand towel to the handcuffs and used one end to press her upper arm down, and the other to pull her lower arm up. Ms. Song Bing refused to talk to them. Then one officer held the towel while the other one prodded her ears and nose with a stick. They saw that this torture still would not make her speak, so they then grabbed a bottle of mustard oil extract. One officer stood behind her and pulled her head backward, while the other man covered her mouth with another towel. This forced her to breathe through her nose, and as soon as she did, they poured mustard oil into her nose.

The mustard oil got into her windpipe, which made her lungs feel an explosion of pain. These killers still pressed the bottle to the top of her nose, causing Ms. Song to cough and vomit violently, spraying mustard oil all over the place. They then pinched her nose and tried to pour mustard oil into her mouth. She naturally spit the old oil out, and the officers got the oil all over her face, which hurt her eyes. The officers took turns pouring more bottles of mustard oil into her mouth and nose, choking her many times until she nearly passed out.

The Procuratorate rejected the initial set of evidence provided by the police, but these officers fabricated more materials, which resulted in the two sisters being put on trial. The prosecuting statements were groundless. Ms. Song Bing exposed how Li Jiazhe had tortured her during the interrogation. However, these officers made up a statement about how they found 30,000 pieces of Falun Gong literature at Ms. Song's home, and had her sentenced to 14 years in prison and her older sister Ms. Song Yanqun to a 12-year term.

On May 25, 2004, Ms. Song Bing and her sister Ms. Song Yanqun were both taken to Tiebei Prison in Changchun City. Ms. Song Bing was found to have tuberculosis, and she was rejected by the prison. The detention center had her checked again in June 2004 and reported her condition to the court, and her case was dismissed. She should have been released at this point, but Shulan City Police Department Deputy Director Xin He refused to approve her release.

In July 2004, the detention center had her checked into the Jilin City Central Hospital. Her condition had seriously worsened, and the CT scan found a two-inch by three-inch hole in her lung. She was very weak and had a fever, cough, shortness of breath, no appetite, and partial heart failure. The police still did not allow her to go home. By the end of July, she was dying. Her parents requested her release many times, but the Shulan City Police Department Deputy Director Xin He said that he would lose his job if he agreed to release Ms. Song. The CCP Shulan City Political and Judiciary Committee Secretary Zhao Wei said that he was not allowed to talk about the law because he refused to follow it when it came to Falun Gong matters. The Shulan City 610 Office Chairman Li Pu said that he would rather be responsible for her life than for releasing Ms. Song.

On September 4, 2004, when she was close to death, Ms. Song was finally allowed to "serve her term outside the prison." Shulan City Detention Center Director Zhuang Runjiang extorted 3,000 yuan from her parents to secure her release. Upon returning home, Ms. Song gradually began studying the Fa and doing the Falun Gong exercises, and her condition became better. However, police were watching her closely, and they tried to arrest her as soon as she regained her health. Ms. Song had to leave her home to avoid being arrested.

Ms. Song's health never recovered, and she died on July 30, 2009.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Yang Wenqiang is from Huangzhai Town, Shangshui County, Henan Province. Due to financial difficulties in paying for his child's tuition, he went to Haicheng City, Liaoning Province, to make a living as a professional recycler. He lived in Daiqian Village, Wangshi Town, Haicheng City. On May 16, 2006, Mr. Yang went to Nantai Market to do his job. While clarifying the truth of the persecution of Falun Dafa in front of a school, he was reported by a teacher at the school. He was arrested by officers Li Qingzhu and Wang Zhiping from the Wangshi Police Station. After a 15-day detention, Mr. Yang was taken to Anshan Forced Labor Camp.

While he was in the detention center, the guards ordered other inmates to beat Mr. Yang and burn him with cigarettes. At the Anshan Forced Labor Camp, Mr. Yang was subjected to more inhumane torture. His family was notified to take him home around August 6, 2006, when he was on the verge of death after the labor camp medical personnel discovered he had blood clots from the torture.

When Mr. Yang's family members saw him, they noticed that from his hips to his ankles he was bruised to a black-purple color. He couldn't straighten up. He was hunchbacked and could barely walk. He could no longer recognize family members, and he had developed serious mental problems. The labor camp's Captain Ping extorted 600 yuan from the family, claiming it was a "transportation fee."

Afterwards, Mr. Yang had pains throughout his body every day and his mental state was unstable. Three months of treatment in a hospital did not improve his condition. When he was clear-minded, he said that Captain Ping took him to a place far away. He wasn't allowed to sleep, an object with sharp spikes was pulled across his skin, and he was beaten with wooden boards, leather belts, and a triangular belt with a lump on top. The guards told him that they were checking to see if he was sick and injected needles into him. A guard called Wang Yang beat him every day. On December 11, 2006, a mentally disordered Mr. Yang hanged himself.

Anshan Forced Labor Camp tortured many practitioners to disability and death. Some became mentally disordered from the torture.

Ms. Kou Xiaoping was a 40-year-old practitioner from Anshan City. In February 2001, she was arrested and taken to Anshan Forced Labor Camp. She was imprisoned in the strict-control ward and tortured physically and mentally. Even when she went to the bathroom, there would be people following and monitoring her. In February 2002, after over a year in the labor camp, she went on a hunger strike to resist the persecution. She was force-fed and developed sickness symptoms. She passed away in a matter of days.

Mr. Zhao Yulong, about 30, from Haicheng City was arrested and taken to Anshan Forced Labor Camp in 2000 after he clarified the truth about Falun Gong during his appeal. He became mentally unstable from the torture in the labor camp.

Ganwang Town practitioner Mr. Zhou Huisheng was tortured in Anshan Forced Labor Camp and had a cerebral hemorrhage. The labor camp authorities were afraid of being held responsible and released him. After Mr. Zhou's family members placed him in a hospital, the police continued to harass and threaten him. Mr. Zhou passed away in August 2006.

(Clearwisdom.net) On August 2008, police from the Harbin City Heilongjiang Province arrested Dafa practitioner Li Feng at her grocery shop. Her family hired a lawyer for her. The lawyer pleaded not guilty and presented convincing evidence of her innocence. However, the court sentenced her to nine years in prison.

Ms. Li Feng is forty-seven years old. Before she started to practice Falun Gong, she suffered from the severe prolapse of lumbar vertebrae. She was unable to look after herself. After she practiced Falun Gong, she recovered quickly and enjoyed good health. In December 2000 she went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was arrested on December 5, 2000 and detained for three months.

Because Li Feng refused to give up her belief in the Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Wang Liguo, Director of the National Security Division under the Nangang District Police Department, along with Zhou Songbin and Sun Bin, police political instructors, colluded with Liu Hui, Zhang Qiusheng and Wang Xiaodong, police political instructors from the Baojian Road Police Station, and entered Li Feng's grocery shop pretending they were going to buy something. They covered her head with cloth and handcuffed her. They searched her house and confiscated a laptop, a printer and photocopy paper. They also took 5200 yuan in bills, on which truth-clarifying messages were written and which the police recorded on a list. But another 7000 thousand cash disappeared and no policeman admitted that they took it, except that a policeman from the Nangong District Domestic Security Division admitted that he took 500 yuan cash. The remaining 6500 yuan is unaccounted for.

Director of the Nangong District Domestic Security Division Wang Liguo, along with Deputy Directors Huang Yaobin, Sun Binji and Shan Guochen repeatedly interrogated Li Feng, but could not extract the confession they were looking for. Later they had some people that Li Feng didn't know pose as witnesses and presented false evidence.

After she was detained at the Harbin City Second Detention Center for three months, Nangang District Court opened a session court session for Li Feng on November 26, 2008.

Li Feng's family hired lawyer Wei Liangyue to defend her. Lawyer Wei was a former director of the Jiaodian Law Firm in Heilongjiang Province. He was forced to resign because he submitted not-guilty pleas on behalf of Dafa practitioners. In the annual review in 2009, the Heilongjiang Judiciary Bureau directed by the 610 Office threatened that none of the lawyers of the law firm could register as lawyers if Wei did not resign from the director position.

Mr. Wei stated in the defense plea: "The concept of "evil cult" that Article 300 in the criminal law refers to is a legal concept. Falun Gong and evil cults are completely different terms and concepts. Falun Gong is not an evil cult as defined by Article 300 in the Criminal Law. The accusations against Defendant Li Feng also didn't fall into any categories defined in Article 300. Thus, Article 300 does not apply to her."

The defense lawyer also stated that the court should base any decision in claimed 'evil cult' cases on the only four explanations provided by the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Supreme People's Court and the Supreme People's Procuratorate. The above judicial explanations do not mention Falun Gong and do not identify Falun Gong as an evil cult.

So far, only one legal document defines "evil cult organizations," that is, the No. 39 file issued by the Ministry of Police in 2005. This file quoted the names of seven categories (altogether fourteen categories) of "evil cult organizations" issued by the CCP's Central Office and the General Office of the State Council, which didn't specify that Falun Gong is an "evil cult" either.

Dafa practitioner Li Feng described in the court how she benefited from practicing Falun Gong and said that it is not wrong to behave according to Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She said that she had not committed any crime.

Judge Cheng Shouchang of the Nangang District Court listened to the defense, kept silent for a while and then asked Wang Baolong, the chief Procurator from the Nangong District Procuratorate if he had anything more to say. Wang replied that he didn't have anything to say.

The Presiding Judge Yan Xiaoshuang from the Nangang District Court, Judge Cheng Shouchang, Juror Xu Zhao and Procurator Wang Baolong from the Nangang District Procuratorate knew that the arrest of Dafa practitioner Li Feng was without any legal grounds. Regardless of the facts, they still sentenced her to nine years in jail.

Li Feng's family filed an appeal to the Harbin Municipal Intermediate People's Court and hired Lawyer Wei Liangyue again as the defense lawyer. Judge Zhang Guanglan from the Harbin Municipal Intermediate People's Court met with Li Feng once and then rushed to a verdict for the second trial, which upheld the original decision.

On April 1, 2009, Li Feng was sent to the Heilongjiang Women's Prison.

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 14, 2009, the Shenyang City National Security Team arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yu Yang with the help of a special agent from the Tiexi National Security Team. Mr. Yu was imprisoned in the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center in the afternoon and was transferred to Shenyang Detention Center on July 29. It was later discovered that he went on a hunger strike to oppose the persecution and is now very weak.

After Yu Yang was arrested, his family had no information about his condition for over 10 days. His company was also very anxious about him, because the work he has been responsible for is at a standstill.

On July 14, 2009, Mr. Yu drove to his company. At around 11:00 a.m., after he finished a client meeting, he was arrested by the Shenyang National Security Team with the help of an agent from the Tiexi National Security Team, and he was taken to the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center.

After learning that he had disappeared, his family reported his absence to the local police station. The police told them that he had probably been arrested by the security bureau. For over ten 10 days, his family went daily to the Shenyang National Security Department and the Zhangshi Brainwashing Center to ask them to release him. The policemen in the brainwashing center said that he had been transferred there by the Shenyang National Security Team.

At 9:00 a.m. on July 29, the person in charge in the brainwashing center, whose last name is Feng, told his family that at 8:00 a.m. that morning, Yu Yang was picked up by a group of people from Shenyang National Security Team and somebody from the Tiexi National Security Team. He did not know where Mr. Yu was either, and said that Mr. Yu was handcuffed when he was taken away.

Yu Yang's family members went to the fourth floor of the building in which the National Security Team of the Tiexi region in Shenyang City was located. They were told by a staff member that their leaders were out for meetings and nobody could see them. His family then went to the Shenyang National Team. The receptionist called the team office, but was told that they had not arrested anybody and nobody had seen Yu Yang.

On July 29 of 2009, Shenyang Tiexi National Security Team told Yu Yang's family go to their office at 1:30 p.m., the following day, July 30.

On the afternoon of July 30 , his family went to the Shenyang Tiexi National Security Team office, as requested. The person who met them was Li Yi (male, in his 30s). He said, " We got the notice to arrest Li Yi on July 29 and to inform his family today." His families asked, "It has been 16 days since Yu Yang disappeared. Why were we informed so late?" Li Yi said, "This is a confidential action. We did not have the right to inform you." His family kept asking why this had happened. Li Yi said, "Yu Yang interfered with the implementation of the law." His family asked again, "Why is he being accused of 'interfering with the implementation of the law?' Which law did he interfere with?" Li Yi could not answer.

His family asked again how long he would be detained. The answer was, "Indefinitely."

His family wanted to take back Yu Yang's cell phone and laptop. Li Yi said that they could not be returned because they were needed for "further inspection."

Mr. Yu is currently imprisoned in the Shenyang Detention Center.

Mr. Yu Yang, 33 years old, is the sales manager for Shenyang City of Northeast China for Leeman Labs Inc. The cultivation of Falun Dafa made Yu Yang more kind and more honest, and he has received many awards for excellence at work.

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 27, 2009, Ms. Zhou Xuexia, a practitioner who resides in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province, was taken from her home by the police from Tienhe District, Guangzhou City. The police claimed that it was routine "official business." They told her family to sign an official document after searching through her house. Her family refused to comply. According to unofficial information, Ms. Zhou is being held in the Tienhe District Detention Center. The government agencies involved in the raid were the Tienhe District Security Office, the police station on Changxing Street in the Tienhe District, and the Xingke Community Resident Committee of the Guangzhou Nonferrous Metals Research Institute.

Ms. Zhou, 45 years old, is a respected teacher in Guangzhou City. She won second place in the national teaching thesis competition and also won the award for excellence in the Guangdong provincial competition for her writing about teaching. In an independent study exam, her students scored the highest in the school. She was also well respected by her colleagues and loved by her students.

Ms. Zhou's health was very poor before she became a Falun Dafa practitioner. Her throat would hurt whenever she ate. Her daughter died at a very young age from an illness. She learned the essence of being a good person after she began practicing Falun Gong. She was a diligent practitioner and did what was required as stated in the book Zhuan Falun. Her health gradually improved, and she gained weight, going from 77 pounds to 110 pounds. She was full of energy for life and work. She increased her teaching schedule from six classes to 28 classes and became a director. She held a high standard for herself and was well liked by her students, who praised her semester after semester.

The Communist Party police arrested and detained a teacher held in high regard because she explained the benefits of becoming a Falun Dafa practitioner. She only wanted everyone to be good.

(Clearwisdom.net) The truth of the staged Tiananmen Square "self-immolation" incident is now widely known, but some people still have a hard time believing that the event was wholly orchestrated by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) to defame Falun Gong. Yet, in December 2001, CCP police threatened to stage a similar "self-immolation" event involving Ms. Feng Qihua, a practitioner from Baiguo County, Macheng City, Hubei Province.

Below are some of the details surrounding her ordeal.

It was a cold, snowy, wintry day on December 15, 2001, when several policemen, led by officer Peng Honghui, forcibly entered Ms. Feng's home while she was preparing a meal. Without a search warrant, they ransacked her residence from top to bottom, leaving every room in total disarray.

After the police found a copy of Zhuan Falun and some truth-clarifying materials, they handcuffed Ms. Feng and took her to the local police station. The police also confiscated a deposit book with a balance of more than 30,000 yuan that Ms. Feng's husband had earned as a migrant worker.

Upon learning that a Falun Gong practitioner was arrested, Xu Shiqian, the secretary of the CCP Political Security Committee in Baiguo County, rushed to the police station. When he got there, he poured a cup of cold water over Ms. Feng's head and kicked off her winter shoes while cursing her.

With one hand he grabbed Ms. Feng's hair and with the other hand he punched her really hard. Another policeman brought in half a bucket full of ice cold water, forced Ms. Feng to take off her socks, then shoved her bare feet into the water.

Shocked by the icy cold water, Ms. Feng instinctively lifted her feet out of the bucket. When Xu saw this, he rushed over and smashed Ms. Feng's right toes with the tip of his heavy, leather shoes, causing her to almost faint from the excruciating pain. (When she examined her right foot later on, she discovered that her toes were all deformed and that her toenails were separated from the skin).

Officer Lu Shuguang pushed Ms. Feng to the ground then tramped on her chest with his boots, causing her unbearable pain. As a result, she found it very difficult to breathe and almost passed out. (Ms. Feng had recently injured one of her lungs, so she had to press her chest with her hand from time to time to alleviate the pain.)

Police officer Wang Wei walked over and kicked Ms. Feng then stepped on the handcuff secured to her right hand, causing blood to gush out. Wang did not take his foot off Ms. Fang's handcuff until she howled with pain.

One police officer fiercely exclaimed: "You must have heard about the "Tiananmen Square 'self-immolation,' right? Well… today you will experience a real 'self-immolation.' We've already moved the diesel oil to the courtyard where we will burn you alive!"

The police did not follow through on their threat but Lu Xing, the head of the local 610 Office, did manage to extort 7,000 yuan from Ms. Feng’s husband before she was released.

Unlike Ms. Feng, practitioner Ms. Wang Huajun experienced a completely different fate. In April 2001, after local Baiguo County officials beat Ms. Wang to near-death, they dragged her body to the front of the city government building, poured gasoline all over her, then burned her alive, claiming that she had "self-immolated."

(Clearwisdom.net) Today's News from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 28 cities or counties in 14 provinces. This report details 20 practitioners that were subjected to mistreatment during their detention and at least 28 practitioners that were illegally arrested.

On the afternoon of July 20, 2009, Mr. Guo Yongli and his wife Ms. Han Yanmin from the Taxation Bureau in Daonan City were arrested at their workplaces by officers from Baicheng City Police Station and Daonan City Tuanjie Police Station. Their homes were ransacked that same afternoon. Currently they are being detained at the Daonan City Detention Center.

At about 2 p.m., on July 22, 2009, practitioners Ms. Cao Mingfang and Ms. Jiang Minghui from Honggang District in Daqing City were shopping at the market. They were arrested there by plainclothes police officers and then detained at the police station. Police officers then ransacked Ms. Cao's home and confiscated a printer and other items. Ms. Cao has been illegally detained at the Daqing Detention Center. Ms. Jiang was released.

On the morning of July 22, 2009, Sun Xiuquan, head of the Xingda Police Station in Zhuanghe City, led several officers and broke into practitioner Ms. Zhang Likai's restaurant. After they tricked her into opening the door, they began to ransack her restaurant and then they took Ms. Zhang to the police station. Those officers then went to a store run by Ms. Song Xiangfeng and her husband. They confiscated cash and some of their personal belongings, and then they took Ms. Song and her husband to a police station. That same afternoon, Ms. Zhang and Ms. Song's husband were able to return home. Ms. Song was detained at the Dalian City Yaojia Detention Center.

On July 10, 2009 police officer Wang Chunyuan from the Education Department began to carry out forced "transformation" on Mr. Wu Zilong, who was illegally detained at No. 7 ward. Mr. Wu was transferred to the brainwashing room, where many inmates have been taking turns monitoring him. He is not allowed to have any contact with others. He is under close surveillance and is monitored by inmates around the clock.

At 6 a.m. on July 22, 2009, Team Leader of Yitong County Domestic Security Brigade Wang Yichao led about five people and teamed with police officers from Kaoshan Township Police Station in Yitong County. They broke into practitioner Ms. Li Jinping's home and then arrested her.

At about 10 a.m. on July 20, 2009 four police officers from Jilin City Police Bureau broke into practitioner Ms. Liu Yongying's hair salon. They arrested her and confiscated a few hundred yuan, her cell phone and a few Shen Yun DVD's. Currently Ms. Liu is being illegally detained in the Jilin City Detention Center and she is on a hunger strike.

At around 7:30 a.m. on July 21, 2009, a dozen police officers broke into Ms. Zhai Xiuhua's home in the Scientific Research Residential Community of the Liaohe Oil Fields. They searched her home, videotaped the scene, and confiscated a computer, a printer, and other personal belongings. Several officers carried Ms. Zhai into a police vehicle.

On the same day, the police also searched Ms. Yu Guiyun's home in the Shiji Residential Community. They confiscated a computer, a printer, and other items. Ms. Yu was taken into custody.

At around 7:00 a.m. on July 22, 2009, over 40 officers from the Fujin City Police Department and the Chengxiang Police Station were sent out to arrest practitioners and search their homes. Over 20 officers broke into Mr. Gao Liansheng's home. They searched his home and took him to a detention center. Mr. Gao's wife and daughter went to the police station asking for his release. No results came of their request.

Ms. Li Yaqin happened to not be at her home when three or four officers led by Zou Benke, a residential police officer, ransacked her home. The officers took a copy of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and an issue of Minghui Weekly magazine.

At the same time, a group of officers, led by Li Guohui, director of the Nangang Police Station, besieged Ms. Wang Guifang's home. The officers attempted to take Ms. Wang into custody upon seeing her coming downstairs. Her son, who is not a practitioner, argued with the officers. Ms. Wang managed to return to her home.

Another group of officers knocked on Ms. Wang Jinbao's door. They got in, videotaped her home, and left.

On July 19, 2009, a practitioner with the surname Wang (gender unknown) from Liuhe County was taken into custody while giving out brochures. The police took the practitioner to the Liuhe County Detention Center.

At around 8:00 a.m. on July 22, 2009, Ms. Fang Yuru, who lives in the Zhucaoying area in Funing County, Qinhuangdao City, was turned in to the police while she was telling others about Falun Dafa in a farmers market. Four officers from the Zhucaoying Police Station and the Funing County Domestic Security Division forcibly took her to the police station. The officers then searched her home and confiscated Falun Dafa books and two MP3 players. Ms. Fang is being held at the Funing County Detention Center.

At around 10:00 p.m. on July 21, 2009, a large group of police officers knocked on the door of Ms. Xu Junnan's home in the Gulou District, Nanjing City. Ms Xu's family refused to open the door. Most of the officers left, but one plainclothes officer stayed. Later several other officers came back to keep an eye on her family. By the evening of July 22, there were still plainclothes officers staked out.

Ms. Xu's daughter, Ms. Wu Jie, was formerly an outstanding student in the architecture department of the Architecture and Urban Planning Institute of Chongqing University. Ms. Wu was taken to so-called "study sessions" on various occasions while at the university. The goal of these study sessions was to force her to give up her belief. She was suspended from the university for practicing Falun Dafa. Recently, university officials unilaterally expelled her from school. Ms. Wu and her older brother, Mr. Wu Minglei, were arrested and held in custody for over eight months for distributing truth clarification materials in Hainan Province.

Mr. Zhang, 75 years old, is handicapped. He has had operations in the past. He has been taken into custody numerous times for his belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He was unlawfully sentenced to forced labor twice.

At around 7:00 a.m. on July 21, a group of police officers broke into Ms. Zhai Xiuhua's home. They forcibly took her into custody. The officers also confiscated her personal belongings.

On July 16, 2009, Mr. Zhu Qiusheng was taken into custody. His home was searched. He is being held at the Shaowu Detention Center in Fujian Province.

It has been verified that on July 4, 2009, officers from the Huanghe Road Police Station in Dalian City broke into Ms. Shi Guixiang's home. The officers took into custody Ms. Shi and practitioners who gathered at her home for a cookout, including Ms. Liu Renfeng (70 years old), Ms. Jiang Lihua, Ms. Lin Jun, a young practitioner with the surname Ma, Ms. Ma Yulan (75 years old), another young practitioner with the surname Gong, Ms. Feng Gang, and Ms. Wang Juan and her husband. Mr. Li Zhiting, 73, lives in Chahe Village, Muyudian Town, Laiyang City. On July 19, 2009, he went to the farmers market in Shewopo Town to tell others about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers from the Shewopo Police Station took him into custody. They searched his home the following day and confiscated a television set and a DVD player.

At 4:00 a.m. on July 20, 2009, the police took into custody Ms. Zhang Xiaoyan in the No. 2 Group in Yuantaizi Village and Ms. Yuan Fengyun in Nanlingao Village, Liucheng Town.

On the morning of July 21, 2009, Ms. Zhong Shujuan was taken into custody by officers from the Huadong Road Police Station. Her husband went to the police station to ask for her release that afternoon. The officers told him that Ms. Zhong had been taken to a brainwashing center in Fushun City.

On the afternoon of July 17, 2009, Ms. Xu Hanming was taken into custody in her home in Changning District, Shanghai. The police searched her home.

On August 20, 2000, Ms. Xu went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. The police took her back to Shanghai. She was held in a detention center for 24 hours. In January 2001, she was prosecuted on fabricated charges of interfering with social order. On April 18, 2001, she was taken to a brainwashing center, where she was held for three months. In September 2005, she was turned in for telling others about Falun Dafa. She was detained for 15 days on administrative charges before two more months of brainwashing. On June 12, 2006, she was taken to a forced labor camp for a one-year term. On the afternoon of July 17, 2009, she was again taken into custody.

Ms. Yu Peiying has been taken into custody or placed under detention on criminal charges dozens of times from 2000 to the present day. In May 2001, she was unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor for distributing truth clarification materials. In April 2004, she was sentenced to three years in prison for producing and distributing truth clarification materials. She was on the verge of death as a result of police brutality in 2006 when she was released on medical parole.

Ms. Yu's eldest daughter, Ms. Li Weihong, died as a result of persecution in 2003. Her youngest daughter, Ms. Li Weiling, was detained on criminal charges or otherwise arrested numerous times. In 2008, Ms. Li Weiling was sentenced to eight years in prison. She was recently released and still remains under surveillance. Ms. Yu's husband has been living under police threat and harassment. He has suffered from high blood pressure. He is usually hospitalized several times a year. He has not been taken care of due to the absence of his wife and daughters.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "Solemn Declaration" is a person's public statement to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. These statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wish to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Now, they hereby declare their intention to resume practicing Falun Dafa.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong practitioners from Arizona came together for a full day of studying the Fa and sharing on August 8.  The day was concluded with a Candlelight Vigil at a busy intersection of the largest city park in Tucson.   The practitioners sat for an hour, sending forth righteous thoughts with their most compassionate hearts.

The event was intended not only as a time to remember those who have been persecuted in  China, but also a time to remember that Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance cannot be damaged, no matter how  brutal, severe and irrational the persecution.  Falun Dafa practitioners have remained steadfast throughout.

Planning for the vigil also provided an opportunity to remind the local media of the peaceful nature of Falun Gong and the realities of the ongoing persecution.  The anchor of a local Access Tucson program, who has conducted interviews about the persecution and organ harvesting, came out to support the effort.

Under pressure from the Chinese Communist government, the Korean government deported three Falun Gong asylum seekers in July. Currently, two more practitioners are at risk of being forced to leave Korea. Falun Gong practitioners from different countries have appealed to the Korean government not to give in to the Chinese Communist regime, but instead to take the side of justice, support human rights and stop the deportation of the Falun Gong asylum seekers.

On July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party launched a systematic persecution of Falun Gong. This persecution has not only targeted Falun Gong practitioners’ belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, but also has fundamentally damaged the society's morality and value system. The persecution is not limited to within China, but also extends overseas.

Falun Gong practitioners held up banners to alert officials from the Korean Embassy and local residents to face the truth: "Falun Gong practitioners in China are being tortured to death." Falun Gong practitioners also sincerely appealed to the Korean government and the public: "Do not give in to the Chinese Communist regime".

People stopped to inquire about the persecution of Falun Gong and learned about the deportation incidents in Korea. They showed understanding and support for the protest. After three days of protest, many people have signed the petition. Some people said that this was the first time they'd heard about Falun Gong. They wanted to know more about Falun Gong and some people wanted to know where the practice sites are.

(Clearwisdom.net) From July 27 to August 2, 2009, Falun Gong practitioners in Denmark went on a car tour around eight major Danish cities outside of Copenhagen to introduce Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, a cultivation practice based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and to clarify the truth about the persecution in China.

July saw the tenth year of Falun Gong practitioners' efforts to end the persecution. Even though practitioners in Denmark have never stopped introducing Falun Gong or exposing the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution, many in Denmark still have not learned the facts. Therefore, practitioners initiated this event to promote Falun Gong and clarify the truth.

Once, when the car tour reached Odense, a reporter from the biggest newspaper in Fyens, Fyens Stiftstidende, came to do an interview. The next day, a report entitled, "Falun Gong: we are being persecuted" had this to say, "Yesterday, Falun Gong practitioners in yellow T-shirts held an appeal at Flakhaven. We learned that the members of this spiritual movement are still being persecuted in China. They distributed leaflets, and gave out information about Falun Gong and the problem with the Chinese regime."

The practitioners met many pre-destined people. Some asked how to learn the practice, carefully taking down contact details and the Internet address for finding out more about Falun Gong. Some started to learn the exercises on the spot.

The following day, while in Fredericia, a dozen school children were on their way home. Seeing the practitioners demonstrating the exercises, they came over and imitated the movements. One boy could quite naturally sit in the double lotus position, and he quickly learned the fifth exercise. Language barriers did not stop a brother and sister from Germany from learning the movements for half an hour.

Having heard the introduction of Falun Gong, two girls asked, "Could we give out your leaflets?" When given the OK, they happily took a pile to hand out to nearby shops. Afterwards, they came for another batch.

On the third day, the car tour arrived at Esbjerg, traditionally a fishing town in the Jutland Peninsula and now an industrial city. The weather was rainy. A girl of Mexican descent stayed for two hours at the practitioners’ stand. She carefully learned all five exercises. When she finished learning the first two exercises and started to learn the fifth exercise, she could not sit in the double lotus position. But when she finished learning the third and fourth exercises and reviewed the fifth exercise, she quickly managed the double lotus position.

On the fourth day, the car arrived at Herning, where there was a downpour. There were few people in the streets. Still people with pre-destined relationships came for Falun Gong. Eddi, who was studying Chinese acupuncture, was very interested in Chinese culture and understood virtue and karma from Buddhism. That day, he and his wife passed the stand with their baby in a stroller. With intense interest, they learned about Falun Gong and the persecution in China from practitioners. They promised to carefully study the materials given to them.

Soon, the couple returned to the stand and asked how to learn the practice. When they heard that practitioners would only stay there for that day, they were very disappointed. Then Eddi changed his plans and learned the practice straight away. The rainstorm became stronger and stronger. At a temporary stage nearby that provided somewhat of a shelter, Eddi learned the first four exercises and bought copies of Falun Gong and Zhuan Falun in Danish.

During the car tour practitioners used a petition form to be handed to the Danish government. Wherever they went, a lot of people would come forward to sign, calling on the Danish government to help stop the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong. Sometimes people even queued up to sign their names.

On the fifth day, at the scenic city of Silkeborg, practitioners stayed for only the morning. When people saw the peaceful exercise demonstration and learned that such a gentle practice is banned in China, they were incredulous. A passer-by commented, "What is not banned in China! Only doing bad things is not banned."

In the afternoon, the practitioners arrived at the second largest city, Aarhus. Practitioners clarified the truth in the city centre. Here, many people signed the petition without hesitation. On several occasions people formed queues to put down their signatures.

On the sixth day, practitioners came to the fourth largest city in Denmark, Aalborg, and held an event near an amusement park at the city centre, Karolinelund. Having learned the truth, the actor who played the traditional amusement park clown, Pjerrot, signed to condemn the CCP’s persecution and wished practitioners good luck.

An amusement park train full of tourists stopped by the stand. The passengers happily accepted truth clarification materials. Having seen the photos, a Danish lady said, "What's happening in China is terrible. Let’s work together and hope things will improve."

(Clearwisdom.net) Shortly after their nationwide truth-clarifying car tour in Denmark, Falun Gong practitioners of Copenhagen continued their endeavors to protest the persecution. On August 2, 2009, at Axeltorv Square, practitioners introduced Falun Gong, a cultivation practice based on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and exposed the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) ten-year-long persecution of the practice.

In August, the weather in Denmark is very mild. A lot of people came to Axeltorv Square over the weekend. A young man looked at the display boards and couldn't understand why the CCP wanted to persecute Falun Gong. A practitioner told him that practitioners believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and that there were more than 100 million practitioners in China before 1999. Because the Communist Party is against tradition and human nature, it could not tolerate a group of people that believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, thus starting the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999. In the ten long years of persecution, the Party has even been responsible for harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit. The young man was horrified and said it was a human rights violation. Understanding the truth, he signed the petition form and said, "I support you!"

People who have lived in communist countries have a better understanding of the CCP. Several people from Poland looked at the display boards and immediately understood what was happening in China, because they know the Communist Party will do unthinkable things. They were very sympathetic to the people being persecuted and solemnly signed their names in support.

Two young girls came to look at the pictures. A practitioner told them about Falun Dafa. Pointing to a picture of Ms. Gao Rongrong, whom the Chinese policemen shocked with electric batons all over her face, the practitioner told the girls that Ms. Gao was tortured and died in police custody. The girls were very shocked and later took a photo in front of the picture.

An old couple from Israel came to look at the pictures. They didn't understand why practitioners were at the square, so they asked a lot of questions. A practitioner told them that the CCP is a dictator in China, and it wants to control people's thoughts and doesn't allow people to have other beliefs. The couple then understood what the CCP is really like.

Some people wanted to learn the Falun Gong exercises after learning the facts. Two ladies wrote down when and where the exercises were taught and said they were interested in learning them.

(Clearwisdom.net) I live with other practitioners in a mountainous area. During the past ten years, we have been following the principles of Falun Dafa and bringing the wonder of Falun Dafa and the truth about the persecution to people. On this returning path, we have weathered many storms. We have enlightened to many things from what we have experienced.

The point that touches us most is: Teacher arranged for us to be together so that we can help each other, harmonize with each other and cooperate with each other in order to remove our attachments and become pure during the process of assisting Teacher in Fa-rectification. Such lives will form an indestructible body. As long as this one body does well and walks its path well, we will completely deny the arrangements made by the old forces and create a wonderful future for sentient beings as Teacher requires us to do.

Teacher said,

"No matter how difficult your environment is, no matter how busy you get, you cannot forget to study the Fa. You must study the Fa, because it is the absolute, most fundamental guarantee of your improvement." ("Fa-Lecture at the Conference in Florida, U.S.A." )

During the past ten years we have been studying the Fa together. Through Fa study we can identify our shortcomings and resolve them. Our practice site is also our location for group Fa study. Since we started cultivation in Dafa, our group Fa study has never been disrupted, regardless of the weather. New practitioners and veteran practitioners alike are all focused on Fa study and cultivation. We help each other and improve as one body.

On July 20, 1999, the evil started the persecution, defaming Teacher and Dafa. But we all knew clearly: Teacher is innocent, and Dafa is righteous. Everything we do brings numerous benefits and does no harm to society. Several of us went to the township government to ask for justice. The officials from the village committee did not allow us to practice in the daytime, so we got up at midnight to practice and study the Fa. Despite the persecution, our Fa study group has never been interrupted. The number of practitioners in our Fa study group has increased from four to more than ten. During the past ten years, we have made Fa study a priority no matter how busy we are with our farm work. We regard the "three things" as our responsibility. Each practitioner can play the role of one hundred people while saving sentient beings.

We have covered every corner of our township. We have traveled back and forth between villages, along rivers, and down mountain roads countless times. The banners, posters and signs displaying the truth are everywhere in the villages, on walls, boulders, telephone poles, blackboards, etc. Again and again we have written them on, put them up and pasted them on. The courtyards of households and their front gates are the places that we visit several times a year. As such, we have been questioned, chased, followed, cursed and ridiculed many times. We have faced these situations calmly. Under Teacher's compassionate protection, we have turned danger into safety time and time again.

There is a lot of farm work in the countryside. We bring truth-clarifying materials with us while we are doing the farm work in the field at daytime. Whoever meets us, we want to save. It's a better opportunity than just clarifying the truth while visiting friends and going to the market.

We study the Fa together twice every week and clarify the truth outside together once every two weeks. We coordinate our efforts like this: First, we divide the nine villages in our township into four groups. Two practitioners are in one group. Only eight practitioners can go outside to clarify the truth at night. The oldest practitioner is 62 years old and the youngest is 52. The older practitioners go to the closer villages, with a round trip being about forty li (Chinese unit, 500 meters per li). The younger practitioners go to farther villages, with a round trip about 80 li. We do not use any other way of getting around other than walking. We get the materials ready according to different villages before we go outside. We put the materials in front of the gate of each household. In the meanwhile, we paste the posters and hang up the banners in appropriate places.

We put up the posters like this: Two practitioners are in one group. One practitioner stands on a big stone, then squats down; another practitioner stands on her shoulders and then the two practitioners stand up together. In this way, we can paste the posters in places over three meters high so that kids and people who don't understand the truth cannot destroy them. The signs will stay up for a longer time, thus playing a more effective role.

Every time we come back from clarifying the truth, we sit together to share our experiences and find the gaps between us so that we can do better next time as one body. Additionally, when we clarify the truth together, we usually choose the night before the market day. This way, every village, every group and every household can see the truth at the same time. It is very effective in saving sentient beings and frightening the evil.

We have delivered the wonder of Falun Dafa to thousands of households. Almost everyone knows the truth about Falun Dafa. On "politically sensitive days" or holidays, the officials from the villages and the township will notify us immediately if the central government plans to start another campaign of arrests. We then get prepared.

Our experience has taught us that Teacher will do everything for us as long as we improve ourselves to the required level. For instance, late at night when it is so dark that it is hard to see our hands in front of our faces, Teacher will illuminate the road for us. It happens the same way for each of us. Every practitioner feels that there is a light on their forehead, just like the headlamps that miners wear. The light illuminates wherever we go. Especially when we hang up the signs, we can see clearly no matter how dark it is. As long as our righteous thoughts are strong enough, everything makes a way for us. Even the dogs do not bark.

Clarifying the truth, persuading people to do the three withdrawals (withdrawal from the Chinese Communist Party and its affiliated Youth League and Young Pioneers) and saving sentient beings are the best manifestation of genuine cultivation! We started to encourage our families and friends to quit the CCP immediately after Teacher published the article, "Turning the Wheel Towards the Human World." In the beginning our relatives didn't understand and said some bad words. We divided eight practitioners who could clarify the truth into four groups, then delivered the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" and other materials to literate people in the villages. Meanwhile, we went door to door and clarified the truth and persuaded people to quit the CCP. Gradually people began to understand. It's much easier now. During the busy farming season, we went to visit people who lived nearby. Quite often an entire family will quit the CCP together.

When it is not the farming season, we go to the villages farther away from home. When it's market time, we go to the market to clarify the truth. Two practitioners are in one group, with one sending forth righteous thoughts and the other persuading people to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. So far, people who have quit the CCP in our surrounding villages account for half of the population. Among the 140 households in our village, over 95% have quit the CCP. In any village where there are Dafa practitioners, the rate of withdrawals is over 50%.

During the past eight years, we have enlightened to one point: the strength of cooperation as one body is infinite. The process of cooperation as one body is cultivation. We should follow the Fa and cultivate solidly. In cultivation, we have to study the Fa well, look within and rectify every single action, word and thought of ours. Gradually we are forming one harmonious body.

(Clearwisdom.net) "Validate the Fa with rationality, clarify the truth with wisdom, spread the Fa and save people with mercy—this is establishing the mighty virtue of an Enlightened Being." (Essentials for Further Advancement II) As disciples during the Fa-rectification period, we should know the path Master has arranged for us. To do so, we must understand the Fa rationally so that we can distinguish between the path arranged by Master and that set up by the old forces.

I am in the restaurant business. After July 20, 1999, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) focused on eliminating our practice. My restaurant was illegally closed three times for a length of time totaling over 13 months. Their aim was to cut off our source of income. However, they weren't successful. They told the police department to investigate me and come up with a false claim that my house and other property were acquired through funds I collected when people came to do group exercises. No ordinary people or practitioners were willing to support their claim. Instead, everyone said that the use of my house was free of charge. Still, they ransacked my home five or six times and I was detained in a forced labor camp for five years. The local government ordered the bank to not let me have access to loans.

The persecution I experienced was aimed at my source of income. I would like to discuss what I have learned from this experience.

When I first learned Falun Dafa, a practitioner once told me that I should stop being in the restaurant business so that I wouldn't lose virtue for money. However, my understanding was that we shouldn't try to change how society operates. Instead, we should use it to validate the Fa. Whether or not we "lose virtue" depends on how we spend the money. When I have money, I can use it positively to validate the Fa.

The evil CCP knows the impact of money and that you can't do much without it. In addition, some practitioners have wrong thoughts about money. They think we should not keep any money and only care about getting by in life. This attitude is against Master's teaching and has a negative impact on family life.

While studying the 2009 lecture in New York, I realized that one must comprehend the Fa rationally. Trying to act like a "superior" being and above normal standards can cause people to avoid and have misunderstandings about Dafa. For example, a practitioner bought a crane for his hoisting business, but never made any money, while other people in the same business were successful. Why did this happen? Many practitioners have the thought that we shouldn't think about making money because we are in the last phase of Fa-ratification! How will this "thinking" impact the business of the practitioner who bought the crane?

We are practitioners. Starting out as good people, we should continue to better ourselves so that we can be role models for future generations. To care for others doesn't mean we should do nothing. Master said in "Teaching the Fa at the Conference in Vancouver, Canada, in 2003,"

"But you can't go to extremes, you can't go to any extreme. Once you go to an extreme, you've damaged the path I arranged for you and Fa's requirements for you. You should do the things you should do in a normal way. If tomorrow is Consummation, today you still won't know it, and suppose you're thinking about opening a business, then just go ahead and do it. But I'll harmonize everything for you. "

This means that if Fa-rectification is over tomorrow, we should still do what we're supposed to do today. A clear understanding of this point allows us to follow the path arranged by Master and reject the path of the old forces. We should pay attention to this point and not give the evil any opportunities to interfere with our mission to help Master in Fa-ratification or make our everyday life difficult.

What I would like to emphasize here is that as practitioners we need to think clearly and rationally. Don't allow the old forces to persecute us financially. Practitioners know how and where to spend their money. Practitioners shouldn't stop doing their daily work because of financial difficulties.

The above is my understanding about financial persecution. Please point out anything that is improper.

(Clearwisdom.net) An incident that occurred at work made me realize that human attachments are very subtle and complex.

Due to quality issues on the products that our company produces, it was decided, by the director of a certain department, that our department's wages were not to be paid for the month. I am in charge this particular department and was very angry to learn this news. I thought that our department should not be penalized, because the problem was not caused by us. In addition, when this problem occurred before, our department's wages were not affected, so why should it happen this time? I thought that it was very unfair, and I was full of hatred towards the director of that department. Since I thought it was not fair and that I was right, I wanted to talk to people about this matter, to vent my anger and try to resolve the issue.

However, when I tried to make phone calls, I found that I could not contact anyone. The phone lines were either busy or nobody picked up the phone. I then became even angrier. As I was complaining to the accountant in my department, a fan on the window sill suddenly fell off and made a loud noise as it hit the floor. I looked up and found that there was a large crack in the window. I suddenly realized that I was wrong. It was so obvious that I had problems in my cultivation.

I tried my best to calm down and concentrate on the work I had to do. Then I started to quietly look inward. It was true that I was right and the director was being unreasonable, but why was it me who had the problem? At this time Master's words appeared in my head:

A wicked person is born of jealousy. Out of selfishness and anger he complains about unfairness towards himself. A benevolent person always has a heart of compassion. With no discontentment or hatred, he takes hardship as joy. An enlightened person has no attachments at all. He quietly observes the people of the world deluded by illusions.

I looked inward and found that I was on the edge of becoming a wicked person, as my head was full of anger and hatred. I was not able to forbear; I was not kind either, not to mention being compassionate. Although I believe I was right, I should have shared my understanding calmly and rationally, and should not have tried to complain about it to everybody. I was not cultivating my speech. In addition, the problem occurred in my department after all. I looked inward more carefully and found so many attachments: hatred, feeling unfairly treated, jealousy, hidden fear, selfishness and self-protection, among other things. I recalled that fellow practitioners had said that the evil was hiding in our attachments. How much evil was hiding in my many attachments! In Zhuan Falun Master said, "I’ll tell you a truth: the whole process of cultivation is a process of constantly getting rid of human attachments." As practitioners, we really should behave in accordance with the requirements of the Fa, give up all of our attachments, and cultivate to the extent of being extremely clean and pure.

From this incident I learned that when we encounter problems, we should not just look at what is right or wrong from the surface level, which is not important. What is critical is that we should find our hidden attachments and human mindsets. Furthermore, when we encounter tribulations, Master usually reminds us that we should immediately, and unconditionally look inward. Once we are moved, we should immediately look inward. My fellow practitioners, we truly should not cover up our attachments by the rights and wrongs of anything shown on the surface level. We must absolutely give up all of our attachments and reach the standard of the Fa. That is what Master wants, what the Fa wants, and what the future cosmos wants. At the same time, the purer we are, the greater our abilities are to save those sentient beings.
