Missouri: City of St. Peters Proclaims July 13-18, 2009 as Falun Dafa Week
(Clearwisdom.net) The persecution of Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese Communist Party has lasted for 10 years. As Falun Gong practitioners have been continuously, peacefully and rationally resisting the persecution, more and more people have learned the truth, support Falun Gong, and condemn the atrocities of the Chinese Communist Party.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the persecution, on behalf of the City of St. Peters, the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen proclaimed July 13-18, 2009, as Falun Dafa Week.

Proclamation
Whereas, Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is a self-improvement practice rooted in ancient Chinese culture and introduced to the general public in 1992 by Mr. Li Hongzhi; and
Whereas, the foundational principles of Falun Gong are Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance; and
Whereas, Falun Gong practitioners strive to become good people in their daily lives; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa's effectiveness in improving health and its profound principles have quickly made the practice immensely popular with millions of practitioners worldwide; and
Whereas, Falun Dafa is non-political, has no binding membership, and the activities are free and open to the public; and
Whereas, even though Falun Dafa's emphasis on improving one's spiritual, mental, and physical health has caused it to spread rapidly across the planet, it is now condemned in China where practitioners of this regenerative faith have had their rights denied and have been tortured for studying Falun Dafa; and
Whereas, The City of St. Peters recognizes the practice of Falun Dafa and those who promote improving the quality of life in positive ways for all.
Now, Therefore, on behalf of the City of St. Peters, the Mayor and the Board of Aldermen, do hereby proclaim July 13-18, 2009, as
Falun Dafa Week
