(Clearwisdom.net) Shen Yun Performing Arts returned to warm San Diego and was received with high praise from an enthusiastic audience on Tuesday, May 26, 2009. The world-renowned show played to an appreciative and diverse audience from the greater San Diego area during its opening performance at the California Center for the Arts.

Mr. Andrews works for the Association for Holistic Health

Mr. Andrews, who holds a position in the Association for Holistic Health, saw Shen Yun for the first time. He noted, "We need to combine the ancient modalities of healing with modern medicine. We have an imbalance now of too many pharmaceuticals ... and not enough spirituality, not enough medicine of the heart."

In ancient China, it was appreciated that the arts, especially music, have a powerful role in healing. In fact, the Chinese character for "medicine" is composed of two characters, one of which is "music."

Reflecting on the spiritual elements in the show, Mr. Andrews said, "It's beautiful. We should have this in every community. If I had the money I would sponsor them and put them all over the planet."

He was impressed by the skill of the dancers and musicians in the show. "The discipline that is required to achieve that skill of dance and music is almost beyond my imagination."

Mr. Andrews commented that moral elements within Shen Yun could benefit society. "You know, the Western impatience to have a resolution of conflict every 23 minutes as we do on television. We need to return to discipline."

Shen Yun "Enhances spiritual values"

Joining the diverse audience was Ms. Mitchell, owner of an art gallery in San Diego. As a Chinese-American, she felt that the show was "...something special, and it was very, very good, because it's not just Chinese here, but a lot of foreigners and Americans as well."

Ms. Mitchell touched on the spiritual aspect of Shen Yun, "It enhances spiritual values, because the language of culture is universal, and everybody can understand it. Very, very good."

The dynamic, intricate backdrop that is an integral part of the performances impressed Ms. Mitchell. "That was very beautiful, very beautiful! It made it so easy to understand, and they [my friends] said in Beijing that they couldn't see something this pretty," she said.

She said, "I think my other friends who are Americans would really like to come as a group to see this show together."

Moved By The Spirituality

Mr. Taylor, who works in the pool industry, also had high praise for the Shen Yun show. He shared that the performance was "...very good. Visually stunning--very bright, and the music was great."

Regarding the backdrop, "...effects were great. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. ... There's really nothing to compare it with."

He was moved by the spiritual aspects in the show, which, "...gets you thinking about what's in store for us--what we can look forward to in the future. There's something else besides this earth life that we should always be thinking about."

"My wife was in tears"

Mr. Givens, a country club manager from southern California, and his wife were quite pleased to have seen Shen Yun. "Very, very exciting, colorful, and the musicality is top shelf! Very thrilled to be a part of this spectacle tonight," he said.

Mr. Givens was highly impressed, "I've never seen anything so precise, colorful, and the choreography is amazing--absolutely amazing. Really very, very exciting to watch."

Mr. Givens said the spirituality in the show was "very touching as well. My wife was in tears at a few different moments of the production."

His wife shared her reaction, "The orchestra just blew me away. It was just fabulous, beautiful, touching. Everything was just gorgeous about the orchestra. I could not believe it."

"While all the other colorful things were going on, I was looking at the orchestra. I could not believe how beautiful it was. That really touched me. And the colors and everything. It was fabulous, wonderful, breathtaking!" exclaimed Mrs. Givens.

She explained that having been a violinist, she was moved to tears by the music that the orchestra played, adding, "That's what really touched me, just beautiful--the music.

"And you know why it's interesting to me? I have relatives that are Chinese and Mexican, half and half, and I definitely have to let them know about this fabulous production," she said.
