Fulfilling Duty to Parents Sowed the Seeds of Obtaining the Fa
Liu Yuan was a clerk at a provincial government office, and her husband worked in another part of the country. Her parents-in-law were departmental leaders at the provincial government. Her sisters and brothers-in-law married into families of high-ranking officials of similar social status, whereas Liu came from an everyday worker's family. Living in this large residence with children and in-laws, she felt like an outsider. In order to assimilate well into the big family, she took on all the household chores, such as looking after the in-laws, feeding the children, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of the vegetable gardens in the front and back. However, her mother-in-law often expressed dissatisfaction or even scolded her. As a high-ranking official, the mother-in-law had her own set of standards for everything. Even though Liu did everything right, nothing counted as long as it did not meet her mother-in-law's standards. With her husband away and problems with her mother-in-law, Liu became very sad and depressed.
One day in 1997, a nine-day video lecture class by Falun Gong's founder Mr. Li Hongzhi was to be held at a large hall in the province. The mother-in-law managed to get a pair of tickets and took along Liu's elder sister-in-law, who was a section officer. The class was spread over nine days. Due to work-related issues, the elder sister could not make the class beyond the fifth lecture, so the mother-in-law requested Liu's company. At the time Liu Yuan had no idea what Falun Gong was about and had no time to do any qigong practice, but to fulfill her filial duty, she agreed to attend the lectures.
The video had already started when Liu arrived. Unexpectedly, she was deeply moved by Master Li's lecture. She felt that Master's words were so kind and the principles very convincing. She concentrated on Master's every word. In the following days, she accompanied her mother-in-law and finished the remaining lectures. As if a ray of sunshine had shone through her heart, Liu felt her long-term depression melt away. Her heart became light and open. Without hesitation, she found a practice site and started practicing.
The first time she did the second exercise of holding the Falun, she clearly saw many beautiful scenes, including mountains, oceans and flowers bursting into bloom. At the end of the exercise, the images disappeared. Liu Yuan wanted very much to see more. At the time she didn't know that her celestial eye had opened like Master said in Zhuan Falun.
Benefiting from the Practice and Spreading the Facts
Liu Yuan started practicing Falun Gong along with her mother-in-law. At the time, there were many high-ranking officials at the practice site. The mother-in-law changed a great deal after beginning cultivation. The two of them often studied the Fa and did the exercises together. Both followed the teachings in Zhuan Falun by looking inward whenever there was a conflict and by considering others more. Liu no longer thought of her mother-in-law as being unreasonable, and their relationship improved.
Liu Yuan had previously done her best in order to get praise, but she now completed her duties without any pursuit or complaint. At the workplace and at home, she did better than before without feeling she was unfairly treated. She felt most wonderful about completely eliminating her feeling of helplessness, which she had never managed before. She also witnessed the dramatic changes experienced by many practitioners around her.
After Jiang Zemin started the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, like other practitioners Liu lost the peaceful environment for practice, but she has been clarifying the truth about Falun Gong and the benefits that she gained to friends, colleagues, relatives, and business associates from other organizations. She distributed Falun Gong leaflets and the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, including personally bringing truth-clarifying materials to the head of Human Resources and the Party Secretary at her workplace.
Nowadays Liu Yuan is abroad and practicing in freedom and peace. She experienced again the happiness that she felt when she first started practicing in China. Whenever there is an opportunity, she goes to tourist attractions or shops to clarify the truth and expose the evil nature of the CCP to Chinese tourists or shoppers. Under the CCP's malicious propaganda, some Chinese believe that practitioners are paid to tell them about Falun Gong. With their kind words, Liu and her fellow practitioners eliminate the psychological barriers of those Chinese who are deceived by the CCP's lies. It is Liu's sincere wish to tell the facts about Falun Gong to every Chinese person with whom she has contact. More and more Chinese people are now willing to learn the facts and awaken.
