Falun Gong: The Power of Peace in Taiwan (Photos)

December 27, 2009 |   By Chou Rong from Taichung, Taiwan

(Clearwisdom.net) "When you see how they behave, I am more than moved. I can feel there is a power of peace, and it makes me believe there is still hope for this society." said Mr. Li, a human rights advocate from Taipei.

On December 22, 2009, as a delegation from the Chinese Communist regime continued their visit in Taiwan, protest groups followed them. In the confrontations, many protesters, civilians, and policemen noticed a quiet contingent that emanated a quiet power. The passersby gave them respectful glances, and some raised their thumbs to show their support. These were the Falun Dafa practitioners.

With banners stating the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong in China and photos of fellow practitioners that have died as a result of the persecution, Falun Gong practitioners from all different social strata stood peacefully and calmly, displaying the facts that they have been telling the world for over ten years, that Falun Dafa is great and asking the world to help to end the persecution.

Many passersby felt the force of the practitioners' compassion and curiously asked how to learn the exercises and why the was CCP persecuting Falun Gong.

A Persistent Power of Peace

Mr. Li is a human rights advocate from Taipei. He went to where the Falun Gong practitioners held a candlelight vigil the night before. Seeing how peaceful and solemn the practitioners were in the chilly wind all night long, he said they seemed like guardians of this land, unselfishly guarding their principles with perseverance.

Practitioners held a night-long protest and vigil beside the Grand Yuyuan Hotel on the evening of December 21, 2009.

"When you see how they behave, I am more than moved. I can feel there is a power of peace, and it makes me believe there is still hope for this society," said Mr. Li. He said Taiwan society should learn about the persistence of belief from this practice that cultivates Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.

Live Organ Harvesting Exposes the Chinese Communist Party's Evil Nature

Mr. Chung is a protester. When he walked past the Falun Gong area, a picture about how the CCP authorized doctors to remove and sell organs from live jailed practitioners caught his attention. He sadly reminded the Taiwan government not to deal with such an evil government.

Oumi Weilang, a native Taiwanese, is also a human rights activist.

Oumi Weilong, a native Taiwanese, said with worry in his voice, "If the CCP can harvest organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, one must realize that you shall not expect the CCP to value human rights. One should never abandon the principles of democracy, freedom, and human rights in favor of seeking economic favor with the CCP."

Legal studies expert Mr. Yuan Hongbin

Exiled dissident and legal expert Mr. Yuan Hongbin traveled to Taiwan to protest the Communist regime's visit. He said that more evidence would surface when the lawsuit against former Communist Leader Jiang Zemin proceeded through the courts and that then the world would recognize the evil nature of the CCP.

An Extraordinary Model

Yuan pointed out that the persecution of Falun Gong is one of the greatest human rights disasters in contemporary human history. But the worldwide peaceful protests by Falun Gong practitioners over the past 10 years have proven to be an extraordinary model in protecting human rights and freedom of belief. "This protest is valuable and meaningful," he said. "Their protests are peaceful and calm but they are persistent and unyielding. I believe it is related to the special spiritual quality of Falun Gong."

Political columnist Mr. Lin Baohua came to the protest to explore the situation in person. He pointed to a banner stating that Jiang Zemin and four other high ranking Communist officials were being sued on criminal charges in Spain and said that the banners would displease the CCP delegates but that the method of protest was good--peaceful but powerful.

City Council member Mr. Liu Guolong raised his thumb to show his approval of practitioners' behavior at the protest, saying, "Falun Gong is great!" He also said that Falun Gong was most the disciplined and orderly group protesting. Before he left, he gave his contact information to a practitioner and offered his help whenever needed.
