(Clearwisdom.net) The New York Company of Shen Yun Performing Arts opened in Houston Monday evening, December 21, 2009, at Houston's Jones Hall with its stunningly curved marble façade, eight story columns and a brilliantly lit entrance. The sold-out performance enchanted the audience with its depiction of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.
TV Administrator: "The best story telling I've heard"
Mr. Eymann, an administrator from a Houston television station,
was among the audience. He felt Shen Yun was "the best story
telling I've heard in the last how many years?"
He was impressed with the many aspects of the performance, saying,
"The colors, the songs, it was easy to follow the stories. It meant
something."
"You get a good message and it left you feeling good at the end of
the show."
Mr. Eymann felt he wanted to learn more, and ended by saying, "I'm
going to look up some things [referenced in the show] on the
Internet tonight when I go home."

"One of the Great Performances"
Mark, a sales manager from a pharmaceutical company, was also
among the audience on Monday evening. Mark was born near the border
of India and Tibet so he grew up with Chinese culture. He felt that
watching Shen Yun was like experiencing a homecoming. He brought
his daughter, who grew up in America, to the show.
"She was born here, but I want her to learn the [Chinese] culture
because it's so similar to where I grew up. It's just on the border
of India and China. We have so many similar people there and so I
wanted her to feel at home a little bit today, and it was
definitely entertaining," Mark said.
"It was wonderful. It was one of the great performances and my
daughter was here for the first time. She thoroughly enjoyed it.
We're looking forward for next year as well."
"You could just feel the words even if you don't know the language
... it was wonderfully done."
"The most impressive part I would say was the ... I don't know, all
of them. The color, the dancers, the singing, everything was just
spectacular--it's wonderful!" he said.
Musician: "This is wonderful"
Another audience member was Mr. Jost, an engineer and a musician
who has played string bass for over forty years. He was
particularly delighted with the full orchestra which has a mix of
Chinese and Western instruments playing original pieces.
"I love coming to musicals and this is wonderful. It's an
integration of both Eastern and Western cultures. You can hear it
in the music, it's really neat," said Mr. Jost.
Mr. Jost has seen a lot of musicals, although not multicultural
musicals, so he was appreciative of Shen Yun's depiction of music
and dance.
"This is really a first for me. I like the way they announce and
interpret in both languages. I think that's really great."
"The Tibetan one, that was wonderful."
Mr. Jost's wife's company is a sponsor from Dallas, and many from
her company were at the theater tonight. Mr. Jost said he would
encourage friends and business associates to see Shen Yun.
