Additional Persecution News from China - December 24, 2008 (30 Reports)

(Clearwisdom.net) Today's report relates persecution incidents that took place in 25 cities or counties in nine provinces. Thirty-five Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during detention, and at least 14 practitioners were arrested.

Ms. Zhu Yumei and Ms. Wang Kun from the Acheng District, Harbin City were arrested in Jiaojie Town on July 29, 2008. Ms. Wang is being held in the Acheng District No.1 Detention Center, and Ms. Zhu is being held in the City Police Department No. 7 Section. They will be on trial in the Daoli District Court at 9:00 a.m. on December 23, 2008.

Ms. Zhang Xiqin and Ms. Yang Shumei from Bei'an City were arrested at 4:30 p.m. on December 22, 2008. Policeman Zhang Chunsheng took part in the arrest. His cell phone number is: 86-456-8617807

3. [Henan Province] Ms. Shi Xiuyun Arrested at 1:00 p.m. on December 12, 2008 and Is Held in the Liuge Detention Center in Zhumadian City

4. [Beihai City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Liang Zhong Arrested from His Home at 3:00 p.m. on December 21, 2008

5. [Laiyuan County, Hebei Province] Nine Practitioners Arrested

Personnel from the Mazhuang Police Station arrested nine practitioners from Laiyuan County on December 16, 2008 when they distributed Falun Gong flyers. The police tortured those practitioners, and eight of them went on hunger strikes to protest the torture. Police force-fed them, and thus several are in critical danger and were sent to the county hospital.

6. [Mengyin County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Xigui Extorted

Police arrested Ms. Zhang Xigui from Zhoujiagouzi Village, Mengyin County and put her into the county detention center on May 9, 2008. Personnel from the county 610 Office extorted 8,000 yuanfrom her and then released her.

7. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Nie Yubao and Ms. Du Dengxiang Arrested

Personnel from the Yinan County Police Department colluded with officers from the Puwang Town Police Station and from the county 610 Office. They arrested 40-year-old Mr. Nie Yubao from Tugou Village, Puwang Town and 50-year-old Ms. Du Dengxiang from Longjiaozhuangzi Village at 5:00 a.m. on May 22, 2008. They held Ms. Du in the town police station for one day and then transferred her to the county police department. Ms. Du's family went to visit her twice but the visits were denied, and the family was fined 500 yuan.

8. [Shandong Province] Ms. Yang Mingxia Held in the Yishui County Detention Center

Police arrested Ms. Yang Mingxia from Xujiawa Village, Yishui Town, Yishui County, Shandong Province. Personnel from the county 610 Office and from the county Domestic Security Division ransacked her home and put her into the county detention center.

9. [Tianjin] Mr. Zhang Juguo Arrested

Mr. Zhang Juguo, born in October 1969, is an associate professor at the American History and Culture Center in the School of History at Nankai University. Police arrested him and put him into the Nankai City Detention Center.

10. [Tanghai County, Hebei Province] Ms. Sun Cuiqing Sentenced to Four Years of Imprisonment

Personnel from the Tanghai County Court attempted to sentence Ms. Sun Cuiqing twice, but failed. Tanghai County Police Department deputy chief Zhang Shun and Domestic Security Division chief Li Fuguo eventually plotted with officials in the Tanghai County Court and sentenced Ms. Sun to four years in prison.

11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Repeat Sentence for Ms. Wang Xiurong

Officials in the Luyuan District Court in Changchun City sentenced Ms. Wang Xiurong to four years in prison on December 23, 2008. Prior to this, they had already sentenced her once in November.

12. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Updated Information about Mr. Cong Liang, Ms. Wu Naiying, Ms. Zhang Qinghua and Ms. Liu Tingxiu

Personnel from the Dadong District Court in Shenyang City sentenced Mr. Cong Liang, Ms. Wu Naiying, Ms. Zhang Qinghua and Ms. Liu Tingxiu at the end of October 2008. Mr. Cong was sentenced to four and a half years; Ms. Wu to four years; Ms. Zhang to three and a half years; and Ms. Liu to three years. Ms. Liu is being held in the Shenyang City Women's Prison.

14. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Min Buzuo and Mr. Jiang Wenji Arrested

Police arrested Mr. Min Buzuo from the Longan Township in the Xindu District, Chengdu City, and Mr. Jiang Wenji on December 19, 2008. They are being held in the district detention center.

16. [Panshi City, Jilin Province] Several Practitioners Arrested

Several practitioners from Panshi City were arrested and their homes were ransacked in the middle of July 2008. Police damaged a Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials-production center and put the practitioners into the city detention center

Ms. Qian Xi'ai from the Hongqiling District, Panshi City was arrested on December 15, 2008 when she went to the local police station to get her citizenship I.D. card. Police put her into the Shanshang Detention Center.

17. [Zhanghe City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Liu Qin Arrested in 2000 and Sentenced to Imprisonment

Police arrested Ms. Liu Qin from Houlu Village, Dazheng Town, Zhuanghe City in 2000. She was recently sentenced to two years in prison in the city court.

18. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Yang Sizhen and Her Husband Go into Exile

Personnel from the Anju District Police Department in Suining City went to Ms. Yang Sizhen's home to arrest her at 1:00 p.m. on July 6, 2008. Ms. Yang escaped, as only her daughter was at home. Police confiscated her I.D. card, several pieces of evidence of persecution including a forced labor camp certificate and imprisonment documentation, some Falun Gong flyers and a picture with Master's image. The police went to her home again the next day and harassed the family. Ms. Yang and her husband now live in exile.

19. [Sichuan Province] Ms. Hu Yurong Held in the Nanmusi Women's Prison in Zizhong City

Ms. Hu Yurong is being held in the Nanmusi Women's Prison in Zizhong City. She put characters reading "The Heavens Destroy the Chinese Communist Party" on a toy dog. After it was discovered, she was viciously beaten by a group of guards. Guards also beat Mr. Peng Shiquan because he called on other detained practitioners to not do forced labor.

20. [Beihai City, Guangxi Autonomous Region] Mr. Liang Zhong Arrested

Personnel from the Longtan Police Station, the Haicheng District Police Department and the 610 Office arrested Mr. Liang Zhong from his home in Jiangbian Village, Beihai City on the afternoon of December 20, 2008. His whereabouts are unknown.

21. [Hubei Province] Police Harass Ms. Wang

Four policemen ransacked 70-year-old Ms. Wang's home at No.71 Yudai Street, Ronghua Avenue in the Qiaokou District, Wuhan City at 9:00 a.m. on December 17, 2008. They confiscated a few books and some Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. This is the second time that the police have come to her home to harass her. Police and officers from the Youyi Residential Committee ordered Ms. Wang's landlord to drive her out, and Ms. Wang has to find another place before the coming New Year Day.

22. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Liu Qiufang, Arrested on December 4, 2008, Is Held in the Yangyuan Brainwashing Center

23. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Xiaojun, an Employee from the Gaoya Dianci Factory, Is Held in the City Detention Center

24. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping Held in the Dabei Women's Prison

After Ms. Gu Li and Ms. Qiu Shuping were held for eight months, officials sentenced them to three years and four years in prison, respectively. They appealed, but the officials in the Dalian City Intermediate Court rejected the appeals and upheld the original sentence.

They were sent into the Dabei Women's Prison on December 26, 2008.

25. [Hanchuan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Aiqing Facing Illegal Trial

Personnel from the Hanchuan City Court had planned to sentence Mr. Wang Aiqing on December 12, 2008, but changed the time to 8:50 a.m. on December 26, 2008.

Personnel from the Hanchuan City 610 Office arrested Ms. Wang Aiqing, 60, on July 11, 2008. She has been held in the city No.1 Detention Center since then.

Personnel from the Jinshui District Police Department arrested Ms. Niu Chunling from Zhengzhou City on December 16, 2008. Police ransacked her home and confiscated many Dafa books and truth-clarifying CD's.

29. [Zhangye City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhang Aiying Released, but Mr. Guan Zhenlin and Mr. Ma Zhongwen Still in Detention

Ms. Zhang Aiying from Zhangye City was arrested in Linze City on November 30, 2008. She was bailed out on December 16, 2008. Mr. Ma Zhenlin and Mr. Ma Zhongwen were arrested, and Ms. Zhang is still in detention.

30. [Shandong Province] Ms. Li Yuhuan Sentenced to Two Years of Forced Labor

Ms. Li Yuhuan, 54 years old, is a practitioner from Tulihe Town, Yakeshi City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. She is a former teacher from the Forestry Bureau No.2 Primary School and lives in Weihai City, Shandong Province. Personnel from the city Domestic Security Division arrested her and put her into the city detention center. The police ransacked her home at 10:00 p.m. that night. Liu Jie, the city 610 Office head, notified Ms. Li's family that she had been sentenced to two years of forced labor. She was put into the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province on November 21, 2008.
