Persecution in Mian County, Shaanxi Province

September 18, 2008 |

(Clearwisdom.net) Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed article that appeared on the Minghui.org website (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

Officers from Mian County Police Department, the 610 Office and the Domestic Security Division in Shaanxi Province have arbitrarily ransacked Falun Gong practitioners' homes since the persecution began in 1999. They follow practitioners and extort huge sums of money from them. They force practitioners to undergo brainwashing and torture them with sleep deprivation, cuffing and shackling them to metal chairs and other devices. They file false charges against the practitioners: 30 were sent to forced labor camps and two were sentenced to heavy prison terms as a result (one was sentenced to seven years and the other to four years). Many practitioners are barbarically abused in prisons and forced labor camps and hover near death. One practitioner died from mistreatment, six were forced to divorce, three practitioners' fathers were so frightened and in so much grief that they passed away.

A group of officers from the Mian County Police Department arrested practitioner Xue Lijun, a doctor at the Mian County Women's and Children's Clinic on July 3, 2007, and took her to the Huangsha Police Station. They ransacked her home and took many of her private belongings and later transferred her to Mian County Detention Center and tortured her. They did not let her sleep for two days and would not give her any food or water for seven days. She eventually had a stroke. The officials told her family to take her home so they could shirk responsibility. Xue Lijun gradually recovered but someone on the clinic board of directors refused to let her return to work. As the family's sole breadwinner, her job loss plunged them into destitution.

Officers from the Mian County Police Department arrested Zhao Xia, an employee of the Chenggu County Archive Bureau in Shaanxi Province, in September 2007. They hung her up and beat her for one day. Hu Junjian, a "610 Office" agent, led the arrest. She is now being held in Chenggu County.

The police arrested handicapped practitioner Gong Ling from her home in Xinjiezi Town, Mian County, Shaanxi Province in May 2008 and ransacked her home. She is still incarcerated.

Officers from the Wuhou Police Station arrested retiree Ms. Fang Qingxiang at 11 am on July 8, 2008, and held her at a detention center where she remains to this day.
