(Clearwisdom.net) On August 19, 2008, Ms. Wu Meiyan died after nine years of severe persecution. Her 76-year-old mother is still detained for practicing Falun Gong, and her husband, also a practitioner, has been locked up in Jiamusi City Prison for nearly seven years, and is still not aware of the death of his wife.

Ms. Wu Meiyan was employed by the Archive Department at the Hegang City No. Thirteen (Military) Factory. In 1994, she was diagnosed with oral cancer. Ms Wu then started reading Zhuan Falun, and before she finished reading the book, her cancer had disappeared. From then on, she continued to elevate her mind and body by practicing Falun Dafa. On July 20, 1999, the Communist Party started its vicious persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Wu Meiyan was arrested and detained in Hegang City's First Detention Center from February 5 to September 11, 2000.
On April 21, 2002, she was arrested again, and detained at Hegang City Second Detention Center. In May 2002, guards (all male) shackled 50 female practitioners' ankles and wrists together with 2.5-foot long metal bars. They couldn't stand up or lie down because of this. They were not allowed to close their eyes, otherwise the prisoners who were assigned to watch them would hit them with shoe soles, clubs, or pour cold water on them. All 50 practitioners, including Ms. Wu, were subjected to this torture even while eating. They had to eat on the floor with both of their legs spread apart. When they had to relieve themselves, three prisoners would lift their bodies up to allow them to go on the floor, and remove the excrement afterward, without actually cleaning the floor. Many ladies' buttocks became covered with festering sores. When Ms. Wu Meiyan was released from this torture, her mind was no longer clear, and her buttocks still had scars up until the day she passed away.
In 2002, Ms. Wu's husband was sentenced to nine years in prison, and charged with the "crime" of tapping into the TV system to broadcast the truth about Falun Gong. Ms. Wu was also sentenced to three years in prison. Her husband has been jailed in Jiamusi City Prison, and she was jailed in Heilongjiang Province Women's Prison in Harbin City. She was subjected to unimaginable tortures during those three years.
In September 2003, while Ms. Wu was detained in the Eighth Ward, the practitioners had group exercise to protest the persecution. For this they were tied with ropes to the head of their beds, and made to sit on the floor. Warden Zhang Chunhua kicked them in their faces, all over their bodies, and stomped on their feet while wearing high heels. Prisoners were encouraged to brutally punch and kick practitioners. After torturing them like this for two whole days, on September 8, 2003, the prison director organized more than 40 guards and officers from all offices join in the tortures together. They first tricked practitioners into going to an empty piece of ground in front of the male prison cells, and then forced the practitioners to run in a circle. More than 40 officers and guards standing outside the circle held batons, electric batons, cuffs, sticks, bamboo sticks, white plastic tubes, and half-filled water bottles. They hit practitioners as they ran by them. If a practitioners ran slower, she would be hit more. Regardless of age, old or young, sick or well, all were forced to run. If any practitioners passed out or collapsed, a clinic employee would force-feed her with drugs on the spot until the practitioner regained consciousness, then force her to run again. Those who could no longer run were forced to squat holding their heads, or "riding an airplane" (1) while being shocked with electric batons. After such a day, practitioners were deprived of drinking water, and they still had to face a horrifying night - prisoners call it "demon pass." Some prisoners were incited to make sure practitioners didn't go to sleep, they would pry open their eye lids with toothpicks, and shoot water into their eyes, or poke a needle into their feet or toes, and use wooden boards hit them in the face or mouth. Prisoners used a six-foot-long bamboo stick to beat whoever dared to go to sleep. After 11 days of such inhuman torture, Ms. Wu Meiyan and some other practitioners' minds had become foggy.
On March 10, 2004, more than twenty practitioners protested being locked in a small cell (2) by refusing to wear the prison uniforms. Guard Zhang Chunhua took more than twenty prisoners, stripped practitioners in the cell, humiliating Ms. Wu Meiyan and others.
Ms. Wu Meiyan's stomach was bleeding due to brutal force-feeding. She also coughed up blood, and was very emaciated. She weighed 140 pounds before entering prison, and less than 100 pounds at the time of her release. She had difficulty breathing. Doctors found that she only had one working lung, with two holes on the remaining lung. The prison didn't allow her to be treated at all during the three-year term. Many hospitals refused to accept her for treatment, because her condition was incurable.
Ms. Wu's home no longer existed after these three years in prison. Her husband was still in prison, her 16-year-old child was living at a relatives' home, all her family belongings had been stolen, and her house was sold at a very low price. Her younger sister came from a far away city to take her to her home, and she said, "My sister's oral cancer was cured by practicing Falun Gong. She can recover again." After eight months in her sister's home, Ms. Wu Meiyan truly recovered, and her weight increased to 110 pounds, and her energy came back, so she returned to Hegang City.
The police in Hegang City began a new round of persecution using the Olympics as an excuse. They repeatedly harassed, threatened, and arrested all practitioners that they knew of. Ms. Wu Meiyan's 76-year-old mother was arrested at home, and the police stole all of their belongings, no matter whether they were related to Falun Gong or not.The police said they would not release her mother because she had Falun Dafa books in her home, and she declared that she is still practicing Falun Gong, which is "against the law." Although there is no such law, they said, "Upper levels don't allow anyone to practice, so whoever dares to practice is violating the law."
After being threatened and harassed, Ms. Wu Meiyan almost mentally collapsed. She begged to be allowed to see her husband once more, but Jiamusi Prison authorities refused her request, using the excuse of "Olympic security." Ms. Wu had no resources to live on. Her husband has been in prison for such a long time, her mother had also been arrested, and the police stole almost all their possessions. Under such pressure of financial, spiritual, and mental persecution, Ms. Wu's health was in crisis. She died on August 19, 2008.

(1) Riding an airplane - In this torture, the head is bent down until it cannot go down any further, while the hands are pulled up and held up to the highest point. One is forced to keep this position unchanged for a long time. The body in this position looks like the shape of an airplane, which is what this torture is named after. (2) Small cell - The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners hand behind their backs in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp with no sunlight. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night, rats often scurry about the cell. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
(Clearwisdom.net) When I was being held in Kaiping Forced Labor Camp, Tangshan City, Hebei Province, there were many other detainees. On the ground floor were common criminals who were there for so-called "re-education through forced labor." On the second floor were Falun Gong practitioners divided into ten groups. On the third floor were steadfast practitioners who were held separately. In each room, one practitioner was watched by two common criminals. The labor camp designated special personnel to deliver food and water to them because these practitioners were isolated from the outside world. I often saw common criminals holding basins of darkish fluid and prison doctors carrying lots of tubes. The doctors and criminals took these items to the third floor to force feed these practitioners.
Brainwashing with Lies
When practitioners first arrived at the forced labor camp they were all held in a very small, dark room. There was one such room on each side of the passageway that a team leader on each floor would pass. The one on the west side was a monitoring room where a row of monitoring facilities was located. There was a temporary bed board on the floor and not much room left. Guards would attempt to force a practitioner that was held in this room to denounce Falun Gong. Practitioners suffered from brainwashing during the day and were deprived of sleep at night. Worse still, they were not allowed to go to the bathroom. It is said that this method of torture was introduced by Division Leader Wang Yan and a group of collaborators and learned the torture method from Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.
The room on the east side was barely big enough for four single beds. It was very dark inside so the light was always on. Two detainees were assigned to watch the practitioners 24 hours a day. This room did not share the same corridor entrance and the practitioners inside could rarely talk to anyone. The only people who went in there were collaborators that attempted to brainwash practitioners and force them to renounce their beliefs. This was arranged by the division leader. Normally, the first one chosen to try to brainwash a practitioner lived in the same province as the practitioner. This was done to give the practitioners the impression that their monitors were "close" to them so as to make the practitioners less vigilant. The authorities then figured out which of their pawns the practitioner liked or disliked. Gradually they paired the two together to attempt to brainwash the practitioner more and more.
Since I did not study the Fa well, I failed to notice that what these collaborators said was out of context, and I believed it as the truth. They lied and said that if we renounced our belief in Falun Dafa, we would be admitted to a session. They went on to describe how good the class was and how good it would be for us to share with each other and upgrade ourselves together in the class. I thought about it recently and it sounds very absurd. Many of the newly arrived practitioners were tricked by these lies and began to renounce Falun Dafa three to five days after their arrival. After this happened, they would be brainwashed bit by bit.
Actually entering the brainwashing session, however, the situation was totally different from what they told us. We were told that we must not mention anything related to Falun Dafa, saying that we needed to cultivate it in our hearts instead of openly talking about it. Nor could we study the Fa, share, or practice the exercises together. The division leader arranged which people could eat, sleep, and the share the same room with you. There were two common criminals on duty in the corridor 24 hours a day. Also, the division leader, Qin Xiaoyan, often monitored practitioners through the windows. She walked very quietly and sometimes she would stand there for a long time without being noticed. She wore no expression on her face, her hair was in disarray, and she looked like a ghost. I learned from other practitioners that she was very cruel to practitioners and often slapped practitioners' faces or locked them in a dark room to make them suffer in the cold. Even elderly practitioners were not exempt from such things. She lived in the city and had heating at home and at work. However, her hands were still frostbitten and she wore cotton-padded gloves all the time. We all knew that this was karmic retribution.
More Practitioners Tortured Both Physically and Mentally
The team leader in charge of each session would often question us one by one, asking whom we had spoken to and what we had talked about. We were also ordered not to to speak to certain people and that we should keep our distance from them. Many people who wanted to protect themselves seldom talked because they were afraid that they might be reported. As a result, the situation was very tense and we were all very depressed. After I was tricked in renouncing Falun Dafa, I often had dreams that I lived underneath a tomb and walked barefoot on a muddy path with maggots or disgusting monsters. One day, a practitioner quietly wrote the word "collaborators" and pointed at the people who kept an eye on me. I was really shocked. I had become more muddleheaded as the evildoers became more hypocritical, and I regretted very much what I had done. I failed to do well and let Teacher down. No words could express the pain in my heart and I often was in tears. The division leader instantly increased the supervision of practitioners in my class.
One day after lunch when I was walking out of the canteen, I saw a practitioner on the third floor shouting at the top of her lungs, "Fa-rectification period Dafa Disciples, what do you fear?" Instantly, the criminal inmates pulled her hair and dragged her backwards. They attempted to cover her mouth and crushed her hands that gripped the iron railing. The practitioner continued to shout, "Fa-rectification period Dafa Disciples, what do you fear?" Hearing this, other criminal inmates and the division leader all rushed to the third floor. She was finally dragged away and we went back silently. Many of us shed tears. I pinched my hand to try to control my emotions and not cry. After returning to my room, I covered myself with a quilt and cried.
I admired this practitioner's courage but feared for her safety. I also hated myself bitterly for taking a wrong path and for failing to rectify the Fa nobly and uprightly. At the same time, I was determined to walk the remaining path well and to not make any wrong moves. I said to myself that I must get up after the fall. I could hear the sound of torture from the third floor until after the evening news started. The following day, the criminal inmates said that the practitioner foamed at the mouth and lost consciousness several times. Division Leaders Wang Yanhua and Run Hongli, along with many common criminals, were all involved in torturing the practitioner.
Another practitioner from Langfang City, Hebei Province, was only 40 years old but due to torture, her hair turned completely white. As a result of being held in solitary confinement, she suffered from muscular atrophy and would unconsciously trip as she walked. The division leader said she pretended to do this. The practitioner was stripped of all her clothes, was tied to a bed, and was also locked up in a dark room in the male section of the forced labor camp. The windows of the room were covered with two layers of blankets so no one could see inside and she was tortured both physically and mentally. The head of the forced labor camp personally took part in torturing her. They tried to force her to give up her belief in Falun Dafa and write the Three Statements. She was on the verge of death and carried with her a will that she secretly wrote. Those involved in persecuting and torturing her included Xu Deshan (male), Ruan Daguo (male), Run Hongli, and Wang Yanhua.
One practitioner went to Tiananmen Square to unfold a banner. It was said that she was from Fengrun City, Hebei Province. When she was sent to the forced labor camp, she was in a state of shock because she had been severely beaten. She had an extremely hard time falling asleep and would talk to anyone saying, "My primordial spirit disappeared. Please help me to find my primordial spirit." The division leader said she was putting on an act. The evildoers took advantage of her condition and tricked her into writing the "Three Statements," saying that when she finished writing them they would help her find her primordial spirit. Thereafter, the practitioner suddenly disappeared. Someone said she was taken away by Run Hongli, who said that she would take her to a better place. From what Run said, it didn't sound like she would send the practitioner home. It was common practice that when someone from above came to inspect the forced labor camp, the authorities at the camp would hide those who still refused to renounce Falun Dafa and would send them back only after the inspection was over.
Suspicious Physical Examinations
One day several doctors came to the forced labor camp, saying they were going to conduct health exams. They drew a big vial of blood from each practitioner, including those who were not in good health and those who were held in small cells. There was no news after that and the results of the exams were not made public. After returning home, I heard about about the organ harvesting from living practitioners. I deduced that in the labor camp they drew our blood to match blood types. When I heard this, I became worried for other practitioners' safety.
Human Trafficking and Slave Labor
Common criminals from Beijing's Dispatch Department heard from the division leader that they were bought by the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp for 800 yuan each. The forced labor camp did not have work for the prisoners and the authorities secretly sold the prisoners to Qinghuangdao to do forced manual labor. Some of the prisoners bought themselves because they had connections. It amounted to about 1,000 yuan a month. Furthermore, they would have to pay at least 10,000 yuan a year. These government departments openly used their power to traffic in human beings for their personal profit and force them to do slave labor. They called it "reform through labor."
Our job was packing cotton swabs and manufacturing disposable chopsticks. Boxes of cotton swabs were poured onto the table to be packed into beautiful boxes with foreign languages printed on them. This was to give Chinese consumers the impression that the swabs were imported. It was printed on the box that the quantity was "100 count," but we were not allowed to put that many in the box. Even the cotton swabs that fell on the floor were picked up and packed into the boxes. The division leader even said that she would never buy these cotton swabs.
Common criminals produced the disposable chopsticks that were piled up on the floor. They had to start working before breakfast and work until late at night. The evildoers covered the canteen windows with heavy curtains but the sound of machinery could still be heard at night. When the criminals could not finish their quotas, they were not allowed to sleep nor were their terms of forced labor reduced. Some of the division leaders were extremely cruel and vicious. Among them was Xie Airu and it was said that the common criminals were all afraid of her. As a matter of fact, they were more afraid of having their terms of forced labor being extended, as no one wanted to stay in this human hell for one more day.

Mr. Long Guande used to live in Zhanjiang City, Guangdong Province, and later moved to Zhuhai City. He owned a well-known interior decorating company. After he began practicing Falun Gong in 1995, he experienced tremendous changes both physically and spiritually. Because of the persecution, however, he was compelled to close his business and go into exile.
Officers from the Guangzhou City Police Department and the Dongwan City Police Department arrested him in September 2007 and savagely beat him. Mr. Long Guande was critically injured during his arrest and is currently held at the No. 3 Detention Center in Guangzhou City. The local authorities still refuse to give him access to medical treatment, and he is fighting for his life.
1. Background of Persecution Suffered Since July 20, 1999
Practicing Falun Gong cured numerous illnesses that Mr. Long had endured. He used to lead a promiscuous life, but the practice helped him abandon his former lifestyle. He also became more generous and often helped people with his money. Zhuhai City National Security Section Head Yang Son was acquainted with Mr. Long and admitted Long had indeed changed for the better because of Falun Gong.
Before the persecution, Mr. Long had approximately 10 million Yuan [$1.25 million U.S.] in assets and had a stable and enjoyable home life. After July 20, 1999, however, Zhuhai City government officials, the police, 610 Office agents and other officials constantly harassed him. He was unable to continue his business, as he was arrested several times. and he decided to leave home. Guangdong Province Pubic Security Department officials and Zhuhai City Police Department agents issued an arrest warrant for him and also made his relatives' life very difficult.
Zhuhai City police arrested Mr. Long, his wife and their two children, both around six years of age then, on August 17, 2001. In the next few years, the family lived in exile and went through a life of fear and uncertainty.
The most recent arrest took place on September 23, 2007, when officers from the Guangzhou City Police Department and from the Dongcheng District Police Department in Dongwan City arrested Mr. Long. We do not know his current situation because the authorities refuse to let his family see him. An anonymous government official revealed to us that the police brutally beat Mr. Long during the arrest and that they have held numerous interrogation sessions.
It has been verified that as Mr. Long was leaving his home in Dongcheng District, Dongwan City at 10 a.m. on September 23, 2007, eight officers from the Guangzhou City Police Department and several plainclothes officers from the Dongcheng District Police Department approached him and began savagely beating him without saying a word.
Mr. Long's family hired lawyer Long Hangming at the end of 2007, who found out that his client had sustained severe internal organ damage. Mr. Long had vomited, coughed up blood and had blood in his stool for nearly ten days. He was in critical condition at the time.
2. Denial of medical treatment
Tianhe District Court officials in Guangzhou City held a show trial on August 4, 2008. Public prosecutor Guo Xiupeng made several unfounded charges against Mr. Long. Mr. Long related the physical abuse he had received in detention, and said that he requested a medical examination many times , but he was ignored.
One detention center official later on said that Mr. Long's skin was severely jaundiced and that he coughed almost non-stop. He also remarked on how Mr. Long was emaciated. The officials eventually sent him to the hospital after a prolonged delay. A blood test and X-ray determined that the beatings had severely injured Long's right lung and liver, leading to tissue adhesion and a partially collapsed right lung. He contracted hepatitis B and also developed a brain tumor, in addition to other complications.
According to the doctor, the hospital where Long was taken could not repair his right lung adhesion, which could lead to severe respiratory problems and even death. Right now, Long's family and friends are petitioning to have him released on medical parole so that he can go to a better hospital.
3. Threats to legal council and denial of business permit to family
Lawyer Long Hangming quit from the case after receiving threats from the local government. Mr. Long's family initially hired Long Hangming, a native of Zhanjiang City, as his defense lawyer. He truthfully reported Mr. Long's condition at the detention center to his family. Soon afterwards, authorities from the Guangdong Province National Security Bureau, the Zhanjiang City Domestic Security Bureau and the Wuzhou City Judicial Bureau threatened him and warned him "not to get involved with Falun Gong cases," or his license would be revoked. He then quit the case, fearing retaliation.
Dongcheng District Police Department agents recently stopped Dongcheng District Industry and Commerce Bureau officials from issuing a business license to Mr. Long's relatives, who fulfilled all the requirements for obtaining a license and were ready for an opening. The police also coerced his relatives to leave Dongwan. This has tremendously distressed and disrupted Long's relatives' lives.
4. Mr. Long is one of many similar cases
Over the past few years, we have confirmed many persecution cases similar to that of Mr. Long, who are suffering persecution solely for their belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Falun Gong is a spiritual belief system whose practitioners are a group of resilient, compassionate individuals that are steadfast in their faith in spite of the brutality they face.
We demand that officials at the Guangdong Provincial Government immediately release Mr. Long and compensate his family for all injuries and losses caused to them as a result of the persecution. We demand that the Communist regime immediately release all Falun Gong practitioners.
(Clearwisdom.net) At around 4:30 p.m. on August 1, 2008, police once again arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Qie Lili from Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province, as she waited for someone near the Shifuer District. The police did not have any grounds for the arrest, but acted simply because the Olympic Games were about to begin in Beijing.
Ms. Qie Lili, 30 years old, is an excellent teacher in the Shijiazhuang Xili Primary School. Her hometown is Dachexing Village, Shangzhuang Town, Luquan City. She started to practice Falun Gong in 1998. Not long afterwards, her severe sinusitis, neurasthenia, and stomach ache all disappeared without treatment. She became more energetic and worked conscientiously. Her students deeply loved her and the parents praised her.
Qie Lili continued to cultivate after the onset of the persecution. In the past nine years she was arrested six times and detained for a total of three and a half years. While in detention, she suffered many forms of torture. She also twice left home to avoid additional persecution and became destitute for a total of three years. In addition, her family had nearly 20,000 yuan extorted from them, and they lost numerous personal belongings. Her aged father died as a result of repeated police harassment, and her mother was detained for a year for seeking justice.
The following are details of what Qie Lili and her family have been subjected to over the last nine years:
After July 20, 1999, Ms. Qie was suspended from teaching and her wages were withheld. She was also had 2,000 yuan extorted from her.
On February 4, 2000, she was illegally arrested and held for 15 days in Luancheng Detention Center for participating in group Falun Gong exercises.
In April 2000, Xinghua Neighborhood Office officials extorted 2,700 yuan, when her family was already very poor.
In May 2000, while she was at work, Xinghua Neighborhood Office officials deceived her into going to the police station. She was detained for nine days but was later released after she went on a three-day hunger strike.
On November 20, 2000, Bai Yuanji from the Xinghuajie Police Station deceived Ms. Qie while she was teaching and detained her for three days. Ms. Qie was released after a three-day hunger strike.
On December 17, 2000, Qie Lili was reported while she was printing documents for an appeal. Dongjiao Police Station officials arrested her and Xinghuajie Police Station agents later took her back. She managed to escape but left home to avoid further persecution, leaving her ill and elderly father home alone.
Agents from Xinghuajie Police Station (currently known as Weimingjie Police Station) and personnel from the Xinghua Neighborhood Office went to Qie Lili's home again and again late at night. They jumped over the wall and broke in to threaten her elderly father, making his health deteriorate. In the middle of the night during the 2001 Lantern Festival, the police again broke into her home again to threaten Qie Lili's father. He was so traumatized by the invasion that he could not speak the next day and died ten days later.
On April 19, 2002, officers from the Shijiazhuang Police Department seized Ms. Qie. The police tied her to a metal chair and tortured her for six days in a row. She was not allowed to sleep and was put in handcuffs and shackles. They eventually sent her to the Hebei Province "Legal Education Center" for brainwashing. To try to force her to give up her belief, the police deprived her of sleep for 12 days in a row. They force-fed her strong liquor and put a potent essential oil containing menthol into her eyes. Their methods were extremely vicious. After being tortured like this for almost a month, she gave in. Later on she said she was so devastated that she almost had a mental collapse after being forced to give up her belief.
In August 2002, following her release after four months of brainwashing that included mental torment and physical torture, once again she became destitute. On August 29, 2002, Qie Lili's mother, Zhou Aizhen, went to the Dongjiao Police Station to seek justice and asked the police to return their bicycle, which they had confiscated. The station chief ignored her appeal and detained her in the Shijiazhuang No. 2 Detention Center for about a year. Qie Lili's family again had money extorted from them, this time 15,000 yuan.
On February 28, 2004, Xinhua District Police Department agents from Shijiazhuang City arrested Ms. Qie again, citing fabricated accusations. She was later sentenced to forced labor in Division 5 of the Shijiazhuang Forced Labor Camp.
She was subjected to inhumane abuse during her detention, and between April and May 2004, she went on a hunger strike to protest the abuse. Her blood pressure dropped to zero and she could have died at any minute. Still, female police officer Lu Hongguo force-fed her ruthlessly. She forced Qie Lili's mouth open with chopsticks and force-fed her highly salted porridge until she lost consciousness. The police then tied her spread eagle to a bed. The prison doctor inserted needles into her fingers and toes for infusions and extorted 600 yuan from her family for the cost of "treatment."
Qie Lili was often deprived of sleep for ten days in a row at a time. They only stopped this form of torture after she showed symptoms of heart disease. She was also hung up in the air, forced to stand for a long period of time, and to sit cross-legged for ten odd hours, until her legs almost became paralyzed.
It is said that agents from the ruling regime arrested more than 80 Falun Gong practitioners in Shijiazhuang using the pretext of the Olympic Games. Under the regime's rule, many Chinese people are oppressed and terrorized, not only Falun Gong practitioners but others are as well. Those in charge also block the roads and forcibly search people's bags, depriving the Chinese people of their basic human rights. The regime has used the Olympic Games as a tool to persecute people and make itself look good. Behind the superficial glamor are the tears and blood of countless people.

(Clearwisdom.net) At approximately 11:00 a.m. on August 2, 2008, eight police officers from Laishui County Police Department, Hebei Province, and Loucun Township Police Station broke into the home of Ms. Wang Xiulan, 42, a Falun Gong practitioner since 2007, of Huguozhuang Village, Loucun Township, Laishui County. They searched her home without showing any identification and confiscated Falun Dafa books, a color TV, and DVDs. They pushed Ms. Wang into the police car and took her to the Loucun Township Police Station, where she was interrogated and tortured and is currently detained.
Six police officers severely beat Ms. Wang and forced her to reveal the source of her Falun Dafa books and truth clarification materials. Police officer Guo Haining from Loucun Township used rubber batons and plastic batons to beat Ms. Wang. He slapped her face, causing extreme swelling. She was unrecognizable when she arrived at the detention center. The police officers attempted to force her to sign the interrogation notes. When she refused, a group of police officers rushed over, slapped her face, and beat her with rubber batons and wooden clubs. They also struck her back with Coca-Cola bottles full of water. As a result of the beatings, she was covered in bloody bruises. She was handcuffed, which caused her hands to swell. Food was withheld for 24 hours.
Recently, CCP officials in Laishui County held a meeting about the persecution of Falun Gong. They used the Olympics as an excuse to escalate the persecution of practitioners in Laishui County. They continued carrying out large scale arrests of practitioners. They set the arrest quota to no fewer than 300 and assigned this quota to each township, town, and district. In this new round of persecution, the Laishui County government involved the 610 Office, Public Security, the Procuratorate, the court, the judiciary system, and the radio station for the purpose of inciting the whole county to monitor practitioners and report them to police as well as carry out large scale arrests. Since June 6, dozens of practitioners have been illegally detained. Approximately 80 practitioners' homes were illegally searched and ransacked and the practitioners harassed.

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Yang Jizhi, 65, is a retired teacher from Handian Middle School. She went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong. She was subsequently detained in the Shuangcheng City Detention Center, where guards forced her to kneel down while they whipped her. Ms. Yang was later transferred to the Yaziquan Detention Center for several months, and then taken back to the Shuangcheng City Detention Center. She was detained for a total of 11 months, and released in August 2000. Ever since then she has been forced to live away from home to avoid being arrested. In 2005, she was arrested and detained in Daqing City. Her daughter Ms. Zhang Tieyan, also a practitioner, was tortured to death. The death of her daughter severely affected Ms. Yang's mental and physical health. She became very thin, and died far away from home on June 12, 2006.
Ms. Jin Chunqing, 58, was a retired employee of the Shuangcheng City Shoe Factory. She was very fortunate to have joined Master Li's Falun Dafa class held in Harbin City in 1994. The cultivation of Falun Dafa benefited her both physically and spiritually. She went to Beijing to validate Falun Dafa twice, and both times she was illegally arrested, detained, and had money extorted from her. She was later detained in the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, where guards injected an unknown substance in her. Ms. Jin nearly died in the camp due to being tortured. The camp authorities took her back home, and they deducted 2,000 yuan from her retirement salary. Upon her return home, local police and the neighborhood administration constantly came to her home to harass her. When the unknown substance injected into her took effect, Ms. Jin's mind became unclear, she would cry or laugh, could not speak clearly, and her limbs were uncoordinated. She became emaciated, and died on April 8, 2006.
(Clearwisdom.net) Between July 18 and 22, 2008, six Falun Gong practitioners in Weiyuan County, Sichuan Province, were illegally arrested and taken to Neijiang Brainwashing Center.
Fifty-year-old Ms. Liu Jianping was employed at a farm tool company in Weiyuan County. Before she practiced Falun Gong, which is a spiritual practice based on Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was tormented mentally and physically due to misfortunes at home. In 1997, she took up the practice and strove to live according to the teachings of Falun Gong. All her illnesses disappeared. After she starting practicing Falun Gong, Ms. Liu became selfless and widely known as a good person at work. Nonetheless, since July 20, 1999 (when the persecution began), Ms. Liu has been repeatedly arrested and detained by the local police simply because she steadfastly refuses to give up the practice. She was sent to Nammu Temple in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province, and persecuted twice. Her home was also closely monitored by the police. Three people over 70 years of age in her home now have no one to take care of them. In broad daylight on July 20, 2008, Ms. Liu was arrested and taken to Neijian Brainwashing Center.
Ms. Liao Qunxian, 70, suffered from various diseases before she started practicing Falun Gong. Plagued by the dizziness and nausea associated with Meniere's Syndrome, Ms. Liao was tormented almost to death. In 1997, she began to practice Dafa, and all her diseases disappeared. She and her family were happy, and her friends and relatives also observed how good the practice was through her. Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting on Falun Gong in July 1999, Ms. Liao has been detained by the local police four times. On July 18, 2008, the residence committee deceived Ms. Liao into coming to the office, claiming they needed to "check her residence booklet." She was arrested and taken to Neijain Brainwashing Center. She has since been released.
Sixty-six-year-old Ms. Chang Yujing had many illnesses before she practiced Falun Gong in 1997. She was very swollen and unable to walk. After beginning the practice, she lived according to the principles of Dafa, and shortly after that, all her illnesses disappeared. She walked as if her body was weightless. Ever since the CCP started persecuting Falun Gong, Ms. Chang has tried to clarify the truth of Dafa and the persecution by telling people about her personal experiences with the practice. She has been arrested and detained many times. On July 18, 2008, while Ms. Chang was celebrating her daughter's birthday at her home, she was arrested and taken to Neijiang Brainwashing Center. She was very steadfast and faithful to the practice, and didn't cooperate with the unreasonable demands of the police. One week later, Ms. Chang was released and went home.
Ms. Tan Fengqun, 64, was a company employee in Xinjiang Province. Because of her belief in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, she was persecuted and was forced to return to Weiyuan County, Sichuan Province. Before she practiced Falun Gong, Ms. Tan was very sick, and had lost all her hair. Doctors said that her condition was incurable. In 1997, Ms. Tan started the practice and tried to live up to the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance by letting go of her attachments. Her health soon recovered, and her hair grew back. She was very grateful to the practice and to Master for giving her a second life, and she was determined to stay with the practice. On July 22, 2008, a group of people who claimed they had come to check her electric meter deceived Ms. Tan into opening the door. They arrested her and took her to Neijiang Brainwashing Center. Her husband went to the brainwashing center to petition for her release every day. Zhang Bin, one of the police in the Public Security Bureau, has participated in the persecution of Falun Gong since July 20, 1999.
Sixty-five-year-old Ms. Yu is from northeast China. She had many serious illnesses before she began to practice Falun Gong. Her health soon recovered after she started the practice in 1997. Since July 20, 1999, Ms. Yu has repeatedly been arrested and detained. On July 20, 2008, she was again arrested, this time by individuals that had come to check her electric meter. She was taken to Neijian Brainwashing Center
Mr. Zhang Sange is over 60 years old. He started practicing Falun Gong in 1998. He has been "illegally detained" by the police since the persecution began on July 20, 1999. On July 21, 2008, Mr. Zhang was arrested and taken to the brainwashing center for further persecution.
(Clearwisdom.net) From 2005 to 2007, at least 100 Falun Gong practitioners in Miyi County were illegally arrested and imprisoned. Zhang Wei (male) is the head of Miyi County and the Party secretary. Wang Yongxiang (male) is the director of the 610 Office and the secretary of the Politics and Law Committee. Gao Yucheng (male) is the assistant director (the Politics and Law Committee deputy secretary) and Li Guohong (male) is the police chief. These men are directly responsible for homes being ransacked, practitioners sent to brainwashing centers and money being extorted from innocent people. Many of the practitioners were illegally sentenced to prison or forced labor. From the beginning of 2008, the Miyi local government has strengthened the persecution against Falun Gong using "safeguarding the Olympics" as the excuse.
On January 11, 2008, Lu Chengjun (male) and other officers from Xiaojie Police Station went to search practitioner Ms. Cai Huilian's home in Baima Town. They forced Ms. Cai and her husband into a police car and took them back to the police station. Ms. Cai's husband, Mr. Li Jiaming, was released the same day. Ms. Cai Huilian was detained for 14 days.
Also on January 11, a group of seven people led by Deng Dingyin (male) from Binggu Town ransacked practitioner Mr. Li Yongquan's home. The group included officers from the Miyi Domestic Security Division and Tian Weixin (male) from the Binggu Police Station. They did not find anything, but still detained Mr. Li Yongquan for 13 days. He was brutally persecuted in detention.
On March 4, 2008, practitioners from Baima Town, Ms. Song Xuemei, Ms. Cai Huilian, and Ms. Gu Xingfeng, were arrested and detained at Miyi Domestic Security Division. They were later transferred to Miyi Detention Center and detained for one month.
On May 22, 2008, practitioners Ms. Hu Xingyu, Ms. Jue Fafeng, and Ms. Gao Longying were arrested by Miyi Domestic Security Division officers and detained for one month. Zhou Lin (male) led a group of people to ransack their homes.
On July 30, 2008, officers from the Miyi County Police Department, the Domestic Security Division and local police stations began making mass arrests of all practitioners within the county. Dozens of homes were ransacked, and many practitioners were arrested. Those whose names are currently known include: Ms. Yang Xingmei, Mr. Yang Shunfa, Ms. Chang Lianmei, Mr. Shen Dezhi, Ms. Peng Qionglian, Ms. Luo Jiaying, Ms. Bai Zhaoxia, Ms. Wang Guoqiong, Mr. Mao Jianping, Ms. Yu Lan and Mr. Yang Fuzhong (married couple), Ms. Hu Shaohui, Ms. Zhang Kaiqin, Ms. Gu Xingfeng, Ms. Cai Huilian, Mr. Zhang Zhenghuan, Mr. Zhang Zhengchao, Ms. Yao Yuanfang, Mr. Xiong Xuecai, Ms. Xian Chaozhen, Ms. Zhang Jiahui and Ms. Song Xuemei. The police took away their ID cards and their household registrations. They have lost their freedom and many have been detained in detention centers and brainwashing centers.

(Clearwisdom.net) In the months leading up to the Beijing Olympic Games, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) intensified its persecution of Falun Gong. Many practitioners were arrested just in the Datong Area of Shanxi Province alone.
At 2 p.m. on June 17, 2008, Mr. Liu Zhencheng from Situanbao Village, Youzhai Town, Yanggao County, Datong City, was arrested and taken from his home. The police also searched his home. Now he is detained in the Yanggao County Detention Center.
Ms. Liu Xiuqing is an employee of the Chemical Factory of Tongmei Group, Datong City Coal Mining Administration. On June 24, 2008, the Olympic torch was passed to Datong City. Prior to that day, she was under surveillance. She was arrested that day and held in a detention center in her place of employment. Now Ms. Liu has been sent to a forced labor camp.
Ms. Zhang Yueying, 74 years old, is a retired teacher at the Datong Arts School. On the morning of June 24, 2008, she was taken to the Zhenhua Street Police Station because she advised people to read the "Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party" and quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. That evening, Ms. Zhang was transferred to Datong Detention Center.
Seventy-year-old Ms. He Guixiang is a retired teacher. On the morning of June 26, 2008, CCP personnel searched her home and took her to the Yida Police Station because she clarified the truth in the New District Park of the Coal Mining Bureau. Ms. He was then transferred to the Coal Mining Bureau Detention Center.
On the afternoon of July 10, 2008, Ms. Liang Zhuanmei went to visit her sister. When she went by the Datong Train Station, the National Security Team of Datong Railroad found Falun Gong books and truth-clarifying materials in her bags. She was arrested right then. Ms. Liang is now being detained in the Datong City First Detention Center.

(Clearwisdom.net) The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games should have been a tremendous boon for the Chinese people, but the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) turned it into a nightmare, creating only fear and disaster for the populace. The masses lack even the basics for daily life. Since mid-July, people in Zhangjiakou City and its districts and counties have been extremely jittery, skittish, and nervous. It felt like a catastrophe in the making. The patrolling police, carrying guns, positioned themselves along the main roads. In some counties, hundreds of police officers roamed the streets, claiming they were ordered to "safeguard the Olympic and prevent the formation of mobs." What has been learned is that the CCP has intensified its persecution of certain people, especially Falun Gong practitioners, just for the sake of the Olympic Games.
I. Identification a Must When Outdoors
From the beginning of July, city administrative staff were ordered to monitor county residents, while county level staff were directed to monitor township residents. Besides their regular salary, these staffers have another income source--extorted funds. Check posts were set up at traffic intersections. People had to show their identification cards, no leeway given. In some counties, people could only visit if they carried an ID. At railway and bus stations, CCP officials searched passengers' bags and asked for an ID. No ID meant no boarding of the bus or train. There were people hired monitors on important roadways and entrances to townships and villages, all employed by the CCP. Anyone with a package or bag was searched. People who wore glasses had to take them off for inspection and those carrying a water bottle had to take a sip to ensure it was water.
Even friends or relatives of residents in the village were not allowed to enter without IDs, even if the village officers knew them. In some towns and townships, people who wanted to visit had to carry not only an ID, but also two governmental-level certificates, otherwise, the drivers would not let them board the bus or train. If anything was wrong with any of the legal documents, the driver was fined between 5,000 and 20,000 yuan and the vehicle confiscated. In Zhangjiakou City, those that prowled the streets and were hired by the CCP wore a red band around their arms. Someone had to be on duty around the clock.
Employees and everyone entering big malls, stores and residential communities had to show their IDs. Vendors were not allowed to go to Beijing to pick up merchandise. Laborers who worked in Beijing were forced to leave and had to return to wherever they came from. Drivers who filled their cars at gas stations had to register and present an ID. Despite these procedures, they had to wait for several hours before filling their gas tanks and it appears that gas has been rationed. Moreover, the price of gas has increased sharply. In some areas, vegetable vendors were not allowed to sell their wares on the street. Residents had to go quite some way to buy vegetables. Shop owners had to close their stores. Some were ordered to put a note on the door that said, "Closed for renovations." Many houses were torn down. People are still looking everywhere for housing. Moreover, people were forced to get temporary residential cards.
On July 10, city kindergartens, primary schools, middle schools, and high schools were ordered to be closed, and students could not take their exams. It was rumored that on July 8, higher level officials notified school administrations to close up shop beginning July 10. We don't know yet if the order came from from the provincial or central governmental level.
People in Zhangjiakou City were under a lot of stress because of the CCP directives, which inconvenienced people greatly. Some people were arrested by plainclothes police who extorted money because these people had complained a little about the Olympics in public, mostly because of long waiting periods and inconveniences.
II. Arrests and Harassment of Falun Gong Practitioners
Beginning in June 2008, police officers in Zhangjiakou City, districts, and counties started to routinely harass and arrest practitioners. They also ordered management where practitioners worked and township and village officials to confiscate practitioners' IDs. They also arranged for many people to monitor practitioners. This is a serious violation of basic human rights.
Beginning in July 2008, officials from the Zhanjiakou Municipal and Country Committee, 610 Office, and Political and Judiciary Committee held many meetings, assigning various tasks to the city, districts, counties, townships, towns, and other unit officers. They decided to hold brainwashing sessions for practitioners, as they were afraid that practitioners would demonstrate during the Olympic Games. This gag order is in effect until October.
Practitioners that are full-time employees were monitored, and temporary employees were laid off. In some counties, practitioners who worked outside their homes or stayed at the homes of their relatives were taken back to their home base. Zhao Zhanhua, secretary of the County Committee, and Guo Wenkui, secretary of the Political and Judiciary Committee in Chicheng, Zhangjiakou City, announced on television "Beat Falun Gong practitioners fiercely. Arrest practitioners and sentence them to prison terms whenever necessary. Do not treat them leniently!"
Some officials involved in the persecution are classmates or relatives of the practitioners. It is farming season now. The CCP officials do not care whether practitioners need to tend to their farms. They detain them, no matter what. It is a great waste of time, manpower, and money. Informants claimed that practitioners would be detained until the closing of the Olympic Games. We fear that production from the farms this year will be reduced greatly.
Officials from the county CCP Committee of Sanfang Township and Huaxiaoying Town, police from the local police station, as well as officials from the Village Committee arrested seven practitioners from Huaxiaoying Town, Yangyuan County. They gained entry to the homes of practitioners through deceit or by breaking in the doors. They had no arrest warrants and didn't show any ID. They arrested practitioners and took them to Zhangjiakou Brainwashing Center. Most of the practitioners were not dressed properly for leaving the house. The practitioners could not be found when relatives wanted to see them in the police station.
In the evening on July 23 and the afternoon of July 24, many practitioners were arrested in Zhangjiakou and many of their homes were ransacked. The police did not care if they had to take care of the elderly, babies or children. They just took the little ones to one of the neighbors.
On July 25, officials from Wanquan County, Zhangjiakou, conducted another mass arrest of practitioners. Four practitioners from Kongjiazhuang Town, Wanquan County, have been arrested. In other townships and towns, officials broke into the homes of practitioners after midnight and ransacked their homes. They confiscated practitioners' belongings. It is rumored that on the evening of July 25, more than 20 practitioners (we will provide names later) were arrested in some townships and towns. At present, all practitioners who haven't been arrested are being monitored. It is still being investigated as to how many practitioners were arrested in Wanquan County on July 25.
On July 25, officials from the 610 Office and officers from Guyuan County, Zhangjiakou City, arrested many practitioners and sent them to brainwashing sessions at a location near Xiaohezi. Ms. Li Guiling, Ms. Zhang Fengli, Mr. Sun Runtao from Huanggainao, Xiao Zhanping from the Communication Bureau, an unknown elder practitioner from Sirenwa, Shan Dianhe, and Ms. Wang Yulian are imprisoned in Zhangjiakou Brainwashing Center. All practitioners from Guyuan County were forced to turn in their IDs. Those who refused were taken to a brainwashing center and it is rumored that they were transferred to detention centers in other counties. Over 30 practitioners are detained in the Guyuan Detention Center.
(Clearwisdom.net) On August 24, Falun Gong practitioners from Japan held a parade in Sendai to expose the brutal persecution. It was raining, but the parade still attracted many people.

The Divine Land Marching Band led the parade. Practitioners held banners that read, "Stop the Persecution," "Falun Dafa Is Good," and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance." Many people on the street and in the stores stopped to watch the parade. Many of them accepted truth-clarifying materials. After learning more about the persecution of Falun Gong, many people encouraged the practitioners to keep up their efforts.
A Japanese couple watched the parade from the beginning to the end. They had learned about the persecution from the Internet, but it was their first time watching a Falun Gong parade. They expressed their best wishes to practitioners.
Mr. Lu, a Chinese gentleman, said: "For their belief, so many people walked in the rain for such a long time. I am really touched. Not everybody can do this. This is the power of belief."
Ms. Zhang, a practitioner, moved from China not long ago. She said: "Falun Gong practitioners have freedom in Japan. It is very different from China."
Mr. Pan, a new practitioner, participated in the parade. He said: "We walked for one and a half hours, and all of us are soaking wet. I am very touched by my fellow practitioners. I hope the parade can raise awareness of the persecution and make Japanese people see the Communist Party's threat to peace in the world. I hope we can hold more events like this in the future, and more people can join us."
(Clearwisdom.net) On August 23 and 24, Falun Gong practitioners from the Bay Area of California attended an annual festival in Oakland. At this event, many tourists learned the truth about the persecution.

Clarifying the truth about Falun Gong
Mr. Zhang, a computer engineer and a Falun Gong practitioner, brought his children to the festival and passed out many truth-clarifying materials. He said that although he is very busy, he still wanted to come here to expose the persecution. When he thought about the people who are being tortured in China, he could not stay home. "I want people to know the evil nature of the Communist Party and the truth about Falun Gong," he said.
A woman from Hayward, who came to the practitioners' booth at the same festival several years ago, came again this year. She asked if the situation was getting better. When she learned that more than 8000 practitioners were arrested before and during the Olympics, she was shocked. "I knew about the persecution, but I didn't know it was so severe," she said.
Ms. Liu, a tourist from China, passed by the practitioners' booth. When she tried to accept practitioners' informational materials, somebody threatened her, saying that if she accepted them, she would be arrested when she returned to China. Ms. Liu became angry. She said that the Communist Party is evil, and she quit the Communist Youth Association.
An elderly Chinese couple told practitioners that they read the Epoch Times every day, and recommended it to their friends because it is fair and truthful.
Some people had never heard about Falun Gong. Karen of Berkley learned about Falun Gong and expressed interest in learning. She wished practitioners the best. Several local people were horrified by the brutal persecution, and said that the American government should exert more pressure on the Chinese government to improve the human rights situation in China.
(Clearwisdom.net) On August 23, Falun Gong practitioners in Sydney were invited to take part in a local, annual multi-cultural parade. This was the fifth time that practitioners attended the event.

Over the last five years, the Falun Gong group has won awards from the local government at every parade. The local council has even passed a resolution stating that Falun Gong is welcome in the community.
This year, the Divine Land Marching Band, consisting entirely of Falun Gong practitioners, performed in the parade and played "Falun Dafa Is Good" and "The Fa Rectifies the Cosmos". They were warmly received by the local people.
(Clearwisdom.net) I began practicing Falun Gong in mid April 1998, so I can call myself a veteran practitioner. As Master's disciple, during the past decade I never allowed myself to slacken in Fa study, doing the exercises, and rescuing people by explaining the facts, regardless of the severity of the persecution.
I had practiced less than 18 months when the persecution began, but I benefited tremendously from Falun Dafa. Master has brought me back from the throes of death. I have not done much, but Master has given me more than I can ever repay. I cannot express my gratitude toward Master, even if I exhaust all the words in the world.
I want to tell of the dangerous situations I encountered during the past year while doing the three things. Because of Master's protection and because some police officers have learned the truth, I was in no real danger in the end.
I went to a local job market to clarify the truth about Falun Gong at 3:00 p.m. in late May 2007. I was explaining matters to a cab driver when a police officer appeared and asked what I was carrying in my backpack. I said, "Why do I have to tell you?" He asked me if I had ID on me. I said no. Another police officer came over and starting pulling me away, and then I saw a police car parked across the street. I realized someone had probably reported me, but my mind was extremely calm, without a trace of fear. I immediately sent righteous thoughts to eliminate the Party's evil specter and that of the old forces' black hands and rotten demons. I silently recited, "The Fa rectifies the cosmos, the evil is completely eliminated." I shouted, "Everyone, look, the police are arresting an innocent, good person again." Meanwhile, I asked Master to strengthen my divine powers. The police shoved me against the vehicle's running board. I had my back against the door and would not let them close it. A woman held my legs and tried to drag me inside, but I struggled to free myself. The police came and yanked my legs, and in the end they manhandled me into the vehicle.
The job market was only about 300 meters [984 ft] from the police department. When we arrived, the officers told me to get out. They resented that I was a bit slow, and one of them slapped my face. He tried to slap me again once I was out, but I grabbed the corner of his uniform, and two buttons popped off instantly.
We walked into the office. They tried to snatch my backpack, but I clung to it with all my might. They asked why I would not give them the Falun Gong flyers [inside the bag], I said, "I do not want you to commit crimes against Dafa, because I want you to have a bright future." They drew back and began asking for my name and home address. I didn't say anything and simply explained how I had benefited from Falun Gong. The first police officer who spoke to me in the street said, "Do you know why I didn't hit you? If I did, I would have created karma." I said, "Since you know that, you must have read Zhuan Falun. You know, Master Li tells us in the book how to be a good person, to not return a blow or an insult. We are persecuted, but Truth-Compassion-Forbearance is the law of the universe that everyone must follow."
The police officer who lost his buttons said, "Why are you talking about Truth-Compassion-Forbearance? You pulled my buttons off." I answered, "I didn't do it on purpose. You were hitting me, and I was simply reacting to it. If you can find some thread and a needle, I'll sew them on for you."
He left the room without saying anything. A tall, brawny man arrived and grabbed my bag without a word. He took the bag and everything in it. He left and returned. When he saw me standing by the door, he kicked me all the way to the opposite wall, but I felt no pain whatsoever. I knew Master was bearing the pain for me. They found a shipping slip in the bag with my name and address printed on it. They called a local police officer in charge of my precinct. When he arrived, he said to the police there, "You can do whatever you want with this case; I don't care."
The other police officers didn't expect this answer. They thought about it and then threatened to send me to a detention center. I said, "I will go home right now." One official said, "You think you can go home just because you say so?" I said, "Only what our Master says counts!" After a while, the tall man told the switchboard operator to call my family to come and take me home. I returned home at a little past 8:00 p.m.
One morning in early March I was talking to a girl selling pancakes. As I explained to her why she needed to quit the Party, five people appeared out of nowhere. One man in his early 30s stood beside me. I tried to hand him a flyer, but he refused to take it. I walked across the street to speak to a woman street sweeper and ask her to quit the Party. I also gave her a bookmark with the words "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance" on it. I kept walking and saw an old man. I greeted him, but before I could speak, the man in his 30s who had followed me and turned out to be a member of the Politics and Security Section reported me. I was again taken to the police station. They could not take my bag, so they went to my home to ransack it. They confiscated the bookmarks I had prepared for a fellow practitioner and watercolor paint. My family learned about the illegal arrest and rushed to the police station. They met a fellow practitioner on the way who asked everyone to send righteous thoughts. At 3:30 p.m. I was told I could go home.
Ten days later I was reported again when clarifying the facts to construction workers. Someone reported me again. At the police station I calmly explained why I had to do what I did. Soon I went home. I was arrested several more times but was released within a few hours each time.
The fifth time at the police station the officers asked me my name. I told them my name and residential neighborhood. One-and-half hours later the police said I could go home. During the time there I helped one officer to quit the Party.
Before the Olympics, the security officers at my work unit, through the police station, asked my son to tell me to go to my work unit. I went there and saw six police officers sitting in a conference room. On entering, I smiled at them and greeted all of them. After I sat down, the police demanded that I promise not to go out and distribute flyers or talk about Falun Gong during the Olympics. I said, "Everyone here knows me and knows what my situation was like in the past three decades. All of you have witnessed the miraculous changes in my family and my health." I explained the supernatural powers of Dafa and that practitioners do not oppose the Party or get involved in politics by asking people to quit the Party, that we are simply telling people to save their own lives before disaster strikes. What we are doing is righteous. I recited Master's verse for them:
"The Great Law looks at a person's heart
The world's people would do well to rouse
Divinity, human, ghost, animal, disintegration--
The position is decided by oneself" (Hong Yin II - "Untitled")
The division head and officers had nothing to say, so I went home without a hitch.
Several incidents have taken place, but I was always able to return safely. It's not because I'm extraordinary, it's because I have Master's Fa in my heart. Master said:
"The old forces don't dare to oppose our clarifying the truth or saving sentient beings" ("Teaching the Fa at the 2002 Fa Conference in Boston") and "You should always maintain a heart of benevolence and a mind of kindness. If you suddenly bump into a problem, you will be able to take care of it properly." (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun, 3/2000 translation version)
I remained unmoved when confronted with persecution and had no fear. I firmly believed in Master and the Fa. I believe Master is standing beside me, and I do my best to explain the facts to the police, telling them what we are doing and how they can save themselves and embrace a brilliant future. I bear no hatred or resentment toward the police and maintain a compassionate mindset. I know Master's protection and compassion were the reason for my returning home safely. Master has done everything, and that is why I was able to escape from dangerous situations without a scratch.
The Party has escalated its persecution of Falun Gong using the Olympics as a pretext. Many practitioners were arrested as a result, and the knowledge pains me. I hope my experiences might be somewhat helpful. If we remain calm when faced with persecution, then Master will make the best arrangements for everything.
Above are my cultivation experiences; please point out anything inappropriate.
(Clearwisdom.net) Clarifying the facts more broadly and in greater detail will help save more sentient beings. While overseas practitioners clarify the facts to Chinese people, besides telling them how to renounce the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its organizations, we should also tell them the true situation about Falun Dafa and the persecution of Dafa practitioners in Mainland China so the Chinese people could understand the truth and be saved. However, currently there is a lack of high-quality truth-clarification newspapers and brochures. I suggest that overseas practitioners put more focus on making and distributing these kinds of materials, including both Chinese and English versions.
Truth-clarification materials that focus on showing the goodness of Falun Dafa are the basic materials to help people to establish the right understanding of Falun Dafa, while the materials that expose the CCP's true nature have a different role and mission. These two kinds of materials are not the same and cannot be replaced by each other. The media, such as the newspaper created by Dafa practitioners, has achieved a great effect in saving sentient beings. However, the media after all cannot replace the truth-clarification materials, which can go into more depth about Falun Dafa. The materials that expose the CCP's evil nature also cannot replace materials about Falun Dafa. You might still remember that it was when many Chinese people could not directly accept the facts about Falun Gong (due to obstructions by the CCP) that Dafa practitioners published the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and initiated the movement of quitting the CCP. However, this does not mean that we no longer need materials that focus on Falun Gong. Different people need to have different materials from different angles. As Fa-rectification advances, there are more and more people who need to understand the truth about the goodness of Dafa. Therefore, we should put more focus on making materials from different angles and different levels, and neither can be neglected.
Many people, especially from the knowing side, are eager to learn directly the truth about Dafa. They want to know what Falun Dafa is really about, why Falun Dafa is good and what Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance truly means. This requires us to provide information to them with focused effort and high efficiency so they can comprehensively understand the truth about Dafa within a short period of time.
During the first several years after the persecution started, some brochures such as "The Path of Returning" produced by overseas practitioners achieved a great effect in clarifying the truth broadly and thoroughly to people overseas as well as in Mainland China. As the amount of overseas projects increased in the past years, the right focus has not been put on producing and distributing this type of truth-clarification material. It has even become very rare to see these kinds of materials. But there are still many people who are being poisoned by the CCP's propaganda and who still do not know the basic truth about Falun Gong. Considering this, some overseas practitioners produced "Minghui Weekly" Overseas Edition. This newspaper takes content from the Minghui/Clearwisdom website, including reports on the persecution in Mainland China, insights and experiences shared by practitioners, truth-clarification efforts of overseas practitioners and anti-persecution activities, reports to show the goodness of Falun Dafa and an introduction to traditional Chinese culture. Last year, some practitioners have noticed that the number of people who take Minghui Weekly in their area have increased significantly.
However, only one newspaper is far from enough. The volume and coverage of this newspaper is far from the ideal state. Certainly, this directly has to do with the lack of manpower to clarify the truth in tourist attraction areas, airports and community areas. In the meantime, it also has to do with the lack of good understanding on making such this kind of truth-clarification material. I hope practitioners from different areas consider their local situation (especially that of local Chinese people), take full advantage of the experiences (which is the wisdom and blessing that the Fa gives us) we have accumulated in the past years and produce more uplifting materials. The content of the materials need to be attractive to the readers, touching their hearts and achieving receptivity and broadening people's understanding. It should be artistic and elegant. These kinds of materials should not only be suitable for distributing in communities, shopping malls, airports, tourist attractions, and embassies, but also be proper for distribution on the Internet and via email.
I hope overseas practitioners pay more attention to this matter, and I hope practitioners from both overseas and Mainland China share their understanding and suggestions in this area.
(Clearwisdom.net) Since I began practicing Falun Dafa, whenever I've run into conflicts and tribulations, as long as I kept in mind that I am a practitioner, I have been able to pass these tests. When I interact with others, I try to hold myself to the standards of Dafa. However, only in dealing with my husband, who is also a practitioner, have I not been able to behave as a practitioner should. Sometimes my human side is very strong and I behave childishly. I can be ill-tempered and competitive towards him. Afterwards, I regret my mistakes and ask myself, would an enlightened being behave like I do? However, I could never find the determination in myself to get rid of these attachments.
Actually, I realize why I never was able to do this. I was not taking cultivation seriously enough. I had allowed my demon nature to run wild and this blocked my knowing side from rectifying the Fa. Teacher said in "Expounding on the Fa":
"Whenever a tribulation comes, you do not see it with the side of your original nature but view it completely with your human side. Evil demons then capitalize on this point and inflict endless interference and damage, leaving students in long-term tribulations."
Furthermore, I did not let go of my sentimentality towards my husband. I did not let go of it, nor did I want to. I was still attached to my happiness in the human world. I wanted a family atmosphere that was harmonious, that made me feel happy and comfortable. From this single issue I uncovered a whole host of attachments: zealotry, vanity, the competitive mentality, an attachment to comfort, pursuing being cared about, wanting to be the center of attention. All of these come from sentimentality and are rooted in selfishness. How can that be in compliance with the requirements of Dafa? And I didn't take it seriously.
I also realized that with the exception of studying the Fa together and doing the exercises, I was not treating my husband as a fellow practitioner. Cultivation penetrates everything in our daily lives. The predestined relationship between husband and wife is only formed from karmic retribution lifetime after lifetime. The predestined relationship with the Fa, however, is truly sacred and noble, worthy of being cherished. Teacher said at "Fa Teaching at the 2007 New York Fa Conference":
"Once you start to cultivate, you are fellow practitioners...That being the case, you must take seriously the problems and conflicts that emerge among you. You can't behave like ordinary people, who do whatever they want to."
Since the Fa has been explained so clearly, we should really follow it well. We must get rid of our sentimentality and treat everyone with compassion. Once we view the Fa from the right standpoint, once this righteous thought comes forth, bad notions will naturally disappear in an instant. Then our actions will be righteous.
When some practitioners share, they say, "If my husband thinks I am a great practitioner, then I am doing really well." Practitioners who fall short in this respect need to look deeply inside. Since we are able to treat others kindly, how come we cannot treat our family members the same way?

My Stubborn Brother Now Understands
My older brother was once very healthy. He weighed over 90 kilograms, and enjoyed playing basketball and soccer. In 2006, he contracted gastric carcinoma and became pale and thin in a short period of time. He lost his appetite and, at a weight of only 65 kilograms, he appeared old and feeble.
Two years ago, I went to my brother's house to tell him about Falun Dafa, and to persuade him to quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). The first time I went to his house he was smiling, but he was sarcastic in response to my words. He did not quit the CCP. The second time I went to persuade him to quit the CCP, he said to me solemnly, "I applied to be a CCP member of my own will. Now you are asking me to denounce my CCP membership and contradict myself. It's better that I do not quit." When I approached him a third time he became angry and said, "In the future, if you come here to see me, I will welcome you. However, if you come here to tell me about Falun Gong, then you'd better not come."
My brother drove me away, but I was not annoyed. I saw that he was pale and thin, so I asked him to see a doctor. He said, "Not to worry. The doctor said that it was just a large stomach ulcer."
When I returned home, I examined myself again and again. I found that I had human sentiment and was too anxious, rather than truly caring for my brother. That was why I was unsuccessful in persuading my brother to quit the CCP even after three visits.
A few days later, my brother went to the Shenyang Army General Hospital and was admitted immediately. The doctor said he needed surgery right away. By the time I arrived at Shenyang after hearing this news, the surgery was done. When I went in to see him, he looked at me feebly. I whispered in his ear with sincerity, "If you recite, 'Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance' is good, you will surely recover." He nodded.
At the same time, I sent forth righteous thoughts and cleansed the evil elements that were interfering with my brother.
Three days later I went to see him again. He said he could not be discharged from the hospital until he had regained normal stomach functioning. I was wearing a Dafa pendent necklace, and when my brother saw it he asked what it was. I told him it was the "amulet for life." My brother said he would like to have one. After wearing the necklace for one day his stomach began functioning quite normally. There were several patients who had surgery the same day as my brother, some of them younger than he. They were not able to recuperate as quickly as he. In no time his stitches were removed and he was released from the hospital.
After this experience my brother quit the CCP. He also accepted the copy of Zhuan Falun that I gave him. Now my brother has recovered very quickly. His weight has increased by more than 10 kilograms. He can now ride his bike to the market to buy groceries. I sincerely thank Teacher and Dafa from the bottom of my heart.
More People Awaken to the Truth
In order to "paint their faces with gold" by holding a "political Olympics," the CCP has used all methods and means available. All factories, mines, schools, enterprises and administrative units, as well as all streets and communities, were intimidated and disrupted by the CCP in the run-up to, and during the Olympics. The Olympic Games, which symbolize justice, peace and freedom, have been made into " The Games that Disrupt the People".
Before the Olympics Games, the privately owned enterprises in Zibo City were threatened with the discontinuation of their operations under the pressure of the higher authorities. Many meetings of various sorts took place continuously. A few days ago, during an employee meeting at a private enterprise in Zibo City, the workshop director emphasized that during the Games everyone must perform well at work. They were also told to go home and obediently watch the Games, and that they should not go out. The director also said something to slander Falun Dafa. At this time, a Dafa practitioner in this factory immediately stood up and said, "You should not slander Falun Dafa and my Master!" Immediately following him a non-practitioner employee also stood up without hesitation and said loudly, "Falun Dafa is good!" At this critical moment, this person chose to stand on the side of justice. The director was shocked and quickly changed the subject.
Later, the director went to see the Dafa practitioner and apologized to him saying, "I did not deliberately say those words. I was under pressure from the 'higher-ups.'"
(Clearwisdom.net) Today's report relates persecution incidents that took place in 30 cities or counties in 15 provinces. Twenty-eight Falun Gong practitioners were subjected to brutal mistreatment during detention, and at least 45 practitioners were "illegally arrested".

Mr. Zhuo Jiangshan, Ms. Wang Jiafang and Mr. Zhou Jianyuan were arrested on September 23, 2007. The Wuchuan City Court sentenced Mr. Zhuo to 12 years in prison, Ms. Wang to nine years, and Mr. Zhou to seven years on April 16, 2008. Mr. Zhou's family hired a lawyer to appeal for him, but the court refused the appeal.

Ms. Wang Guixin and Ms. Ai Yumei from Fanjia Village, Dixiongshan Town, Fengcheng City were recently arrested. Ms. Ai has been released because of her high blood pressure. Ms. Wang has been transferred to Shenyang City and sentenced to one year in prison.

Ms. Fan Minjie from Fushun City took a train to Shenyang City at 12:30 p.m. on August 9, 2008. Police searched her and found a copy of Zhuan Falun, and an MP3 player. The police put her in the Luotai Resort Brainwashing Center at 4:00 p.m. that day.
4. [Tianjin] Ms. Zhang Yahua Arrested
Personnel from the Lintingkou Police Station arrested Ms. Zhang Yahua from Lintingkou Town's No. 5 Division in the Baodi District, Tianjin on August 11, 2008. They also ransacked her home.

Personnel from the Jinqiao Police Station arrested Ms. Yao Bo from Dashiqiao City and ransacked Ms. Yao's home on August 7, 2008. They confiscated a computer, a printer and some truth-clarification materials. The police put her in a detention center. Mr. Yang Guoqian, Ms. Yao's husband, had been arrested seven years ago and sentenced to 10 years in prison. He is still being held in the Jinzhou City Prison.

Personnel from the Domestic Security Division arrested 70-year-old Ms. Zhang Xuezhen and ransacked her home on the night of August 7, 2008.

Police from Shandong Province arrested 40-year-old Mr. Bu Guangyang, who is a teacher at the Changshaoying Township Primary School in Huairou County, on July 2008. The arrest happened when he was traveling in Shandong Province during the summer holiday. Personnel from the county's Domestic Security Division and from the 610 Office brought Mr. Bu back to Beijing and put him in a detention center.

The police put her in the district's Diyuan Brainwashing Center and two days later they took her to the city's Shisanli Detention Center. Ms. Chen has been on a hunger strike for several days to protest the unlawful detention. The police have handcuffed and shackled her to a bed.

Personnel from the Babaishang Police Station arrested 50-year-old Ms. Ding Guiying from Chuangyezhuang Village in the Hongguang District, Daqing City at 10:00 a.m. on July 22, 2008. Ms. Ding is currently being held in a detention center.
Ms. Ding worked as a hair stylist. Officers from the Chuangye Police Station arrested her several years ago. After being released, she lived with her daughter. The arrest happened one month after she returned to her home in Chuangyezhuang Village.

13. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Recent Information about Ms. Li Wei and Her Husband
Ms. Li Wei, and her husband, Mr. Yu Shen, from the Developmental District in Qinhuangdao City, were arrested in May 2008. They are still being held in the city's No.1 Detention Center. They were recently on trial, but no verdict yet. The couple's five-year-old son is being taken care of by his grandparents. The grandmother just underwent an operation for cancer, and is still extremely weak.
14. [Nanyang City, Henan Province] Persecution of Three Practitioners
Official Li Yang from the Gaoqiu Town Government recently harassed Mr. Chen Fengming and his family. Personnel from the town's police station confiscated Mr. Chen's citizen I.D. card and sentenced him to four years of forced labor.
The Zhenping County 610 Office Deputy Head, Wang Feng, colluded with personnel from the Chengguan Town Police Station to arrest Mr. Wang Mingyao from his home on August 4, 2008. He is being held in the county detention center. Mr. Wang has been sentenced to two and a half years of forced labor.
Personnel from the Anziying Township Police Station arrested 50-year-old Ms. Geng Xiaomin on August 5, 2008. She is being held in the Nanyang City Brainwashing Center. The police also attempted to arrest 60-year-old Ms. Fan Shuzhen, but she was not at home. They ransacked Ms. Fan's home and confiscated a photograph of Master Li.

On August 10, 2008, at 8:00 a.m., a plainclothes policeman arrested 60-year-old Ms. Xiao Ziyang from Yichang City and put her in handcuffs. The arrest happened when Ms. Xiao clarified the truth about Falun Gong at a vegetable market in the Xiling District. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Four practitioners, Mr. Liu Guodong, Mr. Liu Shimin, Mr. Wang Xingkai and Ms. Li Longying from Linju County, went missing on the afternoon of August 10, 2008.

Police arrested Ms. Xiaohui and her husband Mr. Wang Junjie the night of August 10, 2008. Mr. Wang is being held in a brainwashing center.

Police arrested Ms. Ding Sujun from Zhangjiakou City at 12:00 p.m. on July 25, 2008. Her sister, Ms. Ding Suqin, was also arrested. Their current whereabouts are unknown.
25. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yang Shuqin Arrested
Ms. Yang Shuqin, 43 years old, is an employee of the Environment and Hygiene Department in Qiqihar City. Personnel from the Longsha District Police Station arrested her from her home on August 5, 2008. They confiscated a computer and a printer. She and another practitioner are being held in the city's No.1 Detention Center.
26. [Taoan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Yuankun Sentenced to One and a Half Years of Forced Labor
Police arrested 63-year-old Ms. Zhang Yuankun from her home in Taonan City and ransacked the place on June 30, 2008. Ms. Zhang was put in the Baicheng City Detention Center in Jilin Province. She was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in early August 2008, and is being held in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

Personnel from the Xinhua Street Police Station and from the Xinhua Street Administration Office followed and monitored Ms. Wang Yuzhen, Ms. Zhao Cuiwen and Ms. Jin on August 8, 2008.
29. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Chen Bingnan Sentenced to One Year of Forced Labor
Mr. Chen Bingnan was transferred from a detention center into the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp in Shandong Province for a one-year term. Police broke into his home and arrested him on July 9, 2008.
Mr. Chen's mother, Ms. Yu Guifang, the former Judicatory Bureau Deputy Chief, was also sentenced to one year of forced labor. But as she had high blood pressure and some other illnesses, officials in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp refused her admission. Ms. Yu is being held in a hospital now.
30. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] More Than 20 Practitioners from Shuangdun Town Arrested
31. [Kai County, Sichuan Province] Ms. Liao Yizhi Arrested
Personnel from the Kai County Police Department broke into Ms. Liao Yizhi's home in the Ankang Community, Hanfeng Town, Kai County, Chongqing at 5:00 A.M. on August 9, 2008. They arrested Ms. Liao and confiscated a desktop computer, a laptop computer, a printer, some Dafa books and truth-clarifying materials. She was put into the county detention center. Ms. Liao had previously been sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2002.

32. [Cangzhou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Chang Yujin Held in the Botou City Detention Center
Ms. Chang Yujin used to work in the Bo Town Financial Department in Botou City. Police arrested her on August 6, 2008. She is presently being held in the city's detention center.
33. [Chongqing] Mr. Li Minghai, Ms. Tang Jiping, Mr. Chen Dinggeng and Ms. Mu Arrested
Zhang Yongheng and four other officers from the Changtan Police Station in the Wanzhou District, Chongqing arrested Mr. Li Minghai, Ms. Tang Jiping, Mr. Chen Dinggeng and Ms. Mu on August 7, 2008. They put Mr. Li, Ms. Tang and Mr. Chen in the district's Zhoujiaba Detention Center.

34. [Hengshan City, Hunan Province] Several Practitioners Arrested and Houses Ransacked
A dozen policemen from the Hengshan City's 610 Office arrested several practitioners and ransacked their houses at 2:00 p.m., on July 24, 2008. Ms. Zou Yunxiu was working at her booth, but police arrested her and ransacked her home. Policeman Chen Xinggan put her in the Hengdong County Detention Center. Family visits are refused.
Police ransacked Ms. Wang Guihua's home and attempted to arrest her. They failed as Ms. Wang's husband came back home in time.
Police arrested Ms. Lin Huifang and ransacked her home. They put her first into the county's detention center. She has since been released.
Ms. Tang Meirong was arrested on May 22, 2008. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor on July 5, 2008. She is being held in the Baimalong Forced Labor Camp.
35. [Beijing] Three Practitioners Arrested
Police broke into Ms. Zhang's house at No.4-401, West Hujialou Street in the Chaoyang District, Beijing at 5:00 p.m., on July 29, 2008. They arrested 55-year-old Ms. Zhou Yiyan, 61-year-old Ms. Zhai Shutian, and 62-year-old Mr. Bu Ming. The police confiscated seven Dafa books, six copies of the "Minghui Weekly" and a photograph of Master Li.
36. [Beijing] Ms. Lin Lihua Arrested
Ms. Lin Lihua was arrested on July 8, 2008 and is being held in the Beijing Interrogation Division.
37. [Guangdong Province] Ms. Geng Xiuhua Arrested in Huizhou City
Ms. Geng Xiuhua is a teacher at the Aidingbao Chinese-English School in Huizhou City. Police arrested her at 9:00 a.m. on August 7, 2008. Her whereabouts are unknown.
38. [Jinzhou City, Hebei Province] Six Practitioners from Dongzhuoxiu Town Arrested
Personnel from the Dongzhuoxiu Town Police Station in Jinzhou City arrested six practitioners from Shi Village, Talu Village and Dawang Village on July 9, 2008. Ms. Wang Ruixia, in her 30s, from Shi Village was arrested at 7:00 a.m., on July 9, 2008.
The police arrested 50-year-old Ms. Yan Min, 50-year-old Ms. Wei Jingfen, 50-year-old Ms. Kang Yan and 30-year-old Ms. Zhang Pingjuan at 7:00 a.m. on July 9, 2008. They ransacked the practitioners' homes and confiscated several satellite dishes and some truth-clarification materials. They put Ms. Zhang in a brainwashing center. The other three practitioners got out of detention with the power of righteous thoughts, but they are currently homeless.
The police arrested Ms. Zhang Lingxiu from Talu Village on July 10, 2008. They confiscated a computer, a printer, a satellite dish and some truth-clarifying materials.
39. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Deng Guili and Ms. Wang Guiling Sentenced to Imprisonment Between July 28 and August 1, 2008
40. [Baishan City, Jilin Province] Repeated Arrest of Ms. Wang Zhihua
Ms. Wang Zhihua is from Shiren Town, Jiangyuan County, in Baishan City. She had been sentenced to two years of forced labor in 2006. Police arrested her again in the Xieli Primary School in Jiangyuan County three days after she was released.

Police in Bangbu City broke into several practitioners' homes and arrested them at 6:00 a.m., on July 30, 2008. The practitioners who were arrested included Ms. Zhu Lingzhi from the Longzihu District, 60-year-old Ms. Wang Suqin from the Bangshan District, 67-year-old Ms. Wei Dianzhen, 53-year-old Ms. Yu Xiaoping and 68-year-old Mr. Xia Zhongguo from the Yuhui District.
