(Clearwisdom.net) On Sunday, June 1, Falun Gong practitioners and other members of the community held a rally to support withdrawals from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and condemn the physical assaults carried out against practitioners in Flushing.

Mr. Sun, a former Chinese government official, is from Liaoning Province in China. He accepted a copy of the Epoch Times newspaper from a Falun Gong practitioner in front of the Flushing library. He thanked the practitioner and agreed to be interviewed.

"I used to be a government official in China, so I know very well about the CCP's tricks. I was in America when the CCP launched the persecution against Falun Gong. I know how the CCP operates, so I know that they launched the persecution to hold on to their power. I wanted to know more about Falun Gong, so I read a lot of materials. I learned how Falun Gong practitioners sacrifice their lives for their belief. They would not give in even if they lost their jobs. That is something I wouldn't be able to do," Mr. Sun said.

Mr. Sun said that he does not practice Falun Gong but he likes it. "I still have family in China. For their safety, I cannot have this belief. Chinese spies are everywhere. I know it because I was a government official. That is also the reason I have fears. Before I left China, the police department talked to me and threatened me not to be against the CCP in America. After I came to the U.S., I wanted to support Falun Gong and democracy activists. I think I am taking a big step and doing something just."

Talking about the assaults against practitioners in Flushing, Mr. Sun said, "Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,' so we know they would not say things like 'Heaven eliminates China.' I saw their banners. They read clearly 'Heaven eliminates the Communist Party and blesses China.' It is obvious that the whole thing was incited by the CCP. We need to recognize the fundamental characteristics of the CCP and Falun Gong. Once you know their essential characteristics, you will easily see the truth."

Mr. Sun said, "It is a good thing though, because it gives Falun Gong practitioners a good chance to tell people the facts about what happened. After those incidents, more people found out about what was happening. I also think that the American government should take some action."

"Those people who were used by the CCP are going against their conscience. No matter what you do, you should have conscience. Without conscience, you are not a human being, even if your actions aren't punished by law," said Mr. Sun. He added, "It is ridiculous to say that Falun Gong practitioners are happy about the earthquake. They believe in 'Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.' How could they feel happy about a natural disaster? It's sad that some people believe this lie."

When Mr. Sun learned that he could quit the CCP with an alias, he said, "Please publish it with the name 'Yong Sun', (Yong means 'courage' in Chinese.) My conscience and courage led me to stand up for Falun Gong."
