(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Hu Zhenru, 61 years old, is from Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. She began practicing Falun Going in 1999. On January 14, 2007, she was arrested while clarifying the truth in public. She was taken to the Jurong City Women 's Forced Labor Camp in Jiangsu Province, where she has been brutally tortured. Ms. Hu now suffers from brain damage, poor vision, and one of her ears has been torn off.
Ms. Hu Zhenru's daughter is a permanent resident of Hong Kong. Although she does not practice Falun Gong, she is supportive of her mother. She has demanded that the Chinese Communist officials release her mother immediately and has appealed to kindhearted people around the world to help rescue her mother, but to no avail. Below is a letter from Ms. Hu's daughter to the Jurong City Women's Forced Labor Camp director. The letter exposes more information about the torture that Ms. Hu was subjected to in the forced labor camp.
Director Wei Qiushun:
My name is You Juan, and I am the eldest daughter of Falun Gong practitioner Hu Zhenru. My mother is still imprisoned in Junrong Women's Forced Labor Camp, a place that illegally detains mostly Falun Gong practitioners.
On January 14, 2007, my mother was taken to Xiejiadian Police Station in Dachang Township, Nanjing City. That same afternoon, both my father and sister waited at the police station to see my mother. However, police officer Zhou Guoyi lied to them in order to get them to leave the police station. Immediately after they left, my mother was transferred to Nanjing Police Department Detention Center. Then, on February 13, the Reform-Through-Labor Committee illegally sentenced my mother to one-and-a-half years of forced labor to be served at Jurong City Women's Forced Labor Camp.
In the beginning after my mother's illegal arrest, I was constantly in touch with my family and had frequent phone conversations with Li Tingroung, Director of the Dazhang District 610 Office. At first, we took his advice that "family members must fully cooperate to help [your] mother." Now looking back, we feel stupid to have believed his lies!
My mother was brutally tortured by several immoral guards--Hong Ying, Zhou Ying, and Sun Ping. In April 2007, they subjected my mother to a series of tortures that included constantly cursing her; forcing her to sit still on a small stool, squat, and/or kneel down for long periods of time; prohibiting her from using the restroom; and depriving her of sleep and food. All of these are necessities for a human being.
Not satisfied that they had tortured her enough, they grabbed my mother by her hair and slapped her face repeatedly. Moreover, these guards instigated drug addict inmates Wang Fengying, Jin Xiaohong, Huang Yan, and others to also persecute my mother. As a result, my mother's rib was broken. However, the most despicable thing the guards did was to torture my mother by jabbing her vagina with a broom handle because they believed she would not "transform."
Due to prolonged physical and mental torture, my mother's eyesight deteriorated dramatically. She also suffers frequently from severe headaches and has many internal injuries not visible on the surface. A once healthy woman in her 60s has been tortured so brutally that she is now badly disfigured. I only want to know what a well-respected and loved mother has done to deserve such abuses.
All of this is happening in 21st Century China, a China that is promoting civilization, equality, and human rights. When President Hu Jintao and Prime Minister Wen Jiabao are telling every Chinese to develop the economy and prepare for the 2008 Olympic Games so that the world will hold China in high esteem, who can imagine that under your administration, there are people committing the most immoral, shameless, and despicable crimes?
I am angry and indignant!
One often thinks of one's family during the holidays. The Chinese New Year is around the corner. I believe you and your family are preparing for a happy celebration together. My family and I, however, will have a depressing New Year. Because of all of the above, I ask Director Wei to:
I hope Director Wei can agree my requests and reply to me by February 6. My phone number is 86-852-27297078. If it is not convenient for you to make an international call, please notify my father at 86-25-57043129. He will then let me know so that I can contact you directly. If you do not reply in time, I will then put my requests to Jiang Jinbin (Director of Provincial Reform Through Labor Bureau), Li Rucai (Director of Reform Through Labor Bureau, Provincial Ministry of Justice), and Tang Guofang (Division Chief of Education Division, Provincial Reform Through Labor Bureau). If necessary, I will appeal to all relevant agencies in the central government and the human rights organizations for help.
I hope the staff at the forced labor camps will regain their human nature, stop all the violence under your direction, and regain their consciences for the New Year.
You Juan
January 30, 2008.
(P.S. Please do not arrange for any so-called physical examination of my mother using this letter as an excuse. I am doing what a daughter should do for her mother.)
