On the evening of March 28, they held their first show in Australia at the Victorian Arts Centre in Melbourne. The show attracted many distinguished guests including congressmen, government officials, and leaders from various groups and organizations.

Ten City Mayors Attended the Show and Many Government Officials Sent Congratulations

Over 80 government officials and celebrities attended the first show in Melbourne. A VIP reception was held before the show and a congratulation letter from the chairman of Multicultural Arts Victoria was read. The VIPs expressed their good wishes for the success of the show and how much they would like to see the show. Ten city mayors from Victoria chose to attend the first show in Melbourne.

Mayor of Melton: It's Fortunate to Have a Chance to Enjoy the Great Culture

Mr. Bruce Rowan, mayor of Melton, commented that all of the dancers coordinated well and that the dances were full of meaning. He said the dances were very touching and he could really feel it. He said he always wished that people from his city could experience different cultures, and that this was a wonderful opportunity.

Mayor Rowan stated further that it is rare for him to attend such a cultural show as an audience member. He called the Divine Performing Arts a large scale activity to honor a culture. And he was very happy his citizens had this chance to attend the show.

Knowing that the Divine Performing Arts is touring over 60 cities around the world, Mayor Rowan said he hoped that the people of China would soon have the freedom to see it. He thinks this great cultural performance should be shared around the world.

Mayor Klisaris said he enjoyed the Divine Performing Arts. He found the program very thought-provoking and said that it brings hope to people. He said each program gave the audience something to aspire to.

When asked which piece was his favorite, he said the drum pieces and "Chopstick Zest" were excellent. His favorite was "Ladies of the Manchu Court." He said the women dancers who walked on high shoes were so graceful and they were the embodiment of peace.

Mayor Klisaris concluded by saying that to him every program was beautiful, colorful, and special, and it was very hard to determine which one was better. He believes everyone in the audience will have a deep impression about Chinese culture and the peacefulness of the people.

President of the National Civic Council: The Truth is Related to Everyone

Mr. Peter Westmore is the president of the National Civic Council (NCC). He attended this first show in Melbourne. Mr. Westmore said that this was the second time he had seen a Divine Performing Arts show. He said that this is the true Chinese culture, which is different from the deviated shows he saw in Beijing.

Of all the programs, Mr. Westmore liked the dance "The Risen Lotus Flower" the most. He said the dance uses a beautiful art form to tell people what's happening in China. Mr. Westmore thinks that the dance, in which Falun Gong practitioners uphold their belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" touched everyone, and it showed the courage of the Chinese people. He said that the truthful message is related to everyone, everywhere.
