(Clearwisdom.net) Note: The following is a shortened version of a longer and more detailed minghui.ca website article (Chinese version of Clearwisdom.net).

Practitioners Gao Yidong and Peng Zhenwu from Benxi City, Liaoning Province were arrested. It happened inside the Shanshui Residential Community in Xinli Village, Benxi City at around 10:00 a.m. on January 10, 2008. Officers from the Dongxing Police Department Criminal Division and local government officials broke into Gao Yidong's home at 4:00 p.m. that same day. They confiscated a computer, printer and other personal belongings. They then went to Peng Zhenwu's home and confiscated Falun Gong books and many other things. They took both practitioners to Division 2 at the Caibei Detention Center.

Guards ordered inmates Guan Guangling, Hou and others to beat Gao Yidong and slander the founder of Falun Gong. They coerced Gao to renounce his belief and did not let him sleep. Gao Yidong had difficulty walking and suffered a torture-induced stroke. The authorities reluctantly sent him to the Emergency Room at the Benxi City Red Cross Hospital. He subsequently had several further strokes. His family was told to take him home, thus the captors rid themselves of responsibilities. Officials from the justice department, the police department and the procuratorate called his family and workplace. They demanded money from his family and pressured his family and people at his workplace to issue guarantee statements on his behalf.

Practitioner Peng Zhenwu is still being held at Benxi City Detention Center, and the court is planning to sentence him to prison.
