(Clearwisdom.net) The following are some comments from audience members after they had seen the Chinese New Year Spectacular in San Francisco.
"I felt like I was in China!" "It was wonderful, it really was. It exceeded my expectations. I wasn't expecting to learn so much about the culture of China. I really liked the scenery--the backdrop--with all the photographs of China, because I hadn't seen anything like it before. And the costumes were beautiful, and I wasn't expecting as many performers as there were, or types of performances. The diversity was wonderful."
The reporter asked which program was their favorite. "I really liked the ... 'The Power of Awareness.' I don't know why." "I thought of my Chinese friends who have moved here, to America. It was just wonderful."
"I received a handout about the show at Union Square and noticed that it was affordable. The colorful handout reminded me that it was close to Chinese New Year. I'll have to have my son look into it, too. It was beautiful. All the costumes were exquisite, but it wasn't overdone. It wasn't gaudy. That backdrop really helped because it made you feel like you were in China. And I think that added a whole dimension to the performance."
Emily Bliss gave her impression of the show: "I don't think I've seen anything recently that's like this. It's nice that it's so different. It's not a play, it's not a ballet. I think what's nice about it is that it is a mixture of things and it tells stories about China. The narrators were very good, too."
She continued, "To have a narrator and all the scenery like that, it was quite unusual, very unique. It was held together by the fact that it was all about China. But the singers were like opera stars, professional singers, and dancers, too, so it was just very different. Unique, enjoyable, and beautiful." "It made me feel like I was in China."
