Ms. Qiao Huarong Abused at Hengshui City Detention Center

October 23, 2008 |

(Clearwisdom.net) According to reliable sources, Ms. Qiao Huarong was beaten as soon as she arrived at the Hengshui City Detention Center in Hebei Province. The guards shocked her with electric batons. Ms. Qiao was forced to make wreaths. Her quota was 23 wreaths a day. If she did not finish that amount during the day, she had to work into the night. Sometimes she had to work past midnight.

Before 9:00 a.m. one morning late in August, Ms. Qiao Huarong was walking back to her cell after roll call when she suddenly passed out and fell to the ground. Several people carried her to her cement bed. She did not regain consciousness. Physicians came to take her blood pressure and body temperature. Later a doctor from the No. 5 Hospital was called and her vital signs were taken. The doctor said everything was normal and left. However, Ms. Qiao's eyes remained closed and she could not speak. Physicians in the detention center brought some pills for her to take. Pan Yumei, an inmate in charge of the No. 22 Cell, and another person grabbed Ms. Qiao's by the nose and fed her the pills, but Ms. Qiao threw most of them up.

That afternoon, guards carried her out of the cell. They lied her down on the ground, and then leaned her up against the blades of a radiator. The guards shocked her feet with electric batons. Some time between 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., Ms. Qiao regained consciousness. Several practitioners and other inmates carried her to the restroom. Later, the guards told Pan Yumai to keep practitioners from helping Ms. Qiao. She had to eat and go to restroom all by herself. A few days later, she was forced to engage in forced labor again. For the first two days, her quota was reduced. But on the third day, she had to finish 23 wreathes every day.
