(Clearwisdom.net) Riley Lloyd is a physician at Northwestern Hospital in Evanston. There is a longevity center for women where he is an ob-gynecologist. This is his second year of attending the show. He came with another guest who is attending the show for the first time. The Chinese New Year Spectacular was held at Arie Crown Theater at McCormick Place on January 25-26, 2008.
"The show is spectacular, just as the name says. It is enchanting. I like all the performances, the dancers, and the drummers. The Mongolian dancers were particularly entertaining. And the tenor--his performance was phenomenal."
He hopes to go to New York and see the New York Spectacular, as that show will be a larger performance. "Hopefully, I will be able to attend that. I plan to go each year because this is one of the best performances you can go to in Midwest.
"We learn of the discipline it takes to do this kind of performing. I also learned about how this culture goes back continually for 5,000 years, and being able to see these performances today and appreciate a culture that's been going on that long, again it's just spectacular."
Regarding the persecution of spiritual practices in China, he said, "I've realized that changes need to occur. This is probably a good time to put pressure to cause those changes to occur. I am very much supportive of it."
He commented that it is important that people should understand other cultures. He said that this show brings the world's people closer and helps everyone understand that people of the world are one community so that what is happening to people in China is our concern too. As for the impact this Chinese show brings to Midwest audiences, he said, "It brings an awareness that is very much needed."
Dr. Lloyd's guest added, "It's a spectacular show. It's my first time seeing the performance and I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it for everyone, for anyone who enjoys performances. Enlightening, enchanting, new and exciting are the words to describe the show."
