1. [Chongqing] Several Practitioners Arrested; Their Homes Ransacked in August
On the morning of August 9, 2007, Zhang Yong, the Deputy Director of Gaosuntang Police Station in Wangzhou District, Chongqing, and several police officers broke into practitioner Ms. Wang Jinghui's home. They ransacked her home and confiscated Dafa books, Dafa materials and a satellite dish receiver. Since Ms. Wang refused to cooperate with them, they were not able to arrest her.
At around 11 a.m. on August 9, 2007, police officers from Zhonggulou Police Station in Wangzhou District and officials from the Zhonggulou Residential Office and local residential committee (a total of over ten people) broke into a practitioner's home. They confiscated Dafa books, Dafa materials, a tape recorder, and some tapes. Only a girl was at home at the time.
On the morning of August 11, 2007, while practitioner Ms. Wang Minghui was on her way to the market, police officer Wan Shiquan (male) and a couple of police officers from the Wanzhou District Police Department followed her and arrested her. Later, Ms. Wang openly walked out of the police department.
On the morning of August 15, 2007, police officers from Zhonggulou Police Station and officials from the Zhonggulou Residential Office and local residential committee tried to break into Ms. Yang Yuying's home. Since Ms. Yang refused to open the door, they kept pounding on the door and waited outside until evening.
2. [Dingxing County, Hebei Province] Several Practitioners Recently Sentenced to Forced Labor
Since the middle of July 2007, police from Dingxing County Police Department and officials from the Dingxing County 610 Office arrested several practitioners. Ms. Han Xuelian, Ms. Lu Wenjie, Ms. Ma Shuqin, Ms. Zhu Xiuying and Ms. Zhang Fengying were sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and are now detained in the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp.
Mr. Wang Defu, Mr. Lu Tieqiang and Mr. Yang Jiyuan are detained in the Balizhuang Forced Labor Camp in Baoding City, Hebei Province.
Ms. Zhang Xixiu and Ms. Ren Jinfeng are still detained in the detention center. Ms. Li Yinhua spat blood due to the torture and is now in the Dingxing County Hospital. Ms. Wei Lanrong, Ms. Xing Xiuping, and Ms. Shen Shumei were released.
Mr. Wang Defu and his wife, Ms. Shen Shumei, are from Xijiang Village. After they were arrested, police extorted 4,000 yuan from their family. They released Ms. Shen on July 23, 2007. Mr. Wang was sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor and is now detained in the Balizhung Forced Labor Camp.
Ms. Ren Jinfeng, her daughter-in-law, Ms. Han Xuelian, her son Mr. Lu Tieqiang, and her daughter, Ms. Lu Wenjie, are from Xijiang Village. Police arrested all four of them and detained them in the detention center. Ms. Lu is only 19 years old, and she is not a practitioner. Police ransacked their home and confiscated a computer, a printer, a TV, and two cell phones. Ms. Han, Mr. Lu and Ms. Lu have been sentenced to forced labor, and Ms. Ren is still detained in the detention center.
Police ransacked the homes of practitioners Ms. Xing Xiuping, Ms. Ma Shuqin, Mr. Yang Jiyuan, and Ms. Li Yinhua. They confiscated their satellite dishes, TVs and Dafa books. In Beitian Village, police ransacked the homes of practitioners Ms. Zhu Xiuying and Ms. Zhang Fengying. They confiscated Master's lecture CDs, Dafa truth-clarification CDs, and Dafa books, with a total value of more than 100 "yuan." Police also ransacked practitioner Ms. Wei Lanrong's home in Dongliuzhuang Village and confiscated a satellite dish and a TV.
Ren Yanjun and Zhao Guohai, officials of PinggangVillage in Gaoli Township, arrested practitioner Ms. Zhang Xixiu while she was posting truth clarification materials and took her to the police. Ms. Zhang is detained in the detention center.
3. [Tangshan City, Hebei Province] Practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaoyun Arrested
On the morning of August 21, 2007, police from the Shuiwuzhuang Police Station in Kaiping District, Tangshan City came to Ms. Liu Xiaoyun's home. They jumped the wall and broke in. Then they ransacked the house and brought Ms. Liu to the police station. Ms. Liu has been transferred to Tangshan City First Detention Center.

4. [Chongqing] Ms. Yang Changling Arrested; Her Whereabouts Unknown
Ms. Yang Changling, about 50 years old, is an employee of Chongqing Fourth Steel Factory. In the beginning of 2006, Ms. Yang was arrested and sentenced to one year of forced labor. She was released in early 2007. In June 2007, Ms. Yang was arrested again. However, her whereabouts are still unknown.
5. [Guiyang City, Guizhou Province] Practitioner Ms. Peng Zelan Arrested
On July 27, 2007, police from Touqiao Police Station in Guiyang City arrested Ms. Peng Zelan, a practitioner from Guiyang City. Ms. Peng was detained in the Baihuashan Detention Center. Police told her family that she would be released in about seven days. Seven days later, Ms. Peng's family came to take her home, but police told them to come back in 10 days. Ten days later, her family came again, however, police told them that Ms. Peng has been transferred to the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp in Guizhou Province. Her current situation is unknown.
Ms. Peng had been sentenced to three years of forced labor and detained in the Zhongba Forced Labor Camp until her release on September 19, 2005.
6. [Yingcheng City, Hubei Province] Practitioner Mr. Xiong Wende Arrested
At around 11 p.m. on August 20, 2007, Mr. Xiong Wende was walking on the street in Langjun Town, Yingcheng City when police officers on patrol arrested him and detained him in the Yingcheng City Second Detention Center.
7. [Beijing] Practitioner Ms. Deng Kuiying Sentenced to Forced Labor
Ms. Deng Kuiying worked at a daycare center in the Qinghe Area of Haidian District before she retired. In June 2007, Ms. Deng was arrested when she was distributing truth-clarification materials. She has been sentenced to two years of forced labor. Her detention location is unknown.
In 2006, Ms. Deng was arrested for distributing truth clarification materials. She was released six months later.
8. [Quyang County, Hebei Province] Practitioner Ms. Gao Jianhong Arrested
Around 10 a.m. on August 20, 2007, Ren Zhifeng, the director of the State Security Division of Quyang County Police Department, tricked practitioner Ms. Gao Jianhong, who was selling fruit in the old railway station, into going to the Quyang County Police Department. Ms Gao went there, and she was subsequently detained and transferred to the Quyang County Detention Center. There are several practitioners currently detained in this detention center.

9. [Xinxiang City, Henan Province] Practitioner Ms. Gao Sulan Sentenced to Forced Labor
On July 30, 2007, police arrested Ms. Gao Sulan, a practitioner from Xinxiang City, at her home. Ms. Gao is currently detained in the Shibalihe Women's Forced Labor Camp in Zhengzhou City, Henan Province.
10. [Longquan City, Zhejiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Shen Xiaoping Arrested
At around 9 p.m. on August 20, 2007, local police arrested Ms. Shen Xiaoping, a practitioner from Longquan City. Ms. Shen is detained in the detention center.
11. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] On August 15, 2007, Police Arrested Practitioners Mr. Huang Qiming, Ms. Shi Xiulan, and Zhu (Given Name Unknown) at Their Homes
12. [Shangqiu City, Henan Province] Practitioner Mr. Zhang Jun and Several Practitioners Sentenced
Approximately two years ago, the Liangyuan District Court in Shangqiu City sentenced practitioners Mr. Zhang Jun and Mr. Li Xinrong to four years of imprisonment each, Mr. Feng Guangrong to three years, and Mr. Tao Weijun to a two-year probation. Mr. Li appealed to the Shangqiu City Intermediate Court and requested to be released. The Shangqiu City Intermediate Court concluded that indeed the evidence was not strong enough, and requested the Liangyuan District Court to re-try the case.
On August 17, 2007, the Liangyuan District Court held a hearing again for the four practitioners after two years of their detention. The verdict will be announced in ten days.

13. [Beijing] Police from State Security Division of Huairou District Police Department Arrested Practitioner Wu Last Week
Currently, Ms. Cao Weixiang, Ms. Wei Shuqin, and several other practitioners were detained in the Huairou District Detention Center in Beijing.
Last week, police from the State Security Division of the Huairou District Police Department arrested practitioner Wu (given name unknown). The police announced that the higher level officials had ordered them to sentence all Falun Gong practitioners to three years of forced labor if they are found before the 2008 Olympic Games.
14. [Heilongjiang Province] Practitioners Brutally Persecuted in the Daqing Prison
Practitioners detained in the Second Division in the Daqing Prison were not allowed to step out of their cells. The guards tore off the practitioner's clothes then burned them. After practitioners were beaten up, the guards pushed them to the ground, forcibly shaved their heads, then sent them to solitary confinement to further torture them. Li Weilong from the Politics Division is the main perpetrator.
15. [Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province] Additional Information on Ms. Gao Yuling's Arrest
On the morning of August 17, 2007, when practitioner Ms. Gao Yuling went to the Guangming Police Department in Liaoyang City to request the return of her restaurant license and utensils that were confiscated by the police, the police detained her. Ms. Gao is detained in the Wujiawa Detention Center.
In the past several years, officials of Guangming Community and Banan Community have monitored Ms. Gao's activities. On the morning of July 24, 2007, police officer Qi Yaowu (male) went to Ms. Gao's restaurant with the excuse of "security checking." He didn't check the kitchen, but instead searched all the rooms. He found practitioners Ms. Gu Xuezhen and Ms. Wang Xiaohua and reported them to the Guangming Police Department. Police from the Guangming Police Department came and arrested the two practitioners. Ms. Gao escaped. They also confiscated the electric oven and other utensils from the restaurant. The two detained practitioners are now released.

17. [Yishui County, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhao Lanyi Tortured to Serious Condition in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp
On June 16, 2007, Ms. Zhao Lanyi, a practitioner from Zhuangke Village, Yishui County, was arrested without reason and her family wasn't notified. On July 19, 2007, police from the Yishui County Police Department sent Ms. Zhao to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp. Her family went many places to look for her and they found out a month later that she was in the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp.
In the labor camp, the camp guards and inmates tortured Ms. Zhao by depriving her of sleep, not allowing her to wash herself, and not allowing her to use the restroom. Ms. Zhao now shows severe symptoms of diabetes, and she is very weak.

18. [Mudanjiang City, Helongjiang Province] Practitioner Ms. Bai Yunxia Arrested
Ms. Bai Yunxiang, in her thirties, lives on Beian Street in Mudanjiang City and owns a small business. After her divorce, Ms. Bai and her child lived with her parents. Ms. Bai was recently arrested, and she is detained in the Mudanjiang City Second Detention Center.
19. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Hu Erjuan and Others Arrested
At around 10 a.m. on August 16, 2007, practitioner Ms. Hu Erjuan and her visiting relative were both arrested at her home. She is detained in the second office of the State Security Division, and her family member is detained in the Erqi District Detention Center.
20. [Wuping County, Fujian Province] Sisters Ms. Zhong Xiaolan and Ms. Zhong Donglan Sent to Forced Labor
Practitioners Ms. Zhong Xiaolan and her sister Ms. Zhong Donglan are both from Wuping County. They have been individually sentenced to 18 months and two years of forced labor respectively. They were taken to a labor camp in Fuzhou City on August 15, 2007.

Practitioner Ms. Yang Li lives in Banfanggou Township, Urumqii County, Urumqi City. During the Chinese New Year season in 2007, she was arrested just because she connected to Falun Dafa websites. She is still detained in Liudaowan Detention Center.
22. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Ronghong Locked Up in a Small Cell (1)
Second Ward Deputy Warden Zhu Wenwu (male) in the Daqing City Prison threatened practitioner Mr. Wang Jiang when his family was visiting. The warden forbade Mr. Li from revealing the cruel torture he went through. The flesh around Mr. Wang Jiang's ribs was bloody and swollen as the result of beating. When the swelling burst, pus and blood poured out.
At around 8 a.m. on August 7, 2007, Mr. Li Ronghong was on his way to get hot water from the boiler room. Guard Zhu Wenwu blocked his way and beat him because he reported to the Prison Administration about how Mr. Wang Jiang was being mistreated by Zhu Wenwu.

23. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Yun Qingbin Mistreated
Practitioner Mr. Yun Qingbin is from Changchun City and has been mistreated for a long time in the Jilin Prison. In order to force him to accept the brainwashing, the guards in the Education Office tortured him by repeatedly suffocating him with a plastic bag, and beating his head with a leather boot. He was in a strictly-controlled ward for three months. On the evening of July 19, 2007, he was beaten by prisoner Li Xuebing (male). Mr. Yun's situation is very worrisome.
24. [Jungar Prefecture, Inner-Mongolia Autonomous Region] Mr. Guo Jianhai and Others Sent to Forced Labor
Recently, four arrested practitioners from Jungar Prefecture were each sentenced to two years of forced labor. Among the four, Ms. Huang Zhaoxia has been taken to the Regional First Women's Labor Camp. The other three, Mr. Guo Jianhai, Mr. Qiao Gen and Mr. Fan Bawen, have been taken to the Wuyuan Labor Camp. Mr. Qiao Gen's wife, practitioner Ms. Ma Gui'e, was also arrested with them, but she was released after the police extorted more than 100,000 yuan from her. The police are constantly harassing her at home.

25. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Li Jusong and Others Missing
Practitioners Mr. Li Jusong (in his fifties), and his daughter Li Qun (in her twenties) have been missing since June 10, 2007. They have not been at their temporary living place in Zizhong County, Sichuan Province.
26. [Shijiazhuang City, Hebei Province] Ms. Wu Xiuying Mistreated by the Xinhua District 610 Office
On July 4, 2007, Xinhua District 610 Office agents arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wu Xiuying and forcibly took her to the Shigang Avenue Police Station, then had her detained in the Shijiazhuang City Second Detention Center. Her family went to the local police station to seek her release and were told she would be released in one month. However, she was not released. On August 6, 2007, four agents from the Xinhua District Police Department, the Shigang Avenue Police Station, the Zhaolingpu Police Station, and the Town Government, ransacked her home when there was only a child in the house.

Ms. Ji Guiqin lives in Heliangongfang neighborhood, Kaiping District, Tangshan City. At around 8 a.m. on August 22, 2007, she was arrested by police from the Lunan District Department when passing out truth-clarifying materials. Her home was ransacked at 3 p.m. the same day. Police did not find anything they wanted, but they still took her into custody in the Lunan District Police Department.

29. [Tianjin City] Ms. Yao Shilan Cannot Walk Due to Hunger Strike
Practitioner Ms. Yao Shilan, 57, lives in Changtun Village, Dajainchang Township in Wuqing District, Tianjin City. She is detained in the Fifth Ward of the Lingzhuangzixi Women's Prison located in Liqizhuang Neighborhood in Nankai District. She has been on hunger strike to protest the persecution and cannot walk or hold anything with her hands. Her family requested to bail her out for medical treatment, but the Prison Administration refused to release her.

30. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Many Falun Dafa Practitioners Arrested
Many Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested on August 16, 2007. Among them, several dozens have been taken to the Zhengzhou City Second Detention Center. The number of practitioners still under police custody or released after 24 hours is unknown.
On the morning of August 20, 2007, an approximately sixty-year-old practitioner (name and gender unknown) was arrested when passing out truth clarifying materials at the family housing unit of the Yutong Heavy Industrial Plant and is in the custody of the Plant Security Office.
31. [Liaxi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Guohong Arrested
At around 4 p.m. on August 21, 2007, practitioner Ms. Wang Guohong, her mother, and her daughter were working in a store. Suddenly, seven to eight police officers from the Laixi City 610 Office, the Education Office of the Police Department, and Shuiji Station stormed into the store and arrested Ms. Wang. Police pushed her mother and daughter aside and forcibly took her to the Shuji Police Station. They stole her house key from her daughter's hand and ransacked her house. The police did not permit her family to send any clothes or her missing shoe (lost during the arrest).

It has been recently learned that practitioner Mr. Zheng Qiang was arrested when writing truth-clarifying messages near the Yingkou City government. He is detained in the city's detention center. The exact date of his arrest is unknown.

Practitioner Mr. Sui Yanzhang has been detained in Changliu Detention Center since her arrest on April 19, 2007.
In order to profit, the center's administration forced labor detainees to pack toothpicks from 5:30 a.m. to midnight. Due to laboring overtime and malnutrition, prisoners have a hard time finishing the work quotas. Guards encouraged prisoners to beat Mr. Sui Yanzhang if he or even other practitioners could not finish the quota. He is as thin as a skeleton and deformed. Even his wife could not recognize him.
35. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Mr. Fang and His Wife Arrested
Practitioners Mr. Fang and his wife Ms. Meng, both in their seventies, live in Wenjia Neighborhood, Shouguang City. Around noon on August 22, 2007, a group of police stormed into their home, arrested them, and ransacked their house.

36. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Additional Information on Mr. Wang Jianmin's and His Wife's Arrests
At 8 a.m. on August 15, 2007, Mr. Wang Jianmin took his child to school, but he never returned. A little after 1 p.m. the same day, two police officers from the Chaoyang District Department and one officer from the Yihe Street Station stormed into Ms. Zhu Yali's (Mr. Wang's wife) office, arrested her, and ransacked their home.
Currently, Mr. Wang Jianmin is detained in the Changchun City Second Detention Center, and Ms. Zhu Yali is detained in the Changchun City Third Detention Center.
37. [Anshun City, Guizhou Province] Ms. Zhou Zhijun Arrested Again
Practitioner Ms. Zhou Zhijun, in her fifties, lives in the Yunma Factory Family Housing in Anshun City. She has been forcibly taken to a labor camp twice. The second time she was in forced labor, she appeared very sick due to the mistreatment she received, and she was released for medical care. She recently returned home from the hospital, but at 3 p.m. on August 18, 2007, Guizhou Province Women's Labor Camp guard Gu Xinying (female) and the Yunma Factory police forcibly took her back to the camp.

(1) The detainee is locked up in a very small cell individually. The guards handcuff practitioners on their backs in a fixed position, in which the practitioners can neither move nor lie down. The small cell is very damp and no sunlight comes in. Detainees have to urinate and defecate in the cell. Only half of a regular meal is served to detainees locked up in a small cell during the daytime. During the night the rats scurry about in the cell. The stench in the small cell is so bad that it is difficult to breathe.
