(Clearwisdom.net) Before I practiced Falun Gong, I used the Internet a lot. After six months of practicing Falun Gong, fellow practitioners asked me to join in clarifying the truth over the Internet. Since then I have not stopped using the Internet as a way to clarify the truth. The following are my experiences in spreading the truth via the Internet. If there there any mistakes, please point them out with compassion.

I feel that every truth-clarification method is not like a simple job. When doing it well, there are bound to be cultivation challenges. It is the same with clarifying the truth via the Internet. Before I became a practitioner, I thought I was quite familiar with computers. However, when I needed to use it to clarify the truth, I found what I had learned was not nearly enough. I had to keep learning--and I am still learning. To me, learning new things is a process of eliminating human notions, and I struggle every time. Before I start, there is a sense of fear. After I overcome the fear with great difficulty, laziness emerges, and I think to myself, "That's enough for today. I'll leave the rest for tomorrow." If I only learn a bit like this every day and keep delaying, then I'll waver. I'll also doubt when I can learn well, when I can use it, whether what I learn is useful, and, most painfully, whether the path I am walking is correct. Due to this incessant wavering, my faith in Dafa and understanding of Dafa have been tested.

Although I take one step at a time, I feel that I have not done well in many instances. My steps were slow and did not follow the path of Fa-rectification. Because of fear, I was one year late when I began to write software programs. After I bought a relevant tech book, it took me two and a half years to learn how to combine it with my database knowledge. I learned many things, but not in a skilled way. So when it was time to walk on the battlefield, I found I was unqualified. I can only try my best to persist, not give up so easily, and try to make what I've learned have a significant effect.

When I studied about how to facilitate network communication, I could not find anyone to ask about it, nor could I find any reference books. In order to study, I printed out the program's English instructions and carried them around with me. Because my English was not that good, I had to repeatedly read the parts that I could not understand. I tested it over and over until I found the solution. I wrote to the developer overseas to ask about issues I did not understand, but they had no experience in processing simplified and traditional Chinese characters, so I had to find out on my own. I repeatedly tried for several months, every day thinking, "If I can't get a result today, then I'll give up..." However when I turned on the computer the next day, I wanted to try again. After several months of persistence, I suddenly saw the light, and I was able to use the program well. I am writing about this not to emphasize how much I have learned, since I have merely learned how to use some things, I am writing this because I have enlightened to the understanding that how much you expend is how much you will gain. Even if you only learn a little bit, as long as you use it at the right place, it will have its effect. Accumulate bit by bit over a period of time and the accumulation will certainly play a big role.

Teacher says in Lunyu at the beginning of Zhuan Falun: "...humankind must fundamentally change its conventional thinking." I feel the process of learning is also a process of continuously changing one's prior thinking.

My previous way of thinking was akin to, "I dislike change," "I like things to stay the same way," "I do not purse perfection and just muddle along," "I am shy about things that I am not familiar with," "I dislike it when others criticize things I do," "I am unable to stand it when others are better than me," etc. As I continued to learn, I found all these were old notions that were prohibiting me from moving forward and improving. Although sometimes their manifestations are not obvious, when these thoughts emerge, we must face up to them and not regard them as part of ourselves. Only then are we are able to gradually abandon them. This following situation often occurs: Fellow practitioners want to do such and such. I comply, and after I finish the program, fellow practitioners say it is not easy to use or it doesn't look good. My heart is moved and I give up, saying, "Never mind, you can make a better one yourself." Actually when fellow practitioners make this kind of comment, aren't they hoping to do things even better? When I tried it myself, I also found it truly not easy to use and not explained clearly. Only then did I know that my understanding was not complete nor sufficient. Another situation that easily produces conflict is when a practitioner looks at another's' shortcomings, especially when he always focuses on and always remember others' shortcomings, to the extent that he ignores others' good points. Maybe some people don't realize it, but this creates an attachment to judging people, to forming an opinion about other practitioners in advance. Actually, this conflict should not exist.

To clarify the truth well via a network, we need to keep abreast of new technology, new environments, and the new Fa-rectification process. I know some practitioners are hesitant about using a computer in the beginning, or they think they only need to cooperate with each other, and that there is no need to learn further. I'd like to share a short story with you. Before I practiced Falun Gong, I enjoyed running. On a section of mountain road where I ran frequently, a pack of wild dogs often appeared. Once I got extremely tired running up the mountain. I thought I had no way to maintain my speed, so I decided to slowly jog--going just fast enough so that one foot was always off the ground. As a result, a wild dog came at me and bit my leg. I was frightened, and ran down the mountain so fast that I couldn't even believe it myself. I ran all the way home.

This short story is mainly to remind us that human potential is enormous. Even a non-practitioner can have unbelievable, untapped potential. Since this is the case, then why can't one practitioner do the work of ten--or a hundred--in assisting Teacher in Fa-rectification? My understanding is that we must first eradicate our old thinking and notions. In fact, many difficulties and conflicts are only our imaginations. If we do not improve our xinxing, then difficulties and conflicts will seem as high as a mountain. If we let go of human notions, difficulties and conflicts can be overcome easily.

Finally, I want to share a bit of my understanding about clarifying the truth on the Internet. I've found that along with popularization of the Internet, applications for networking among people have become more rich. Channels for clarifying the truth on the Internet have become more available, and there are now a greater number of ways to clarify the truth. Each of the various ways represent chances for the knowing sides of sentient beings to find us, listen to the truth, and obtain salvation. They are also opportunities for Dafa practitioners to walk our own paths and establish our own mighty virtue.

Despite this positive situation, the number of people withdrawing from the CCP has not increased significantly and is far from reaching Teacher's Fa-rectification requirements. Some practitioners say, "Improve xinxing and the number of people quitting will increase." My personal understanding is that improving xinxing is not about merely studying the Fa at home. Since Dafa cultivation does not abandon ordinary society by going to remote mountains and ancient forests, we regard the entire human society as a big practice field. I understand we need to improve xinxing while doing the three things, and improve xinxing while solidly practicing in ordinary human society.

Teacher said in "Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital" in 2006:

"...but if the Dafa disciples don't all clarify the truth to individual people, or clarify the truth to society, then as for the process of ordinary people's minds being transformed at the surface level, that's not something gods will do for them on an individual basis. So things that involve the surface level of human beings have to be done by Dafa disciples."

"But you have to carry it out, and it doesn't work if you're not out there doing things." ("Teaching the Fa at the Fa Conference at the U.S. Capital")

I understand that we must do the three things well, more extensively and in more depth, especially in regards to truth-clarification. While solidly doing things, we improve our xinxing, so more people can quit the CCP quickly and be saved. I also encourage myself to strive for perfection together with fellow practitioners as we enhance truth-clarification on the Internet. Together we can accomplish the mission of assisting Teacher in Fa-rectification to help more people who are deceived by the evil Party wake up and obtain salvation.
