"The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese festival, celebrating good harvests and family gatherings. Many Chinese people live outside of China for years and miss relatives and friends even more during the festival," said Mr. Zhang. "At the coming of the festival, we invited Divine Performing Arts to come to Toronto from New York to perform for Chinese and Western audiences."
Divine Performing Arts conducted a global tour of the 2007 New Year Spectacular in more than thirty cities in North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. It presented more than seventy performances to more than 200,000 people.
The Divine Performing Arts presents a profound connotation of Chinese traditional culture and promotes communication between different cultures.
Mr. Zhang said that wherever it went, Divine Performing Arts was praised and welcomed. It was also honored with numerous awards. Last February in New York, Divine Performing Arts received nearly four hundred congratulatory letters from political leaders and renowned figures across the world.
The Chinese New Year Spectacular by Divine Performing Arts touched audiences of different ethnicities, many of whom were moved to tears. Many audience members expressed that the performance helped people not only to enjoy art, but also to obtain purification of mind and elevation of spirit.
Li Jiwei from Toronto, who attended the last performance held there by Divine Performing Arts, said, "Watching such a high-level performance outside China, I am proud as a Chinese. I had the feeling of returning home. I look forward to the Mid-Autumn Festival Gala."
