Villagers Who Support Justice Threatened in Liaoning Province

June 14, 2007 |

(Clearwisdom.net)

On May 1, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Jing Yongan from Daolan Village, Kangping Township, Kangping County, Liaoning Province, was illegally arrested by police because he hung a truth clarification banner. Mr. Jing is now being detained. Villagers from Daolan Village wrote a letter to higher officials to plead for Mr. Jing's release. In response, the Politics and Law Enforcement Office and 610 Office of Kangping County went to the village to "investigate" the case and threatened the villagers for trying to support justice.

Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials told local villagers that "higher officials" said this case has been published on the Clearwisdom website and now the whole world knows that Daolan Village is a "Falun Gong village" and that all 487 people who signed the letter are Falun Gong practitioners. They said this is is a serious problem for them since the authorities are supposed to be actively persecuting Falun Gong. The officials demanded that everybody pay a 500 yuan fine or face arrest.

What the CCP officials said put great pressure on the villagers who signed the letter and caused chaos in the village. Some villagers even told Mr. Jing Yongan's wife, "You will be responsible if anything bad happens to us."

Mr. Jing's family has already been hurt by his detention. They are now in an even worse situation due to official pressure and incriminations by some of the villagers. When family members of Mr. Jing went to the police station and asked for his release, the director of public security threatened, "We will release him if you tell me who told the editors of the Clearwisdom website about this." People who know how the CCP operates said, "The CCP is not afraid of doing evil things, but they are afraid of what gets exposed."
