May 20, 2007 |

(Clearwisdom.net) Practitioners Ms. Ji Yan and Mr. Wei Danquan from Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province were arrested on April 14, 2007 in Shanhaiguan. They were both interrogated by officers of Qinhuangdao City's National Security Group. Ms. Ji was allowed to go home after she became severely ill, but Mr. Wei's whereabouts are still unknown and need to be investigated. Below are the details of the arrest.

At 6:40 a.m. on April 14, 2007, after Ms. Ji Yan and Mr. Wei Danquan drove through the Shanhaiguan toll station, their car was stopped by two other cars, driven by male and female police officers in plainclothes.

Mr. Wei was pulled out of the car by two male officers, thrown to the ground and handcuffed, then put into the first car. Ms. Ji's belongings were confiscated and she was also handcuffed. She was taken to the second car and covered with an overcoat. The leader of the group asked the woman beside Ms. Ji, "Is this her?" She replied, "Yes, Sir." The officer said, "Search her to see if she has an emitter." The woman answered, "No!"

After driving northeast for quite a while, Ms. Ji was taken to a room on the third floor of a building. The room had two beds, and the window and curtains were closed. It was 11:30 a.m. Two female plainclothes police officers entered the room and took away Ms. Ji's digital watch to check the emitter. Ms. Ji was guarded by the five female officers in turn, and they refused to tell her where she was. After being handcuffed for the whole morning, Ms. Ji was in so much pain that she started vomiting, had a stomachache, and suffered from body sweats.

After lunch, Lu Ping, the director of Qinhuangdao City's National Security Group, went in and asked, "Who is Ji Yan?" When Ms. Ji turned around to answer, Lu Ping immediately punched her in the face, pulled her hair, and pushed her down to the ground. He started to beat her further but was stopped by the guard. Then the police officers took off Ms. Ji's glasses, covered her head with a black bag, and took her down to a car, while Lu Ping was shouting, "Never dream of getting out of here, I've got to kill you today!"

Ms. Ji was transferred to an interrogation room, where a man sat behind a long desk. She asked, "Where am I?" The man answered, "Haigang Police Sub-bureau." Ms. Ji asked, "What is your name?" "My surname is Zhai." Later, Ms. Ji was searched by a female guard and 300 yuan in cash was confiscated from her.

Lu Ping entered again and, shaking his fist in Ms. Ji's face, shouted, "Look at me, I am Lu Ping, the head of Qinhuangdao City's National Security Group and the evil police, as you call us. You think you are famous in China, but I am more famous than you, I am famous in the world." He punched her in the face again.

Official Zhai began to interrogate Ms. Ji, but she did not cooperate with him, refusing to answer any questions or sign any paperwork. Lu Ping threatened, "Stay here a couple more days, and you will definitely be sentenced." At 10:00 p.m. that night, Ms. Ji was taken to the No. 2 Detention Center.

Ms. Ji was interrogated again on April 15, 16 and 18. At 3:00 p.m. on April 18, Ms. Ji started to suffer from severe heart pains and was subsequently released.

Correction: Ms. Ji's home was ransacked by the police but things thought to be confiscated, including rings, a necklace, and her house-purchase receipt, were later found.
