(Clearwisdom.net) At a press conference in front of the New South Wales Supreme Court in Sydney on November 7, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners announced that the Supreme Court of NSW had issued a default judgment on November 5, recognizing that the defendant, Chinese Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai, had failed to provide a defense for the case brought against him by Mr. Pan Yu. The judgment was in favor of the plaintiff, Falun Gong practitioner Pan Yu.

Pan Yu's legal assistant, Newton Xu, showed the verdict that was issued by the Supreme Court of NSW. He said that the court made a default judgment against the defendant, Bo Xilai. The court ruled that plaintiff Pan Yu had won the case, and that he may ask for compensation for injuries caused by the defendant. Mr. Newton stated that for the next step he will assist the plaintiff in preparing additional information, and submit it to the court. This will require Bo Xilai to pay compensation for the plaintiff's tremendous physical and mental suffering caused by the persecution of Falun Gong. The court will issue the final amount Bo Xilai will have to pay.

When the Chinese Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai accompanied Hu Jintao to Australia for the Asia-Pacific Summit on September 4, 2007, he was served a summons in person at his hotel the first day he arrived in Canberra, the capital of Australia. When the court opened for a hearing on October 8, it accepted the testimony submitted by the plaintiff's lawyer, but Bo Xilai did not appear in court, nor send a lawyer on his behalf. The court then ruled against Bo Xilai in the second hearing held on November 5.

The Supreme Court of NSW's judgment against Bo Xilai has a profound meaning

The legal assistant of the plaintiff, Newton Xu, believes that the victory in this case has significant meaning. China's legal system is unable to provide people with a guarantee of their basic rights, while in Australia and other democratic countries, this is the court's basic duty; the court is a symbol of justice and fairness. This case can also encourage more people in China to seek their basic human rights. Bo Xilai is the highest ranking Chinese Communist Party official to be found guilty in an overseas lawsuit. This case also serves as a potent reminder to other CCP officials who have participated in the persecution of Falun Gong.

That the defendant Bo Xilai was served a summons but did not dare to appear in court or make any response shows that he is very clear about his active role in the persecution of Falun Gong, that it is against the law and a violation of human rights. If he were to respond, he would have to submit to the court's cross-examination, and accept the verdict. Mr. Newton stated that attempts by high-ranking officials who participated in the persecution to evade trial will fail, and that they will not escape just punishment. Today's judgment against Bo Xilai is a good example.

Falun Gong practitioner Pan Yu who sued Chinese Minister of Commerce for torture

Plaintiff Pan Yu said in an interview that he was very pleased about winning the case. He thanked the Australian court for upholding justice and issuing a judgment against the criminal. He believed that this showed that the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong is against the people's will, and has roused indignation of the world's people. A very recent open letter was addressed to Hu Jintao and Wen Jiabao by a standing member of Anhui Province's Political Consultative Commission, Wang Zhaojun. It requested political reform, and called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong; this also shows that people have a sense of natural justice.

NSW Falun Dafa Association President Ms. Zhao said that the verdict is encouraging. This is the first example in which an Australian court made a judgment in favor of Falun Gong practitioners regarding the crimes committed by the CCP officials in the persecution of Falun Gong. This will play a positive role in pushing forward other lawsuits filed by other Falun Gong practitioners in Australia, such as the lawsuit against Jiang Zemin, the lawsuit against the secretary of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee Zhang Dejiang, and the lawsuit against Chen Shaoji. In addition, the victory in this case is also encouraging to millions of Falun Gong practitioners suffering persecution inside China. At the same time, she hoped that this case will also serve as a timely warning to police officers and government officials who continue persecuting Falun Gong in China. She hoped that they will stop their crimes before it is too late.

Spokesperson for the NSW Falun Dafa Association John Deller said the case helps more people learn what Falun Gong is and therefore understand the CCP's real purpose in the persecution of Falun Gong.

Bo Xilai, active accomplice of Jiang in the persecution of Falun Gong, has committed numerous crimes

He pointed out at the press conference that when Bo was Governor of Liaoning Province, he actively participated in and implemented the genocidal persecution of Falun Gong. Pan Yu was detained at the Longshan Forced Labor Camp in Liaoning Province in 2000 for practicing Falun Gong. During the detention, he suffered all kinds of physical torture and mental torment. On one occasion, the policemen fully charged the electric batons to 40,000 volts and shocked him continuously for around 10 minutes. He was mentally devastated, and nearly lost his life.

When Chinese Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai worked as Deputy Secretary of Liaoning Provincial Party Committee, Governor of Liaoning Province, former secretary of the Dalian City Party Committee and Dalian Mayor, he controlled and directed the persecution of Falun Gong, making Liaoning Province one of the provinces where the persecution of Falun Gong was the most severe. As of April 19, 2004, verified by the international human rights organizations, the number of Falun Gong practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution in Liaoning Province was 103, ranking No. 4 across China.

In his role as governor, Bo Xilai actively built large-scale prison facilities and employed extremely brutal and inhumane methods to brainwash and persecute Falun Gong practitioners.

One of the witnesses, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Shuqin from Dalian, Liaoning Province, said at the press conference that she personally witnessed many of the crimes committed by Bo Xilai, who has been actively participating in the persecution of Falun Gong. Ms. Liu was arrested and detained numerous times after July 1999 for practicing Falun Gong. She was also illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. When she was detained at the Dalian Forced Labor Camp, she suffered both physical torture and mental torment, including being forced to give up her belief in Falun Gong. She was incarcerated in a small cell for seven consecutive days, and forced to do slave labor to make products for export overseas. She and other Falun Gong practitioners were forced to have their blood tested, a procedure used by the CCP to select victims for live organ harvesting.

The people are against the persecution, and support the lawsuit against chief culprit, Bo Xilai

During the press conference, Australians who saw the banners which were imprinted with messages and displayed outside the court, stopped to watch from the side, and carefully read the truth clarifying material distributed to them. Many people expressed their feelings against the Chinese Communist regime's brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, and voiced their support for the lawsuit against Bo Xilai.

One Falun Gong practitioner who was handing out materials at the time met a friend from Shanghai. This man was very curious about the press conference outside the Supreme Court, and expressed his gratitude upon discovering that Bo Xilai had lost the case. He felt the persecution was wrong to begin with, and it was a very good move to sue Bo and those who played a main role in the persecution. Recently he had also read about the open letter addressed to Hu Jintao from Wang Zhaojun, that called for an end to the persecution of Falun Gong. He said that this showed righteous people inside China have gradually become more willing to speak out.

One cannot escape the condemnation of justice, Investigations and lawsuits follow the will of people and the heavens

Spokesperson for the New South Wales Falun Dafa Association, Mr John Deller said, Bo Xilai has committed serious crimes in the persecution of Falun Gong. He faces lawsuits from Falun Gong practitioners not only in Australia, but in more than ten countries including America, Canada, Spain, New Zealand, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Russia, and South Korea. The atrocious crimes he has committed have caused him to be unwelcome in many places of the world.

According to reliable sources, there are forty-seven lawsuits worldwide against Chinese Communist government officials for their roles in the persecution of Falun Gong. Aside from the recent judgment on Bo Xilai in Australia, a number of other lawsuits have been judged in favor of Falun Gong practitioners; these include, lawsuits in America against the Mayor of Beijing, Liu Qi, former deputy mayor of Liaoning Province, Xia Deren, former Minister for Public Security in Hubei Province, Zhao Zhifei, and a lawsuit in Canada against Toronto Chief Consular of the Chinese Embassy, Pan Xinchun, for the crime of libel.

President of the New South Wales Falun Dafa Association, Ms Zhao, hopes these lawsuits will remind people to keep a watchful eye on the severity of the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Regime. She also hopes more and more people will come to understand the truth of the persecution, and stand together to end these crimes of genocide. She feels the main culprits who instigated this large-scale persecution campaign, including Jiang Zemin, Luo Gan, Liu Jing, Zhou Yongkang, and those officials who closely follow the orders of Jiang Zemin, such as Bo Xilai, will be unable to escape history's judgment.

Zhang Zijian, the son of Zhang Guodong and a Falun Gong practitioner in Malaysia, read the letter of protest in front of the Chinese Consulate: "I call on people in China to stand up and help us rescue our friends, Falun Gong practitioners persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). We strongly demand that the CCP immediately and unconditionally release Zhang Guodong and other practitioners. I also call on people around the world to pay attention to the arrested practitioners and the worsening human rights situation in China."

According to Zhang Zijian, recently the CCP conducted mass arrests of Falun Gong practitioners, democratic activists, human rights activists, and appellants. Zhang Zijian learned that practitioners closely associated with Zhang Guodong are also in danger.

Mr. Zhang Guodong, 51, has practiced Falun Gong since 1998. He works hard to improve himself and always puts others first. He follows Falun Gong's principles of Truthfulness-Compassion- Forbearance in his daily activities and has won the respect of local residents. Since the persecution started on July 20, 1999, Mr. Zhang and other practitioners have remained steadfast in their beliefs and continued to tell the government and the people the facts about Falun Gong. They hope to end the persecution soon.

Chen Jin from Guangdong Province is a friend of Long Guande and Zhan Xuemei. Chen called on people from all walks of life to help rescue the practitioners, especially Long and Zhan, who Long and Zhan were arrested and detained several weeks ago. Zhan is locked in the Third Detention Center in Baiyun District, Guangzhou City. Long's whereabouts are currently unknown.

According to Chen, before the persecution, Mr. Long was a well-known construction contractor in Guangdong Province and had more than 10 million yuan in property under his name. After the persecution, Long, Zhan, and their two young children were wanted by the CCP and had no place to stay. Their multi-million yuan in property mysteriously disappeared. Chen said that Mr. Long used to be bedridden before he practiced Falun Gong, and that he and his family had benefited tremendously from the practice.

Chen recently said, "I am a Falun Gong practitioner who was tortured by the CCP in China. Being a witness of this unprecedented cruel persecution, I stand in front of the Malaysia Chinese Consulate and strongly protest the CCP's arrest of my fellow practitioners, Long Guande and Zhan Xuemei! I strongly protest the CCP using brutal measures to persecute tens of thousands of practitioners in prisons, forced labor camps, and brainwashing centers! At the same time, I call on people of justice from all walks of life to lend us your help to rescue Mr. Long and Ms. Zhan and all practitioners who are still being tortured in prisons and forced labor camps in China. Let's hold up the human rights torch and stop the CCP's violent persecution."

(Clearwisdom.net) The "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" International Art Exhibition opened on November 3, 2007 at the Performing Arts Hall in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The exhibition will be open to the public from November 2 to 8, 2007. The international art exhibition has toured more than 40 countries including Europe, Asia, Australia, the U.S.A. and Canada. Over a hundred exhibitions have been held. The opening ceremony for the exhibition in Hsinchu had invited dignitaries from both the county and city government, who expressed their appreciation for Falun Gong's principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance."

Refreshing Exhibition at the Cultural Center

Hsin-chu, also known as "Chuchian," is located in a trumpet-shaped valley with an opening to the sea. This special topography causes seasonal winds to blow all year round, so Hsin-chu is also called "Windy City". It is also a city where talents gather, and it is a melting pot for multi-ethnic groups. Chuchian is known as the cultural center of North Taiwan.

The Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Art Exhibition encompasses the essence of traditional art of both the East and the West, and features sculpture, oil paintings and traditional Chinese paintings created by accomplished artists. These artworks portray the pursuit of truth in life, praise for gods and battles between good and evil. The artworks also depict the ongoing catastrophe taking place in the human world, that is, the persecution of Falun Gong initiated by Jiang's regime - the battle of good and evil.

Tseng Ming-ching, President of the Deren Lion Association, which helped host the exhibition, said that the Lion Association mainly aims to support people who need urgent help, and helps people in poor living conditions. The society does not host many art exhibitions of such a high-level that enable people to improve spiritually, morally and culturally. The association hopes to jointly host similar events in the future.

The hostess of the art exhibition, Ms. Jou Yi-Shiou, an art teacher, said that the Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance Art Exhibition showcases the realm of Falun Dafa, and all the exhibited artworks are the creations of Falun Dafa practitioners. The great deeds of Falun Dafa practitioners around the world who have worked together against the persecution, have caused a sensation in heaven and earth. The art exhibition records practitioners' great deeds over the past eight years of the persecution. Ms. Jou said that she hoped to call on people's conscience and sense of justice, and share the brilliance and goodness of Falun Dafa to the world's people. She also hoped that those who have participated in the persecution in China will stop before it is too late, and that they will no longer commit any more crimes.

Mr. Chen Sheng-lung, Secretary of the County Council Speaker said that the children's exquisite performance was amazing, that the paintings in the Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibition were impressive and showed consummate skill. He said, "The sincerity embodied in the art exhibition touched us. We hope to contribute our efforts to support Falun Gong."

Ms. Chen Hsiu-chen, Section Head of the Bureau of Cultural Affairs and also a representative of the Hsinchu County Magistrate, said that Falun Gong cultivation practice has had a great impact. She said "It is admirable to pursue the spirit of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Cultivating Dafa not only purifies one's mind, but also changes people from being selfish to becoming altruistic and selfless." She said she hoped that Falun Gong would continue to flourish.

Mr. Yao Ke-wu, Director of the Hsinchu Bureau of Health, visited the art exhibition and said that he believed that Falun Gong's spirit was well represented in Taiwan.

Professor Chang Chin-hua from the Institute of Journalism at the National Taiwan University spoke on behalf of the Falun Dafa Association. She said that they hoped to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) brutal persecution through the exhibition of the artists' works, and she also hoped that everyone could work together to stop the persecution. Professor Chang said that the CCP not only persecutes Falun Gong, it is also responsible for tainted food and products, corruption and dictatorship. She stated that the CCP regime is unworthy of its power. She hoped that people will stand up and bravely tell everybody about the persecution and abuse of power in mainland China.

An older woman in her 70s who lives near the cultural center walked into the art exhibition hall. She told the practitioner who acted as a guide to the exhibition that she thought that it was very meaningful to hold such an art exhibition, particularly in today's society where the standard of morality has fallen so much. She said that these kinds of events should be held more often, so that people will learn about the CCP's persecution. She said that although she could not read, she could understand the paintings. She was moved by the paintings and understood what they wanted to express.

Near the art exhibition hall is the library of the Bureau of Cultural Affairs. A woman who visited the library walked into the art exhibition hall. She said she was an atheist, but when she saw the painting, "Justice," she was suddenly awakened, and understood that no matter whether deities are from the East or the West, they all have the same principle that good people will be rewarded, and bad people will meet with retribution. Through the painting, she understood that gods are protecting kind people without distinction of national boundaries.

In the painting "Justice," little angels hang Jiang with a long rope and send Jiang down to Hell. Jiang is the chief culprit in the persecution of Falun Gong that has persisted for eight years. As of today, at least 3,100 Falun Gong practitioners have died as a result of the brutal persecution in China.

Many visitors said that they had thought that the Chinese Communist Party had become good with the development of its economy, and that the persecution reflected from these paintings was something that had only happened in earlier times. The practitioner who showed the visitors the paintings told them that even as they were talking, the persecution was still going on. They explained that the paintings show only a tiny portion of what is actually happening in China. The visitors were shocked and thought it unbelievable that the persecution still continues. The practitioners told visitors that the purpose of holding the art exhibition was to tell the world's people that there is still such a brutal thing happening in the world. The CCP has been covering up the truth about the persecution, and even harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners for profit. After listening to the practitioner's explanation, exhibition visitors expressed thanks for learning the truth.

Ms. Wu walked into the art exhibition hall with her one-year-old child. Ms. Cai who was a guide explained that all the artworks were the creations of artists who practice Falun Gong and that their works express the beauty that they have experienced through their cultivation practice. She said that some of the works also express the artists' personal experience or the experiences of other practitioners amidst the cruel persecution in China. Ms. Cai also told Ms. Wu about her own positive changes, both physically and mentally, that she experienced after practicing Falun Gong. After listening to Ms. Cai, Ms. Wu said that she wanted to learn Falun Gong and asked for information about a practice site near her home. She said she would buy the Falun Dafa books. She also said that she had been searching for a cultivation practice recently, in order to achieve physical and mental wellbeing. When she heard that Falun Gong is simple and easy to learn, yet also very powerful, she decided to learn it.

Sculpture "Buddha": The artist, Professor Zhang Kunlun said, "I did not believe in gods, because I had been brainwashed with the atheistic education in mainland China. My student's elder brother suffered from a disease that no hospital across China could cure. No less than 30 days after he began practicing Falun Gong, he became a completely healthy person. There are numerous similar miracles in Falun Gong. I truly feel that gods and Buddhas are in front of me. So I made the sculpture in the image of the Buddha whom I revere."

A couple finished watching performances, and then the man looked at the sculpture entitled, "Buddha" attentively for a long time. The guide told him how Falun Gong has been brutally persecuted by the CCP, and how Falun Dafa has been spread throughout the world and warmly received by people from over 80 countries. He said he had learned about the persecution, and he had read Zhuan Falun, but he did not practice the exercises, and had not truly entered the cultivation. Today, after seeing the sculpture, he was deeply moved, and he thought he should start cultivation practice. Later, the man said he would bring his fiancee's mother to see the art exhibition the next day.

These works convey good messages and inform people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Visitors were deeply moved. Just as the artists stated, "We are all Falun Dafa cultivators, our inspirations stem from our cultivation practice. We would like to share with the audience the beauty we have experienced in Falun Dafa through our artworks. We also want to display the brutal persecution of Falun Gong as committed by the CCP. In particular, we want to portray Falun Gong practitioners' uncompromising courage and lofty realm in the face of the persecution. We also wanted to use traditional painting skills to help people return to their normal form of conduct and orthodox belief through traditional art forms."

(Clearwisdom.net) From October 25 to 29, a petition tour took place through the cities of Presov, Vranov nad Toplou, Kosice and Svidnik in eastern Slovakia. The goal of the tour was to support the human rights of Falun Gong practitioners who have been persecuted in China since 1999.

On Thursday in Presov it was a rather rainy day, but the practitioners nevertheless set up their stands and table and asked passers by to sign the petition. People were not discouraged by the bad weather and they came to sign even under an umbrella. Many people remembered practitioners from previous events and asked whether the situation in China had improved. Practitioners could unfortunately only say that the persecution continues behind the scenes.

People of all ages came to sign the petition

In Vranov nad Toplou, the practitioners were welcomed by a nice sunny day. Curious local residents came to watch demonstrations of the five Falun Gong exercises and asked what the practitioners were doing. When they learned that people in China have lost their lives at the hands of the Communist Party just for practicing these exercises, they didn't hesitate to add their signature to the petition. People of all ages came to sign, from young children to the elderly.

On Saturday in Kosice, a reporter from the local newspaper Novy Cas came to interview the practitioners and later published an article about the persecution of Falun Gong and about the accompanying undertaking "silhouettes of compassion", where the passers-by could outline their silhouette on the pavement as an expression of solidarity with the victims of the communist regime. An elderly lady, who stopped at one of the silhouettes, signed and said "That chalk will be washed away by the rain. You should draw it with something more durable."

A reporter from a local newspaper interviewed practitioners

On Monday in Sabinov the practitioners met with the Mayor, who signed the petition. He was interested in details of the persecution and after learning the facts he wished the practitioners success in their efforts.

During the petition in the city there came small helpers - children - who curiously learned the exercises, helped to give out leaflets and asked passers-by to sign the petition. It was clear that they meant it from the bottom of their hearts.

More than 1,300 people signed the petition during those four days, which proves the high solidarity and support the people in eastern Slovakia have for Falun Gong practitioners being persecuted in China.

On Saturday November 3 2007, Falun Gong practitioners organized an information day event in Darmstadt City in central Germany. The activity was designed to introduce Falun Gong (also called Falun Dafa) to the German people and expose the eight-year-long persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese Communist Party.

(Clearwisdom.net) On November 3, 2007, Falun Gong practitioners from Minnesota participated for the fifth time in the University of Minnesota Homecoming Parade.

The parade started at 2:00 p.m. A large banner, which read "The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," led the Falun Gong practitioners' procession. They demonstrated the exercises on a beautifully-decorated float, and the spectators warmly welcomed them.

The University of Minnesota has sixty thousand students, nearly 800 of them Chinese. Falun Gong practitioners hoped to bring the spirit of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance" to everyone on campus.

(Clearwisdom.net) Several Falun Gong practitioners from the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering at Shanghai's Jiaotong University were recently illegally sentenced and persecuted. Among those detained were teacher Mr. Guo Xiaojun, mechanical engineering student Mr. Mei Jianqi, who started cultivating in 1996, and Department of Energy student Mr. Ju Yanlai, who started in 1999. They were all sentenced to five years in prison. Also, Mr. Wang Xudong, a Master's degree student from the School of Chemical Engineering, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. They were all detained in Tilanqiao Prison in Shanghai at one time or another. Mr. Ju Yanlai held hunger strikes to protest the persecution for four years and was once near death.

Those sent to labor camps included Mr. Yang Yining, Mr. Bai Jianjun, Mr. Xiang Donghui, and Mr. Wu Yuxin, all PhD. students from the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering. Ms. Zhuang Wei, a Master's degree student from the Department of Computer Science, and Mr. Li Tao, a Master's degree student from the School of Mechanical Engineering, were both sent to forced labor camps. Mr. Li Jianbin, who graduated in 1999 from the Department of Computer Science, died as a result of the persecution.

Li Xinkun, male, 67 years old, was the person primarily responsible for the persecution at Jiaotong University. He was the former director of the Security Section. Li was directly in charge of implementing the persecution at the university and participated in all activities involving the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners since April 25, 1999.

After July 20, 1999, Li Xinkun took an entire floor in a school dormitory and converted it into a private and illegal detention center. He had iron bars put on all the windows, doors, and exits. He had people attempt to brainwash the detained teachers and students there, and he also determined when those detained could be released. Some of the practitioners who were detained there included Mr. Mei Jianqi, Mr. Ji Lilu, Ms. Zhuang Wei, Mr. Bai Jianjun, Mr. Guo Xiaojun, Mr. Li Tao, Mr. Wang Feng, Mr. Wu Yuxin, and Mr. Zhang Hongtao.

Li Xinkun conspired with the Wenbao Police Sub-bureau to imprison practitioners who refused to give up their belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance," who clarified the truth, and who appealed for justice for Falun Gong. Among them, Mr. Guo Xiaojun, a teacher from the School of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, and Mr. Mei Jianqi, a fourth year student from the School of Mechanical Engineering, were both sentenced to five years in prison. Several PhD students were sent to labor camps, including Mr. Yang Yining, Mr. Bai Jianjun, Mr. Xiang Donghui, and Mr. Wu Yuxin. Master's degree students Mr. Li Tao and Ms. Zhuang Wei were also sentenced to forced labor.

Li Xinkun was also responsible for the persecution of other practitioners who did the exercises, including a retired teacher named Cheng Jinmeng, a teacher named Wang Wenhuan, and students Sun Jin, Wu Xiaotian, Wu Xiaomei, and Yan Yan.

Li Xinkun also participated in the persecution of practitioners who had graduated from the university--university alumni.

(Clearwisdom.net) Before the Chinese Communist Party held it's 17^th National People's Congress, agents of the Yanbian Administration Division Political and Judicial Committee, the Administration Division 610 Office, the Administration Division Court and the Appeals Office went to local counties and cities to keep Falun Gong practitioners from going to Beijing to appeal. They planned to strengthen their efforts to persecute Falun Gong, and they rampantly arrested practitioners.

Since August, news has continuously come out from the Yanbian area where the Chinese Communist Party is persecuting and arresting Falun Gong practitioners. As far as we know, the persecution this time was planned and organized by several organizations including the Yanbian Administration Division Political and Judicial Committee, the Administration Division 610 Office, and the National Security Team of the Administration Division.

In mid September, several police stations in Yanji City used the excuse of checking residence permits to break into several practitioners' homes at Yanji City. Since the practitioners' family members strongly resisted this action, they did not succeed.

On September 12, Ms. Jiang Shumei, a 50-year-old practitioner who resided in the neighborhood of Dayu Garden District, was arrested at home by the Yanji City National Security Team. Much of her property including her computer and printer was confiscated.

On September 13, a practitioner named Mr. Zhang Xingcai, 58 years old, from the Yanji City Development Area, was arrested at home by five policemen from the National Security Team of Yanji City.

On September 14, two more female practitioners were taken away by the police.

At around 11:00 a.m. on September 29, Jin Dezhu was taken away from her workplace by two plainclothes policemen.

On the evening of September 29, officers from the Tumen City 610 Office, the Hongguang Police Substation, and the Yuegong Police Substation arrested Liu Chunhe, Ding Shuxian and Liu Shuzhi, and unlawfully detained them at Hou'anshan Detention Center.

That same evening, a dozen policemen, along with Li Jinyou of the Tumen City 610 Office and the National Security Team, broke into practitioner Liu Xiuhua's home in Qushui Village, Yueqing Town. They confiscated Master's photo, Falun Dafa books and other materials. They made video recordings while they confiscated the property and arrested practitioner Ms. Liu Xiuhua (in her forties). When Liu Xiuhua's family members, who were non-practitioners, tried to talk compassionately to the police, this group of offiers ran into the family home and searched it. They confiscated a computer and DVDs as well. Later, the police continued to search other practitioners' homes.

On September 30, the National Security Team of the Yanji City Public Security Bureau hurriedly sentenced four practitioners, including Zhang Xingcai, to forced labor, and sent them to the Yinmahe Forced Labor Camp at Jiutai, Jilin Province and the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp at Changchun.

On October 12, the Jiangong Street Neighborhood Committee of Yanji City went to the practitioners' workplace, saying that soon Falun Gong practitioners would have a large-scale activity. They told the workplace managers to keep an eye on their employees. The employers felt the pressure, and phoned the practitioners' families, telling them to watch the practitioners.

On October 12, nine practitioners from Zhuanjiaolou Village, Tianqiaoling Town, Wangqing County, including Cui Guangyong, were arrested.

At 2:00 p.m. on October 12, practitioner Wu Yingzi from Wangqing County was arrested. At around 8:00 p.m. on October 12, the police arrested the couple Lin Jiping and Chen Guifeng at their home.

At 2:00 p.m. on October 12, the police from the Dachuan Police Substation of Wangqing County arrested practitioner Mr. Zheng Lijun. Zheng Lijun's son, a junior high school student named Zheng Xiang, his wife's sister-in-law and his wife's brother's mother-in-law stopped the police from leaving. The police called for another twenty policemen, and several police vehicles. They dragged away Zheng's wife's brother's mother-in-law, and pushed aside his son. The four policemen took Zheng Lijun to the police vehicle. His son Zheng Xiang tried to prevent the police vehicles from leaving. The director of the Dachuan Police Substation forcibly pushed and assaulted the child.

At this moment, his wife's sister-in-law also went forward to stop them but was pushed down to the floor. The surrounding neighbors all condemned the police officers' behavior. The whole event lasted from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. During this time, the police also tried to arrest Zheng's brother-in-law. Since his brother-in-law was not at home, they did not succeed.

The police threatened to hold a brainwashing session at the Zhong'an Detention Center in Wangqing County. They wouldn't release anyone before the 17^th National People's Congress. Currently only Zheng Lijun is unlawfully detained at the Zhong'an Detention Center in Wangqing County. The other practitioners (over twenty of them) were detained unlawfully at Mantianxing Brainwashing Center.

On around October 15, the National Security Team of Yanji City sent two practitioners, including Jin Dezhu, to Jiutai Forced Labor Camp.

On the morning of October 16, a practitioner named Sister Dayang from Erdaobai River, Antu County, Jilin Province went to Li Leyou's home. She was followed all the way by a policeman named Wang Yong. The police called the police substation and had the two of them arrested. The police found truth-clarifying materials, a printer and some Dafa books as well.

(Clearwisdom.net) I'm a Falun Dafa practitioner from Ang'angxi, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province. The following is an account of the torture I suffered while being held by the authorities.

I was arrested on December 27, 2001. I was taken to the Second Detention Center in Qiqihar City on December 30 and detained there. On April 10, 2002, I was illegally sentenced to five years of imprisonment. The local court rejected our appeal and stuck to the original terms.

One day, guards at the Second Detention Center wanted to take pictures of several detained practitioners (for making propaganda materials and falsifying news). We refused to cooperate. Guard Lu Zheng ordered practitioners Ms. Yang Yanqiu, Ms. Wang Shufang, Ms. Zhang Shuzhe, Ms. Liu Yongjuan and I to go to the hall. We saw many police officers with cameras in the hall. They handed me a sign with my name on it. I put the sign down. They became angry and swarmed around me, then began beating me with their hands, feet and clubs. I heard the other four practitioners shout "You should not beat people" and "Falun Dafa is good."

On September 19, 2002, we were taken from the Second Detention Center to Harbin Prison. We started off before dawn and didn't get to the prison until 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon. The prison authorities didn't even allow us to have lunch. We were taken directly into several offices to be "transformed." Prison guards used various means to torture me. I was forced to squat down for a long time, my hands were cuffed behind my back, I was shocked with electric batons and beaten ruthlessly. I clarified the truth to the guards and told them to be kind-hearted and to no longer commit wrongdoings. They kept shocking me with electric batons.

After a while, they put me and others in solitary compartments. The next day, they called us out and subjected us to the same torture methods, trying again to "transform" us. Again, we refused to give up our belief in Dafa and were sent back to solitary confinement. The third day, they asked us to shout "report" and recite the prison regulations. I refused to do it and was pushed to the ground by five prison guards and ruthlessly beaten. I thought to myself, "I'm a Dafa practitioner. My belief is not a crime. I would rather die than follow your arrangement." They sent me back to solitary confinement again. I was held there for 26 days. They then put us in the hall on the third floor.

There, staff from the local 610 Office forced us to sit on the cement floor. Our hands were cuffed behind our backs, even when we used the restroom, and we were forced to watch videotapes that slandered Dafa. It was winter and very cold at night. We were forced to sleep on the cement floor with our hands cuffed behind our backs. The next day, we went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. The guards sent us to the "concentration training unit," where every practitioner was monitored by two criminal inmates. They followed us everywhere, and wouldn't allow us to talk to each other. Soon we were sent to the central division.

At the central division, practitioners were monitored by four prison inmates. The prison authorities adopted the "guilt by association" policy. If monitors cannot control practitioners, they lose points (if they lose a certain number of points, their sentence is extended). The prison guards try to create disputes between practitioners and inmates. Inmates ruthlessly beat practitioners just because they talked to each other. One time, I exchanged Teacher's lectures with practitioner Ms. Chen Weijun, from Nenjiang County (she was later tortured to death), so the prison guards slapped our faces, and threatened to deduct points from the inmates who monitored us.

In November 2003, several practitioners from the 7th Ward and I refused to respond during roll-call, so the prison authorities forced us to stay outside for 6-7 days. We were not allowed to eat lunch and were forced to stand from early morning to late afternoon in the cold wind. Some practitioners fainted from the severe cold. When it was time for evening roll-call, practitioners who refused to say their names were forced to squat down. If the practitioners refused to squat down, they were beaten. Later, twelve practitioners including myself decided not to wear our name tags. For this we were put in the bathhouse of the 7th Ward and then in the warehouse to receive physical punishment. The bathhouse floor was covered with water. We were forced to stand in it during the day and sleep on the wet, cold floor at night. As a result, my left foot and calf became swollen. Some practitioners fainted.

During the Spring Festival 2004, five practitioners, including myself, were studying the Fa in the warehouse. The prison head found out in the monitoring cell. He broke into the warehouse and put Sun Yuzhi, Li Donglei and I in solitary confinement. Our feet were shackled to the ground, and our hands cuffed behind our backs. We were only allowed to have two servings of porridge per day. I was sent back to my previous ward after 19 days. The other two practitioners didn't get back until a month later.

In April 2004, eight practitioners and I refused to wear name tags, and were subsequently tortured using the "big hang up" method (practitioners' hands are handcuffed behind the back, then they are pulled up and hung from a hook high above the floor. The feet are made to hang just above the floor.) My hands were cuffed to the ladder of the bunk bed. I felt dizzy and passed out. When I regained consciousness, my whole body was soaked in sweat. Some practitioners were hung up for four or five days. Later we were sent to the workshop and put under strict surveillance.

In July 2004, prison guards brutally tortured about thirty practitioners who held hunger strikes, refused to respond during roll-call, refused to wear name tags or the prison uniforms. My hands were cuffed behind my back, and I was hung up with the tips of my toes barely touching the ground. My hands hurt to the point of numbness. One inmate said, "She doesn't look good. Put her down." By then, the handcuffs had cut into my arms, and blood was streaming down. They had to pick me up from the floor in order to take the handcuffs off of me. I was then put back on the ground. At the time, I had been on a hunger strike for four days, so they started force-feeding me. They tried inserting a tube into my throat twice and failed. When the tube was pulled out, blood and mucus came out with it and covered my body. They then used an in-vitro injection. I had a high fever, so they had to take me to a hospital to have an X-ray. I was then sent to the infirmary ward for continued persecution. In the infirmary ward, I became emaciated and had to lie in bed all day long.

In October 2006, the prison sent me to a hospital for examination. I was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was sent home on medical parole. I learned later that in the five years of my imprisonment, my family paid money to the prison so I would suffer less. Yet I was still brutally tortured, and my family members were persecuted both financially and spiritually by the Chinese Communist Party.

(Clearwisdom.net) Mr. Liu Zhihui, a practitioner from Hebei Province, was arrested by police from the National Security Team at the Baoding Public Security Bureau, including Feng Yong, Liu Zhenchang, Wang Hong'en and Xue Xian. Mr. Liu was detained for one day and night. Later, he was sent to the Qingyuan County brainwashing center and not given any food or water for five days. The police injected Mr. Liu Zhihui with unknown drugs over the course of two days.

On September 4, 2007, the Baoding City Public Security Bureau forced Mr. Liu Zhihui's family to pay fifteen thousand yuan. The police said that they would release him if the family paid the money and that they had to have the money before 12 o'clock. Liu Zhihui's family collected fifteen thousand yuan and before 12 o'clock they handed it to the Baoding City Public Security Bureau. After securing the fifteen thousand yuan, they said, "He was sentenced to a forced labor camp. If we cannot release him, we will give you back the money."

On the next day, the National Security Team in Baoding City Public Security Bureau sent Liu Zhihui to the forced labor camp. Liu Zhihui's family was refunded only ten thousand yuan. The other five thousand supposedly paid for the meals at the labor camp.

Since Liu Zhihui had a rapid heart-beat and was vomiting blood, the forced labor camp refused to take him. The Baoding City Public Security Bureau National Team did not agree, and said that they would give the five thousand yuan to the forced labor camp if they would take Liu Zhihui. The forced labor camp, however, was afraid to shoulder the responsibility, and stated, "Even if you give us five thousand yuan, we are not going to take him." With no other choice, the police from the National Security Team said, "Send him home." They dragged Liu Zhihui, who was covered in mud and grime, into the vehicle, dropped him off at his cousin's home and drove away.

Mr. Liu Zhihui, 36, is from Daliu Village, Xiaochen Town, Li County, Hebei Province. Before he started practicing Falun Dafa, he always loafed around and gambled. Later he became very sick and could hardly walk and take care of himself. After practicing Falun Gong for three months, Liu Zhihui's illnesses disappeared. The villagers were amazed that Mr. Liu had changed so much and was now very helpful to others. He now lived harmoniously with his village neighbors. Everyone new that it was Falun Gong that made the difference in his life.

On August 28, 2007, the Baoding City Public Security Bureau National Team used six vehicles to follow Liu Zhihui to the Beidaran Restaurant in Qingyuan. Liu Zhihui's cousin invited the four followers, including Feng Yong, Liu Zhenchang, Wang Hong'en, and Xue Xian, for dinner. During dinner, Liu Zhihui clarified the truth of Falun Gong to the four of them. The four did not say anything. After dinner, Feng Yong, Liu Zhenchang, Wang Hong'en and Xue Xian attempted to extort money and property from Liu Zhihui, but were rejected.

Feng Yong, Liu Zhenchang, Wang Hong'en and Xue Xian were so mad that they forcibly arrested Liu Zhihui and took him to the Baoding City Public Security Bureau. He had eight thousand, nine hundred and sixty yuan in cash with him (he was preparing to pay his client), which was confiscated by the police. His vehicle was confiscated another van of his was also taken away by the police. Four hundred and forty yuan in cash was also stolen from Liu Zhihui's store, "Qinghua Culture and Sports Store," as well as over ten thousand in cash that Cui Hu was carrying. Cui Hu was also arrested. Property illegally confiscated included three computers, fifteen printers that were to be repaired, a printer that was unopened to be sold on someone else's behalf, a large lamp needing repair, a cell phone battery-recharger, a satellite receiver, an electric welder, two welding tables, a computer, five buckets of ball-point pens, a telephone book, a business card book, Liu Zhihui's cell phone and a motor vehicle.

On August 30 of the same year, Wang Junchan, a police officer from the Li County National Security Team, along with Zhang Zhan'gen from the Xiaochen Village Police Substation, joined police from the National Security Team of the Baoding City Public Security Bureau, to again ransack Liu Zhihui's home.

Today's report includes incidents of persecution that took place in 27 cities or counties in 13 provinces. In this report, 39 practitioners were subjected to mistreatment during their detention, and at least 18 practitioners were illegally arrested.

Ms. Chen Genghui, in her seventies, was a retired employee from the Zhongtie No. 1 Bureau Drainage Company's Sanitation department in Hua County. Personnel from the local station and the 610 Office often harassed her after the persecution began on July 20, 1999. She was sentenced to one year of forced labor in 2003 and was eventually released on bail for medical reasons. Though she was in poor health, the police still harassed her. Chen Genghui died six months later.

Personnel from the Panjin City National Security Division and from the Shuangtai District National Security Division arrested Mr. Han Chonghui and sentenced him to two years of forced labor on October 20, 2007. Officials from the labor camp refused to admit Mr. Han because of his poor health. The police transferred him to the Fushun City Luotai Resort Brainwashing Center.

Mr. Zhang Yawei was sentenced to two years of forced labor, to be served at the Benxi City Forced Labor Camp. A practitioner with an unknown name has been released.

Police confiscated tens of thousands of yuan, several cell phones, a few MP4 players, MP3 players and some electronic books from the three practitioners.

Several practitioners from the Hecheng District, Huaihua City were arrested on August 16, 2007 when they distributed copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. They are Ms. Yi Huanmei, Ms. Wang Yuying, Ms. Li Faxiu, Ms. Yang Chunlan, Ms. Yang Yingde, Ms. Zhang Luying, Ms. Ai Yuhua and Mr. Zhu Zhouxiang. According to their families, these practitioners will be sentenced on November 1, 2007.

Personnel from the Zaoziping Residential Committee, from the police station, from the Dong District Police Department and from the Panzhihua City National Security Division broke into Mr. Wu Zhongli's home at 3:00 p.m. on October 30, 2007. They confiscated his personal belongings and arrested him. His whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Jia Xuefeng, in her forties, is a teacher from the Hebei Province Transportation College. Personnel from the Xili Police Station arrested her on the night of October 21, 2007, and they confiscated her computer and some other items. Another female practitioner surnamed Shi was also arrested.

Personnel from the Chiping County Government and from the Police Department have relentlessly persecuted local practitioners since October 2007.

Mr. Song Zhaochen from Zhangshuazi Village, Zhenxing Residential District, Chiping County was arrested at his home at 7:00 p.m. on October 21, 2007. The homes of Ms. Yu Qing from Hanwang Village and Ms. Feng Jinhai from Caozhuang Village were ransacked. Ms. Ding Xiuying and Mr. Wang Yusheng's homes in the county's Towel Factory dormitory were also ransacked.

Police arrested Mr. Chi Lianpeng and his wife Ms. Liu Guiling and ransacked their home the morning of October 24, 2007.

Ms. Wang Xiuqin from Mizhuang Village, Leping Town, Chiping County was arrested on October 26, 2007. Ms. Wang's sister Ms. Wang Xiurong's whereabouts are unknown. Ms. Wang Xiuqin had been sentenced to forced labor twice.

The arrested practitioners are currently being held at the county detention center.

Personnel from the Anren County National Security Division arrested Mr. Zhang Mei from Chenzhou City, Hunan Province in October 2007 because Mr. Zhang installed a satellite TV receiver. Mr. Zhang is presently being held at the county detention center. Another practitioner surnamed Zhou was also arrested, but has been released.

Ms. Zhang Huizhu, 61, is a farmer from Zhongfang Group, Malu Town, the Jiading District, Shanghai. Five officials from the town's National Security Bureau in the Jiading District arrested her and confiscated her computer on October 19, 2007. The arrest happened when Ms. Zhang was feeding her three-year-old grandson.

In addition, seven practitioners including 30-year-old Mr. Liu Bo were arrested on October 12, 2007.

Though Mr. Zhang Wenliang's detention term in the Handan City Forced Labor Camp had expired, officials there still refused to release him.

Mr. Zhong Weiping and Ms. Du Xiuchun are from Shuangkou Town, Feng County, Jiangsu Province. Mr. Zhong's family received the arrest certificates for Mr. Zhong and Ms. Du on October 27, 2007. It is confirmed that their home was ransacked and they were arrested on October 18, 2007.

Police arrested Ms. Guo Lan'e from her home the night of September 29, 2007. She was transferred to the Zhengzhou City No. 1 Detention Center on October 15, 2007.

Jitai Town Police Station Chief Chen Hua led three policemen and went to Mr. Meng Xiangming's home at 10:00 a.m. on October 24, 2007. They arrested him and confiscated several Falun Gong books, some Dafa truth-clarification materials, an MP3 player and 400 yuan. They put Mr. Meng in the town's police station. They photographed him and forbade him to sleep or eat, and locked him in a metal cage at night.

Personnel from the Shuoguang City Police Department extorted 2,000 yuan during the interrogation on October 25, 2007, which caused Mr. Meng's family to suffer financial difficulties. Mr. Meng's wife had been sentenced to three years of forced labor because of Falun Gong practice.

Seven plainclothes policemen ransacked 58-year-old Ms. Zhai Purong's home in the Hongqiao District, Tianjin at 5:00 p.m. on October 9, 2007. They confiscated two copiers, a computer, a paper cutter and dozens of Falun Gong books. They also arrested Ms. Huo.

Several practitioners are being held at a brainwashing center at the Longsheng Nongjiale Resort in Qingyi Town, Mianyang City. Ms. An Xiaolin and Ms. Mu Lin, teachers from the South-West Technology University, were interrogated several times. The police deprived them of sleep. Ms. Mu is in poor health.

Mr. Kang Shangwen is a doctor from the Jingchuan County Traditional Chinese Medical Hospital in Pingliang City. He sent Dafa truth-clarification messages to friends, but his colleague Zhang Ge reported him. Personnel from the county police department arrested Mr. Kang and put him in the county detention center on September 29, 2007. Mr. Kang is still being held there.

Seven practitioners from Fujin City were arrested. One of them has been released because of poor health. Ms. Wang Guifang and Ms. Liu Guizhen were transferred to the Jiamusi Forced Labor Camp on October 30, 2007.

Mr. Gao Liansheng was held in the Suihua Forced Labor Camp. Three practitioners are still being held at the city detention center. The police brutally tortured Ms. Liu Tiexia in the Jiamusi City Forced Labor Camp.

Personnel from the Zhongshan District Police Department and from the Dalian City National Security Division arrested Mr. Sun Mian and put her in the Taoyuan Street Police Station the afternoon of August 14, 2007. Personnel from the police station ransacked Ms. Sun's mother-in-law's home and her mother's home. They put Ms. Sun's husband Mr. Qu Fei and her mother-in-law Ms. Xu Ganxiang in the Fushun City Luotai Resort Brainwashing Center on August 15, 2007. They released Mr. Qu and Ms. Xu after a one-month detention. Ms. Sun has been sentenced to one and a half years of forced labor in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp.

Policemen Liu Zhiqiang and Li Zhigang from the Jingzhou City 610 Office followed 44-year-old Ms. Wan Xuanfang, from the Shashi District of Jingzhou City, on the morning of October 8, 2007. They arrested her and ransacked her home. Ms. Wan has been put into the city's No. 1 Detention Center. This was Ms. Wan's fourth arrest.

Personnel from the Ziyang City Er'ehu Brainwashing Center torture steadfast practitioners using sleep deprivation. Mr. Yi Xiangang and Ms. Liu Shufen have not slept for several days.

Five officers from the Changchun City and Dehui City National Security Divisions arrested Ms. Yu Shufen, a wholesale fruit buyer, on July 8, 2006. They later ransacked her home and put her in the Changchun City Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp for a one-year term. She should have been released on July 8, 2007, but labor camp officials extended her term by 72 days because she refused to give up practicing Falun Gong.

Personnel from the Huangchuan County National Security Division arrested Mr. Ma Zhaomin, a retired teacher from the county's No. 3 Middle School at 5:30 p.m. on October 26, 2007. Mr. Ma is presently being held at the county's Hedian Detention Center.

Personnel from the Xunyang District National Security Division arrested Ms. Li Wenhong, an employee from the Jiujiang City Meter Factory on October 20, 2007, when she explained the facts of Falun Gong. They confiscated her computer, some Dafa truth-clarification materials and some cash. They demanded that Ms. Li's family pay 20,000 yuan, threatening that if they didn't pay, Ms. Li would be sentenced to three years of forced labor. Ms. Li's twin children are left home without care.

Police arrested Ms. Yang Xiuying, Ms. Xiaoying and Ms. An from the Kaiping District Market on October 30, 2007, when they clarified the facts of Falun Gong. The police held them in the district's police department.

Shunqing District National Security Division Chief Pu Dongwei in Nanchong City arrested Dr. Jiang from the Petroleum Institute in the middle September 2007. They also arrested another female practitioner, but she was released the next morning. Dr. Jiang was first held at a brainwashing center and was then transferred to a detention center on the third day. The police ransacked his home and confiscated his computer, a printer and a combined printer-copier. Officials at the Petroleum Institute have dismissed him from his job.

Ms. Yang Xiuzhi from the Jizhou District, Dalian City manifested certain disease symptoms and was thus released from the Jinnan Street Detention Center on October 29, 2007. Ms. Sun Guifen who also has some disease symptoms is still being held in the detention center. Ms. Han Jiling is presently being held at the district's Sanli Detention Center. Family visits are denied.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s 17th National Congress was recently held in Beijing. The National Congress is an event held once every five years, and is one of the most significant political events in today's China, in many ways charting the path the CCP will follow over the next five years.

An incident occurred just prior to the Congress which went virtually unnoticed. On October 18, 2007, Amnesty International wrote an open letter to Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. The letter expressed hope that China would abolish their program of "reeducation through forced labor." Amnesty International voiced concern about recent attempts by the police in Beijing to expand the use of "reeducation through forced labor" and other forms of punitive administrative detention. The pretext of "needing to clean up the city" prior to the 2008 Olympic Games was challenged by Amnesty International. The letter urged legislators to replace "reeducation through forced labor" and fully comply with the standards for international human rights. This proposal by Amnesty International may be discussed by the Standing Committee this month.

People detained in labor camps

During the 30^th summit of the 10^th Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, four pieces of legislation were passed. However, the legislation proposed to replace "reeducation through forced labor," the Illegal Behavior Correction Law, was not one of them. It was not even included in the summit agenda. The summit concluded on October 28.

China's "reeducation through forced labor" is long-standing. To meet the needs of "class struggle" in 1957 the State Council promulgated "Decision Regarding Re-education Through Labor" and there have been several amendments and supplements since that time. In 1982, the State Council submitted "Re-education through Labor Trial Measures" to the Public Security Ministry. These "Trial Measures" have lasted 25 years. The "1^st Article of Re-education Through Labor" applies to those involved in violations of laws pertaining to "minor crime, counter-revolutionary activities, and crimes against the CCP or socialism that are deemed insufficient for criminal punishment." The purpose of this law is political persecution and it has currently become the main weapon for the CCP to persecute Falun Gong, family churches, lawyers, political dissidents and others who protect human rights.

The draft of the proposed "Illegal Behavior Correction Law" and the existing "Re-education through Forced Labor System" practices are essentially the same. According to people who participated in the revision, it is no more than a name change. The police department still controls "re-education through labor," however, if the detainee does not agree with that decision, they may protest, and appeal to the court. Few people attempt the appeal process, as everyone knows the process is meaningless.

Another so called "change" is that the detention period is to be from six months to no more than 18 months. However, the period of re-education through labor can actually be up to four years. Because the police department retains sole decision making power, people released after one year of "correction" can be taken back immediately and again "corrected." We know that many cases of consecutive "reeducation through forced labor" sentences occur. In such instances the change in detention time is of no significance to the police.

As for the change called "Implementation of Human Rights," I suggest everyone read attorney Gao Zhisheng's open letter to the highest CCP authorities. His letter was written after he personally investigated the torture of Falun Gong practitioners in forced labor camps.

How can a "re-education through forced labor system," something which violates China's Constitution, exist for half a century? Why is it that the "Illegal Behavior Correction Law," has essentially made no difference in the protection of human rights? And why couldn't the new version of the law be passed?

In theory, the National People's Congress is China's highest authority and is responsible for appointing the premier of the State Council. The Ministry of Public Security is one of the many subordinates of the State Council. It appears, however, that the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, is unable to overcome opposition from the Ministry of Public Security. Even a simple "Illegal Behavior Correction Law," after four years of discussion and review, could not enter the legislative process.

The Ministry of Public Security is supposedly led by the State Council, but in fact it has another overlord. The CCP Central Committee Politics and Judiciary Committee is the real overlord of the Chinese judiciary system. The Ministries of Public Security, National Security and Judiciary all belong to the State Council. The highest courts and procurators belonging to the National People's Congress all listen to it.

The "reeducation through forced labor" system allows the public security system to wantonly deprive citizens of their freedom for up to four years, without any judiciary procedure. Thus, it has become a private punitive law of the public security system which is directly controlled by the CCP. "Re-education through forced labor" has become the most popular method used by the CCP in the persecution of Falun Gong. The majority of detainees in many forced labor c"Reeducation through forced labor" is the most direct means the CCP uses to violate human rights. As such, the public security department and its overlord, the Central Political and Judiciary Committee, wholeheartedly want to support this "law," not weaken it. This is the reason re-education through labor continues to exist even though it violates the constitution and basic human rights.

(Clearwisdom.net) I just saw the DVD lecture "Fa Teaching Given to the Australian Practitioners." After hearing Master Li talk about how a particular trip's expenditures had wasted so much of Dafa's resources, I was deeply moved. I had the following awakening and understanding: I realized that to be a genuine Dafa disciple, everything should belong completely to Dafa, since everything we own was given by Dafa and belongs to Dafa. In other words, I must treasure everything I own--money, material belongings, technical skills, including my life--and wherever possible, they should be spent completely on Dafa.

I often find that a lot of people believe that since it's "their" money, even when they use a little bit for Dafa, they feel like that they're "sacrificing" or "contributing". For those that give a lot of money to Dafa projects, over time they often develop feelings of having made an achievement, want to show off about it, or even have feelings of discontent. Then there are others who don't realize that they should support Dafa projects financially, and even if they are faced with a choice of spending just a little bit occasionally, they have to think about it for a long time--but they have no such hesitation in spending much more on themselves.

My understanding and feelings are that whenever we spend money on ourselves, we do not need to discuss it. However, when we actually spend the money on a Dafa project, we end up deliberating and hesitating. So the question is: "What is mine?" The answer is: "Everything belongs to Dafa, since Dafa even gave us our lives." I think that whatever I do, I have to consider Dafa first. Whatever Dafa needs, whatever Dafa requires me to do, I will do it. I must absolutely not be wasteful. I must treasure Dafa's resources, including special technical skills, my abilities, and my monetary resources. We do not have anything to brag about, but there is nothing for others to envy either. Whenever we can enrich ourselves, we should enrich ourselves. At the same time we can contribute everything we have to validate the Fa and save the sentient beings.

My economic situation is not that bad in terms of personal spending habits, but there is obvious waste. Often I think that, since I have money, I have every right to spend it. (It's an elated feeling of enjoyment)

However, I was deeply touched by Master's Fa lecture. I feel that, since everything belongs to Dafa, I must not indulge in my personal desires and selfishness by wasting Dafa's resources.

I am writing to share my innermost feelings with fellow practitioners.

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently I came across practitioner A, whom I had not seen for a while. She looked paler than I remembered. She wanted me to stay with her for a while and help her out. For over a year she had been experiencing illness symptoms that she didn't understand and was not able to overcome. I suggested that she go see practitioner B, but A said that B's family was out of town. Just then B showed up to visit A. Practitioner A was apparently not telling the truth.

B told me that A was planning to go to the hospital for a physical exam, would not listen to local fellow practitioners, and was reluctant to let go of her own ideas. However, A is very critical of other practitioners' shortcomings and is enthusiastic about discussing Fa principles with and listening to out-of-town practitioners. Upon hearing that, I came to a better understanding of the matter.

About being critical of others and failing to listen, how many of us have not cultivated ourselves well for the past decade, and are not willing to look inward? What struck me is that I have that problem, too. I don't know how well I have cultivated for the past eight years. There are times when I have righteous thoughts, but not too often. For the past few years I have treated practitioner C terribly. Both of us were left homeless from the persecution and we were thrown together for a few years. When we were together, I didn't even want to look at her. Even though I did, it was not with compassion. I was like this for a few years.

What thoughts did I have in my mind? It was hatred, reinforced by notions and demons. Looking at practitioner A and reflecting on myself, I know that this is not a minor issue. It was no accident that I heard about A's situation. When I read Zhuan Falun again, it was like learning about the teachings for the first time. Cultivation is about cultivating our heart. We have to be compassionate. When people do not treat me well, why do I feel wronged and angry and treat them badly in return? It was my thought karma. I was being controlled by thought karma when I didn't truly regard myself as a cultivator. For the next few days, I tried to follow Master's teachings, to look at things with compassion and kindness. When people did not treat me well, I would not fight back. It was really as Teacher says in Zhuan Falun, "...when you take a step back in a conflict, you will find the seas and the skies boundless..." (Zhuan Falun, "Lecture 9")

On one occasion I asked practitioner C a question but she just ignored me and continued talking to other people. I felt terrible as usual. Then I asked myself, had I not treated her like that? I found the cause and calmed down. I even felt very apologetic for my past behavior. I told myself that I would start to correct the situation, beginning with myself.

I once read an article in Issue No. 283 of the "Minghui Weekly." It pointed out that some practitioners validate themselves when they are clarifying the truth. I immediately thought about practitioner D. Every time I saw her, she would tell me in great detail how many people she had talked to. She was so excited, but I felt she was showing off. Then I realized, why did I want to give her that article? Why did I want to focus on her? It was clear that when she talked about her truth-clarification activities, I didn't like it. I realized that this was my jealousy coming to the surface. I found that I also have an attachment to proving myself. Our intention was good; we wanted to save people. When we did a good job, we were so excited wanted to share with fellow practitioners, yet it sounded like we were validating ourselves. When we have such attachments and are faced with people who do not want to listen, we feel frustrated. This indicates that we are unclear about Fa principles and we are not being rational. Everything is arranged by Master and Master is assisting us in everything we do. We need to be more mature and persistent.

While working with other practitioners, more attachments are exposed, such as laziness, passive attitude, and only doing what I want and not what is delegated to me. This is sentimentality (qing)--the thing that we should eliminate. Sometimes, I detested what others were trying to tell me, but later, when I realized it was good advice, I was able to change my mind. If only I could have such righteous thoughts all the time.

I just realized that looking inward is what Teacher requires of us. It is a treasure. When we truly look inward, more and more our human mentalities will diminish and will be eliminated by the power of Dafa. We will have more energy to do the three things well. We will elevate as a whole body, eliminate more evil and save more people.

Having overcome interference and my low self-esteem, I was able to write about this. Kindly point out anything inappropriate.

(Clearwisdom.net) Recently, I discovered a common problem among many practitioners. They are determined about the Fa in their cultivation and they are enthusiastic about Dafa work. However, their situations at home are not good. Some of these practitioners' family members are seriously against their practice. The others, while they may not be against the practice, have the idea that we (practitioners) owe them something. They not only feel justified in enjoying the results of the "perfect harmony" that practitioners offer, but they also are picky about the offerings. My understanding of the fundamental reason is that our practitioners do not have a clear understanding about the Fa, and are without the strong and clear idea that cultivation is the biggest and the most righteous thing.

I just "crawled" out of this human mindset. The moment that I enlightened to it, I regretted the tremendous amount of time and energy I had wasted on the issue. A practitioner told me that the Party propaganda had poisoned her family. They not only refused to help her to resist the persecution, but they held her responsible for destroying their lives. Nevertheless, she got through to her family members by demonstrating great compassion and forbearance for many years. Eventually she untied the knots that should not have held her back. Let's think about it. Master said in "Expounding on the Fa," from Essentials for Further Advancement,

"When a tribulation arrives, if you, a disciple, can truly maintain an unshakable calm or be determined to meet different requirements at different levels, this should be sufficient for you to pass the test. If it continues endlessly and if there do not exist other problems in your xinxing or conduct, it must be that the evil demons are capitalizing on the weak spots caused by your lack of control. After all, a cultivator is not an ordinary human. So why doesn't the side of you that is your original nature rectify the Fa?"

Of course. If we could have enlightened earlier, our environments would have changed a long time ago.

Another practitioner became more determined when her family intensified their opposition. When her family members gave her a hard time, her thought was, "Only when I become more determined will I improve." Although her thought was a bit limited, she did not have a human mindset. Looking back at the cultivation path that I walked on in the Fa-rectification period, I made it known to the public that I was a Falun Gong practitioner openly and with dignity. I thought this behavior was to validate the Fa! I did it in many social situations and the results were good. However, after going home, my thoughts changed. I thought that my family members would suffer with me and that I owed them, so I took care of them with my human attachments. The result was more unreasonable requests and more grief. When they were at home, I was not allowed to study the Fa or send forth righteous thoughts, nor accept visits from my fellow practitioners.

Master said in "Environment" from Essentials for Further Advancement,

"Think about it: Even people's claim that they have evolved from apes is able to be highly regarded. Yet with this great Dafa of the universe, you are embarrassed to give it a correct position--this is human beings' true shame."

From that time and on, I intentionally intensified my thought, "What I am doing to validate the Fa is the most righteous. No one can interfere with me." In addition, I added another thought, "You are my family. You also came for the Fa. You can only play a positive role. Otherwise, I don't acknowledge or allow it." Of course, I found my attachment to fear of facing conflicts. My cultivation environment then began gradually changing. Because I have found that many fellow practitioners are still facing the same problem, I wanted to share my experience and hopefully provide some help.

(Clearwisdom.net) Many practitioners in our area were arrested early this year. After I was released from the forced labor camp, I had a subconscious fear of being arrested again, yet based on the Fa's principles, I recognized the old forces' arrangements. My status was still wavering between good and bad. In particular, I knew that I still had many attachments, and I had not let go of my attachments to fame, fortune and sentiment. I knew that any attachments could be an excuse for persecution by the old forces, and I was aware that I should not think that way, but I could not suppress those thoughts. I even thought about what I should do if the evildoers went to my home, and how I should arrange my things so that they could not find my Dafa books and truth clarification materials. I knew these thoughts were not righteous, but the interference was still serious. As a result, I became extremely depressed, but in my heart I understood that I could eradicate all of this interference by studying the Fa.

When I studied the Fa today, I read the section "The Things Your Teacher Gives His Students" in Zhuan Falun, which said,

"There's another kind of person. Other people told him before that he was possessed, and he too had a feeling that he was possessed. But after it's removed he still can't stop worrying. He always thinks that he still has that condition, he thinks it's still there. But that's an attachment, and it's called suspicion. As time goes on, he might invite it again if he's not careful enough. You have to get rid of the attachment. It doesn't exist at all now. For some of those people, we already took care of their problems in our earlier classes. I've already done those things--I've taken off all the possessing spirits.

After I read this section, I was suddenly enlightened. Teacher has said again and again that we do not acknowledge the arrangements of the old forces, or even acknowledge the old forces themselves. Then why should I have fear? I am Teacher's student. It is true that I have attachments, but I can eliminate them during cultivation. That should not be an excuse for the old forces to test me. Although I did some wrong things before, the old forces are not worthy of creating tribulations to test me. I just follow the path arranged by Teacher. I have nothing to do with the old forces. After I enlightened to this, I realized that my fear was due to my insufficient belief in Teacher and the Fa.

I also discovered that I had another attachment, namely, fear of attachments. Whenever I found my bad thoughts and attachments, I experienced fear. I feared that my attachments would be taken advantage of by the old forces and I would be persecuted. All in all, I did not genuinely realize what Dafa disciples during the Fa-rectification period are, and did not achieve the standard of a Dafa disciple during the Fa-rectification period.

I wrote about my attachments so that fellow practitioners who have similar attachments may learn from them.

(Clearwisdom.net) After listening to "Teaching the Fa to Australian Falun Dafa Practitioners," I remembered something that happened a long time ago. Perhaps fellow practitioners might find it inspirational.

There is a Falun Gong practitioner in Heilongjiang Province whom I will call Adam. Before China began to suppress Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, Adam was an assistant. When the persecution of Falun Gong began, Adam went to the local government to explain the truth about Falun Gong. Like Adam, many Falun Gong practitioners were kind and trusting when they clarified the truth about Falun Gong to the Chinese government. Never did it occur to them that the wicked government officials would exploit their kindness. After Adam approached the local government, certain local government officials asked to meet with him. They did not tell him that they videotaped these meetings. Afterwards, these wicked government officials edited Adam's speeches to create hate propaganda against Falun Gong. When the edited video was broadcast in a program that transmitted lies about Falun Gong, local practitioners were shocked. The wicked officials resorted to many different approaches and channels to spread rumors that Adam endorsed the persecution of Falun Gong. They even arrested practitioners and purposely hinted that Adam was one of them and was working on collecting personal information about Falun Gong practitioners.

Adam approached these wicked officials and told them that what they were doing was wrong. Adam innocently asked them to present the unedited speeches to reflect his original meanings. But the wicked officials were very pleased with their work. They told Adam, "We have achieved our goal of causing all your fellow practitioners to hate you, suspect you and be alienated from you." Except for one or two practitioners, every one else was convinced that Adam was a special agent who had betrayed Falun Gong. Adam tried to explain that he was innocent, but no one believed him. In fact, nearly every fellow practitioner avoided him and stayed aloof. Adam was very hurt. He could only tell Teacher, while looking at Teacher's photo, about the hurtful feeling of being misunderstood. It was difficult to validate the Fa in that area, as practitioners no longer trusted each other.

In late 2000, a fellow practitioner from Changchun went to that city to exchange cultivation experiences with fellow practitioners in the area, hoping to create an environment where they could clarify the truth about Falun Gong together. Because Adam was previously one of the Falun Gong assistants in that city, the practitioner from Changchun approached him. Adam found a local practitioner willing to arrange a meeting. That practitioner, in turn, approached other practitioners in the area while Adam did a lot of work quietly behind the scenes. Adam even found a place for the Fa conference. Local practitioners were shocked and uneasy when they saw Adam at the conference. Some practitioners pointed at Adam and demanded that he leave. They threatened to leave if Adam stayed there. Although Adam yearned to exchange cultivation experiences with his fellow practitioners, he left in tears so that the conference could take place smoothly.

Because of Adam's hard work behind the scenes, such Fa conferences took place successfully and local practitioners began to trust each other again. Their hearts were joined as one again and they began to clarify the truth as a team. The practitioner from Changchun told local practitioners at the final Fa conference before he left the city, "Without Adam's selfless hard work and coordination, these Fa conferences would not have taken place so successfully." He explained the wicked officials' malicious agenda of alienating Adam from fellow practitioners and creating distrust among them. Because practitioners in the city had built up righteous thoughts on account of these Fa conferences, they quickly realized that they had misjudged Adam. Fellow practitioners called on Adam and they hugged with tears running down their faces. But these were not tears of remorse or tears of joy. Rather, they were sparks of fire when their hearts joined as one. Soon they created an environment where they could clarify the truth about Falun Gong together.

Despite the disgrace and insults, Adam relied on his steadfast faith in Teacher and the Fa and finally prevailed upon the wicked persecution of practitioners in the area. Adam has steadfast faith in Teacher and the Fa and he was selfless and altruistic. If we would have such righteous faith and righteous thoughts at all times and at pivotal moments, any attempt of persecution will not come to fruit, especially when the old forces and the wicked persecution of Falun Gong should not have existed in the first place!

(Clearwisom.net) I always feel that I spend too little time in doing the three things, especially studying the Fa and doing the exercises. I sometimes find a tiny bit of time to do these two things, just to say I did them. One day, I was doing housework. Suddenly, an idea jumped into my mind, "Why don't I finish all housework in a set amount of time?" So I told myself I would finish all housework in 20 minutes. As a result, I really finished it in that time.

From this, I realized that we can plan and control our time. If I do not have a conscious intention to finish the work in a short time, I may spend one hour, even two hours on it. That is time wasted that I could actually use to do the three things. I wasted so much time like this, and as result, didn't have time to do the three things well.

I used to have an incorrect notion. I thought there was no need to do trivial things well, such as housework. It seemed I could apparently do the three things very seriously with this kind of comparison. However, since I was not serious in doing trivial things, I was tardy and my efficiency was very low, which directly affected my studying the Fa and practicing the exercises.

Now, whenever I do something, I concentrate on it and finish it with great efficiency. I calm down, plan my time well and make full use of every minute. In this way, I am able to save more time to do the three things.

In the final analysis, my attachments to curiosity, being meddlesome, and having a desire for comfort made trouble for me. As long as we eliminate these attachments, the interfering evil forces will lose their strength, their air to breathe, and will finally suffocate and die.

(Clearwisdom.net) On the morning of October 24, 2007, Wang Yuan, a Judge, (the deputy chief of the Shihezi City Middle Court) mysteriously died. The agents of the Chinese Communist Party are on edge about this and have tried to conceal this information from the public.

Wang Fei, a high ranking official of the middle court of the Eighth Farming Corp Intermediate Court in Shihezi City, and Huang Jun, a high ranking procurator, also both met with recent untimely deaths.

Wang Fei, was diagnosed of a late stage liver cancer at the hospital of the Eighth Farming Corp. He was sent to the hospital for treatment on Monday, September 10, 2007, and died on September 13, 2007. His funeral procession was held on September 14, 2007.

Huang Jun had a stroke. He became conscious only once during his time at the Eighth Farming Corp Hospital in Shihezi, but died a short time later on September 23, 2007. There was a funeral for him on September 24, 2007. When he was alive, he was actively involved in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. He died as a result of karmic retribution within a month of being promoted to that active position.

Wang Fei and Huang Jun conspired together and bribed their subordinate officers with bonuses (3,000 to 10,000 Yuan) to accept cases involving persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. Wang once pointed a gun at his subordinate officer and forced him to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. Because Wang's subordinate officer was a just man, he denied this pressure and refused. Because these subordinate officers know the truth about Falun Gong, they respect the cosmic rule, that is, doing good deeds will enable one to receive rewards and doing bad deeds will cause one to receive karmic retribution. Many judges and procurators with righteous thoughts have also denied cases involving Falun Gong practitioners and had to find other jobs as a result.

At that time, there was a reporter from the Morning Newspaper who became involved. Wang Fei threatened him aggressively, "If you dare to report on me, I will kill you." The reporter said, "You and your gang are a nothing but a bunch of gangsters." Wang Fei answered, "Yes, but so what? this land belongs to me. It is me who makes the decisions!"

In addition to these instances, a few cases of political and judiciary officers receiving karmic retribution are listed as follows. These are people who dare to be involved in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

Wan Xiliang, male, was an employee of the Eighth Farming Corp Intermediate Procuratorate in Shihezi City. He died of heart attack at the hospital of the Eighth Farming Corp in Shihezi City on August 27, 2007. Previously, he had been actively involved in persecuting Falun Dafa disciples.

Niu Hua, male, was a high ranking officer of the Lao Street Police Station in Shihezi City. He had an accident which caused head injuries on August 28, 2007. He died a short time later of a stroke. When he was alive, he actively took part in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners and extorted their money. His colleagues commented on his death, "He deserved it. All he did was think about how to get money and where to drink, eat and play women."

Liu Hong, male, was an officer of the Lao Street Police Station in Shihezi City, who was actively involved in persecuting Falun Dafa disciples. On September 3, 2007, he was diagnosed with advanced liver ascites. He was admitted to the hospital of the Eighth Farming Corp in Shihezi City to receive treatment but died on September 5, 2007.
