(Clearwisdom.net) On August 20, 2006, Falun Dafa practitioners in Southeast Queensland organized an SOS walk to raise awareness of the recent revelations of the illegal organ harvesting trade from innocent prisoners of conscience in China.
Practitioners from Brisbane and the Gold Coast traveled north to the Sunshine Coast to support local practitioners in this activity. Beginning at a popular Sunday market place, practitioners walked nearly 10 kms through the streets of our busy seaside suburbs to inform the local community of the Chinese Communist Party's pursuit of profit at the expense of human life.
In fact, since 1999, countless Falun Dafa practitioners have lived under the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s brutal and systematic persecution, which has now escalated to CCP's live organ harvesting from many living Falun Gong practitioners without consent. Their bodies were then cremated to destroy any possible evidence!
Bearing banners, bright SOS T-shirts, fliers and determined hearts, practitioners set forth upon the walk with their message clearly visible for the passing traffic to read. Petition tables were also set up at various locations along the way to encourage the public to actively lend their support by sending their own message to our Federal Government that Australia should do all it can to bring an end to this inhuman practice. Many people expressed interest in receiving our fliers throughout the journey.
Our walk weaved through parks, along a river and beach side passing both tourists and locals enjoying their afternoon outdoors. A couple of very young practitioners also traveled the distance - one happily peddling her little bike and another pushed in a stroller.
One gentleman driving by actually stopped to sign our petition and mentioned that he was in the process of making a film on organ harvesting in China and that he intended to have it produced in the US. He had already conducted extensive research on the issue and his work was almost complete.
Our SOS walk also attracted attention from a local radio station who were keen to interview a local practitioner about the walk and our major newspaper published a story on the following day. Our walk concluded holding a wall of banners opposite a busy beach side shopping and outdoor dining area - a successful and encouraging day for all who participated in this activity.
