Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Yu Rongmei, 59 years old, lived in Daqinjia Village, Daqinjia Town, Zhaoyuan City, Shandong Province. After July 20, 1999, Ms. Yu went to Beijing several times to appeal but was intercepted and sent back.

On December 30, 1999, she and several other practitioners were arrested and held at the Daqinjia town government. At that time, 38 practitioners were held there, seven of them were in their late 60s, including Fu Xibin, Chen Yulan, Liu Lianxin, Wang Xiuhua and Yu Guilian.

After dinner on January 3, 2000, police agent Wang Jinli and hired thug Li Chunliang dragged the practitioners out individually and brutally beat them.

Ms. Yu Rongmei was the last one to be dragged out. Eight perpetrators repeatedly hit her back and buttocks with metal rods and wooden sticks until she was covered with cuts and bruises. She could hardly move.

Of these 38 practitioners, 32 were beaten that night. Wang Shushan, the Party Secretary from Daqinjia Town; Liu Yue, the Politics and Work Affairs Secretary; and Lin Zhiqiang, the head of the Armed Division, planned this beating. Ms. Yu Rongmei was released after 13 days of torture.
