University Student Dafa Practitioners in Kaohsiung (Report of activities during the previous few years)

Students at Sun Yat-sen University and First National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology organized the Falun Gong Research Society. They held regular study and experience sharing sessions and also clarified the truth with people in Mainland China via telephone.

Between May 12 and 16, 2003, members of the Sun Yat-sen University Falun Gong Society organized a Falun Dafa Week to celebrate the 11^th anniversary of Falun Gong coming to the public. The activities included picture displays, a book fair, movies, experience sharing, exercise demonstrations, talk shows, stage drama, a chorus and other events.

On May 9, 2004, the students organized a six-day Falun Dafa Week. On the first day, 4,000 practitioners from all over Taiwan came to the Kaohsiung Cultural Center to celebrate the 12-year Anniversary of Falun Dafa. They also set up a display booth to introduce Falun Dafa's spread to many universities and colleges in Taiwan. In the same week, the students also held a Future Science forum to discuss the scientific understanding of Falun Dafa.

In order to improve these Taiwan students' understanding of the Fa, from August 20 to 22, 2004, the Sun Yat-sen University Falun Gong Society organized a "Young Practitioners Experience Sharing Camp." Practitioners shared their cultivation experiences and discussed the problems they encountered in their cultivation, including negative influences from computer games and sexual temptation. They also discussed in depth the responsibilities of Dafa disciples of the Fa-rectification period, and ways to do the three things well.

(1) Distributing "Self-Immolation" Facts Door-to-door (2001)

For the nearly seven years since 1999, when the Chinese Communist regime began persecuting Falun Gong, practitioners in Kaohsiung have never stopped clarifying the truth to expose the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP's) evil persecution. At the beginning of 2001, the CCP fabricated the "Tiananmen Self-immolation" hoax to frame Falun Gong and create an excuse to use violence against Falun Gong. Soon after that, practitioners in Kaohsiung began to distribute truth-clarification information door-to-door, covering thousands of households in the area. Many practitioners carried the heavy bags of materials and walked under the summer sun, visiting all the homes in the area. People were deeply touched by the practitioners; many people learned the truth and also became Falun Gong practitioners.

(2) SOS Walk Around Taiwan Island; Rescue Practitioners in the Mainland (2001)

In 2001, the CCP intensified the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. To publicize the brutal persecution and stop the massacre, Taiwanese practitioners initiated an around-the-island SOS Walk. They appealed for emergency rescue of fellow practitioners in China. As part of the SOS Walk, practitioners in Kaohsiung held a press conference to expose and condemn the CCP's atrocities.

In March 2003, Fengshan Area practitioners organized an "SOS Emergency Walk to Rescue Changchun Falun Gong Practitioners." They appealed for people's help and support to end the large-scale arrest and murder of practitioners in Changchun, China. More than 100 practitioners in yellow shirts carried truth-clarification display boards and banners through Fengshan's streets. Their courageous action initiated a warm response from the local people.

In April 2002, to commemorate the three-year anniversary of the "April 25", 1999 peaceful appeal in Beijing, Kaohsiung Falun Gong practitioners held another SOS Walk in Fengshan's Wujia District to clarify the truth. The practitioners' walk attracted a great deal of attention from the local people.

In May 2002, the practitioners held an "SOS Emergency Rescue for Falun Gong Practitioners in China" in Chichin. More than 200 practitioners gathered at the Chichin Coastal Park to do the exercises, study the Fa, send forth righteous thoughts and participate iW the SOS walk. They called for people's support to end the CCP and expose Jiang Zemin's crimes against humanity.

(3) Supporting the "Global Coalition to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice;" Signature Drive to Stop the Persecution (2002, 2003)

On July 20, 2002, 1,200 practitioners from Yunlin County and the southern region, including Taidong and Penghu Counties, organized a series of truth-clarification activities including the "Journey of Fa-rectification Photo Exhibition," the "Thousand-person Walk" and a candlelight vigil.

On July 20, 2003, practitioners from the nine counties in Southern Taiwan gathered in Kaohsiung again for a big parade to support the "Bring Jiang to Justice" global effort. The practitioners called for people to support an immediate stop to the persecution and to bring the chief offender and major accomplices to justice.

On June 28, 2004, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong visited South Africa. He was a major suspect behind the shooting of a Falun Gong practitioner. To protest the CCP and Jiang Zemin's regime in exporting the violence of the persecution overseas, Kaohsiung practitioners collected signatures on busy streets and received warm support from the people.

(4) Anti Torture Re-enactment (2004)

In September 2004, Falun Gong practitioners held an "anti-torture exhibition" in the Kaohsiung Culture Center; through the live imitation of torture techniques used by the CCP, these practitioners exposed the crimes by the Jiang Zemin regime and called for the end of such persecution. In October 2004, they organized another anti-torture display in the "City Corridor of Light" Arts Square; the CCP's brutal tortures against Falun Gong practitioners shocked the audience.

(5) Candlelight Vigil to Condemn the CCP's Harvesting Falun Gong Practitioners' Organs (2006)

In March 2006, Falun Gong practitioners held a press conference in the Kaohsiung Wufu Middle School, to condemn the CCP for secretly harvesting the organs of living Falun practitioners. Reporters, doctors and professors who attend the press conference openly condemned the CCP for their Nazi-style concentration camps. People were outraged at the CCP's horrific crimes.

Also in March 2006, practitioners held a candlelight vigil at the Seas Bay tourist attraction area, to expose the CCP's harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. The practitioners called for the international community to investigate all forced labor camps, prisons and hospitals for organ harvesting and transplant surgery practices. They also called for an immediate release of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

(1) "Journey of Falun Gong" Art Exhition (2002)

On July 20, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners organized a two-day "Journey of Falun Dafa Art Exhibition" in the Kaohsiung Culture Center. The exhibition displayed 130 photographs and attracted many visitors. After viewing the exhibit and learning the truth about Falun Gong, many people sought more information and asked questions about Falun Gong. These photos showed several important historical facts: Falun Gong's wide- spread popularity in China since 1992; how the Chinese people and the government supported Falun Gong; the harsh persecution by Jiang Zemin's regime since 1999; worldwide Falun Gong practitioners' efforts to end the persecution peacefully; Global Coalition to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice and international lawsuits against Jiang and his followers. These pictures, arranged in chronological order, clearly presented the horrific facts about what is taking place on the other side of the Taiwan Strait.

(2) Photo Exhibitions to Validate Dafa (2005)

In order for more people to understand Falun Dafa's beauty, its history and the persecution on the Mainland, Falun Gong practitioners held two separate "Falun Gong Practitioners' Photo Exhibitions," once from November 9-15, 2005, and another during two weekends in December. Many people attended the exhibitions. The two main themes were "The Beauty of Dafa" and "Facts of the Persecution." The first theme exemplifies how the world embraces Falun Gong and how 100 million people benefited from Falun Gong. The second theme conveys the story of how Falun Gong practitioners traveled the world to clarify the truth, and their uncompromising courage facing the brutal persecution. These exhibitions drew big crowds. Many visitors expressed their outrage at the CCP's persecution. Many expressed their support and admiration of Falun Gong practitioners' faith, courage, endurance and willpower.

(3) Truth-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibit (2005)

From May 9 to 13, 2005, practitioners at Sun Yat-sen University organized a "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance International Art Exhibit" inside the Seas Bay Underground Tunnel. The 46 paintings displayed in the 265-meter-long tunnel attracted many students, professors and citizens. This art show has been touring in many countries in America, Europe, Asia and Australia. Since February 2005 when it was opened in Taipei, the show has traveled to many cities and universities in Taiwan. It has received a warm reception.

The "Truth-Compassion-Forbearance Art Exhibit" represents works by a group of accomplished artists from different backgrounds. They are all Falun Gong practitioners who have benefited physically and spiritually from the practice. Through their art, they told the world their unique understanding and personal experiences. Their works demonstrate the bright, pure and compassionate picture of their world-view. They also conveyed their longing for beautiful harmony between the heavens and humanity. Their work brought people joy, giving people a sense of peace and compassion.

In the past seven years, Jiang Zemin and the CCP have severely persecuted Falun Gong. To end the persecution, Falun Gong practitioners worldwide have used all kinds of opportunities and methods to tell people the truth: they use banners and flyers, parades and rallies, candlelight vigils, anti-torture exhibitions, press releases, press conferences, artistic performances and many other ways to clarify the truth of the persecution and inspire people's conscience. Falun Gong practitioners will continue to expose the evil through peaceful and rational means. We hope that more people will learn the truth and then work together to stop the CCP's crimes and end the persecution soon.
