On April 12th 2006, the Chairman of the Slovak Falun Gong Association was invited to appear on the "World Today" program on Slovak TV station TA3. For about five minutes of the interview, Mr. Tatarko exposed the truth behind the removal of internal organs from Falun Gong practitioners, which is currently taking place in labor camps in China. He also talked about the history of the persecution of Falun Gong in China. The TV program was organized as a reaction to denials of the existence of concentrations camps by the Chinese Communist regime.

Station TA3 covers the whole of Slovakia; in most places it is available via cable, in some locations terrestrially.

Transcript of the interview:

Reporter: What evidence is there that in China Falun Gong practitioners are brutally tortured, had their organs removed and are there concrete allegations from specific persons?

Tatarko: Of course, there are allegations from three witnesses, which speak about the same situation in several concentration camps. One of them is a reporter of a Japanese TV station, who revealed that people were detained in secret concentration camps; their organs are harvested for sale to people in Japan or abroad.

R: Secretly with regard to the people outside of the camps. Of course, the people who receive the organs must know something about this... Is this done in a brutal way, are they Falun Gong practitioners forced to do so and give their organs?

T: They don't even ask the Falun Gong practitioners. The communist party has a law, which enables them to treat people, which it regards as "class enemies" as a raw material. So it claimed the people practicing Falun Gong as its possessions, which can be treated according to the party's will, which means they the party can arbitrarily remove their organs.

R: If it is the truth, it would be unbelievable. Falun Gong was tolerated by the Chinese Communist regime until the end of the 90s. What happened by then?

T: It is indeed so. Falun Gong was supported by the Chinese government until 1999. At the beginning as it found its popularity it eventually overtook the popularity of the communist party, [the communist party] started to suppress it in a quiet way. As the people practicing Falun Gong started to oppose this persecution by peaceful appeals in different cities, [the party] started to intervene in a brutal way. One of these appeals took place in Zhongnanhai, a well known street in Beijing, where by chance the office for the appeals and government offices are situated. This appeal was considered by the Chinese Communist regime as an attack on their regime and soon afterwards they started the official persecution of Falun Gong.

R: On the screen we see exercises performed by Falun Gong practitioners. How many are there in the world and say, in Slovakia, practitioners doing these exercises, this practice?

T: In the world there are about 100 million of them, which is the number from the Chinese communist party, which counted them before the persecution. It was so to say, "terrified" by this number and it started to persecute them. In Slovakia there are many people practicing Falun Gong. In different countries it varies; I would say the most of them [except China] are in North America, where there are about 10,000 practitioners.

R: In Slovakia you have many practitioners, how do you keep contact, how do you get information from people practicing Falun Gong?

T: There exists international web pages, where we get the latest information regarding Falun Gong itself, its persecution in China, and where people share their experiences of practicing of Falun Gong.

R: I wish we had more time for this subject, but today we will not manage it, let's see if we can manage it in the future. Thank you for your visit to our television studio.

T: Thank you.
