The Best Mid-Autumn Festival Gifts for My Fellow Villagers

October 10, 2006 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner from Hebei Province

(Clearwisdom.net) The Mid-Autumn Festival is coming. A "Minghui Weekly" article about distributing Dafa truth-clarification materials to villages reminded me of a similar trip that I took around the Mid-Autumn Festival five years ago. I would like to share it now with my fellow practitioners.

I live in a town twenty miles from the village I was raised in. I'm in my sixties and I don't have any relatives in the village any more, and my parents' house was sold, too, so I seldom go back to the village.

I had a dream a few days before the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2001. In my dream, many folks from my village came to my house in town. Some of them were very skinny, some were crying, some were deeply worried, some kept putting their hands on their stomachs and couldn't stand up straight, some weren't able to speak at all and some just sat on the floor, lacking the strength to stand. I asked them, "What happened to you all?" They said, "Our village became so poor that we don't have anything to eat. We're here to beg for food. Please save us. We're about to die." I rushed to prepare food for them. When I woke up, I realized that these villagers were eagerly waiting for me to save them. There were a few Falun Gong practitioners in the village, but they stopped practicing when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong after July 20, 1999. There were no Dafa practitioners in the village anymore and it was hard for them to get truth-clarification materials.

So I packed up some truth-clarification materials and found a friend who was willing to drive me to my village the evening before the Mid-Autumn Festival. Because the CCP was so harsh in their persecution of Falun Gong then, my family members who don't cultivate didn't want me to go out in the evening. I told them that it was the Mid-Autumn Festival and I needed to visit some elders in my village. They agreed.

Carrying a big bag of truth-clarification materials (my family members thought it contained gifts), I arrived at my village at around seven o'clock. It started to get dark. I asked the driver to park the car and wait for me outside the village. I went to the east side of the main street, and facing west I calmed myself; holding up a single hand I said silently, "My fellow villagers, I'm here to save you. You all wait in your homes. Don't come out. Even the cats and dogs should stay inside." I didn't know about sending forth righteous thoughts back then, but I just felt myself extremely tall and without any fear. In those few seconds, I sent my benevolent thoughts for saving people into every house.

I distributed the truth-clarification materials along every street. I had separated and folded the materials earlier. Some were wrapped in red paper, some were in small flowered plastic bags and some were bound in rubber bands; that way I could easily get different materials and distribute them to different houses on the same street, and they could share with each other later. I included a poem because it was easy to read and remember.

It was dinnertime in the village, between seven and eight o'clock, and the doors weren't locked. I quickly placed the materials into every doorway. I walked swiftly under the moonlight and distributed more than one hundred packets of materials on every street. During that time the whole village was quiet. Nobody came out and there wasn't even a single dog barking. Half an hour later I returned to the car. The driver said, "You came out really fast. How many families did you visit?" I said, "I visited everyone I needed to visit." Then he said, "It's not easy for you to come back to your village. You must have brought top-notch festival gifts for them." I smiled and answered in my heart, "You can't know that I've given my fellow villagers the most precious festival gifts."

After the Mid-Autumn Festival I met several people from my village. They told me, "You Falun Gong practitioners are really nice. They sent red envelops to every home in our village." "Falun Gong practitioners distributed flyers all over the village just like the fairies distributing flowers from heaven." Another old man who came to visit his son in town told me, "After we received the flyers in the Mid-Autumn Festival, several of us older fellows recited the great poem when we got together." Deep in my heart, I felt joy for those people that found the truth about Falun Gong.
