Li Kemei Suffers a Mental Collapse Due to Persecution at the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp

January 03, 2006 |

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Li Kemei, from Yishui County, Shandong Province, began practicing Falun Gong three years ago to treat an illness. She regained her health quickly and has been healthy ever since. She was so grateful for being saved by practicing Falun Gong that she then clarified the truth about Falun Gong to her friends and relatives. For this, she was arrested and illegally sentenced to three years in a forced labor camp. She was imprisoned in the notorious Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, where after a year of extreme persecution she suffered a mental collapse.

After being released and returned home, with the help of her friends and relatives Li Kemei again began practicing the exercises and studying the Fa. Li Kemei soon regained her health. The miracles of Dafa again manifested in Li Kemei.

Below are the circumstances of Li Kemei's persecution:

Before practicing Falun Gong, Li Kemei suffered from all kinds of illness. Her physical pain was so unbearable that she had almost lost her desire to live. In winter 2002, her friends introduced her to Falun Gong and she began practicing. She then recovered her health very quickly.

When one family member practices Falun Gong, the whole family benefits. Li Kemei's son suffered from a large growth inside his throat, which disappeared miraculously after Li Kemei began practicing Falun Gong. Li Kemei was deeply moved by the miracles of Falun Gong.

In July 2004, Li Kemei was arrested while she was clarifying the truth in Xiaoyuling. She was brutally beaten by baton-wielding policemen in the Yuandongtou police station. She was then illegally imprisoned in Yishui County Detention Center. Li Kemei refused to tell her name and went on a hunger strike. On the seventh day of her hunger strike the prison guards dragged her to the infirmary where she was brutally force-fed. When the guards interrogated her, they punched and kicked her body and legs.

Soon after this, female practitioners Li Xiuying and Zhang Yufeng, from Huangshan County, were imprisoned in the same detention center. These three practitioners were forced to peel oranges all day long. They had to finish a big bamboo chest of oranges before they were allowed to sleep. On one occasion Li Kemei was handcuffed to an iron railing all day because guards found her sending forth righteous thoughts.

On August 17, 2004, the police from Yishui County transferred these three practitioners to the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, entering their names into the prison records as "anonymous."

As soon as Li Kemei entered the Wangcun Forced Labor Camp, she was subjected to brutal physical and mental torture. The guards ordered the inmates to force Li Kemei to sit on a tiny stool continuously for more than ten days and not to allow her to get off the stool. Because she was confined to such small stool for so long, her hips developed many bloody blisters and the pain was excruciating. At night as soon as Li Kemei dozed, the criminals pulled out the stool suddenly to make Li Kemei fall to the floor. Sometimes they dragged her to her feet by her ear to force her to stay awake. Once Li Kemei struck her face on the corner of a table as she fell, and the resulting gash bled profusely.

After Li Kemei could not endure the brutal torture any longer, she then allowed other people to write the three statements, on her behalf. Soon she realized that this was wrong, so she wrote a solemn declaration that all the statements she had signed were null and void. She was then persecuted even more severely.

The guards beat her mercilessly with fists and feet, trying to force her to curse Dafa. When this failed, the guards handcuffed her hanging from a bathroom window for eight days and eight nights. For the first three days the guards did not give her any food to eat. Even when she had to use the toilet her one hand was still kept handcuffed. She was released after hanging there for nine days. The guards then asked Li Kemei if she still wanted to practice. When Li replied, "Yes," then the guards dragged her to the floor by her hair and trampled her. A big lump of her hair was pulled out. During Li's nine-month imprisonment, the guards hung her up like this six times.

In winter, the guards did not allow Li to wear thicker clothes, and even purposely tried to freeze her, opening the windows so that snowflakes would swirl through the room. Li was only given three small buns to eat each day. She had to drink water to fill her stomach to try to quiet the hunger pangs.

When Li Kemei refused to cooperate with the forced labor camp, refusing to participate in roll call, the guards threw her to the floor and stepped on her, slapping her face. One night around ten o'clock, when the guards caught Li Kemei sending forth righteous thoughts, four or five of them came to kick and beat her head very brutally. After one year of persecution, Li Kemei had been tortured so badly that she looked like a skeleton, and she was mentally disoriented. The forced labor camp dared not bear the responsibility that Li might die there, so they ordered Li's family to take her home.

Li Kemei was a healthy person reduced to being an invalid by the persecution of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) - persecution meted upon her because she chose to practice Falun Gong.

Luckily, under the good care of her family and friends and through doing the Falun Gong exercises and studying the Fa for two months, Li Kemei gradually regained her health. The miracles of Dafa were again demonstrated through her.
