Validating Dafa at Overseas Practice Sites and Keeping a Promise

September 20, 2005 |   By a Falun Dafa practitioner from China

(Clearwisdom.net) I went to Hong Kong a few days ago. I went to the practice sites as posted on the Internet, looking for fellow practitioners. Since the times posted on the Internet for other practice sites were too early for me, I went to a practice site at Chater Garden, where practice was supposed to start at 9:30 a.m. and end at 12:10 p.m., but nobody was there. I had to leave after sending forth righteous thoughts. Later I met with other practitioners, who told me that practitioners in Hong Kong had to distribute newspapers in the morning. Thus it was that quite often no one could make it to the practice sites, as few practitioners went to the sites anyway.

As practitioners, we should follow the principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance" at all the times and in all situations. This reminds me of two issues. First, if we announce that we have a practice site in a certain location at a certain time, but fail to appear at that time, we are failing to keep our promise. Although we may be doing other work validating Dafa, on this specific issue, we are failing to demonstrate "truthfulness" and failing to achieve the effect of validating Dafa. Second, during this period of time, some veteran practitioners are stepping forward, some new practitioners are coming in, and they both need an environment for group cultivation.

It's more than just Teacher's requirement for our personal cultivation to participate in group practice in public places. It's also a way to spread Dafa and help those with predestined relationships to get to know Dafa. I believe that when a practice site is established, practitioners must have considered factors such as proximity to practitioners' residences, and their duty to spread and validate Dafa to sentient beings. If we practice the exercises and send forth righteous thoughts as a group in central Hong Kong where office buildings abound, we will not only be seen by passers by and staffers out for lunch, we will also be able to eliminate in close proximity the evil factors that are preventing people from getting to know Dafa.

I suggest we either regularly update the information posted on the Internet about practice sites and times, or coordinate with each other to maintain the practice sites as well as doing other Dafa work.

I do not know much about the situations overseas. I've made these comments based on my limited experience and pointed out the issue as I saw it. Please kindly point out anything inappropriate. Heshi.
