The Netherlands: Promoting Falun Dafa in Eschede (Photos)

June 04, 2005 |   By a Dutch practitioner

(Clearwisdom.net) On the 28th of May, Dutch Falun Gong practitioners from different areas met in Eschede on the Dutch-German border to promote Falun Gong and raise awareness about the human rights abuses against their fellow practitioners in China. Demonstrations of the gentle Falun Gong exercises accompanied by the beautiful exercise music attracted many people to stop and watch. On the opposite side of the road was an open-air restaurant where several hundred people dined. They also watched with interest. Many of them approached the practitioners who distributed information and asked for a Falun Gong newspaper so that they could find out more.

A Dutchman who spoke fluent American English approached and made inquires. He said he met a Falun Gong practitioner aboard a plane last year, so he had already learned something about Falun Gong. Practitioners told him that in China the truth about Falun Gong is hidden by the Chinese Communist Party. He said that he was very lucky to live in a Western society where he could have access to different information freely. He asked the practitioners whether progress has been made in bringing an end to the persecution. The practitioners told him that through peacefully raising awareness, the whole world has learned more and more about Falun Gong. He said he would tell the facts about Falun Gong to more people.

One Chinese tourist accompanied by relatives and friends requested a newspaper about Falun Gong from the practitioners. He said that he would take it back to China.

When practitioners sat in meditation, three children came by and followed the movements of the exercises. They stayed for quite a while.

Since Eschede is close to Germany, a lot of German people come to the city for shopping on weekends. Though the practitioners forgot to prepare leaflets in German, some German people who can speak English accepted the English material and said that they would go home to read it carefully.
