Sending Righteous Thoughts on a Trip to Beijing

February 19, 2005 |   By a Dafa practitioner from Shandong Province

(Clearwisdom.net) On December 31, 2004, two other practitioners and I were on the trip to Beijing to clarify the facts about Falun Gong. We brought a whole box of Dafa materials, including small brochures, flyers, posters and adhesive tape.

After a day of travel we reached Beijing and found a small hotel. It was already dark. We first sent forth righteous thoughts to clear our minds and to eliminate the evil activities in the Beijing region. We discussed some safety issues and then picked up some flyers and went out separately to clarify the facts.

First I stopped by a well-known university and saw the guards at the entrance. Because it was the weekend and New Year's Eve, the university campus was brightly lit and crowded, with people moving in and out. I was very calm, fortified with righteous thoughts, and walked onto the campus. As soon as I entered I felt relaxed. I started distributing flyers and posted placards with adhesive tape in the administration area, the classrooms and education area, the residential area, and the bicycle parking lot. Within two hours I had distributed a big bag of flyers. I also had posted several large-lettered Dafa banners and small posters reading, "Falun Dafa is Great."

The next day, the first day of 2005, we went to Tiananman Square in the early morning. It was a nice day, but not many people were there. The place gave people a constrained and gloomy feeling. Police cars were all over the place, at every entrance and around the monuments. There were many undercover police, too. We walked on the Square while we were sending righteous thoughts and stayed there for about two hours by continually sending righteous thoughts. I felt that no other thoughts could enter my mind as I sent righteous thoughts. One of the practitioners wanted to climb up the rostrum of Tiananmen. We walked toward to the building and got close to the guards at the checkpoint. I was calm by sending righteous thoughts and held my arms up for checking. It was strange that people in front of me were checked thoroughly by a little device, by conducting a body search, or by taking off their jackets; however, I was passed by just checking my back. The Dafa flyers hidden on the top pocket of my coat were not touched. I knew that revered Master had been guiding me and protecting me at every moment.

At the top of Tiananman rostrum the security was very tight; a group of undercover police were lined up outside the wall and stared at each traveler. It was about 12:00 P.M., the time to send forth righteous thoughts around the world. We were there, on top, and continued sending righteous thoughts for about an hour. During that time we witnessed a police car rushing to the flagpole and the officers arrested a demonstrator.

In the evening I went by myself to another university with a bag of flyers and posters. I walked a big circle at the campus to distribute all the flyers and left dozens of posters and slogans on the walls. On my way back to the hotel I posted "Falun Dafa is great" on phone booths, electricity poles and overhead cross walks. For that short stay, the three days' trip in Beijing, we accomplished what we had planned.

I would like to reflect on our experience.

First, Beijing is a place where more of the evildoing elements are gathered. There are more police, security guards, and more retirees on duty. In many residential areas there are not only security guards but also police branches. Many high-rise residential buildings have an office with guards at the entrance, and there are people on duty at elevators, in food markets and even at parking lots. Therefore, we need to be brave and careful in order to distribute flyers.

On the other hand, the old forces purposely created this environment in Beijing. It appears to be flourishing, with modern architecture and magnificent decorations everywhere. Looked at superficially, the city seems strong and the people appear to be fashionable and knowledgeable and enjoy life. Beijing residents consider themselves superior to those living in other areas. At the same time, those attractions pressured us in an indefinable way, distracted our minds, interrupted our righteous thoughts, made us weak, isolated us, and made us uncertain of our abilities or even uncertain about our mission. Actually, this is all due to the old forces' arrangements. We have to keep up our righteous thoughts and not focus on outward appearances. Once people know the truth, they will have real hope and this is their only chance.

After July 20, 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong. On my way to Tiananmen Square, I felt that all of the government machinery was focused on me, creating invisible, concentrated stress for me. Now I feel less pressured. Although something still bothers me, it hardly disturbs me anymore, because I am consistently sending forth righteous thoughts to remove the interference.

During the Beijing trip I felt the discomfort caused by the old forces and dark minions. The second night in Beijing, after distributing flyers, I was too tired to move and could not control my feet. Even though I had walked a lot in two days, for a Dafa practitioner it should not be a problem. I also felt pressure on my chest, shortness of breath, and I could not think clearly. On the way back to the hotel, I recalled the Fa in Zhuan Falun and Teacher's articles to clear my mind and negate upsetting influences. The other practitioners had experienced the same level of distraction. It illustrates that there is strong interference from the old forces and dark minions in Beijing. When we go to Beijing, therefore, we not only should do our truth clarification well, we should also not slack off on Fa study.

The second point is the importance of having a clear goal, with a righteous mind and correct thoughts. Some practitioners have wanted to go to Beijing because they did not have an opportunity after July 20, 1999. Some of them wanted to go but were afraid. Some had many ordinary people's thoughts or many fears. They could not think straight from Dafa's point of view. Their purpose was to validate themselves, which could easily cause problems and interference. It happened to several practitioners from our area. They went to Beijing to clarify the facts and were captured by police.

Compared to other places, Beijing is an environment filled with evil elements. The dark minions can see clearly from other dimensions. If you do not study the Fa constantly and do not maintain righteous thoughts or if you act like an ordinary person, the police will easily capture you.

We had clear goals for this Beijing trip: to clarify the truth and offer salvation to human beings locally in the Beijing area. Since the trip was short, we wanted to be efficient and get things done. Compared to the last Beijing trip, I was calmer and braver and sent righteous thoughts before engaging in truth-clarification. Whether I was all by myself in the dark at night, in a remote country area, or in a chilly office complex, I told the facts about Falun Dafa and distributed flyers without any fear. I knew that Teacher was there with me, and so were the Law-Guardians. No one could hurt me and I was safe in this evil environment. Of course I was scared from time to time, but I rid myself of fear through cultivation.

I strongly believe that if you really trust Teacher and Dafa and conduct yourself according to the Fa, the fear in your mind will be gone. When I was scared, I faced it and found the reasons behind it. With these righteous thoughts: "I am a Dafa practitioner and not an ordinary person! With Teacher and Dafa here with me I am not afraid of anything," I became free of fear.

The third point to remember is that Beijing is a good place to clarify the truth. Beijing is big, with so many buildings, government departments, universities and colleges, office plazas, residential areas, markets, department stores, hospitals, and wide and narrow streets, which are all good places to distribute flyers.
