Facts of the Persecution

1. Violent Force-Feeding Causes Massive Brain Hemorrhage in Liu Shuxian, a Practitioner from Baoding, Hebei Province

Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Shuxian, from Baoding Railway, in Hebei Province, was brutally persecuted at the Baoding Forced Labor Camp. Although she resisted the persecution with righteous thoughts, Liu Shuxian was brutally force-fed, and subsequently lost sensation in her right arm and leg. Officials of the labor camp chose to ignore these symptoms until a week later, when her situation became even more serious, at which time she was taken to Baoding City No. 2 Hospital for a medical examination. There, she was diagnosed with a massive stroke. Her family has now sent her to a hospital specializing in the treatment of brain disorders, and she is now finally free of the illegal detention of the forced labor camp.

2. Persecution Suffered by Gao Yueying from Xushui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province

Ms. Gao Yueying, over 50 years old, is from Dongyu Village, Ansu Town, Xushui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province. On the morning of July 19, 1999, as she practiced at her local practice site, members of the local Political and Judiciary Committee along with County police officers took her cassette player. They also sprayed the practitioners with water from a nearby faucet in order to stop them from practicing the exercises. When Ms. Gao went to Beijing to make an appeal against this illegal harassment, she was arrested and taken back to her town's local government building. While held there, she was kicked and beaten. As a result of this treatment, she developed a buzzing in her ear that took a year to recover. On December 5, 2000, she again went to Beijing. This time, after being arrested by the police working with the Political and Judiciary Committee, she was detained at the Xushui County government headquarters. She was again tortured in various ways and all of the money she was carrying was confiscated. On March 2, 2001, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor. In July 2002, members of the "610 Office" abducted her again, this time taking her to the Basi Village Brainwashing Center, in Xushui County. Staff there physically punished her, beat her, verbally abused her, forced her to stand outside in the cold of winter, locked her up in the "small cell," forbid her the right to speak and would not allow her to use the toilet. Following this horrific and unlawful abuse, personnel of the "610 Office" transferred her to "Baoding Legal System Education Center" for further persecution.

3. Persecution of Falun Dafa Practitioners in the Harbin Women's Jail in Heilongjiang Province

In the Harbin Women's Jail in Heilongjiang Province, the guards order four criminals to supervise each Falun Gong practitioner. Every movement and action of the practitioners is monitored, and they must obey the criminals' requests and orders at all times. Some male guards have said directly, "If you want to live, you must transform. If you want to die, I can beat you to death today." Practitioners who refuse to transform suffer long-term brutal torture and physical punishment. Ren Jihong, Li Xuelian, Qu Yuping, Liu Kun, Ding Yu, Zhao Xin, Cheng Fengying, as well as others were given haircuts designed to humiliate them. Zhang Yanhua, Liang Yanqiu, Zhang Shuzhe, amongst others, were locked up in the "small cell," and treated inhumanly for over a month. The prison has a rule that the maximum period of wearing a torture instrument is 15 days, but Falun Gong practitioners have no such time limit; guards can also extend their confinement periods at will. Many practitioners' health situations are grave, and they are on the verge of death after long periods of both physical and mental torture. Some practitioners meet the requirements to be released on bail for medical treatment, but they are not allowed to leave because they refuse to write the four statements renouncing Falun Gong against their belief.

5. Persecution of Chongqing Falun Dafa Practitioner Huang Zhongying

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Huang Zhongying is a worker at the Chongqing Hecheng Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company. She went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, but was stopped on her way there and detained for 15 days at the Jiangbei District Detention Center. Following this, she was harassed at various times by the person in charge of her neighborhood committee. The factory director and secretary at her workplace, Cuntan Police Station director Zhang Wogen, and other Security Section personnel also came to her home often to harass her. To escape further persecution, Huang Zhongying left her home in September of 2000. On April 2, 2001, five or six policemen from Jiangbei Public Security Sub-Bureau abducted Huang Zhongying, first stealing from her several hundred yuan in cash as well as a bankbook to an account valued at more than ten thousand yuan, and then holding her in their detention center for twenty-two months. Eventually, Jiangbei District Court illegally sentenced Huang Zhongying to three years and six months in prison, and sent her to the Chongqing Yongchuan Women's Prison. Vicious guards in this prison assigned teams of four drug addicts to supervise each Dafa practitioner. These prisoners attack, slander and brutally beat practitioners, and are rewarded with reduced terms for themselves. Dafa practitioners are forced to work 17 hours each day. Under this brutal treatment Huang Zhongying's right hand became disabled, and the fingers of the right hand still have not retained their full range of motion to the present day. On April 2, 2001, police officers even abducted Huang Zhongying's son, Zhou Wenyong, and detained him for 22 days at the Jiangbei Detention Center.
