In 16 BC, the ancient Roman Emperor, Augustus, constructed many buildings, such as the Splendor Palace, Bath Pool and the Arena. It was once the capital of ancient Rome. It witnessed the luxurious life style of an Emperor and the fall of the Roman Empire. After 1,800 years, Karl Marx was born here. His birth heralded a dramatic change in modern history.

On September 4, Falun Dafa practitioners from Trier and nearby areas visited this historic city and held a Falun Dafa Information Day in Porta Nigra for the first time.

It was the weekend. The sky was especially clear after raining for a week. The passers-by were like flowing water. With the peaceful exercise music in the background, practitioners started the beautiful and graceful exercises. Passersby could not help but slow their hurrying footsteps. This is a small town in a valley, which grows sweet grapes all over the mountains. The tourists who come on vacation on weekends are mostly French, Italians, Austrians, Polish, English and Norwegians. There are also some tourists from North Africa and South America. Of course, there are Chinese tourists.

As soon as we set up the display booth, a local youth who happened to pass by urgently asked where there was an exercise site. He was afraid that practitioners would go away, so he went on asking, "When will you finish? I will come here again..." A professor who came from Norway to teach German in the university enthusiastically invited practitioners to take a picture with him.

An Austrian came to the front of our display booth. He could not help but imitate practitioners doing the exercises. He told a practitioner that it was coincidence that he wanted to practice cultivation for a long time, but he did not know how and where to do it. Thus, he wanted to buy the book Falun Gong on the display table. Seeing him so urgent, practitioners gave him the book. He still kept on asking, "Can I give you a donation?" Practitioners refused with smiles. After leaving the booth, he came back several times to see practitioners practice the exercises. Many people asked where there were exercise sites as soon as they came to us. They also told practitioners that they knew about Falun Gong from the media reports.

At noon, a local pianist who often performs in Europe and America passed by on his bicycle. After listening to a practitioner's explanation of the truth, he immediately signed his name on the petition to "Bring Jiang To Justice." A woman also passed by on a bicycle. She stopped at once to receive materials from practitioners. She said, "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance is very good. What you do is very good. Can I practice the exercises with you?"

An elderly man who stood in front of a group of people asked, "What's the matter? Why are there white people practicing Chinese Falun Gong?" A practitioner explained, "The universal principle of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance has no boundary of race or nationality. This is practiced by people all over the world." The old man nodded his head several times. Then, he asked about the gestures of 'sending forth righteous thoughts' and their meaning. More people came to listen to the conversation. The man went on asking, "Hasn't the human rights in China improved in these years?" The practitioner told him that Masanjia Labor Camp in China had imprisoned more than one thousand Dafa practitioners who believed in Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. Meanwhile, China was still expanding the prisons. The elderly gentleman became silent. He patted the practitioner's back lightly and left in silence.

An elderly couple who came from Hamburg stopped in front of the display booth pictures. They carefully read the notes on the illustrations. They told a practitioner that they had gone to China and had deep feelings. The economic situation in China was much better than before. The cities in China were more and more modernized. In the port of Hamburg, one could see Chinese containers everywhere. However, the Jiang regime's restriction on basic human rights and the freedom of belief of the Chinese people is still horrible. She said that she was reading books about the Great Cultural Revolution. She felt sad about the evil politics that causes spiritual and psychological burdens for people. At the same time, she was also moved by the spirit of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance and the behavior of Dafa practitioners. She said touchingly, "You are noble people."

A doctor of psychology was moved by the tranquility of Dafa practitioners. She said that she would introduce Dafa to more people so that they could have healthy souls.

A cute little boy, who was four or five years old, walked in front of a practitioner by himself. He reached out his little arm to take a copy of a Dafa newspaper, and then walked back. Everyone looked at him in surprise. His grandmother had already cried out in surprise. Then, we saw the boy give the paper to his father, who was looking around and was inattentive. Everyone smiled.

A Chinese girl passed by with her camera. She approached and seriously read the information that accompanied the pictures. When she was leaving, a practitioner gave her some materials, but she slightly shook her hand. But there was smile of encouragement and admiration in her eyes. I believe that the goodness of Dafa was already in her heart. Some Chinese boys passed by and cried out, "Falun Gong!" Everyone started to take pictures. A college student who was going to graduate from the department of business management originally had prejudice toward Dafa because of the slanderous propaganda. After listening to a practitioner explain the truth, and seeing practitioners quietly do meditation, distribute materials, patiently explain to passers-by and tourists with peaceful and mature tones, and seeing that practitioners ate simple food and did not pursue fame and money, he said, "You are so great! If I were to open a company, I would employ Dafa practitioners. Please persist in what you are doing."

Two practitioners took the opportunity to see the Memorial Hall of Marx's former residence and gave a Dafa newspaper to the staff there. The lady happily received it and read it at once. Afterwards, the practitioners went to the Beijing Restaurant nearby. When seeing practitioners wearing yellow T-shirts, the Chinese people there exclaimed, "We don't want the materials of Falun Gong." The practitioner compassionately and peacefully said, "We come here from other cities. It might be our predestined relationship that we can meet here. I hope that you can read these materials. After hearing the truth, you can judge for yourselves, all right?" Their manners became softer. They accepted the materials and said thanks.

At four o'clock in the afternoon, a group of tourists from southern China passed by the booth. Practitioners gave the information to the people who lagged behind the group. People in the front stopped and said, "We also want some. I haven't got one yet." Practitioners quickly went back to the booth to find VCDs. They then left with satisfaction after they all got the information.
