The historic legal action against Member of the Chinese State Council Chen Zhili (news) has taken a major step forward. The preliminary judgment in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, on August 3 was in favor of the Falun Gong practitioners in Ethiopia, on whose behalf attorneys brought the case.
With the judge's decision, the civil action has been concluded, clearing the way for a criminal trial. The case is now in the process of being moved to the Chief State Prosecutor's office.
The case was initiated as a civil action via an affidavit filed on July 19. The affidavit alleges murder and torture of Chinese teachers and students who practice Falun Gong. Chen was Minister of Education from 1998-2003, during which time at least 61 teachers or students were killed for practicing Falun Gong.
Chen appeared in front of the judge on July 19, marking the first time any Chinese official responsible for the persecution of Falun Gong has appeared in person at any of the legal actions filed in many countries.

(Clearwisdom.net) Falun Gong has been repressed in China for nearly five years. What on earth is Falun Gong? What kind of people are the Falun Gong practitioners? I think people already know the answers to those questions.
Whether it's the victim of the persecution, the authorities, or the bystander, there is a consensus that Falun Gong is a good practice that teaches people to be good and helps them achieve physical and mental health. Falun Gong practitioners are good people. Due to the different social status and situations, people might have different attitudes and reactions towards them.
As the target of persecution, Falun Gong practitioners, under the most unfavorable circumstances, are persistently defying the persecution in a rational and peaceful way by doing what they think ought to be done.
Their family members and friends have changed. In the past, they tried to stop the practitioners from confronting the government by saying, "You should obey the government," "How can the arm beat the thigh in wrestling!" Some even helped the government to repress practitioners, but in most cases it was because they were afraid of the government. Nowadays, although they are still not in favor of confronting the government, they are determined to protect the legal rights of their family members who are practitioners. Now they dare to defy the illegal arrests and detention of their family members. It is a defiance generated by the pressure.
As for those who participated in the persecution, some of them have awakened and stopped doing it in one way or another or to a certain extent. Those who still have not awakened, especially those who try to "transform" the detained practitioners, are very weak. They can only use a few ridiculous excuses to defend themselves such as "We should follow whatever the government says," or "I am only carrying out orders from higher authorities."
As for the bystanders, they know clearly the reasons behind the persecution. More and more people are speaking for justice. All this seems to be the natural result of the changing situation. However, do many people realize the consequences of repressing Falun Gong? I'd like to talk about my understanding of that issue.
Consequence One:
The dignity of law is destroyed. Ever since China adopted an opening up policy, Chinese people have been trying to step away from the regime of dictatorship in the Cultural Revolution period, and striving to build up an environment of democracy and law. Although there has not been a fundamental change in China's political system, the significance of law has been gradually building up in peoples' minds along with the construction and improvement of the legal system. However, such a young and fragile legal environment has been completely destroyed by Jiang's 'persecution of Falun Gong. It is not only a simple issue of authorities overruling the law or suppressing the law with human power, but to override the Communist Party's rules and the state law with one's own will. Jiang's oral orders have become the so-called "Supreme Direction," just as what happened during the Cultural Revolution period. For example, judicial organizations and law firms are prohibited from defending the victims, nor are they allowed to take up the cases filed by the victims or help with their appeals.
One time, the husband of a practitioner went with some of his relatives and friends to see his wife who had been detained in the custody center. Among his relatives and friends was a legal worker who raised challenging questions about "the legitimacy of repressing on Falun Gong." However, the husband seriously told him not to mention anything about law to the police in the custody center. He said, "If you irritate them, my wife is going to suffer in their hands."
There is a practitioner who knows about the law. When he was trying to use his legal knowledge to argue with the administrative staff in the 'brainwashing center, the staff said sarcastically, "You dare to talk law with the Chinese Communist Party? The party is the law. Whereas in here, I am the law." The staff' member's rude words might just represent himself, who is not well educated. But for the people working in the legal system, they too do not dare to carry out the law or face the law. Some of them even join those who break the law. What a shame!
Consequence Two:
The human rights issue is more serious. Repressing Falun Gong is illegal and unjust. Falun Gong practitioners follow the principle of Truth-Compassion-Forbearance to do good deeds and to be good people. To repress such a group of people, the methods used would certainly be evil, such as "Send the cement heads (the practitioners who are firm in their belief) to hell," "beat them to death and claim that they committed suicide, then send them to be cremated without verifying their identity," "lock them up in mental hospitals and keep them drugged," "police who search a practitioner's house can keep the valuables as their own, " "police can rape female practitioners, or the wife and daughter of male practitioners and they won't be reported." In a word, all sorts of inhumane and offensive conduct is protected and encouraged under the name of "Cracking down on Falun Gong."
A low level party secretary of a political and legal committee who is in charge of the Falun Gong issue told the following story with emotion, "A friend of mine owed some money to the township government. The officials sent people to take his wife away and beat her in the same way as they treat a Falun Gong practitioner. Her body was beaten black and blue all over. It was outrageous." Incidents like that are just too many, such as the "Sun Zhigang Incident," ('Note: Sun Zhigang was a college student. Police stopped him to check his ID. He didn't have it on him. So he was taken as a jobless guy wondering around in the street. According to the regulations, people like that should be put together and sent back to their hometown. Yet Sun was beaten to death in the interrogation. China adjusted the related regulations after the incident.) "Covering up the mine accident," "the treatment of the democratic activists," and "the abduction of people working for a just cause."
Consequence Three:
Speaking the truth is considered a crime. In order to persecute people practicing Truth-Compassion-Forbearance, what's been advocated must be "Lies-cruelty-evil." To speak the truth is risky. To speak the truth is likely to offend people in power. To speak the truth will be repressed. On the contrary, to tell lies has become the rule to follow. It is so even with national media, which is full of lies.
When Jiang was interviewed by a CBS journalist, he dared to tell lies in front of the world. What's more, he claimed that all his lies were absolutely true to the fact. With people like him in power, can anyone who speaks the truth get any good result? Dr. Jiang Yanyong, the retired medical doctor in the PLA General Hospital, is a person who pursues truth. He takes it as his life principle. Under the circumstances of the Chinese government covering up the SARS epidemic, Dr. Jiang, out of the instinct of a medical doctor and the conscience of a person, submitted his suggestions to his superiors to no avail. When they wouldn't listen, he broke the truth of SARS to the public. It is exactly his just action that forced the authorities to publicize the information of SARS and implement measures to check the disease from further spreading. However, this national hero has also become a target of Jiang's 'persecution.
Consequence Four:
Corrupt officials on every level have all learned to use the power in their hands to protect their own interests. One of the major social issues that irritates the public is the corruption of officials. After Jiang seized power through illegal means, he has used corruption as one of the major ways to strengthen his power. To those who follow him, he gives them the green light to corruption and protects their "achievements in corruption." As for those who do not follow him, he uses corruption as an excuse to get rid of them, and uses their cases to demonstrate his "resolve in attacking corruption". The corruption is systemic, carried out from the top down to the bottom. When those in power are corrupt, will they still be able to serve the people? Instead of serving people, they are annoyed when people attempt to stop them from embezzlement. Therefore, they have to hold up the banner saying, "A stable society is the most important." In fact, as long as their power is stable, and the interests of their families and their circle are rapidly expanding, they 'don't care about trivial matters, such as food and shelter for unemployed workers, or the widespread bankruptcy of state-owned enterprises, China and Russia border issues, or the life and death of Falun Gong practitioners. They are making use of everything to their own benefit. Once they see someone annoying, they use the state machine and people's money to crack down on him.
As the saying goes, the subordinates imitate the superiors. Nowadays, the subordinates have been keen to detecting the intentions of their superiors. If the superior asked the subordinate to do two important things, one is to "organize the rescue of people from the natural disaster," the other is to "silence the one who reported on me." I am pretty sure that a larger number of the subordinates will choose to do the latter without hesitation. They seem to have a simple excuse, "He paid us. We shall certainly help him." "My boss provides me with food and shelter. Of course I shall follow his direction." Under the guidance, many staff in government offices are willing to be used as slaves and servants.
The above mentioned consequences are what I can think about for now. There must be more that I didn't think about and more to come in the future. Why am I so sure? It is because the repression of Falun Gong is totally injust. It violates social norms and the historic tides.

3. Jiang's Regime is the Culprit Who Utilizes All Means to Impose Mind Control in China
If Falun Gong has nothing to do with imposing mind control in China, then who is the real culprit?
Since ancient times, an old technique used by a thief to cover himself is to yell, "catch that thief." With the declining moral standard, this phenomenon is being brought to new heights in China. One bizarre occurrence is that the most corrupt person usually is the one who cries the loudest against corruption. The Chinese public is intimately aware of this fact. By the same token, on the question of mind control, Jiang's followers announce that they are against cults and mind control. However, in actuality, they themselves are guilty of controlling the minds of the people of China. It is they who have taken away freedom of belief. During the past several years, the persecution and suppression of Falun Gong by Jiang's followers proves this point.
The core of Jiang's followers' persecution of Falun Gong is to imprint their anti-Falun Gong sentiment into the minds of the Chinese public. Under this campaign of state-sponsored terror, not only Falun Gong practitioners, but also all Chinese people are being deprived of their independent thinking and right to express different ideas. People are without choice but to accept Jiang and his followers' way of thinking.
In order to achieve their goal, Jiang's followers use every conceivable inhumane technique, bringing together all methods ever conceived during the course of human history. On the eve when the persecution was to be launched, Jiang Zemin himself cried out, " Destroy them! Destroy them!" "I just don't believe that Chinese Communist Party can't win over Falun Gong." While beating practitioners, police cry out, "If you are not reformed, I guarantee that you will wish you were dead instead of alive!" All of a sudden, terror has blanketed every corner in China. The all-encompassing reign of terror is everywhere. Whoever doesn't conform will be punished, which means that either their careers are ruined or they are jailed, leaving a broken family behind. According to the limited information available, more than one thousand practitioners have died in the persecution. Under this terrorism, whoever goes along with the present dictates will prosper and whoever opposes it will perish. We have to ask ourselves, is there any difference from the bloody persecution of Christians by the Roman emperors? Isn't it even worse than what happened at that time? Isn't this happening only because Jiang has controlled the minds of the Chinese people? Isn't that mind control?
I am a Falun Gong practitioner who was persecuted in a forced labor camp. I personally experienced this behind-the scenes plotting, the so-called reform, which is being beautified as, "feeling just as soothing as the spring wind and rain." I will not repeat it here since the media has already covered this terrorism overseas. I just want to tell you a true story about a professor from a university who held a Ph.D., whom I met in forced labor camp. He benefited from practicing Falun Gong both physically and mentally. He knew that everything that was publicized by the government about Falun Gong was fabricated and he refused to be "reformed". To make him give in, guards forced him to carry loads of human waste under the hot summer sun without help. He refused to yield. Police continued to increase the degree of torture until his feet no longer carried him. They still didn't give up torturing him. But he still would not yield to them. The guards then employed an even more cruel method. They took turns torturing him by depriving him of sleep. He still did not yield. They then dragged him into a room and tied each of his arms to a chair. Seven or eight guards held him down. The leader of them, with his feet resting on a desk, said, "I have all the time I need today and I don't believe I can't deal with you. Are you going to be reformed or not!" The practitioner paid no attention to him. Then one brought an electric baton and beat the most sensitive spots of his body. His miserable cries were heard outside the room. Even today, the painful cries still echo in my mind. What is reform? This is what they call reform.
Under such brutal coercion, some practitioners reluctantly consented to quit practicing. However, guards still wouldn't leave them alone and continued to torture them mentally. How was it done? It wasn't over even after these practitioners said they would quit practicing. Police forced them to write "Five Statements," such as "Guarantee Statement," "Repentant Statement" and "Denouncement Statement." (1). Writing them once wasn't sufficient. One had to keep writing them until the police were satisfied. Finally, some higher-level personnel had to approve these statements. For the sake of destroying these practitioners' spirits completely, they forced them to mark an "X" on Teacher's picture and spit on it. If a practitioner didn't spit or mark the "X" on the picture, the torture and brainwashing would continue. Depriving practitioners of their right to independent thinking; depriving them of basic human dignity; forcing them to listen to endless hours of recordings defaming their practice and their beliefs; if this isn't brainwashing and mind control, then what is?
A researcher who is specialized in cult practices divides mental control into four categories, i.e., message control, behavior control, emotional control and thought control. In analyzing Jiang's regime persecution of Falun Gong by these four categories, we can see more clearly who is trying to use mind control in China today.
First, from the aspect of message control, the fabricated lies about Falun Gong launched by Jiang's regime reflect the practice (typical of cults) of "what I say goes." They deprive and tramp on the public's rights to know the truth about Falun Gong. In the past five years, the public could only hear the lies about Falun Gong, broadcast over and over and over by the only media in the country: Jiang's state controlled media. Hardly a single word said is true.
Just like one knowledgeable person said: "All the lies made over the course of history don't compare to those made by Jiang regime. They cover every aspect of human ideas. Different lies were created to suit different mentalities in order for everyone to accept the lies and to create resentment towards Falun Gong. If one believes in science, they'll say that Falun Gong is superstitious. If one doesn't like being involved in politics, they'll say that Falun Gong is involved in politics. If one is jealous of others becoming rich and going abroad, they'll say Falun Gong is accumulating wealth. If one doesn't like organizations, they'll say that Falun Gong is a very strict organization. If one is tired of decades of personal idolization, they'll say that Falun Gong is using mind control. If one is very patriotic, they'll say that Falun Gong is being used by foreign powers against China. If one doesn't believe in qigong, since it is hard to grasp, then they'll say that practicing Falun Gong will lead one towards insanity. If one likes the stability of society, they'll say that Falun Gong disrupts social stability. ¡®Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance' is Falun Gong's central teaching; they'll say that Falun Gong is against truthfulness, against compassion and against forbearance. They fabricated the lie that ¡®Falun Gong compassion will lead to murder'. If one believes that the government could not fabricate so many lies, they'll create bigger and bigger lies: from suicide to self-immolation, from family murder to mass murder, and so much more, so they can force you to believe them."

(1) "Five statements": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the five statements consist of a statement of repentance for having practiced Falun Gong in the past, a guarantee statement to never again practice Falun Gong and associate with other practitioners, a promise statement not to appeal for Falun Gong, a statement of denouncing Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.

My name is Chen Lin, and I live in Shizhuang Village, Pingwang Township, in the South Suburban District of Datong City, Shanxi Province. I became a carpenter after graduating from middle school in 1979. I once became very sick from being overworked and since then, have not been able to work overtime. After a traffic accident in 1981, I became an insomniac -- sometimes I could not sleep for several consecutive days. My health was generally very poor and I was always taking medications for one thing or another.
My wife, Liu Xiuqing, was afflicted with psoriasis in 1980. When her symptoms were at the peak of severity, her entire body became swollen, and thick, white, dry skin would flake off. Wherever she bent her body, the dry, tight skin would be torn apart, leaving deep, cracks in the skin, which were open wounds that took longer than normal to heal. Severe itching over her entire body constantly tormented her, and although we tried many remedies from different doctors, there seemed to be no cure. There were severe side effects from taking all those medications all year long as well. Her health deteriorated from all the side effects caused by the medications, and it seemed like a case in which "the 'cure' was worse than the cause." Her employer stopped paying for her medical expenses. In April 1997, After feeling she had no hope, a person told her that practicing Falun Gong had great curative powers and learning it was free of charge. She was overjoyed to hear about it. Only several days after starting to learn Falun Gong, her skin became noticeably softer. She would get up in the morning to practice the Falun Gong exercises, and read Zhuan Falun in the evenings. One month later, the large patch of psoriasis on her body had begun get smaller. The dry, white skin and red swollen spots had returned to normal. "It is a miracle!" she exclaimed. For sixteen years, she had never worn a dress because of her skin disease. Now she could wear dresses and her appearance had completely changed.
When my wife's skin condition was improving, she asked me to practice together with her. I did not want to exert myself, so I would pretend to be doing the exercises for a little while, and then quickly escape.
One day while I was working, I suddenly felt ill, and after going back home, found that I had great difficulty moving around. I was anxious get better without having to miss any more workdays, so I took some medicine in the form of injections and pills. They still did not enable me to move well enough, however, and I had to be helped when lying down or getting up. My wife said, "Since you can't do anything right now anyway, why not read Zhuan Falun? [main book containing the teachings of Falun Gong] Maybe you will feel better after reading this book."
She went to work while I stayed in bed and quietly read Zhuan Falun. The more I read it, the clearer I felt. I had always wondered about so many puzzles in my life, and this book explained them to me so clearly. As I was reading, some of the characters on the page became images of Buddha, and that was truly wonderful! I felt very comfortable with it, like I wanted to keep reading this book forever. It was so profound! I read Zhuan Falun three times in seven days. There are profound meanings in the book, of which I had seen only a little bit, at the time. After reading the book, I discovered I could get up and down by myself, feeling "a miracle beyond description."
On the eighth day, I went back to work, and also began my true cultivation. I knew that Zhuan Falun was exactly what I needed. My third eye has been somewhat open since before the age of twelve, and on the first day of practicing the exercises after reading the book, I saw a beautiful Falun, about 25 centimeters (close to 10 inches) in diameter. I felt that life was worth living again. Three months later, my stomach disease and headaches were gone, I could sleep well again and I no longer felt exhausted from working. I've been rejuvenated from being weak and sickly, to becoming a stronger, younger man; and that is truly a miracle!
Two years later, on July 20, 1999, Jiang and his rogue regime banned Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners who believe in the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" were suppressed. Overnight, the government would not allow people to become strong and healthy. They confiscated their Dafa books and tortured practitioners, depriving them of their constitutional rights to belief, to appeal and to free speech.
Practicing Falun Gong, one can reach the ultimate in heath, and thus contribute more to the country by having a good thoughts and a strong body. Why not promote this? In addition, practitioners do not compete with others, but only cultivate their "mind nature" or moral character, to become the best person possible. Why, then, is Jiang so afraid of it? Is it because he fears more people will become good?
Therefore, we Falun Gong practitioners all wanted to raise our heartfelt voices to the government, and appeal for Falun Gong because it was being unjustly persecuted. To our surprise, speaking the truth was not allowed. They handcuffed us, and even sent us to forced labor camps. What kind of law they were following?
On December 19, 1999, my wife was sent back to her work unit at a local chemical plant. The chemical plant's "610 Office"(1) and security officer Xia Guihe fabricated "crimes" against her and sent her to a detention center. They withheld her 593 Yuan (2) per month salary. That was simply an act of robbery, which the rule of law does not tolerate. My family could not survive without her salary; and my son had to quit school and help support the family.
On August 28, 2000, my wife was sentenced to three years of forced labor for handing out truth clarifying materials. While ransacking our house, the police made a point of peeling our "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance" sticker from the wall. It is strange -- why are these police so afraid of people being honest and kind? The police stole our water kettle just like common thieves. All of their behavior was so contrary to our principles. The authorities had our income stopped, leaving my fifteen-year-old son alone at home with no money on which to live. We are not allowed to believe in Falun Gong or conduct ourselves according to the principle of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance," otherwise we are accused of "violating the law."
On December 18, 1999, in Beijing, the police at the Shanxi Provincial Liaison Office extorted money from me, and the next day they returned me to my home province, to the Shuipoci Police Substation in Datong City. Because I refused to renounce my belief in Falun Gong, they sent me to the Datong City No.1 Detention Center.
I never violated the law; I was only exercising my constitutional rights and appealing in Beijing for justice for Falun Gong. Therefore, my detention was illegal, so I refused to comply with the regulations in the detention center. The police then instructed some criminal prisoners to torture me. I was robbed of all my money and possessions, and forced to sit motionless for longer than ten hours per day (3). I explained the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong to the prisoners, demonstrated by my own example of conduct that Falun Gong practitioners are all good people and let them see the cruel nature of Jiang and his followers. Several prisoners said they wanted to learn Falun Gong after they were released.
I was released after forty days of being detained. I returned to my home, which had lost all its peaceful feeling, and the persecution continued to escalate. Village security officer Liu Gui closely monitored me, restricted my personal freedom and extorted money from me.
In April 2000, someone informed my boss that I was a Falun Gong practitioners while I was working on a carpentry job at the park. As a result, I was fired from my job as my employer didn't want to attract the wrath of the police for hiring me. The police confiscated my Falun Dafa books and 400 yuan in cash I had in my pocket. They also retaliated against my employer and banned him from his jobsite at the park, thus costing him a huge financial loss.
I found myself once again living an inhuman existence in the detention center, where we were forced to watch television propaganda programs slandering our Master and Dafa. I had only thin clothes and slippers to wear, regardless of the season. I had no bedding to use, always sleeping by the door with the cold wind blowing through it, which was usually very cold. The police forced me to stand (4) outside on the playground during cold winter days. People were unaware of the truth, their twisted minds poisoned by lies. I explained the facts about Falun Gong to them by sharing my personal story, helping many people in the detention center to learn the truth. I contracted scabies (5), and was released four months later.
Upon my return home, village security officer Liu Gui and two lesser village officials forced their way into my house, exclaiming, "You are violating the law if you practice Falun Gong. I will not allow you to stay in my area so you must leave now!" They called a taxi for me and kicked me out of my home by force. It was -20¡ãC (-4¡ãF) in the winter and my scabies were bleeding. After about ten miles, they tried to drop me off in the middle of nowhere, but the taxi driver persuaded them to let me go to a place of refuge. I decided to go to my older brother's home in Dongfen Village. Upon hearing my story, Dongfen Village head, Jiu Shenggen, came to my brother's home and threatened, "I want to harm you before you can harm me." He assigned Bai Cunshan to monitor me, causing my brother's family life to be disrupted.
I realized that I could not stay at my brother's house permanently, and that it was more important to continue clarifying the truth about Falun Gong to the public. As a result, many villagers eventually came to know the truth, that Falun Dafa practitioners were innocent victims condemned by the police who followed Jiang's directives, and soon many began sympathizing with the practitioners. The village police then began to apply pressure to my brother.
As the Spring Festival [Chinese New Year] was approaching, I went back home to spend the holiday season with my son. Under the dictatorship, my life was restricted, and I was deprived of my freedom. The anti Falun Gong policy made by Jiang, to "ruin their reputations, bankrupt them financially, destroy them physically" had made living among the general public become even more foreboding. The third day after going back home, on January 24, 2001, the Chinese New Year's Day, Liu Gui came to tell me, "If you want to live at home, you will need to pay me 300 yuan. Otherwise, I will call some gang members to break into your house and you won't dare to live here." When he came again on January 29, I tried to reason with him but he refused to listen, and he beat me. When he came again on January 31, he said, "The Party is like this, and because no one will dare to speak up for you, and I can do whatever I want. Don't you dare try to live here without paying me the money!" So once again, I was kicked out of my own home.
Some relatives were afraid to accept me because whoever let me stay with them would suffer no peace from the authorities. My northern home town is too cold in the winter, so I ended up living a homeless life in order to avoid being arrested at home, and headed south. I was begging for food and sleeping in fields. Wherever I went, I heard of many Falun Dafa practitioners being tortured. Jiang used 25 percent of all State financial resources to persecute Falun Gong, which unfairly created an extremely bad impression of Falun Gong for ordinary people. I clarified the truth all along the way, exposing the persecution with my personal story. As a result, many kind hearted people discovered the truth, and helped me.
At 2 a.m. on March 23, 2001, I was walking along a road in Jinan City, Shandong Province, when several people jumped out of a white van, asked for my identification and wanted to search me. I thought they were robbers, but they were actually plainclothes police. They pushed me into the van, sent me to Qihe County Police Station and handcuffed me to the heating pipes. They sent me to a detention center the next day without any charge. There were several Falun Dafa practitioners there whose detention had already been extended for three to six months beyond the expiration of their terms of sentence. The police allowed us only two small steamed buns, and a bowl of soup containing only three pieces of spinach. One of my fellow practitioners kindly saved his steamed buns for me, in fear that I might go hungry. Several days later, I was sent to Datong City and the authorities there tried to force me to pay them, 5000 yuan. They were arresting good people without reason, and still wanted us to pay them money! They finally stole the last eleven Yuan that I had.
In Datong City's Pingwang Police Substation, Officer Luo told me, "If you pay us ten thousand yuan, our Director said that you can go home. Otherwise, we will send you to prison or to a forced labor camp." I asked him to explain the reason for requiring me to pay so much money, and he said that the order had come from the Provincial level, and that they had no choice but to comply with the order, simply to keep their jobs.
I was sent to East 6, in the Datong City No.1 Detention Center, and locked in there for four months, where the daily routine included such things as body searches, bullying, beating, being verbally abused, exposed to the freezing cold outside for long periods, being forced to "sit army style" for long periods of time and having all personal belongings stolen. Some Falun Dafa practitioners were shackled with steel chains weighing over 20 lbs. There were thirty persons locked in a room smaller than 20 square meters (215 sq. ft.). We had to eat, drink, wash and use the toilet, all inside that little room. We had to sleep on our sides, pressed tightly together and would lose our spot if we had to use the toilet in the middle of the night. We had to take turns acting as security guards at night. All thirty of us had a total of less than two hours for bathing and using the toilet for the entire day. When the bathing time was over, even those of us who were then still waiting in line for our turn were not allowed to shower or use the toilet for the entire day. I cannot imagine how many innocently detained Falun Dafa practitioners like myself there must be.
One day, I received notice from the authorities for a one-year sentence to a forced labor camp. They had detained me for four months last time, although my notice showed that it should have been for only three months! It's really no wonder they kept me so long because even after stealing my 400-yuan, they still wanted to extort another 200 yuan from my family. The longer I was detained past my term, the easier it was to extort ransom money from my family.
On July 27, 2001, fellow practitioner Ms. Meng Xianghua and I were both back-cuffed (6) and sent to Taiyuan Forced Labor Camp. On the ride to the camp, Ms. Meng began clarifying the truth to the police, and an officer then elbowed her in the throat and held it there. I tried to persuade the police to stop, but they continued pressing against her throat for several more kilometers. They turned the vehicle around and returned us to Pingwang Police Substation, then locked us in a metal cage overnight before sending us to Taiyuan City in ankle shackles the next day.
As soon as we entered the forced labor camp, the police were instructing the criminal prisoners how to torture us. They did not allow us to talk and, while verbally abusing us, denied us our legal rights to fill out a report regarding the abuse we received. Who is truly damaging the law? Who is truly producing disorder, violating human rights and depriving citizens of their freedom of belief?.
The police have no oversight within the legal system, so they are allowed to misbehave with impunity. They force practitioners to curse Master and slander Falun Dafa with all their might, administering tortures such as forcing a practitioner to stand facing the wall for a long time and forcing practitioners to memorize the labor camp regulations within a limited time. Whoever dared to tell anyone the facts about the persecution against Falun Dafa or clarify the truth, was pulled aside and beaten. Imagine how great a strain on a person's heart from being deprived of sleep and then forced to stand for such a long time! It was actually a way of slowly killing a person! They forced us to sit on the stool more than ten hours (7), resulting in a loss of equilibrium and bodily functions. The worst-case scenario would result in rendering a practitioner disabled. The police forced prisoners to do revolting things. For example, a practitioner was once forced to eat a piece of steamed bun that had first been dropped into liquid filth. Practitioners were forced to do calisthenics under the baking sun. If their movements were not good enough, they were kicked or beaten, and anyone shouting "Falun Dafa is good!" was instantly beaten.
One day, I lost consciousness in a brainwashing class because I had been forced to sit all day and was deprived of sleep for a long time. My legs would not move, so some fellow practitioners carried me to the clinic. However, the police still assigned me to mop the floor, clean the cells and wash the open pit toilets. They sent me back to Ward No.3, where they tried to brainwash me again. By the time they finally released me, I was on the verge of death.
On February 15, 2002, I was shocked when first entering the door to our home after my release. The gate and doors were all standing open. The weeds were overgrown and as tall as me. And where was my son? The house was completely empty, dusty and messy, as if no one had lived there for a long time. After cleaning it for three days, the village thug came around again. He said that my going to the labor camp had resulted in a financial loss to him of a 2000 yuan bonus. No wonder they work so hard on the persecution; there's extra money in it for them! Security officer Liu Gui often came to my place after he had been drinking, to humiliate me with a body search, beat me or extort money from me. Police took turns harassing me every several days. They would ransack the place, threaten me, force me to be fingerprinted and restrict my freedom. One day, the police climbed the wall into my yard and ransacked the place. I had nothing left except for my Falun Dafa book. Then they took away my only possession, my precious Dafa book. I often lost consciousness from the intense pain throughout my entire body, especially in my bones. Once, when I regained consciousness, I realized that ten days had passed! Prior to being sent to the detention centers, I used to weigh 160 pounds but now I weigh only 70 pounds, with nothing left but skin and bones. Village security officer Liu Gui once told me, "If you don't give me some money, I can't allow you to live at home." Then he grabbed me by the collar, spun me around several times, then threw me onto the bed. It took me a long while to catch my breath again. He returned later with a number of plainclothes police, unreasonably questioning me and shouting at my son. When I asked them to which branch of which police force they were assigned, they walked away without answering. Although I was not tortured to death, I am now disabled and unable to work.
One day, my son was crying, "Daddy, even though you are like this, the bully still comes to harass us. How can we possibly survive?"
I replied, "There is nothing wrong with cultivating Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance. Those good-for-nothings have been decieved by Jiang's deceitful policies, and they are unaware of the harm they are doing. The wicked will never reign over the righteous, however. Doing good deeds will be rewarded with good fortune, and doing evil will be punished with retribution. Whoever treats Falun Dafa practitioners with kindness is certain to have a good future!"
My wife was released from the forced labor camp on November 29, 2002. Her employer has now joined the group that harasses our family on a daily basis. The chemical plant's "610 Officers" tried to force us to write a "reformed statement"(8). When I then clarified the truth to them, they had nothing to say and quickly left. They held a brainwashing session for my wife at her workplace. I have been tortured to the point of disability, and my wife has had two years of salary withheld from her.
I seriously warn all those who would do harm to Falun Dafa practitioners: Stop persecuting Falun Gong at once! Instead, put those wasted human and material resources to better use in building the country! Release all the detained Falun Dafa practitioners! Return to the people their freedom to practice Falun Dafa! Return my Falun Dafa book! Bring Jiang to justice!

The Women's Labor Division of Dalian Labor Camp in Liaoning Province is a place where guards torture steadfast practitioners at will and use all sorts of brutal measures to try to destroy their beliefs. They selected violent inmates to physically abuse practitioners. Below are some of the accounts from the Women's Division of Dalian Labor Camp, which accounts for a small portion of the persecution there.
The torture includes sleep deprivation, electro-shocks, forcing batons and pepper into the practitioners' vaginas, force-feeding with human excrement, forcing the body into awkward positions for prolonged periods of time, and solitary confinement.
The women's division in Dalian Labor Camp comprises of four groups. Practitioners were distributed among the four and mixed with criminal offenders. Under directions from the camp officials, each group uses great cruelty to force practitioners to write "conversion letters." They guards encourage criminal offenders to take part in the beating of practitioners in addition to doing it themselves.
Ms. Yuan, the prison guard who had become the captain of the women's division by savagely torturing practitioners, would torture practitioners at will, constantly scolding them or putting them in solitary confinement while twisting their arms. The most steadfast practitioners have been tortured by her. Many practitioners have been put in solitary confinement several times. The torture cases of practitioners Sun Yan, Chang Xuexia, Qu Sumei, Xu Jinhuan and others have been exposed internationally. They beat Ms. Li Jun from the Dalian Chinese Herb Medical School so severely that they ruptured her spleen.
Guard Yang Jing directed four criminal offenders to beat up practitioner Yang Jun, bruising her whole face, blackening her eyes, and causing her to limp. They also forced her to do hard labor. Yang was put into solitary confinement quite often and forced to remain standing in place for long periods of time. Her memory has become impaired and emaciated due to the abuse she has suffered. Later she was handcuffed to the bed frame, left sitting in her own excrement.
The guard Yang said: "Whoever does not listen to us will be beaten." She encouraged criminal Wang Xin to beat practitioner Wang Lijun. A big patch of Wang Lijun's hair was pulled off, and her face was bruised and swollen. Bystanders tried to pull the Wang Xin away, but they couldn't. Guard Yang stood by and said: "One either gives up Falun Gong and can go upstairs, or she will be treated very harshly."
Guard Yuan got help from Wan Yalin, Yuan Lingyue, and Han Janmin, whose crimes had been exposed previously, to persecute practitioners both mentally and physically. They did not let practitioners sleep and kept fabricating false articles from Teacher, and organized criminals to to brainwash them.
Practitioners were forced to do slave labor for more than ten hours per day. The labor included picking beans, knitting gloves and hats, sewing clothes, packaging chopsticks, tying beads, rolling cotton balls, tying seaweed, and shredding vegetables. Each person was assigned a very heavy workload every day. For example, to separate beans according to their colors, each person needed to finish a quota of 333-667 lbs per day. For tying dried seaweed, everyone was assigned a whole box of about 89-111 lbs. Loading and unloading the heavy boxes are part of the work too. Some older practitioners or some injured practitioners had to work over ten hours a day while limping around. It is extremely hot in the summer. With such a heavy workload and so little sleep, some of them were extremely tired. They couldn't keep their eyes open, with their hands trembling. The guards would then order them to stand up and work.
The schedule of the day was as follows: get up at 4:50 am and begin to work; breakfast at 6:30; continued to work again at 7; lunch at 1:30; and work ends at 10 pm. Quite often, practitioners had to work till 1:30 am in order to finish their quota. Not long after laying down, exhausted, it was time to get up again. Normally the restrooms were locked up. Only during the breaks in the morning, noon, and evening were practitioners allowed to use the restrooms. Whoever did not finish her assigned quota would not be permitted to have meals or use the restroom. On top of that, they would be punished to stand and not allowed to sleep at night. The guards said: "Not finishing the assignment means that you need to be worked on. The work you do does not earn enough for your meals."
The working environment was very bad. The vegetables they shred were saturated with lots of salt water, which wet the entire floor. Practitioners stepped in salt water all day and their shoes and feet were soon damaged. The Women's Division shipped in a bunch of plastic shoes and sold them to practitioners at a price inflated by 2-3 times. The workshop was filled with people, and guards are constantly yelling at the practitioners.
They searched practitioners everyday after work to see if they carried articles from Teacher. Every now and then the Women's Division office would go to each group without notice to do body searches. If an article were found, they would apply very cruel torture or extend their terms. After the manual labor during the day, practitioners were forced to recite the camp rules and regulations. Whoever refused to do so would be deprived of sleep or punished to stand, and continue with their labor the next day as usual.
The labor camp makes money by forcing practitioners to work, and they also extort money from them by selling goods at inflated prices. They would buy daily necessities of cheap quality at low prices and sell them to practitioners at 2-3 times the market value. They forced family members of practitioners to buy moon cakes that the camp made, at a price 5-6 times higher than they were sold outside. The family members that came to visit practitioners were required to buy lunch there at very expensive prices. Money and clothes that the family members sent were often stolen.
The above is only a partial account of what happened in Dalian Labor Camp, seen through my own eyes.

His home was at Apt # 409, Building No. 29, Residence of Jihua Petroleum Refinery in Yushu Street, Longtan District in Jilin City. He started to practice Falun Gong in October of 1996 and his physical health improved in many ways.
In November 2000, the police station at Jihua Petroleum Refinery kidnapped Gong Zhenqing and detained him for 15 days.
Only half a month after Mr. Gong was released, the police station tried to force Mr. Gong Zhenqing to give up practicing Falun Gong again, but Mr. Gong refused. Then the police station sent Mr. Gong Zhenqing to the No. 3 Detention Center of Jilin City. After a month in the detention center, he was sentenced to one year of forced labor at Huanxinling Labor Camp in Jilin City. Mr. Gong's health suffered a lot due to the persecution he endured in the labor camp, and he was bailed out for medical treatment.
During his recovery at home, Mr. Gong received pressure from his family to give up practicing Falun Dafa. Policemen from the local police station also went to harass him often, threatening and intimidating him, which made Mr. Gong Zhenqing unable to practice the exercises and study Falun Dafa books peacefully. Mr. Gong Zhenqing was harassed so many times that he was seriously traumatized physically and mentally and he finally gave up his practice of Falun Dafa.
In the last few years after he gave up the practice, Mr. Gong began to suffer relapses of old diseases, including uremia. Starting from May 1, 2004, he could not eat any food. Local Dafa practitioners talked with him and he began to deeply regret giving up the practice.
On June 15, 2004, Mr. Gong Zhenqing wrote a solemn statement and expressed his will to resume his practice of Falun Dafa, to double his efforts to make up for lost time and become a genuine cultivator. However, because he had quit practicing for such a long time, his health continued deteriorating. He passed away at home at 11 p.m. on the evening of June 22, 2004.

Solemn Statement of Gong Zhenqing
My name is Gong Zhenqing, and I am 45 years old. I started to cultivate Falun Gong in October 1996 and my health improved tremendously as a result.
However, in November of 2000, the police station at Jihua Petroleum Refinery kidnapped me along with 8-9 other Dafa practitioners, including Huang Guangyu, Shang Chunguang etc., and took us to the police station. The policemen also confiscated some truth-clarifying materials and reported my kidnapping to the security department of my factory. Security department head Dou tried to force me to tell them the source of the materials. I refused to tell them, so he then kicked me and beat my head. Subsequently, I was detained for 15 days.
Just two weeks after I was released and went back home, the police station came to harass me again and pressured me to give up practicing Falun Gong. I refused to cooperate with them, so the police station sent me to the No. 3 Detention Center of Jilin City. After one month in the detention center, I was sentenced to one year of forced labor. In the labor camp, all the detained Dafa practitioners started a hunger strike together to resist the persecution. Policemen used many electric batons to wildly shock practitioners, and they beat and kicked us for a long time. Many practitioners were beaten so fiercely that few areas on their bodies were left uninjured. Some detained criminals were stunned and even frightened to tears after witnessing such brutality. After I was sent home from the labor camp, due to my strong attachment of fear, I could not focus on studying Falun Dafa teachings. The police station also came to my home to harass me often and made me unable to practice. As a result, my old illnesses recurred and I have been unable to recover. I wish to double my efforts and become a genuine Dafa practitioner.

After Jiang's regime started to persecute Falun Gong on July 20, 1999, practitioners in the Dongxihu District of Wuhan City illegally sent to forced-labor camp include: Si Sulan, Li Xiantao, Huang Hongying, Huang Liuyan, Wei Liuzhen, Tan Li, Wang Jin, Xiao Gaopan, Wang Changzheng, Zhang Baodong, Zhang Lidang, He Yan, Ms. Jiang from District Water Conservancy Bureau, Li Keming, Zhou Mingchang, Chen Feng, Li Chihua, Hu Jiancheng, Liu Juying, Hu Wangxiang, Shi Binglian, Li Jinxiang, Lu Yalin, Grandmother Li from Sanzhigou, Zhang Shuliang, Zhang Dakui, Yu Lantao, etc.
Practitioners Zhang Shuliang, Zhang Dakui, and Yu Lantao went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa and were illegally sentenced to jail. In addition, at least 40 practitioners from other areas who came to the Wujiashan in Dongxihu District to distribute truth clarification materials and whose names are unknown were detained. With the creation of the "610 Office," more than 200 practitioners were illegally arrested, detained, and forced to go through brainwashing sessions. This does not include those practitioners from the breeding plant.
In late 1999, Si Sulan and several other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal and were arrested by police from the Dongxihu District. The practitioners were forced to attend brainwashing programs for a long time after they were escorted back. Since they were later illegally sent to a forced-labor camp for insisting on practicing Falun Dafa, their workplace laid them off. When the Cotton Mill authorities in the Dongxihu District publicly announced the sentence of those practitioners to forced labor education, all the people present all thought the government was abusing its power and jailing innocent people.
In 2000, Tan Li and Wei Liuzhen went to Beijing to appeal. After they were arrested and escorted back, they were sentenced to forced-labor education. Hu Yaping also went to Beijing to appeal. After she was arrested and sent back, she was often forced to attend brainwashing sessions and she was dismissed from her administrative position and from the Chinese Party. When practitioner Li Xiantao was at home late one evening, she was decieved into opening the door for the police, who illegally arrested her, sentenced her to forced-labor without trial and detained her in Hewan Labor Camp.
In March 2001, Wang Changzheng, Xiao Gaopan, Wang Jin, Zhang Baodong, Bao Huarong, Shi Binglian, and Li Jinxiang all went to Xin'andu and Dongshan to distribute Falun Dafa materials. All of them except Bao Huarong were arrested by the police and sent to a forced-labor camp. Bao Huarong was arrested while distributing materials that clarified the truth about the persecution of Falun Dafa in Etou Bay and was later sent to a forced-labor camp. Ms. Jiang was arrested by the Xincun Police Station while she was distributing truth materials in residential areas. She was also sent to a forced-labor camp.
In July 2001, Ms. Wang, a practitioner from Hanchuan who temporarily lived in Wujiashan and made a living by polishing shoes, was arrested while clarifying the truth to people on the street. The first section of local police department arrested Ms. Wang and sent her to the First Women's Detention Center in Wuhan City. Ms. Wang insisted on continuing her practice of Falun Gong so the prison guard beat her so fiercely that she was traumatized and suffered a mental collapse. Also, Ms. Wang's husband was unemployed for a long time without any income and all of her three children lived on her income from wiping shoes. Now she has been brutally persecuted because she insisted on retaining her belief in Falun Gong, and has been deprived the ability to maintain basic human life.
In August 2001, Liu Juying and Huang Liuyan were arrested by police while posting truth materials on Jingshan Blvd. They were then illegally sent to a forced-labor camp. Huang Hongying and grandmother Li went to the home of Lu Yalin to send forth righteous thoughts (also including Ms. Lu's grandmother). Several police followed them and broke into Ms. Lu's home. They arrested the four elderly practitioners claiming they were "illegally gathering." Ms. Lu's grandmother was over 80 years old and was also detained in the detention center. Because they refused to renounce their belief in Falun Dafa, all four practitioners except Ms. Lu's grandmother were all sentenced to a forced labor camp.
On the evening of September 17, 2001, Chen Feng and Zhou Mingchang in Qiaokou were arrested by Sandian police while distributing materials that clarified the truth about the persecution of Falun Dafa. Policemen handcuffed and hung Mr. Chen Feng for several days and nights. They exposed him to mosquitoes and also refused to provide him with food and water. Three or four policemen often fiercely beat up Mr. Chen and burned his fingernails with cigarettes. One day, several policemen from the no. 2 section of the police department (one of them was the section chief) beat and kicked Mr. Chen. Later, Mr. Chen and Zhou were sent to Hewan Forced-labor Camp to be further persecuted.
On the evening of September 26, 2001, Zhang Changfa from the no. 1 section of the police department broke into the home of Li Keming and confiscated things inside and outside his house. Zhang Changfa also confiscated the tools that Mr. Li used to make handicrafts to earn a living, Dafa exercise tapes, and the manuscript paper that Mr. Li's grandson used for his schoolwork. Policemen also used these things as the evidence to justify their persecution. At 9:30 that evening, less than 15 minutes after Mr. Li was arrested by officer Zhang Changfa, four policemen from the no. 1 section broke into Mr. Li's home again and arrested his wife. At that time, Mr. Li's wife, Hu Wangxiang, shouted to the nearby residents. Two policemen covered her mouth and forcefully threw her into the police car and sent her to Woman's Detention Center.
One time when police illegally interrogated Mr. Li Keming, officer Zhang Changfa carelessly revealed that he took Mr. Li's house-key from the detention center and went to ransack Mr. Li's home again while nobody was there. Li Keming seriously told Zhang Changfa, "Such actions are illegal and I will certainly sue you in the future!" It is hard to know how much property Zhang stole from Mr. Li's home.
Practitioner Li Keming was sentenced to two years' forced labor education and all the evidence submitted to justify his sentence was all false. Someone said that Li Keming gave 2,000 Yuan to someone in January 2001, and then asked them to print 3,000 copies of truth clarification materials, which was to be distributed at the Dongshan Farm. These were all lies. Mr. Li Keming was arrested while being subjected to a brainwashing session on December 14, 2000, and was not released until July 13, 2001. What kind of truth-clarifying work did Mr. Li do outside the detention center? It was said that Mr. Li distributed materials at Dongshan in late March.
Ms. Cao was a retired farmer in her 70's who worked on the Cihui Farm. Before she started to practice Falun Dafa, Ms. Cao had all kinds of diseases. Her physical health greatly improved after she started to practice Falun Dafa. In 2000, Ms. Cao was stopped on her way to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa. She was escorted by police back to Wujiashan. After that, her home was ransacked and she was forced to attend brainwashing sessions many times. Because this old lady insisted on her belief, the "610 Office" forced Cihui Farm to stop paying Ms. Cao's pension. In the brainwashing program, the staff forced her to press her fingerprints on a statement. It was said the head of "610 Office," Lin Zhengxing, and the head of brainwashing program, Li Dengchun, forced the staff to take this action in order to obtain a larger bonus. Before Ms. Cao was released, Li Dengchun, Huang Yanfei, and other staff members in the "610 Office" extorted several thousand Yuan from Ms. Cao's family which they claimed were living expenses while Ms. Cao was being forced to attend the brainwashing program.
Wang Dashuang's father, brother and wife all practiced Falun Dafa. In early 2000, they went to Beijing to appeal and were arrested by the police. They were often illegally detained and forced to go through brainwashing. Sometimes four of them were detained in the same detention center, or in two separate brainwashing programs, or they were monitored for a long time. After Mr. Wang Dashuang's father was illegally arrested, Hehuahu Farm refused to pay his pension for a long time. Because Mr. Wang Dashuang went to appeal for Falun Gong, Hehuahu Farm also confiscated the money (severance fee) that they owed him after they laid him off. Mr. Wang's wife was also laid off in Dongxihu Cotton Mill. They still had a child who went to school and their life was very difficult. Mr. Wang had to maintain their basic life by doing hard labor.
In January 2002, when Zhang Lidang, an official from the District Government went to work, Liu Gongping from the Xincun Police Station arrested Mr. Zhang and sent him to the detention center. Liu also ransacked Zhang's office and home and took away many of his Dafa materials. When police came to arrest Zhang Lidang, Mr. Zhang publicly accused the police's illegal actions while many pedestrians stood and watched. In the detention cell, Zhang Lidang refused to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa and was further persecuted. The police directed the head of the cell where Mr. Zhang was being detained to beat him.. Mr. Zhang was beaten so fiercely that two of his ribs were broken. Later, he was sentenced to one and half years' of forced-labor. Mr. Zhang was also removed from the position of deputy section chief. In the brainwashing class in early 2001, Zhang Lidang clarified the truth and blamed the head of the brainwashing program, Li Dengchun, for defaming Dafa. Li Xingpu from the "610 Office," as well as Lin Zhengxing and Li Dengchun moved Mr. Zhang from the dorm to the detention center to be persecuted. Fifty days later, they sent Mr. Zhang to a brainwashing program.
Li Zhi and He Yan, middle-school teachers from the no. 4 middle school in Wujiashan in Dongxihu District went to Beijing to appeal and were arrested. The principal of their school cooperated with the "610 Office" and illegally detained the two practitioners in the school (later, he sent them to a brainwashing program). Because they refused to renounce Falun Dafa, the school refused to pay their salaries. Li Zhi obtained Dafa in March 1999 and greatly benefited both physically and mentally. Because Ms. Li Zhi insisted on her belief, her husband (an official of the Human Resources Department) cooperated with the "610 Office" to beat Ms. Li. He sometimes even broke a stool leg while beating Ms. Li and sometimes he beat and kicked Ms. Li until he felt too tired to continue. Li Zhi often had large bruises over her body for a long time and her husband didn't stop beating her until Ms. Li became critically ill and hospitalized. In the summer of 2002, Ms. Li Zhi passed away in hospital from the abuse she received at the hands of the police and her husband who was poisoned by the propaganda.
In October 2002, He Yan was arrested and sent to the Sandian brainwashing class where she was sentenced to one year in a forced-labor camp because she refused to give up her belief in Falun Dafa. At that time the head of "610 Office" was Qian Changlai.
In June 2003, Li Chihua, an official from the National Tax Bureau was arrested and sent to a brainwashing class by Liu Gongping from the Xincun Police Station. Mr. Li's copying machine was also illegally confiscated and the location for printing materials that contained the facts about the persecution was destroyed. Afterwards, Mr. Li was sentenced to one year of forced labor education. Chen Yantang from Hanchuan City was arrested by the Xincun Police Station, and because he refused to cooperate with their requirements the head of the police station, Wang Jianping, beat and kicked Mr. Chen along with 5 or 6 policemen. They didn't stop until they felt worn out. The police department detained Mr. Li for 15 days and then sent him to the Hanchuan Detention Center for 10 days. Mr. Chen Yantang felt unbearable pain all over his body, his kidneys were injured, his whole body was swollen, and he had great difficulty passing urine.
The above are several accounts of torture and persecution that I know Falun Gong practitioners in Dongxihu District have received. The deputy head of the Dongxihu District Police Department, Li Xingpu was the head of the "610 Office" and all the documents to illegally arrest, detain practitioners or sentence practitioners to forced-labor education were all issued by him. The three previous heads of the "610 Office" were all notoriously cruel. One of them was Lin Zhengxing (now Party secretary of Zoumaling Farm); one was Li Dengchun (a previous Party secretary of the court and now retired), and the third was Qian Changlai (originally from the military department and then transferred to the district Political and Legal Committee; he is now the head of district Environment Health Bureau). The deputy head of the Xincun Police Station, Liu Gongping was specifically in charge of the Falun Gong issue. He often led policemen to ransack practitioners' homes and arrest practitioners. The arrests were often directed by Feng Zhuanyun, the Section Chief of the No. 1 Section of district police department whose office number is 86-27-85398643. The previous deputy section chief, Zhang Changfa, section staff--Xiao Huang and Xiao Wang, were very active in ransacking practitioners' homes and arresting practitioners.

Five years after the start of the persecution of Falun Gong, the repression of Falun Gong is escalating in China. Since the time of its prohibition on July 20th 1999, more than 1,000 practitioners of this cultivation way have come to a violent death at the hands of the Chinese security forces. In April and May 2004, more than sixty Falun Gong practitioners were violently killed in police stations. There are still tens of thousands of practitioners being held in re-education camps where they have been taken without due legal process.
The Society for Threatened People accuses the People's Republic of China of blatant disregard for their constitutional guarantees of freedom of belief and for purposely criminalising a peaceful spiritual practice. Beijing is conducting a systematic annihilation of a spiritual group consisting of millions of followers who are viewed as a threat to the exclusive power of the Communist Party. Unfortunately, to this date, the new Chinese leadership has largely perpetuated the policies of the former party leader and head of state, Jiang Zemin.
Falun Gong practitioners are regularly tortured after they are taken to police stations, although torture is officially prohibited in China, and although the People's Republic is a signatory of the Anti-torture Convention and thus committed to enforce the law against torture nationwide.
Neither the use of torture, nor the violent deaths of Falun Gong practitioners are being prosecuted. Not only do police officers go unpunished but are also rewarded by their superiors for especially brutal measures taken against the spiritual group. Thus, the People's Republic of China does not only disregard her own laws but also international law. We, the Society for Threatened People, will take measures to ensure that leading Chinese politicians who have ordered the annihilation of Falun Gong will suffer the legal consequences of their acts.

After hearing that Charles was imprisoned in China and has been subject to torture, members of this group made many appeals, collected petition signatures, wrote letters to Congressmen, and sent postcards to the Nanjing Prison where Charles is held. They also visited Congressional Representatives along with Falun Gong practitioners.
Charles has been imprisoned for 18 months. In order to allow more people to learn about Charles' situation, uphold justice, and bring Charles home as soon as possible, Terry personally made a 3-minute video program which has been broadcast on several cable TV stations in nearby cities. Chen Zhili was summoned to appear before the court. The following is a translation of RFA special correspondent CK's report on August 2.
On July 30, a group of international attorneys representing Falun Gong practitioners announced that a lawsuit was filed against Chen Zhili in the African country of Tanzania.
Falun Gong practitioner Duan Li from San Francisco is a member of a legal group composed of Falun Gong practitioners from various countries. Ms. Duan told this reporter: Falun Gong practitioners entrusted international human rights attorneys to file a lawsuit against former China's Minister of Education and current State Councilor Chen Zhili for torture and extra judicial killing. At the same time, she utilized the Chinese education system to indoctrinate teachers and students against Falun Gong. On July 19, we filed legal papers in the Capital of Tanzania.
After her state-visit to South Africa and Zimbabwe as China's State Councilor, Chen Zhili started her four-day visit to Tanzania on July 17. What was most remarkable was that before Chen Zhili left Tanzania, she was summoned by the court and she appeared before the court.
Ms. Duan Li said that Chen Zhili was the first (Chinese official) summoned to appear before the court in reference to the case and therefore she believed that this was really historically significant.
Between 1998 and 2002, Chen Zhili was China's Minister of Education. She is currently a State Councilor in charge of culture and education. The persecution of Falun Gong has been especially fierce and cruel in China's education system. The Massachusetts-based "World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong" (WOIPFG) released its investigation report against Chen Zhili March this year.
During a telephone interview, the organization's spokesperson Mr. Wang Zhiyuan said that when Chen Zhili was the Education Minister, she launched a campaign throughout China's education system to suppress Falun Gong. For instance, when students take examinations to enter a higher school, the entrance exams included questions defaming Falun Gong. Students are forced to answer those questions against their will. If they don't, they lose their qualification to enter a higher school. According to available information, in just 2003, at least 435 Falun Gong practitioners from 210 China's colleges or universities were sent to labor camps or psychiatric hospitals. Over the past few years, 61 are known to have died as a result of the persecution. It is natural that Falun Gong practitioners filed a lawsuit against Chen Zhili.
Tanzania that accepted this case is located at east Africa. It implements an independent jurisdiction system of a democratic country. Before Chen Zhili, at least 10 Chinese government officials including former Chinese President Jiang Zemin were sued by Falun Gong practitioners in the U.S., Canada and some European countries.

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 14, 2004, Ontario Superior Court filed a notice to the Bank of China to freeze the personal assets of Pan Xinchun. Pan is Chinese Deputy Consul General in Toronto and was found liable for slandering Canadian Falun Gong practitioner Joel Chipkar this past February. Because Pan refused to comply to the verdict, giving the excuse of consular immunity, the court took this further step.
Chinese Government Intervention Fails to Reverse Court Order
After the verdict had been delivered, the Chinese government instructed its lawyer to write a strongly worded letter to the court on February 3, 2004. It stressed again and again that Pan had been ordered to express the standpoint of the Chinese government by writing a letter to the Toronto Star, and Pan therefore should be entitled to consular immunity. The letter also stated that the Chinese government would take necessary moves to push forward a motion to overthrow the verdict.
At the same time, Chinese government pressured Canada's Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to intervene in the case and threatened that otherwise the relationship between China and Canada would be severely damaged.
In a return letter, Mr. Chipkar's lawyer enumerated laws Pan had violated and stressed that Pan wasn't entitled to consular immunity. If the Chinese government would push forward a motion to overthrow the verdict, the lawyer said that Mr. Chipkar would oppose it.
Later on, Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs stated that Canadian government won't intervene in the case and stressed that in the past two years Canadian government had repeatedly reminded the Chinese embassy to Canada that interfering Canadian internal affairs is not acceptable.
After the failure of diplomatic intervention, Pan continued to defy court verdict and refused to comply. Under this circumstance, the Ontario Superior Court filed a notice to freeze Pan's assets and allow garnishment on July 14, 2004.
The case has attracted wide attention inside the Canadian government. As it is the first case against a diplomat to Canada, the Department of Foreign Affairs has received large amount of media inquiry. Some offices of Members of Parliament called Mr. Chipkar for more details about the case.
On behalf of the Canadian Falun Dafa Association, Mr. Chipkar recently delivered a letter to Ontario Attorney General to request the Ontario government to thoroughly investigate hate-incitement activities of the Chinese Consulate in Toronto. Mr. Chipkar said that Chinese diplomats have continuously spread animosity in Canada, but they cannot violate Canadian law or attack Canadian citizens with the excuse of consular immunity. Chipkar said that the court has ruled that "calling Falun Gong a cult" in Canada violates Canadian laws.
Chipkar said that he would request the Department of Foreign Affairs to deport Pan if he continued to defy court order.
Canadian Media Extensively Report the Court Order
After the court issued the notice to seize Pan's assets, many mainstream media reported the news. The Globe and Mail featured the story with a photo of Mr. Chipkar meditating in front of Chinese Consulate in Toronto.
The Globe and Mail said that China had made numerous unsuccessful requests to the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade to intervene in the case and influence Canada's position on consular immunity. "This is an extremely serious issue . . . with potential substantial consequences for the state of relations between Canada and China."
Nonetheless, both the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade have reportedly refused to intervene in this case.
Mr. Chipkar's lawyer said that his client could serve Mr. Pan notice to attend a judgment-debtor examination to explain his lack of payment and disclose any assets he may hold.
Chipkar recently told Ottawa Citizen: "It's incredible that the Chinese government can attack Canadian citizens with impunity," he said yesterday. "This isn't China. Here I am standing alone and fighting the Chinese government, but I have no choice but to keep going forward. It's a matter of principle. The money is irrelevant."
VOA reported that a spokesman of Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs expressed recently that it is a Chinese diplomat's function to obey the Canadian law.
The spokesman said, "According to Provision No. 55 of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations regarding consular officials, all consular officials must respect the laws of the countries in which they are staying, but cannot intervene with the internal affairs of the countries."

Is
Falun Gong a cult or merely a self-directed path to personal enlightenment?
Although the practice of Falun Gong has been branded as a subversive cult in China, practitioners in the United States insist that it is a way to improve the body, mind and spirit through exercise, meditation and teachings rooted in ancient Chinese culture.
"Falun Gong is not a religion," said Margaret Jiang of Ames, an Iowa State University graduate student who began exploring Falun Gong in early 1999. "There is no membership. People may practice it alone or in groups and they are free to come and go. Everything is free, including the instruction which is taught by volunteers."
To counter the ongoing repression in China, Falun Gong practitioners are active in spreading the word about human rights abuse that has been heaped on followers since the practice was outlawed in 1999, according to news reports.
Some of the most colorful demonstrations at the Democratic National Convention in Boston this week were held by Falun Gong practitioners.
Adherents of Falun Gong held a massive procession involving hundreds of yellow-shirted practitioners and demonstrated their meditation techniques in Copley Square to call attention to the five-year repression by the Chinese government against Falun Gong in the country of its origin.
"It is very dangerous to be a Falun Gong practitioner today in China," Jiang said.
The basic moral principles of Falun Gong are truth, compassion, forbearance and tolerance1. By focusing on these virtues, practitioners expand their spiritual growth and enlightenment.
Accepting that they cannot influence their environment at work, at home, in marriage or other relationships, they strive to improve themselves.
"Your behavior can change your environment," said Lucia Liang, 41, of Ames, a post-doctoral student at Iowa State studying molecular biology.
Falun Gong's distinctive exercise and meditation methods can clear the mind and improve health, proponents believe. Five sets of exercises enhance the circulation of energy in the body, Liang said. The final exercise, a sitting meditation, helps create a tranquil mind while "strengthening the divine powers" of the individual.
Barb Egemo, 70, an Ames Lutheran, discovered Falun Gong three years ago when she stumbled upon a workshop at the Ames Public Library.
"I just love the exercises," Egemo said. "I just feel marvelous after doing them. I miss them during the week."
Based on the ancient spiritual traditions of Buddhism and Taoism, Falun Gong was introduced in China in 1992 by Li Hongzhi. The practice became wildly popular under Chinese government supervision.
During the seven-year period, Li Hongzhi was honored by the government for promoting something that was then considered a wholesome practice. At its peak, it is estimated that tens of millions of Chinese, including thousands of government officials, practiced Falun Gong.
However, in July 1999 the government banned the practice and Falun Gong adherents have been persecuted since. Most observers believe the crackdown was due more to Falun Gong's potential to challenge the Chinese Communist Party than for its ideology2.
Because of the repression in their homeland, Jiang and Liang may never be able to return to China. Liang has applied for political asylum on the grounds that as a Falun Gong practitioner, her life would be in jeopardy if she returned home. She has gone through the required FBI background check but does not yet know the outcome of her request.
The practice of Falun Gong worldwide has continued to grow. Li Hongzhi left China in 19983 and now lives in Brooklyn, N.Y. Groups may be found in all metropolitan areas of the United States and 60 other countries.
Jiang believes there may be four dozen Falun Gong practitioners in Iowa, but it is difficult to estimate. She has introduced at least that many people to the exercises and meditation technique in workshops across the state. Because there is no central meeting place for practitioners, the techniques may be practiced alone and anyone can teach others about the practice, there may be many more adherents.
Her sister, Julia Jiang of Minneapolis and an Iowa State graduate, was the first Falun Gong practitioner in Iowa. She introduced the practice to the state when she came to Ames in 1997.
Jiang and Liang treasure the acceptance and freedoms they have found in the United States, something they hope will one day be realized in China.
"In 2002 and 2003, Governor Vilsack issued a proclamation for the celebration of Falun Dafa Week in the state of Iowa," Jiang said. "In 2002, we held activities in front of the Capitol building. We were deeply honored."

I knew that it was the evil forces causing trouble, and I started sending righteous thoughts. A few minutes later, a fellow practitioner came to my house, told me that another practitioner was in a very dangerous condition, and asked me to send forth righteous thoughts for him. I refused without thinking, because I was sending forth righteous thoughts to save myself. At first, I did not think I was wrong. A couple of minutes later, I realized how selfish it was that I didn't want to save others when they were in danger. My selfishness was thoroughly exposed.
The destination of our cultivation path is to become selfless, always consider others first, and thus reach consummation with righteous enlightenment. This time a fellow practitioner was having trouble at the same time as me. However, my situation was a lot of easier than his. He needed my help but I refused. At the critical point, the first thing I thought about was my self.
I have been cultivating for five years. How have I been doing? This test showed my problem. If I continue to be like that, can I be responsible for the positive elements in the universe in the future? Two minutes later, the practitioner who had come to ask for my help left and I realized I was wrong. Since I did not know who he was and where he lived, I missed the opportunity. Two days later, I found out that the practitioner in tribulation was a 70 year old military doctor who had skin ulcer on his back, which could have threatened his life. I could imagine how big that tribulation was. Then I joined two fellow practitioners to send forth righteous thoughts for him, three times in the morning and twice in the evening, each time for a half hour. In between sending forth righteous thoughts, we exchanged our understandings with him. He said that due to his profession, whenever he felt uncomfortable, he would think he was sick.
Eventually the elderly practitioner was sent to the hospital, and came out a month later. He told us that he had been sending forth righteous thoughts in the hospital as long as he had a clear mind. At the time when he had not felt so clear minded, he thought, "It is no good. I am going to die." Then he immediately thought, "I can't die. If I died, what would happen to the beings in my universe?" At the key point, he thought of the beings of his universe. That showed his righteous thoughts of thinking about others before oneself. Teacher could see everything and save him from the brink of death.
Since the fellow practitioner was admitted to the hospital, my heart felt very heavy and I felt sorry for him. It was we who did not do well, especially in the beginning when I refused to send forth righteous thoughts for him. I did not pay enough attention until I went to see him and saw his severe condition.
Through this incident, I learned a lesson. I did not have enough righteous thoughts facing the great tribulation of my fellow practitioner. I did not play the good role that I should play. From the Minghui Weekly Journal, I read many stories that when a practitioner encountered the tribulation of illness, there were always several fellow practitioners sending forth righteous thoughts for hours, sometimes even over ten hours. Teacher said that everything we do here is actually a big battle in other dimensions between the righteous and the evil. Our fellow practitioner must have been surrounded by layers of evil, demons and dark minions. We should send forth righteous thoughts to eliminate those evil demons and rescue our fellow practitioners. Now I understood this and here I am bringing it up.
Through this incident, I understood many things. "Selfishness" is the root of all our bad notions and attachments. I also realized that I was still constrained by the standards of the old universe. Thinking back, I did not pass many tribulations because I did not face them from the Fa's perspective. Thus those tribulations often became more severe. We should get up once we fall, but we should not always fall. We should not let ourselves fall at all. At this last period of validating Fa and saving people, I should walk every step with a clear mind on the cultivation journey arranged by Teacher, and truly become selfless, considering others before myself. I should meet Teacher's requirements and complete my duty of being "in control of Heaven and Earth, rectifying the human realm" (The Foretelling).
(Clearwisdom.net) In some areas of Hebei Province, some practitioners have recently enthusiastically helped other practitioners to buy MP3 players and PDA's (personal digital assistants). Their prices range from 300 yuan (1) to 500 yuan. Some practitioners even bought e-books (electronic books, like the size of an actual book, with LCD display, cost about 1,700 yuan). The e-book is really nice-looking, and can store all of the Dafa books. Some practitioners from the rural areas have also purchased MP3 players. In addition, some of them are searching for cheaper MP3 players with more storage.
However, I feel that these practitioners have put too much emphasis on these luxury tools, similar to the analogy of the "gold begging bowl" vs. "jade begging bowl." (An old story from Buddhism: Buddha Sakyamuni and his disciples begged for their food. Some disciples became attached to their begging bowls, since they were the only possessions they were allowed. Some managed to obtain gold begging bowls, and some others got jade ones. Sakyamuni then told his disciples not to be attached to their begging bowls.)
Indeed, some practitioners don't have a collection of all Dafa books. Instead, we have hand-copied books in the past. In this way, we study Fa through hand copying and have also helped with the issue of book shortages. Listening to Teacher's lectures using audio tape players (which only cost about 20 yuan) is also very easy. It is great to be able to use those good tools to study Fa, yet we should also consider our financial situation and how much we really need them. We should not spend too much of our time and energy on this issue.
I heard that some practitioners outside China are very attached to computer and electronic tools, including PDA's. Later on, they put their attention and money toward owning pocket PCs. Using the excuse that these tools facilitate Fa study and practicing the exercises, they spent a lot of time playing with the new functions and transforming file formats on the fancy computer tools. As a result, they have less time for the actual Fa study and practicing the exercises.
In "Teaching the Fa at the 2004 Chicago Conference," Teacher said,
"As Dafa disciples have clarified the facts you have saved many beings who were supposed to be saved, but it's not enough. In fact, so far, what you've accomplished is still limited, and in terms of numbers the proportion is still quite small. The Dafa disciples in Mainland China, in particular, have the greatest responsibility. The main body of Dafa disciples is in China, so the Dafa disciples there should do even better; through lessons learned they should become more rational and more clearheaded, and do things more righteously; they should allow more sentient beings to be saved; and they should have the effect of the main body of Dafa disciples. "
I think we should spend more of our money on making truth-clarifying materials and on other ways of clarifying the truth. Of course, clarifying the truth does not necessarily mean spending a lot of money. I think we should put more of our mind and heart on improving our methods to clarify the truth so that more sentient beings can be saved.

On the night of June 23, 2004, while browsing the Minghui website, I suddenly was confronted with the news that Wang Jinzhong was arrested at work by local policemen. He suffered various types of tortures at a detention center. As a result, he died on June 14, 2004. That familiar form materialized in my mind, everything around was all frozen, and only my right hand mechanically opened, closed, opened and closed the homepage. I hoped deeply within me that the person was not my friend whom I knew so well.
Mr. Wang Jinzhong, was a 48-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner, resident of Heping District, Shenyang City. On May 20, 2004, he was arrested at his workplace at Zhongshan Park by officers from the Xingshun Police Station, a substation of the Tiexi Branch Police Department in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. After torturing him, the police sent him to Tiexi Detention Center. On the afternoon of June 14, he was tortured to death. Afterwards, the police took his dead body to a hospital. The doctors confirmed that he had died before being taken to the hospital.
Closing my tearful eyes, my memory slowly remembered Uncle Wang's upright and simple smiling face. This took me back to my childhood.
Uncle Wang's wife, Auntie Gu was my mother's colleague (Note: In China, it is common to refer to friends and respected elders as "Auntie" or "Uncle" even though no family relationship exists). They were close like sisters. Our homes was only a short distance apart, less than 200 meters. I didn't feel much difference between "his home" and "my home." Eating and sleeping at Uncle Wang's home was my most successful method to avoid being disciplined by my parents. At that time, it seemed to me that Aunt Gu's gentleness was a formidable contrast to my mother's treatment of me, which I viewed as being illogical and impolite. My most treasured childhood memory is that of myself howling under the street lamps, totally unwilling to return home with Uncle Wang. Sometimes, mother scolded him for doting on me too much. Uncle Wang always patted my head, while smiling unpretentiously. I especially liked to be around tall and strong Uncle Wang and listen to his deep and gruff voice, talking with a guileless smile.
Their daughter Wang Qian studied singing at the Music Middle School, and several conservatories wanted her to enroll. This was a happy family. I remember the simple and hard-working husband and father, a beautiful and gentle wife and a talented and intelligent daughter. The entire family enjoyed each other's company.
In 1995, uncle Wang's family began to practice Falun Gong. Not long after that, my mother began to practice it. At the same time I saw my mother's health improve greatly. I was also amazed by every little change I noticed in Uncle Wang. Once, when we were invited for dinner at his home, I found uncle was helping auntie to cut the meat. He actually had not done any such work before. During the splendid evening banquet, there was for the first time that I can remember no Fen liquor. This was generally served with every meal. Wang Qian told me quietly that her father had given away all his cigarettes and alcohol bottles after he began to practice Falun Gong. There was a big broom near the front door. The Wang' family voluntarily cleaned all the stairs of the entire building with this broom. Their family circumstances were good, but their lives became simple after they began to practice Falun Gong. They used their spare money to help others, help society and promote Falun Gong. When there was a conflict between the neighbors, they would ask everyone to look at their own shortcomings, and to be more considerate of others. The sincerity and kindness of Uncle Wang's family affected many neighbors. Because of the Wang's family, the residents in the entire building became modest and began to care for each other. Every morning, my mother, Uncle Wang's family and nearby Falun Gong practitioners practiced the exercises in the small park next to my home, while my father, I and some friends played ball or did some other sports activity nearby. T'his period was truly the most precious for me.
Right became wrong and wrong became right after July 20, 1999. As lies spread everywhere and the crackdown began, Uncle Wang and Auntie Gu appealed for Falun Gong many times and explained the truth to the government departments. However, they were unlawfully detained and fined. Later his entire family was monitored, the phone was tapped, and they were even restricted from leaving their home during sensitive periods. They had no choice, but sent their daughter, who had just enrolled in high school, to the grandmother's home, so she would avoid the persecution. In early 2001, the local policemen arrested Uncle Wang for telling people the truth of Falun Gong. He was secretly sentenced to one-year in forced labor camp without any legal procedure and detained in Shenyang Zhangshi Forced Labor Camp. During the detention, he was cruelly tortured with the electric baton. The local police would also have arrested Auntie Gu if she hadn't left home. She became homeless for two years to avoid being arrested. After Uncle Wang was released, I met him once on the street. I saw many scars, caused by the electric shock on his arms and face. During the following four years before I left China, starting in July of 1999, I never visited his home again because of all the pressure, although my home was only 200 meters away from his home. I sporadically learned news of Uncle Wang from my mother. Seeing the persecution my mother suffered (many times arrested, tortured and our home searched), it was not difficult to imagine the situation of the Wang' family. After Uncle Wang was released, his workplace leader changed his job to cleaning toilets. Uncle Wang did not complain, because he always believed that people would learn the truth some day.
In 2003, once Uncle Wang heard that I was going to emigrate to Canada, he sent me a precious gift. One day before I left, he called me. He said he could not personally see me off, because he was still under surveillance. He hoped that I would not forget to be a person that always thinks for others no matter where I lived. He said that a kind person is happy forever.
After I lived in Canada for one year, I realized that Jiang's regime spread lies about Falun Gong. Now, I began to get to know Falun Gong all over again. I finally began to practice Falun Gong. I told Uncle Wang about all the changes within me. He happily replied, "Your auntie, I and your mother were certain that you would practice Falun Gong too. The best opportunity of your life is your ability to practice Falun Gong. It is also your greatest fortune." He also said to me that it was not by accident that I could emigrate to Canada and learn Falun Gong. "You are undertaking a great mission. You must tell everyone around you who does not know the truth about the persecution your family is suffering in China. You must rescue your mother (my mother was illegally sentenced to 8 years in prison by the Chinese authorities because she practices Falun Gong)."
I listened to every word he said and held tears in my eyes. I felt Uncle Wang was standing before me, kindly patting my head and I could feel his love and caring. These words, said quickly so far away, became my last memory of Uncle Wang.
After I calmed down, I called his home. Auntie Gu answered, with a voice filled with sorrow and anger. We were silent for a long time, I could not think of words to comfort her, but remembered what Uncle Wang told me in the end: You are undertaking a great mission.......... Tell everyone around you about the persecution!
I then called Uncle Wang's workplace, the local police station and detention center, everyone that participated in persecuting him. As I inquired into the entire matter, the local police station and detention center personnel didn't respond clearly, froze up, unreasonably snapped, and even viciously threatened me. Uncle Wang's workplace leader even outrageously lied, claiming that Wang had committed suicide, because Falun Gong led him to insanity. They also allowed none of the employees to visit Wang's family. As a matter of fact, many among the staff and friends knew that uncle Wang was tortured to death by the police. They said, "Such a good person!" "What else can you do?" I could clearly hear their regrets over the phone. I sensed their feeling of hopelessness and disappointment in Chinese society. Most of the neighbors were threatened and lied to by the local community office and police station staff.
I put down the phone, because I could barely express my grief. A person believing in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" was persecuted to death. What is more distressing is that the continuous lies are swallowing everyone's conscience. Uncle Wang's family members not only endured the pain of losing a family member, but also have to suffer from unfair slander. In this persecution that directly targets each person's conscience. Aren't' people's silence and ignorance sins against society? History will record everything. However, how would everyone position himself or herself in this time of history?
Looking at the starry sky, I can't distinguish which one belongs to Uncle Wang! Another good person tortured to death! I must tell the truth to everyone around me! I must tell those of my Chinese fellowmen who are still poisoned by Jiang's lies, that my uncle was persecuted to death for being a good person. I must tell that my mother was sentenced to 8 years for following "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" and injected with nerve damaging drugs. Yet, my family and Uncle Wang's family is only a drop in the bucket. Millions of families are suffering because of the persecution in China. Among nearly 100 million Falun Gong practitioners in China, how many kind-hearted people experience the loss of loved ones? How many families are destroyed during this wicked catastrophe!
I sincerely wish to comfort Uncle Wang's soul in heaven with this article. I want to comfort Auntie Gu and Wang Qian for losing a family member. Perhaps tears may wash away the pain of losing a family member, but they can't wash away the many memories of a family member we hold deep in our heart.
(Clearwisdom.net) In 2002, a friend came to see me and told about his intention to use the name of Falun Gong to apply for political asylum in the U.S.A. He heard that it would be very easy to do it with a ticket receipt of a train or airline trip to Beijing on April 25, 1999, or with some sort of evidence that he was detained inside China. At that time I tactfully told him that it was not appropriate to use Falun Gong for this purpose. I held this same notion until I saw "Teaching the Fa at the Meeting with Asia-Pacific Students." There, Teacher said,
"Anyway, once somebody applies for asylum in the name of Falun Gong, he has given his future to Falun Gong. That's because he is changing his fate using Falun Gong's name--whether he's aware of it or not. That's putting it in ordinary human terms. The truth is, everyone came here for Dafa, and if the whole world came for Dafa, then of course it's no big deal if they benefit a little from Dafa. So go ahead, then. (Teacher laughs) As long as the local government doesn't object, we won't either.."
Then I recognized that, in today's Fa-rectification period, a person's attitude toward Dafa will decide his or her own future. To remain and not to be sifted out is most crucial to a life and that is also the purpose of our clarifying the truth as Dafa practitioners. We cannot deny that people have bad, warped thoughts. No matter what people encounter, they first try to protect themselves and then to seek personal gains. To those applying for asylum in the name of Falun Gong, they may not really understand Falun Gong or because of the deceit and lies may even be biased against Falun Gong, but when they tell the immigrant officer about the persecution of Falun Gong, then they are not against Falun Gong and so Teacher will protect them. I am deeply touched by the Master's benevolence and Dafa's immense magnificence!
Currently inside China there is still a high percentage of people whose minds are poisoned and so our mission to save sentient beings is critical. In our course of clarifying the truth, sometimes we just hurry by someone without a chance to say more. Sometimes we can only tell people one thing: Remember that Falun Dafa is good. At times like these, something small like a postcard or bookmark would be a nice gift to people. From our experience, people usually like to receive them. Some may not dare to take Falun Gong truth materials but will certainly like postcards, bookmarks or similar things. Especially in small villages, many people welcome these kind of things and, if they did not receive one, they would go to a practitioner's house to ask for one.
Practitioners should develop more wisdom. We should use all methods and different angles to clarify the truth to various types of people. We must do well what we should and try our best to save more people.
(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 1999, the day the persecution of Falun Gong officially began, I was vacationing out of town with my husband. That night when I saw the propaganda on TV attacking Dafa, I was totally confused. My husband, who does not practice, started to complain about me practicing. Even though I told my husband firmly that what's on TV is all lies, I still had doubts deep in my heart. So I opened Essentials for Further Advancement, hoping to receive some hints from Teacher. When I read the article "Huge Exposure," I suddenly understood something. Teacher told us,
"Dafa is of the universe and penetrates all the way down to human society. When a Fa of this magnitude is taught, how could anything be outside the arrangement? Isn't what has happened a test for Dafa disciples' xinxing?"
The next day my husband and I went to visit a friend of ours. This friend is a journalist. We've known each other for nearly 8 years. After dinner, we sat together and chatted. Our conversation naturally focused on the continuous attack on Falun Gong. My friend felt disgusted by the propaganda, thinking it's another "Cultural Revolution." However, he wasn't clear about what Falun Gong is really about.
I then told him that I am a Falun Gong practitioner. He was a bit stunned and asked me what Falun Gong is all about. I explained how I began cultivation and what benefits I've gained from the practice. I also shared my thoughts about the persecution and advised him not to listen to the media propaganda. While I was talking, I saw clearly that the walls of my friend's living room were covered in gentle yellow light. Even his head was covered in yellow light rings. I myself on the other hand felt very hot. I knew Teacher was encouraging me and I was very grateful. To my surprise, I talked for a long time that day and was able to express myself very clearly. In the end, my friend told me that he knew the tricks the government used to persecute people and he did not believe those lies at all. He said he'd like to read some Falun Gong books, and I then left my copy of Zhuan Falun for him.
After I came back from vacation, I didn't contact him for a long time due to some personal reasons. He was very upset, thinking I might have gotten into some trouble. So he asked his friends to try to locate me. I told him that I was fine.
One day two years later he suddenly suffered a stroke. To his surprise, he was discharged from the hospital only two months later. Three months after he returned home, he was completely fine. He called me telling me he felt he was very lucky because his friends who suffered the same symptoms had already died. I knew he was very lucky because he once planted the seed of kindness in his heart and now he received blessings.
As for myself, I gradually walked into the path of Fa-rectification with encouragements from Teacher.

(Clearwisdom.net) Clearwisdom.net has published many stories describing how people were rewarded with good fortune after practitioners told them to repeat, "Falun Dafa is good". My purpose in writing this article is to share my thoughts about an article posted on Clearwisdom regarding a practitioner who worried about clarifying the truth in this way. There are four aspects I want to discuss:
1. A New Means of Clarifying the Truth: One Can Be Rewarded With Good Fortune By Repeating "Falun Dafa Is Good"
Teacher said:
"Even when an ordinary person shouts out ¡®Falun Dafa is good' today, Master will protect him."
(Teaching and Explaining the Fa at the Metropolitan New York Fa Conference)
There is also a broad connotation behind Teacher's words. Not only can illnesses and conditions be miraculously cured, but it has an incredible effect in validating Dafa and saving many beings. I think it is a new aspect of clarifying the truth and validating Dafa in the Fa-rectification period. Dafa practitioners should rid themselves of all attachments, and use this opportunity to harmonize Teacher's choice, validate Dafa and save more beings.
Example 1: A miracle in a sea of fire.
A large fire occurred in Xianghuangshan Village, Yongan Township, Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province, on May 18, 2004. More than ten houses caught fire. An older woman was very anxious when she saw her house was in this sea of fire. She then recalled a story from a Falun Gong flyer that had earlier been placed under the door of her house. It explained how a ship suddenly encountered a grade 12 typhoon and was on the verge of sinking. The captain asked everyone to prepare to abandon the ship. At that time, one of the crew shouted with great sincerity: "Falun Dafa is good!" His shout was totally unexpected and the wind gradually stopped thereafter. After she remembered this, she knelt down on the ground and shouted: "Falun Dafa is good!" Later on, all of her family joined her. After the firefighters put out the fire, everyone could see that her neighbors' houses were all burned down, but her house did not have any fire damage, except that the woodpile and fence were burned. All the people in the village said it was a miracle and together expressed that Falun Dafa is good. (This event was originally published in the 185th issue of the "Heaven, Earth and All Beings" magazine [a Chinese-language publication] on June 10, 2004)
Example 2: Restoring the dying to life.
A month ago, my wife and I traveled over one hundred miles to my hometown to clarify the truth. We went to my uncle's home. His daughter-in-law was suffering from lung and heart disease and was dying. They had already made arrangements for her funeral. We clarified the truth to her and also told her the stories of patients suffering from serious diseases that rose up from their deathbeds after repeating, "Falun Dafa is good." At that time, she opened her eyes and said: "I believe what you have said. Can Dafa save me?" We told her: "Teacher is merciful to all beings. Teacher once said: ¡®Even when an ordinary person shouts out ¡®Falun Dafa is good' today, Master will protect him'." The patient said: "I believe, I believe!" I wrote "Falun Dafa is good!" on two slips of paper and pasted them on the two walls to assist her. Just before we left, the patient's daughter-in-law asked us to give her a copy of Zhuan Falun so she could read it to her. A week later, the patient was able to sit up and read Zhuan Falun on her own. Two weeks later, she was able to walk and half a month later, she was fully recovered when I went to see her. Her experience created a great stir in the village. Her family worried that the government would persecute her and cause trouble for the entire family. The patient (i.e. my sister-in-law) said: "I don't fear them. I was a dead person, but I have come back to life. I will speak the truth." There are many other miraculous experiences recorded. All of the beneficiaries of these miraculous events walk the path of obtaining the Fa and cultivate sooner or later. Some people were deceived by the lies before these events, but later came to respect Dafa and agree that Falun Dafa is good.
Teacher said in the Fa-Lecture During the 2003 Lantern Festival at the U.S. West Fa Conference:
"At even higher levels the concept of wanting to achieve something doesn't exist, either. It's just a matter of the cosmos's choice. Everything I've been doing during the Fa-rectification and everything I want, to spell it out, are the choice of the future cosmos and the needs of the future cosmos."
Teacher also said he would protect people who repeated, "Falun Dafa is good." I realize that this is just another choice that Teacher makes. Choice is just a celestial phenomena. Our Dafa practitioners would harmonize it according to Teacher's choice. It is also a part of validating Dafa to collect, sort out and distribute the miraculous experiences of people who were rewarded with good fortune after they repeated ¡®Falun Dafa is good'.
2. At First Said Insincerely, Later Spoken From the Heart
I worried whether those people really had sincere hearts when they recited the words to save themselves from the pains of their illness. This is similar to the situation at the beginning of our own cultivation. Teacher said:
"At that time when many students said ¡®Dafa is good', they were not sincere."(Teaching the Fa on Easter, 2004, at the New York Fa Conference)
Teacher allowed us
"a period of time to understand the Fa, so some people come with various intentions" (A Dialogue with Time).
Through cultivation, most of us gave up our original intentions very quickly. Practitioners give up all their personal belongings to go to Tiananmen Square, talk to people and go everywhere in the world to validate that Falun Dafa is good. We also went through a period before we realized the universal principle of "Falun Dafa is good." Currently, ordinary people may be insincere when they repeat, "Falun Dafa is good" in a drowning accident or in suffering the pain of illness. However, they are sincere when they repeat, "Falun Dafa is good!" after they receive protection or relief from their situation. I think it is noteworthy that these people at least think of Falun Dafa, when in peril. It is because everything originates from Dafa. For example, the patient in the second example above said: "I don't fear them. I was a dead person, but I have come back to life. I will speak the truth." At first when she said, "Falun Dafa is good," she may not have truly felt it from her heart, being somewhat insincere. But later, she repeated it with true sincerity. I personally think that it is not necessary to worry whether people are sincere or not, as long as we explain the basic points correctly and do things according to a practitioner's criteria.
3. This is Saving Sentient Beings, Not Healing Illness
A fellow practitioner asked after reading the article mentioned above, "Could practitioners clarifying the truth in such a way be exhibiting the intention of healing others' illnesses?" He thought this was against the principles of Dafa. This point of view should also be discussed.
First of all, we should clearly understand that Teacher said He would protect people who repeat, "Falun Dafa is good!" Dafa disciples only play the role of validating Dafa and clarifying the truth. Also, not only sick people are rewarded with good fortune, but others who sincerely say "Dafa is good" benefit as well. This is the mighty virtue of Dafa, Teacher's mercy. People who receive good rewards will tell their family members, as well as friends "Falun Dafa is good." With our kind hearts, we tell people that they will be rewarded if they say, "Falun Dafa is good," which is validating Dafa and saving all sentient beings. We don't do it with the intent of healing illness, so I understand that it is not against Dafa's principles. The precondition is whether we do things with pure hearts. This is very important, because there are still some things inside that we need to cultivate.
4. Letting Go Of All Worries And Receiving The Arrival Of The Wonderful Moment Of Fa-Rectification In The Human World
The practitioner writing the article mentioned above had another concern: "I'm really afraid of letting down the expectations carried by these words." Isn't this an attachment? Teacher said:
"Get rid of any attachment you have, and don't think about anything. Just do everything a Dafa disciple should do and everything will be covered."

My fellow practitioner, any human attachment will interfere with us in completing the significant task we shoulder. Let it go. As long as it is favorable to validate Dafa and save all beings, we should do it.
When clarifying the truth, we tell each person we meet "Falun Dafa is good." With compassion, wisdom and a clear mind, we take up the important task that Teacher endows us with, the arrival of the wonderful moment in which Fa- rectification arrives in the human world. Teacher said:
"In validating the Fa, you are the ones who've come up with many of the ideas ... and Dafa disciples the world over are thinking about their shared tasks. You're all cooperating together, discussing, debating and analyzing things with each other to come up with the best approaches."

(Clearwisdom.net) On July 20, 2004, Belgian practitioners gathered at the Chinese Embassy in Brussels to protest against the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners conducted by the Jiang group, and to commemorate the practitioners who have died as a result of the persecution. A declaration was read out, pointing out that we had been confronting the persecution peacefully and rationally. However, to exterminate the belief in Truthfulness, Compassion and Tolerance, Jiang Zemin has employed a lot of China's resources to run state terrorism against Falun Gong practitioners, their families and friends. The inhuman brainwashing, torture, brutal ill-treatment, killing and hate-inciting propaganda, together aggregated the worst evil since the dawn of history. The Jiang group also attempted to export its terrorist behavior overseas, for example, the shooting incident targeting Falun Gong practitioners in South Africa recently and its extension of the persecution abroad in the form of cultural activities.

No country or nation can ignore this campaign of genocide. More and more people have come out to condemn the persecution. Many countries in the world, including Belgium, have initiated judicial action to bring the prime culprits to court.
Practitioners sent forth righteous thoughts frequently and demonstrated the exercises. Though it was raining no one was perturbed. Watching our activities, passers-by learned about Falun Gong and encouraged us. In conversation with some on-duty policemen, they told us they were grateful for the wonderfulness brought about by Falun Gong practitioners' compassion.
In the afternoon, practitioners handed out leaflets to more people in Brussels city centre. We met several people whose minds were poisoned by the evil propaganda but they all changed their minds after listening to practitioners' explanations.
A gentleman who came from Taiwan for a holiday happily talked to the practitioners. He also practiced the exercises from time to time. At first he was worried that the Chinese people would be cross when talking about Falun Gong to them. Practitioners told him that it was very likely as they had been deceived by the propaganda. But they had the right to know the truth about what was happening in China and it was important for them to know the truth. The gentleman agreed and he also encouraged us to do better.

French people revealed their shock and anger, signing their names against the persecution of Falun Gong.

(Clearwisdom.net) Since July 1999, Falun Gong practitioners have been cruelly persecuted in China and those who practice have bee tortured. However, the Chinese Government does not realize that today, after five years, Falun Gong has spread to every corner of the world, including our city Pjatigorsk in Russia.
In order to allow more people to understand the truth of this persecution and awaken the kindness in their hearts, Falun Gong practitioners from Pjatigorsk held activities to raise awareness in the park near the city centre on July 22 and July 24.
The pictures displayed included photos of how Falun Gong has spread worldwide and how Falun Gong practitioners are being cruelly persecuted in China, making a vivid contrast. Some practitioners performed the exercises in front of the display boards attracting many local residents and tourists. They asked for Falun Gong leaflets in droves. Ten Falun Gong practitioners and some young practitioners hand-made paper lotus flowers symbolizing holiness, purity and peace, and distributed them to the tourists.

Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong, on July 20, Falun Gong practitioners
in Cambridge organized a week-long anti-torture poster exhibition entitled
"Persecution Meets Principle" in a local library. On the Friday
evening, practitioners held a candlelight vigil in the city centre to
commemorate Falun Gong practitioners who lost their lives in the Jiang regime's
persecution. They also organized a petition activity to "Bring Jiang to
Justice" in front of the local government building on Saturday. Many people
learned the facts about Falun Gong and the brutal persecution of Falun Gong by
the Jiang regime through this week-long activity.

The public library in Cambridge attracts many people every day. People who visited the anti-torture exhibition were all shocked and could not believe that in today's world there is still a government carrying out such brutal torture. Streams of people came to sign our petition. During the Friday evening's candlelight vigil, even before we set up our stand, a black lady came to sign our petition. She told us that she read our leaflet before and was always thinking of signing our petition to show her support and she got the chance today.
When we were practicing meditation in the candlelight, many passers-by were moved by the tranquil and solemn atmosphere and stopped to take a look or even take some pictures. When our activity was about to finish, a gentleman from the Middle East had a long talk with a practitioner from Iran and immediately expressed his wish to read Zhuan Falun [the main text of Falun Gong]. During Saturday's "Bring Jiang to Justice" petition activity, over forty Chinese students who came to Cambridge for the summer English course carefully read our poster displays. Falun Gong practitioners explained to them in great detail about the facts of Falun Gong.

The NTB news agency in Norway published a report headlined "Falun Gong is Subjected to these Tortures in China" and subtitled "Electric Shocks, Burning with Irons and Forced Drug Abuse are Tortures Employed by the Chinese Regime." The article mentioned that this was the fifth anniversary of the Chinese Government's persecution of Falun Gong and that Falun Gong is a practice of meditative exercises with approximately 100 million practitioners, who held commemorative activities in many places around the world including Norway.
Norwegian Falun Gong spokesman Peder Giertsen told the reporter that in China Falun Gong practitioners are subjected to over 100 kinds of tortures and Norwegian practitioners only showed a small portion of them. He estimated thousands of Falun Gong practitioners had been tortured to death in prisons and labor camps in China. Prison guards are creating new torture methods unceasingly as they are rewarded for doing that. In fact, these prison guards are also victims, who have been instilled with hatred by the Jiang group. The Norwegian Falun Gong spokesman pointed out, "Pressure from the international community can help China to stop the persecution. Falun Gong has won support from many MPs in the Norwegian parliament and people in Norway are also starting to accept Falun Gong."
The article also mentioned that Amnesty International expressed concern about the worsening of the persecution against Falun Gong since 1999. Officers responsible for information at the Norwegian branch pointed out, "Falun Gong practitioners are put into prisons without trial, and sent to brainwashing classes and mental hospitals. Many of them have been subjected to torture and women have been sexually abused."

(Clearwisdom.net) In conjunction with anti-torture exhibits held by Dafa practitioners around the world, and learning from experiences in holding anti-torture exhibits in Taizhong and Taipei, practitioners in Tainan decided to hold a press conference entitled, "Condemn Jiang's Group's Hiring Gunmen to Kill People Overseas," and a live mock torture exhibit and exercise demonstration on August 1, 2004 in Hsiaodong Park.
During the press conference, practitioners performed a mock trial bringing Jiang Zemin to justice to explain the process of an Australian Falun Gong practitioner being shot in South Africa and analyze some doubtful points of the shooting incident. Many people surrounded and watched. Several councilors and secretaries also attended and condemned Jiang's Group's atrocities and offered their support for human rights.

Legislator Qianlin Hui-jun viewed the live torture-exhibit and expressed that it is inconceivable that Jiang's Group's persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has reached such an incredible extent. Councilor Wang Jia-zhen also expressed that "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance" have profound influence over the upgrading of people's morality. Facing Jiang's Group extending the persecution outside of China, she called upon people to show concern over human rights and uphold justice.
At the end of the press conference Tainan City Mayor Tain-Tsair Hsu came in person and gave a brief speech. He said, "Taiwan's human rights have experienced a period of gloomy time. Through people's efforts, Taiwan has had freedom, democracy and human rights. We should continue extending our concern over human rights to every corner, certainly including Falun Gong. I wish you a great success."

A young student who studies at Guandu Christian College said, "It's too horrifying, how can they be so cruel?" She said, "I once heard about the persecution of Falun Gong, but has never expected that it is so severe." Practitioners who acted as prison guards expressed that though having been done with make-up, seeing practitioners who reenacted being tortured to the point of being deformed, they could not bear witnessing it. How could the prison guards be so cruel and emotionless as to torture practitioners so ruthlessly?
Practitioners who explained the facts about Falun Gong on the spot expressed that they had only one thought in minds, hoping the predestined people to learn about the truth, oppose the persecution and support Falun Dafa.
During the entire activity from 4:00 p.m. until a candlelight vigil in the evening, streams of people walked into this peaceful and benevolent field to learn about the truth. Though there appeared some interference, practitioners could remain righteous thoughts, the effect of truth clarification turned out to be good. Practitioners also found out their shortcomings and improved themselves.

1. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Practitioner Xu Jing is Mentally Traumatized in Hefei City Women's Forced Labor Camp
Dangshan County's "610 Office (1)" personnel put practitioner Ms. Xu Jing into Hefei City's Female Forced Labor Camp because of her determination to Falun Gong practice. The torture at the labor camp mentally traumatized her. Since being released into the care of her family, she speaks incoherently and her family won't let her out in public.
2. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] The Head of Farm No. 597 Has Put His Employee into a Brainwashing Class for a Year
Because practitioner Mr. Wu Dongsheng from Baoqing County, who works at Farm No. 597 in Heilongjiang Province, exposed the local lawless officials' crimes and the inhuman torture of practitioners on the Internet, the No. 597 Farm's Police Precinct officers arrested him and took him to a so-called "Education and Reformation Center" at the Qixing Farm at the Jiansanjiang Agriculture Administration Bureau. Sun Naisheng, head of Farm No. 597 bribed related officials and put Wu Dongsheng into the brainwashing center. Wu has been held there over a year.
Wu Dongsheng has been arrested several times and his home has been ransacked. He is currently being held at the Qixing Farm's Brainwashing Center. Officials in the center claimed that, "his release is being handled by officials at the No. 597 Farm." The Farm administration pays an accommodation fee of 20,000 Yuan (2) per year for Wu Dongsheng's detention. Practitioners sent to this brainwashing center from other farms have been released because the farms would not give the money to the brainwashing center. The employees' salaries are derived from the detention fees each farm pays. Officials from Farm No. 597 not only pay the fee, but also bribe officials. They are even afraid of the brainwashing center releasing Wu Dongsheng.

3. [Jurong City, Jiangsu Province] "610" Officials Arrest Practitioner Qu Beixiang When She is Mailing Letters
Recently, Jurong City's "610 Office" officials arrested practitioner Ms. Qu Beixiang when she went to mail letters in a post office. In order to protest the illegal arrest, Qu has been on a hunger strike for several days. Her husband requested her release at the police precinct, but she has not been released. Local "610 Office" officials have turned off their cell phones after arresting Qu for fear of public condemnation.

During the night of July 10, 2004, police used a master key to break into the house of practitioner Ms. Xiong Guiju and arrested her.
5. [Baoqing County, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioner Song Decai Arrested for Clarifying the Truth on a Train and Secretly Sentenced to Three Years of Forced Labor
Dafa practitioner Song Decai from Qixingpao Town clarified the truth of Falun Gong to people on a train. Later, personnel from Jiamusi City's Railway Police Station arrested him. On around February 25, 2004, he was sent to Baoqing County's No. 2 Jail. Personnel from Baoqing County's "610 Office," from the police stations' Political & Security Section and the jail secretly sentenced Song Decai to three years of forced labor at Suihua City's Forced Labor Camp without his family members being present at the sentencing.
6. [Zhangjiachuan County, Gansu Province] Release of Dafa Practitioners Li Jianrong and Xu Congliang
On June 22, 2004, after being extorted 5,000 Yuan as a "bail out" fee, practitioners Li Jianrong and Xu Congliang were released, but the perpetrators are still holding Xu Congliang's possessions, a computer and cell phone valued at nearly 10,000 Yuan.
Practitioner Zhang Run is still being held after the term had expired.
On September 5, 2003, practitioner Gao Cheng was released from the No.4 Division, Gansu Province's No.1 Forced Labor Camp and has gone back home to Shaanxi Province.
7. [An'ning City, Yunnan Province] Dafa Practitioner Guo Hongyun Arrested by Persons from the National Security Division
At around 6:00 p.m. on June 30, 2004, a number of plainclothes policemen arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Guo Hongyun from An'ning City's Phosphor Fertilizer Industrial Co. Ltd. while he was getting out of a car after visiting a relative. The policemen then ransacked the place. Their warrant was blank, without a cause written on it. They confiscated a computer, over ten copies of Dafa books and hard-covered notebooks. They didn't give the practitioner an itemized list of these confiscated items. At the same time they brought Guo Hongyun's wife, Wang Zhimei, to the police station by the so-called "summons to trial" means. They took turns interrogating Wang Zhimei until the next day and prohibited her from falling asleep. In the interrogation note it said that Wang Zhimei stated over and over that her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" is not wrong, and adhering to a belief system is a basic right endowed by the Constitution. She also pointed out that it is wrong and illegal for police to arrest people and ransack their homes and is a violation of human rights. In the end, the police could not justify their actions but had to tell Wang Zhimei's work unit to take her back.

Practitioner Ms. Cui Shuhua from Tonghua City, Jilin Province was arrested. Police were stalking around on the morning of July 9, 2004. Ms. Cui had distributed truth clarification materials, and for this she was sent to the city's Changliu Jail.
10. [Chongqing City] Arrest of Dafa Practitioner Lei Lichun at a Bus Station in the Nan'an District
Dafa practitioner Mr. Lie Lichun, 31 years old, is from the Sutai Community in Hucheng Township, the Guang'an District, Guang'an City, Sichuan Province. On June 19, 2004 he was arrested at Shangxin Street in the Nan'an District, Chongqing City. Lei's mother pleaded with the Guang'an District Police to release her son. Someone from the police department told her that Lie and his wife were arrested on a bus. Now Lei is being held in Huaying City's Jail in Guang'an City while his wife is held in the Guang'an District Jail in Guang'an City. Police also ransacked their rented house in Chongqing City. Some police officer told Lei's mother that in order to catch Lei, many policemen had to stake out every bus station in the Nan'an District for over a month. According to this, practitioner Song Jinyin from Guang'an City who suddenly disappeared in Nan'an District of Chongqing City ten days prior to Lei's arrest was supposed to have been arrested by the police. So far, Song's disappearance has not been confirmed.
The key reason for the arrest is that Lei and Song's cell phones were monitored. The practitioners, however, didn't pay attention to that.
11. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Arrest of Gao Yueli and Ma Fang
At around 1:00 a.m. on July 12, 2004, two policemen from the Shijingou Police Precinct in the Fengman District, Jilin City followed practitioner Ms. Gao Yueli. Dafa practitioner Ms. Gao is an employee of the Shijinggou Allied Chemical Factory of Fengman District. She had distributed Dafa truth clarifying materials. The two policemen then broke into Gao Yueli's home, arrested her and took her to the Shijinggou Police Precinct. The police had followed her for two nights when she distributed the truth clarifying materials. As Gao Yueli had been sentenced to one year of forced labor in the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp, her family led a hard life. Her 19-month-old daughter is left home without her mother's care.
Practitioner Ms. Ma Fang from the Shijinggou Allied Chemical Factory in the Fengman District was arrested too when she went to send Gao Yueli some food to the police precinct. The precinct policemen broke into Ma Fang's and her mother's homes and stole her Dafa books without producing any warrant. Officers from the police precinct have ransacked Dafa practitioner's homes and sent more than ten practitioners to a forced labor camp. Ni Jun, a supervisor, spared no effort to persecute practitioners.

On July 4, 2004, policemen from the Songshan District arrested Dafa practitioner Ms. Yu Xiulan from Jianchangying Village, Jianchangying Town, Yuanbaoshan District, Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and also Dafa practitioner Ms. Shao Guoying from Nanhuang Village, Jianchangying Town, Yuangbaoshan District, Chifeng City. Someone had reported them to police when the two practitioners went to Anqinggou Town in the Songshan District to distribute Dafa truth clarifying materials. Their whereabouts are unknown.
13. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Arrest of Practitioner Shi Xiuzhen and Ms. Lan When Distributing Truth Clarifying Information
Practitioners Ms. Shi Xiuzhen and Ms. Lan from the Sifang District, Qingdao City, were arrested by personnel from the Jiading Road Police Precinct in the Sifang District, Qingdao City on July 8, 2004 when they were distributing truth clarifying information. Afterwards policemen ransacked their homes. A policeman furiously called practitioners "anti-revolution" during the home search and threatened the family members not to tell others of the arrest and home search.
14. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Arrest of Zhao Xianchang from the Guanghan Third Middle School
Practitioner Ms. Zhao Xianchang, 34 years old, is an English teacher at the Guanghan Third Middle School in Guanghan City, Sichuan Province. Just because she persisted in her belief in "Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance," she was arrested on June 12, 2004. Perpetrators in the arrest are Jiang Tianxing from the National Security Division from Guanghan City's Police Department and Yang, the Security Section chief of Guanghan City's Education Administration Bureau. The arrest happened as she was taking a break in her dorm in the afternoon. Nobody knows where she is now.
Prior to the arrest, her parents' home was searched on April 25 and a stack of truth-clarifying materials, exposing local crimes in persecuting Falun Gong, were discovered. According to her mother, because these materials were found in Zhao Xianchang's bedroom, police started to follow her. Her dorm at school was opened when she was not there and her cell phone was confiscated for checking and then was returned because police didn't find any evidence. On June 20, Zhao Xianchang and her father went to the Education Administration Bureau to report these unlawful acts and illegal behavior of her school's leader and to clarify the truth to them. The Bureau leaders not only didn't listen, but they even called Jiang Tianxing from the city's National Security Bureau to arrest Zhao Xianchang at that moment. Her father argued with them, resulting in Zhao Xianchang and her father walking away. Unfortunately, she was arrested the following day.
According to a leader from the Guanghan Third Middle School, Zhao's teaching is excellent.
15. [Guanghan City, Sichuan Province] Yang Zhengming Is Detained at the City Jail for Clarifying the truth of Falun Gong
During the morning of June 28, 2004, Dafa practitioner Yang Zhengming from commune No.12 in Muqian Village, Xiwai Township, Guanghan City in Sichuan Province was arrested at Nanxing Town in Guanghan City when he was clarifying the truth of Falun Gong to the public. He is currently being detained at Guanghan City's Jail.
16. [Chongqing City] Lawless Policemen Break into House, Capture Dafa Practitioners Chen Ping and Zhang Guizhen and Take them to a Brainwashing Class
On July 8, 2004, more than 20 lawless officers from the Xinqiao Police Precinct in Shapingba District, Chongqing City, pried the door open and took Dafa practitioner Ms. Chen Ping, an employee of the Xinqiao No. 4 Standard Accessory Factory in Chongqing City ,and Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Guizhen to the Geleshan Brainwashing Class.
At 7:30 a.m. that day, policemen surrounded the door of Chen Ping and Zhang Guizhen's house. At 11: 30 a.m. they broke into the house and transported Chen Ping and Zhang Guizhen to the Geleshan Brainwashing Class.
17. [Chongqing City] The Persecution Dafa Practitioner Gan Shulin Suffers
Dafa practitioner Gan Shulin from Chongqing City began to practice Falun Gong in May 1999. In December 1999 he went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa the first time. Because of this he was illegally detained. In February 2000 he was released from jail but was immediately transferred to a brainwashing class. In June 2000, Gan Shulin went to Beijing to appeal for the second time and was then sent to a forced labor camp for two years. When he was detained at the Xishanping Jail in Chongqing City, his teeth were knocked out during brutal beatings. He was released in April 2002 but soon was put into a brainwashing class again. In 2004, because Gan Shulin refused to write the "three statements (3)," he was again sent into the Shapingba District Jingkou Brainwashing Center.
18. [Guangdong Province] Lies Are Infused in Such a Way
Recently I got to know a 16-year-old who had just graduated from middle school. We mentioned the truth of the Falun Gong persecution when we were chatting at noon. I asked him whether there was someone practicing Falun Gong in his hometown of Suixi City, Guangdong Province. He answered there were only a few. He was silent for a while and then he suddenly told me that people outside of China were also practicing Falun Gong. I asked how he knew this. He said, "Our teacher said ten thousand Falun Gong practitioners in the USA collectively committed suicide." I asked, "Do you believe it?" He replied, "Anyway, my school teacher said this."
When I heard that story I remembered my niece who is a primary school student. I told her once that Falun Dafa is great but she seriously said "no!" Her eyes were full of hate and horror. We can see from these two examples how Jiang's regime infuses children's minds with lies and we can see how evil the Jiang regime is.

1. [Dalian City, Liaoning Province] Dafa practitioners Qu Bin and Yang Chuangjun Are Suffering Persecution in Dalian City Prison
Dafa practitioner Mr. Qu Bin from Dalian City, Liaoning Province has been detained in Dalian City Prison for six months. During this period, Mr. Qu Bing resisted the persecution, and refused to do forced labor and recite the prison rules. Prison guards tried all conceivable methods, however Mr. Qu maintained his dignity. His family members were not allowed, during the entire six months, to send him basic necessities or money. Later his family members visited him several times and sent a total of 500 Yuan (1). However, the prison captain, Xiao Baoling, confiscated everything. Xiao Baoling even threatened Mr. Qu's elderly parents that the prison would extend his term if Mr. Qu refuses to be "transformed." He also told them that they had quota for death cases, etc.
Dafa practitioner Yang Chuanjun has been on hunger strike for over two months in Dalian City Prison. He endured tremendous pain and cruel torture before his family was allowed to visit.

2. [Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province] Dafa Practitioners Jiang Nianxiang and Xing Yuzhen's Family is Severely Persecuted
On September 6, 2002, police broke into Ms. Xing Yuzhen and her husband Mr. Jiang Nianxiang's home and arrested them. She is a teacher of No. 6 Middle School of Daqing City. Mr. Jiang received a six year sentence and is detained in Daqing Prison. Ms. Xiang Yuzhen was sent to the Harbin Drug Rehabilitation Center, where she was tortured. Their over-70-year-old mother and 14-year-old son were left alone at home. The mother fell down and injured her pelvis, as she had no one to take care of her. She died in 2003. Their son became homeless, with no one to look after him, until one of their family members took him in.
Ms. Xing Yuzhen, suffered from paralysis and numbness of the body due to torture in the drug rehabilitation center. She was even unable to eat, and required assistance. She became mentally unbalanced, resulting in an occasional state of confusion. She became comatose and suffered on and off from heart disease. Her life was in danger, yet the rehabilitation center staff forced her to work. Since she was unable to walk, they forced her to wrap chopsticks and toothpicks in her cell. She had to complete a given daily quota assigned by the guards. The guards also ordered other criminals to watch her and prevent her from talking with others. They also prevented others from talking to her.

Dafa practitioner Ms. Xiao Jiying is a retiree of Chongqiang City Yongchuan Petroleum Fourth Unit of Sichuan Province. In August 2002, she was unlawfully arrested in Chengdu City and was sentenced to a seven-year prison term. Her whereabouts are still unknown.
Dafa practitioner Ms. Tang Shulan was a student of Chongqiang City Sichuan Foreign Language College. In August 2002, she was unlawfully arrested in Chengdu City. Her whereabouts are still unknown.
Dafa practitioner Mr. Tang Jian was a PhD. student at Sichuan Province Nancong City Petroleum College. In May 2002, he was arrested in Chengdu City. His whereabouts are still unknown.
4. [Heifei City, Anhui Province] Two Dafa Practitioners from the Jianghuai Equipment Factory Are Arrested
At around 8:00 p.m. on March 2, 2004, Zhan Shiquan from the Shushan Police Department of Hefei City, Jiang Weizhong from the Xiyuan police station, and Sun Jin'gui from Jianghuai Equipment Factory broke into the home of Dafa practitioner Ms. Sun Jinling. They pretended that they had to check the water meter. They then arrested Ms. Sun. She is still detained. Ms. Sun was on maternity leave at the time.
They went to the home of Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Yuefang the same night. Since Ms. Wang was not home, they climbed over the wall and broke into Ms. Wang's home. They searched the entire home and confiscated some Dafa books and other items. On June 29, at around 6:00 a.m., Ms. Wang did the Falun Gong exercises in the small garden of the factory. Someone reported her. After arriving home, Ms. Wang was arrested by Yang Guolin and others from the Security Department of the factory. Ms. Wang's whereabouts are currently unknown.

5. [Hunan Province] Persecution of Dafa Practitioners by the Chenzhou Detention Center and "610 Office" (2)
1. The First Detention Center of Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, also called the Luosiling Detention Center, detained over 300 Dafa practitioners between July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, and July 3, 2004. Detained practitioners were from every city and county within or without the Chenzhou Prefecture. Some of them were detained for over two years. Practitioners were persecuted to death at this center, including Mr. Deng Guojun.
The Second Detention Center of Chenzhou City, also called Tiziling Detention Center, detained over 100 practitioners between July 20, 1999 and July 3, 2004. Most of the practitioners detained there were not residents of the town. They suffered inhuman persecution and cruel torture. One practitioner said, "The guards ordered the criminals to torture Dafa practitioners. If they refused, the guards beat the criminal in charge of the cell. I was detained there for a while and told the inmates the truth. The head criminal no longer wished to participated, but he was afraid of being beaten by the guards. So he came up with the idea to hit the wall with shoes, while someone pretended to shout in pain." The guards enjoyed hearing people's painful shouting. It was like music to their ears. If they did not hear such crying, they would brutally torture the inmate.
2. The Chenzhou City "610 Office" forced every work unit to increase the monitoring of Dafa practitioners. They wanted to further persecute Dafa practitioners. If practitioners wanted to go out in the evening, the work unit had to inform the "610 Office." Besides people patrolling on the streets, there were also people watching at given spots. They also arrested practitioners, including Mr. Li Hui, without legal grounds. Thanks to truth clarification, Mr. Li Hui's family and relatives already understood that Mr. Li Hui committed no crimes and they planned to go through legal channels to fight this injustice. Although they talked to many attorneys, none dared take his case. The lawyers all said, "This is a sensitive issue. We don't dare to take it." "If I help you with this case, I will have to tell the truth. Then I would lose my job."
6. [Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province] Shuangcheng City Government Officials Try to Frame Falun Gong
The water supply plant of Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province had not paid wages to its employees for two years. To receive their overdue wages, some plant employees went to the Shuangcheng City government to appeal, as stipulated under existing laws. One of the employees was a Dafa practitioner. In order to deny their responsibilities, the city government ordered the police to arrest the practitioner and frame Falun Gong, saying "Falun Gong instigated people to create trouble for the city government..."
Ms. Yan Shuying, 42, was an employee of the Shuangcheng City Water Supply Plant. At about 10:00 p.m. on June 26, 2004, police from the Shuangcheng City police department broke into Ms. Yan's home using a special key. They arrested and took Ms. Yan to the police station and later sent her to a detention center. They also confiscated all Falun Gong books and materials they found at her home.
7. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Five Dafa Practitioners from Laishui County Are Arrested During the Group Exercise
Five Dafa practitioners from Laishui County, Baoding City, Hebei Province were reported during group exercise. On the evening of June 19, the "610 Office" of Laishui County went to Wangcun Town Tou Village and arrested four practitioners. The next day, they arrested another practitioner. Among them were practitioners Zheng Shuping and Sun Cuirong. They were first detained at the Laishui County Police Department. Their current situation is not known.
8. [Linfen City, Shanxi Province] Dafa practitioner Li Mengqiang Is Arrested While Distributing Dafa Truth-Clarifying Materials
Dafa practitioner Mr. Li Mengqiang is from the Raodu District of Linfen City, Shanxi Province. On the evening of July 11, 2004, while Mr. Li was distributing Falun Dafa truth materials in the residential area of the Shanxi Province Wheat Research Institute, he was reported by the chief of the Wheat Research Institute Security Section, Li Yuming's wife. Along with the Linfen City Operative Police Unit and the Beicheng Police Station of Yaodu Public Security Sub-Bureau, the Security Section of the Wheat Research Institute arrested Mr. Li, and sent him to Lifen City Detention Center the same night. At around 1:00 a.m., over ten people from the Beicheng Police Station and Security Section of the Shanxi Province Normal School searched Mr. Meng Liqiang's home and confiscated his property.

9. [Guilin City, Guangxi Province] Mr. Liu Bin Has Been on Hunger Strike for Five Days
Guilin City Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Bin was arrested by policemen from Guilin City Qixing Police Department Operative Unit, and is now detained at the Guilin City Second Detention Center. It was made known that Mr. Liu has been on hunger strike for five days.

10. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Officials from Funing County Severely Trample Falun Gong Practitioners' Human Rights
On July 7, 2004, the Communist Party Chief of Zhucaoying Township and Shimenzhai Township in Funing County of Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province issued orders that the two police station staff arrest Dafa practitioners Mr. Du Huijie and Mr. Chen Lixin. Given Mr. Chen's family's efforts, Mr. Chen Lixin was not arrested, but he was forced to become homeless to avoid further persecution.
Mr. Du Huijie was sent to the brainwashing center in Funing County. The excuse used to abduct Mr. Du was absurd, as it was close to July 20 (3). Before this incident, the county Political Security Department and Township Police Station had broken into Mr. Du's home twice without any search warrant and confiscated Dafa books. It was a violation of the law and caused people to object greatly.

11. [Jingzhou City, Liaoning Province] Dafa Practitioner Mr. Zhang Xuezhong Illegally Sentenced to Three Years in a Forced Labor Camp
In June 2004, the Police Department of Jingzhou City (formal Nu'er'he Township Police Station) arrested Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Xuezhong at his home. They then went to homes of Dafa practitioners in Huashan Township and Baimiaozishu Township and tried to arrest more practitioners, but they did not succeed. They lied to Mr. Zhang's family, saying that Mr. Zhang was just being temporarily detained. However, Mr. Zhang was actually detained in a forced labor camp for a three-year term. Each time his family members went to Jiangzhou City Forced Labor Camp to visit they had to pay a 100 Yuan fine.
On the night of July 6, 2004, policemen from Tanghezi Police Station again went to Nu'er'he Township Textile Factory residential area and attempted to arrest Dafa practitioner Fei Yufeng and Wang Lihua at home without success, though they tried until midnight.

Facts of the Persecution
1) My name is Liang Caizhen. I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. Since July 20, 1999, when the persecution of Falun Dafa began, my home has been illegally searched, my salary suspended, and my family harassed. I have also been detained and forced to attend brainwashing sessions just because I practice "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance."
2) My name is Yong Fangzhi. On May 20, 2004, the police searched my home, abducted me, and took me to the Lishan Division of Anshan City Public Security Bureau. They then took me to the hospital in Tiedong District for a physical check-up. At the hospital, I was also given a detention card. When my blood pressure was taken, it was very high, measuring 240/130mmHg. Immediately, the police told the doctor to lower my blood pressure. First I was given an intravenous injection, and then an intramuscular injection. Immediately after the second injection, my heart started to beat fast and irregularly. I also felt an unbearable and intense pain in my lower abdomen, and I became light-headed and dizzy. After the injections were given, the police sent me to the First Municipal Detention Center, but the detention center refused to accept me because of my health condition. They had to send me back home. On June 10 the evil policemen abducted me again, along with my husband, and took us to the Lishan Division of Anshan City Public Security Bureau. From there we were sent to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp. When they checked my blood pressure, it was 250/170mmHg. They thought my life was in danger and refused to accept me.
3) Mr. Yin Cangsheng, 72, is a retired official and a Falun Gong practitioner from Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. In March 2004, he was reported to the authorities by Sun Xicai (cell: 86-13845800885) and arrested while distributing Falun Gong truth clarifying materials. Mr. Yin was illegally sentenced to four years in jail. His current health condition is very poor.
4) In November 2000, Ms. Yang Jie, a practitioner from Zhongwei County, Ningxia Hui Province, went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. For that, she was sentenced to two years of forced labor. Later her term was extended for another year. In the forced labor camp, she worked 16-17 hour shifts every day. She was also beaten by the policemen with electric batons, "cuffed and hung up" (1) for ten consecutive days, and forced to stand in front of a wall for thirty days, all because she refused to give up the practice of Falun Gong. The perpetrators monitored her around the clock. One time she fell asleep and was beaten, cursed, and insulted. Although she was released in September of 2003, she was still monitored and harassed by the police. Ms. Yang left home in 2004 to avoid further persecution and has been homeless since.
5) Jiao Jiagan is an employee of the Power Supply Company of Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. In October 1999, he went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, and was detained for one month. In December 2000, he was illegally detained by his workplace while the leaders of his company coerced his family members to sign a document giving them permission to institutionalize him. The document was prepared by the "610 Office" (2). Having no other choice, Mr. Jiao went to Beijing to appeal again. For going to Beijing, he was sentenced to two years of forced labor. In the forced labor camp, he suffered all means of torture, including carrying heavy loads on a shoulder pole, beatings, insults, forced-feedings, and sleep deprivation. In 2003 he returned to work at his company. For two weeks, he was forced to attend brainwashing sessions every day. Since the end of December 2003, he has been detained at the brainwashing center.
6) Falun Gong practitioner, Ms. Leng Xiuxia was a teacher at the Third Middle School in Lingdian County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province. She was fired because she refused to give up her belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance," and was abducted many times. On May 1, 2002, she was secretly sent to the Drug Abstention Center of Harbin City and was subjected to forced labor for three years. Practitioner Mr. Cao Guozhi was also a teacher at the Third Middle School in Lingdian County. For continuing to practice Falun Gong, he has been illegally detained, beaten, and suffered other forms of physical torture. In May 2002, Mr. Cao was abducted again when he was distributing truth-clarification materials. Because he refused to write the so-called "Three Statements" (3), he was secretly sentenced to four years in jail in Daqing City. Currently, he is still detained in jail and suffering much torture.
The Shooting Incident in South Africa
On July 7, 2004, Hong Kong Falun Gong practitioners sent a letter to the Legislative Committee informing the members of the terrorist act committed by Jiang's Regime: the hiring of someone to shoot at Falun Gong practitioners in South Africa. The letter stressed that this incident shows the evil nature of Jiang's Regime.
The Chairman of The Chinese Religion Persecution Investigation Committee, Mr. Li Shixiong, when interviewed by a reporter of the Epoch Times said, "With no doubt, this incident was intended to attack the Chinese. Why would the people of South Africa meaninglessly attack the Chinese? This is the key to understanding the case. It must be Zeng Qinghong behind the whole incident. There is no doubt. All of the national leaders and embassies of any country will protect the people of their own country. Only China is different. The function of its embassies is to collect information, investigate, control, persecute, and even murder its people overseas."
Good Is Rewarded with Good
There is a practitioner in a city of Hebei Province whose relative has a two-month-old baby that suddenly contracted an odd disease, consisting of a high fever and a comatose state. The hospital diagnosed that the infant had serious cerebral and gastric hemorrhaging and may die at any time. After hearing this, the practitioner immediately went to the hospital and told the child's mother and aunt that by repeatedly saying, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good" silently, and with a pure heart, can benefit the child. The very next day the baby came out of the coma. The family members continued saying, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance is good." A week later, the baby recovered and left the hospital. Filled with emotion the child's grandmother held the practitioner's hand and said, "I will continue saying, ¡®Falun Dafa Is Good' and ¡®Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance is good.'"
Facts of Crimes Committed by Evil People
Jia Jiwei is the director of the Police Station of Hongqi Township in the city of Wuchang, Heilongjiang Province. In April 2002, he abducted practitioners Na Yanbo and Zhang Yanchao. The practitioners were preparing to broadcast Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials to protect the people's legal right to know the truth. Later Zhang Yanchao was tortured to death, and Na Yanbo was sent to the Changlinzi Forced Labor Camp of Harbin City.
In April 2004 the evil policemen of the Ximing Town Police Station kidnapped practitioner Ms. Li Jinlan from the field where she was farming. Four or five policemen carried her into the police car. They sent her to the 264th Hospital for a physical check-up, which showed that she was not physically qualified to be sent to the forced labor camp. Regardless of the results, the policemen still sent her to the forced labor camp. Afterwards the policemen kidnapped another practitioner, Ms. Cao Chunxiang, who lives in the same village as Ms. Li Jinlan. They sent Ms. Cao Chunxiang to the Xindian Women's Forced Labor Camp.

(1). "Cuffed and hung up" - With both hands cuffed, one is then hung from a basketball support or the beam of a building with the toes barely touching the ground or not at all. The hands and arms soon become paresthetic and numb.
(2). "610 Office" - An agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
(3). The "Three Statements"- Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write these as proof that they have given up their belief. Created by the "610 Office," the three statements consist of a letter of repentance, a guarantee to never again practice Falun Gong, and a list of names and addresses of all family members, friends and acquaintances who are practitioners.

Facts of the Persecution
1) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Jun and his wife Yu Guiling lived in Commune No. 3 of Suxiang Village, Erdao Township, Fengman District, Jilin City, Jilin Province. Since July 20, 1999, when the persecution began, police have ransacked their home many times. Liu Jun has been detained multiple times, sent to forced labor camps, and almost beaten to death in the Liaoyuan Forced Labor Camp. Yu Guiling was sent to forced labor camp for one year. On the evening of July 19, 2004, police and Township officials ransacked their home again, and brutally beat them.
2) On July 17, 2004, police from the Lanjiang Substation in Suining City, Sichuan Province tried break into Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Yuqiong's home to abduct her. She woke up her neighbors, and told them what was going on. Her neighbors spoke out against the police's crimes. The police could not do anything, and withdrew to their vehicle. Falun Dafa practitioners walked away from danger under Master Li's benevolent protection.
3) Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhao Xuemin was an employee of the training center for the Hebei Provincial Power Company (formerly called the Power Institute). His employer monitored him for a long time, and tried to send him to brainwashing sessions but failed. Finally, they sent him to a forced labor camp with the help of the Dongdajie Police Substation. Mr. Zhao was severely tortured in the forced labor camp. He became very weak, and was bed-ridden. In fear of being responsible for his death, the police released him in May 2002.

On the evening of July 20, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners in Berkeley, California joined a city council meeting where they revealed how Jiang and his regime hired thugs to shoot at Falun Dafa practitioners in South Africa.
On July 16, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners in Columbia City, located in the middle of Missouri, successfully held a press conference in the Township Government Conference Hall, and exposed the five-year-long persecution of Falun Gong inside and outside China by Jiang and his regime, especially the horrible shooting incident in South Africa that recently took place.

Solemn Declaration
I didn't study the Fa well and did not understand the Fa principles clearly, so even though I studied the Fa everyday and did things to assist Teacher in saving sentient beings, I did not do it with singleness of purpose, but for selfish reasons. The old forces took advantage of my gaps because I didn't clearly understand the Fa principles and because of my attachment to sentimentality. Deceived by their false kindness, I cooperated with the evil authorities. Through studying the Fa in earnest, I found the root cause of my attachment. Now I regret what I did. I hereby solemnly declare everything I said and did before in front of the evil, which was not in accordance with Dafa, null and void. I will let go of my fundamental attachments and follow Teacher's Fa-rectification process closely. I will firmly believe in Teacher and Dafa, do well in the three basic things of studying the Fa, sending righteous thoughts and clarifying the truth. I will follow Teacher closely to the conclusion of Fa-rectification, and be worthy of the title of Fa-rectification Dafa disciple. I will redouble my efforts to make up for the loss I caused Dafa.

In October of 1999, I went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa and was illegally arrested by Jiang's political gang. I was held in a detention center for 15 days and the police extorted more than 4,300 Yuan from me. In January of 2000, I went to Beijing again to appeal for Dafa. The police again arrested me without cause. After being held in a detention center for 15 days, I was sent to jail for 7 days. Then, I was sentenced to labor camp for one year and they still imposed a fine of 6,200 Yuan on me, which would be deducted from my husband's and my wages every month. While in the city's detention center, the deputy director of the center once cruelly beat us while drunk. More than ten practitioners were at the receiving end of his drunken fury. My left eye was beaten, swollen and red, and I lost hearing in my left ear for more than 10 days. In the labor camp for women, whenever we practiced the exercises or studied the Fa, the guards and criminals jailed for substance-abuse would beat us, or force us to stand facing the walls or under the scorching sun. My body was always covered with bruises. Once I was forced to stand under the blazing sun for a long time and I fainted. I didn't wake up until a long time later, and as soon as I woke up I was made to continue to stand. In the labor camp, the cursing from the guards, the noise from the electric batons used to shock the practitioners, and the screams from practitioners who were enduring the torture, all made me very anxious and scared. Under the influence of my own attachments and swayed by my captors, and unable to bear the pain and pressure, I yielded to the evil forces against my conscience. I did something that a Dafa practitioner should not do, I wrote a "letter to break with Dafa," and caused great loss to Dafa and a stain on my cultivation. It also had bad effects on the practitioners who had yet to come out and join in the Fa-rectification. However, the compassionate Teacher gave me another chance. Under Teacher's merciful protection and aided by fellow practitioners' patient sharing, I soon awakened and became determined to correct my mistakes. I shall cherish the chance to practice Dafa given by Teacher and double my efforts to make up for the loss I caused Dafa, and do well in the three things Dafa practitioners must do during the Fa-rectification period. I hereby solemnly declare everything I said, did, and wrote, under the brutal persecution in the labor camp, which was not in accordance with Dafa, completely null and void. I shall firmly cultivate in Dafa, thoroughly rectify my former mistakes, strive forward vigorously, and redouble my efforts to make up for the losses I caused Dafa.
