Mother of Toronto Resident on Brink of Death from Forced Injection of Nerve-damaging Drugs (Photo)

June 03, 2004 |

Huang Xin

(Clearwisdom.net) Ms. Huang Xin is a retired military examiner. She was sent to the Liaoning Province Female Prison Hospital for refusing to give up her belief in Falun Gong. At the hospital she was injected with nerve-damaging drugs against her will and has lost most of her memory as well as displays slow reactions to her surroundings.

According to Huang Xin's son, Zeng Xiaonan, who currently lives in Toronto, Canada, she has been held at the Hepatitis Ward of the Prison Hospital's Infectious Disease Division for four months, where she was forced to take two daily doses of Chlorpromazine hydrochloride (trade name: Thorazine. Reference: http://www.sntp.net/drugs/thorazine.htm). Because of the side effects of the high drug dose, her mind has become blurry. Sometimes she cannot speak and has difficulty moving her lower limbs. When her husband went to visit her, her thought processes and movements were extremely slow. She belabored over every word. Ms. Huang repeatedly told her family that if she struggled during the injection, she was subjected to electric shocks and beaten. After that she was tied up in restraints until she was exhausted.

Zeng Xiaonan said his mother is 50 years old and worked as an examiner at the Shenbei Railroad Hospital in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. She suffered from chronic low blood pressure, low stomach acid, low blood sugar and anemia. Her poor health forced her into early retirement at age 40. Since she began practicing Falun Gong in 1995, she miraculously recovered and became an open and happy person.

Arrested Four Times and Beaten

Huang Xin went to Beijing twice in 1999 to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was sent back to Shenyang City. Since 2000, the local police constantly harassed Huang Xin's family. The authorities tried to force Huang Xin to sign a statement renouncing her belief in Falun Gong, and they ordered her to give them the names and contact information for other practitioners. They ordered Huang Xin to report to the police department on a weekly basis, to make sure she didn't leave Shenyang City. The police and her work unit extorted nearly 10,000 Yuan from her for various fines and bonds that were never refunded to her. As Huang Xin refused to renounce her belief in Falun Gong, the police tapped her phone and ransacked her home numerous times. Plainclothes police often followed Huang Xin's family on their outings. The police also coerced Huang Xin's retired neighbors into watching her family and reporting on their movements and actions. Since 2001, Huang Xin's work unit cut off her salary. Between 2001 and 2003, Huang Xin's family was compelled to move four times to escape the constant harassment from the authorities. Right now they live in a remote suburban area.

In 2002, Huang Xin was arrested while delivering Dafa truth clarification materials. She held a hunger strike for a few days in a detention center and was transferred to the Dabei Prison Hospital in Shenyang City. The authorities refused to release her until she was on the brink of death. Huang Xin's weight dropped to about 60 lbs and her body was covered with congealed blood as a result from electric shocks they administered to her. She was unconscious and on the brink of death. After she recovered she was sentenced to two years of forced labor without a trial. Through her family's efforts she was given a medical parole.

In March 2003, Huang Xin was again arrested, and the Heping District Court in Shenyang City secretly sentenced her to eight years in prison without a written verdict and didn't notify her family. She was sent to Group Six, Division Nine in the Liaoning Province's Female Prison. About four months prior, the guards transferred her to Liaoning Province's Female Prison Hospital, where the guards started to force her to take Thorazine, a psychiatric drug [an extremely potent psychotropic agent] after they were unsuccessful in forcing her to give up her belief using various torture methods.

When overseas Falun Gong practitioners called the prison, the authorities said Huang Xin was made to take Thorazine because she has a mental disorder, but they were silent when asked whether a psychological and medical exam was performed on Huang Xin before she was ordered to take the medication. The prison is constantly receiving phone calls from abroad and the authorities have become very nervous over the exposure of their criminal actions.

According to a Clearwisdom report, 37-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Sun Yuhua from Anshan City, Liaoning Province was sent to the Liaoning Province Female Prison in March 2003. On April 11, 2003, female guards Wang Xiuhong and Chen Xuena directed prisoners who beat her to death. In order to cover up their crime, the prison authority has blocked all information and claimed Sun Yuhua died from a hunger strike.

More than 90 people died in prison in Liaoning Province; Bo Xilai served with lawsuits in countries around the world

According to an investigative report published by the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) website, more than 1,000 healthy Falun Gong practitioners have been sent to mental hospitals where they were injected with or forced to take medications; 110 mental hospitals in China were used as tools in the persecution of Falun Gong. The World Psychiatric Association originally planned to investigate China's psychiatric abuse on April 4, 2004, but the trip was cancelled due to lack of cooperation from the Chinese government.

The WOIPFG has published investigative reports on Bo Xilai, the Minister of Commerce and Ding Shifa, the secretary of Liaoning Province Politics and Law Committee. Bo Xilai was charged with genocide and crimes against humanity in April and May in the U.S. and the U.K. According to an official Chinese media report, during Bo Xilai's rule as Dalian City Mayor and Liaoning Province Governor, Liaoning Province invested one billion Yuan into enhancing its prison system, 500 million Yuan was spent alone on the Masanjia Labor Camp Yuhong District, Shenyang City. Liaoning Province built the first prison complex in China in 2003 on a 2,000 mu piece of land (about 330 acres). The Dabei Prison and the Dabei Female Prison were moved to this area. China's first prison complex was built simply to hold Falun Gong practitioners. At Masanjia in October 2000, 18 female Falun Gong practitioners were stripped naked and thrown into male criminals' cells to be subjected to all manner of abuse. The report of this atrocity caused shockwaves in the international community.
