The Persecution A Practitioner in Liaoning Province Experienced

June 25, 2004 |   By Dafa practitioner Yan Laisheng from Liaoning Province

(Clearwisdom.net) I live in Yanjia Village, Yi County, Liaoning Province. I am very fortunate to have started cultivation in Falun Dafa in 1996. Since then, I've benefited tremendously. Falun Dafa has changed me into a truly good person.

In October 1999, exercising my constitutional right, I went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. But I was met with unjustifiable arrest, and relentless abuse and beating. The police took away my ID. Several days later, Li Guozong, vice director of the Toudaohe Town Police Station of Yi County escorted me to Yi County Prison. During my one-month detention there, they threatened me to make me give up practicing Falun Gong, but it was in vain regardless of the methods they used. In the end, the director of the police station Li Fuquan released me after extorting 5000 yuan [1] from my family.

On December 5, 1999, for fear that I would go to Beijing, policemen Wang Shuting, Li Fuquan and others arrested and detained me and 14 other practitioners without grounds. They coerced us into turning in 200 yuan each. We reasoned with them and went on hunger strike to protest. Finally they sent us home unconditionally.

In January 2000, I went to the State Council Appealing Office in Beijing again. Only after a few words, I was taken to Longfeng Hotel, a place for temporarily holding Falun Gong practitioners. The police discriminated against and hurled abuses at practitioners there groundlessly. Two days later, Li Fuquan took me back again to Yi County Prison. This time, they released me after extorting 2000 yuan from my family. However since then, police and staff from the county government often came to my place to harass me, which has caused misunderstandings from the people in the village who didn't know about the truth of Falun Gong. It has had a bad effect on them

Because I kept practicing at home and telling people about the persecution, I was often monitored and followed by the police. My daily life has been severely interfered with. Under such circumstances, I went to Beijing to appeal again. My physical body had been under persecution for a long period of time. This time, after I was arrested and detained lawlessly, I protested with a hunger strike, but before long I became so weak that I almost died. The Beijing police were afraid to take responsibility if anything happened to my life. At that time, there were many foreign media in Beijing showing grave concern about Falun Gong. They constantly exposed and condemned the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. So the police set me free unconditionally.

However, only a few days after I was back, while I was still in the phase of recovering, Li Fuquan came to my home again. Seeing my extremely poor physical condition, he didn't take me away, but I was forced to leave home to avoid near certain later arrest. In May 2002, I went home to see my wife who was about to give birth to our new baby. Learning about my return, Li Fuquan kidnapped me to the Yi County Prison, where I was beaten and abused by the police at will. I protested with a hunger strike. They then force-fed [2] me and gave me an infusion. Later on, they thought I was too stubborn. So on June 12, 2002, Li Fuquan led two policemen to send me to the Jinzhou Forced Labor Camp. Because of my poor health, the labor camp refused to take me. Only then did they let me go back home.

[1] yuan: Chinese currency; the average monthly pay of an urban worker.

[2] Force-feeding: A torture method to use on Falun Gong practitioners who go on hunger strike. Non-medical personnel force a non-medical tube down into practitioner's stomach through the nose or mouth, and then pour in irritating stuff. Many have died from this type of torture.
