(Clearwisdom.net) The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited Belgium on May 5th. Falun Gong practitioners from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France peacefully appealed in the capital city of Brussels to call for an end of the persecution of Falun Gong. Bo Xilai, former Mayor of Dalian City and former Governor of Liaoning Province who was appointed as the new Chinese Minister of Commerce, accompanied Wen Jiabao to visit five European countries. On the first day when Wen Jiabao arrived in Germany, Falun Gong practitioners held a peaceful appeal and unfurled banners that read "Welcome Wen Jiabao", "Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice" and "Expel Human Rights Criminal Bo Xilai".
A Falun Gong practitioner said, "After our activities began, the German police received protests from the Chinese delegation, who said that banners reading 'Expel human rights criminal Bo Xilai' attacked the Chinese delegation's reputation. After listening to the Falun Gong practitioners' explanation, the police did not consider this an attack, but just simply stating a fact."
Before the start of the Chinese-German High-Tech Forum on the second day, some practitioners saw Bo Xilai's car passing by in front of the banners and enter the conference venue. On November 2003, forty Falun Gong practitioners in Germany filed a lawsuit to the German Supreme Court. In the petition, Bo Xilai was accused of genocide, crime against humanity and torture.
After taking the post of Chinese Minister of Commerce, Bo Xilai was invited to visit Germany on March 25. Human rights organizations in Germany and Falun Gong practitioners protested and condemned Bo's violation of human rights and requested the German government to refuse his entry. Later, China decided to postpone his visit.
Based on reports from Clearwisdom.net, during Bo Xilai's tenure as the mayor of Dalian City, the city was one of the worst cities in terms of persecuting of Falun Gong, with 15 documented cases of practitioners being killed as a result of the persecution. Dalian City Labor Camp was selected as an "Advanced Unit" in forcing practitioners to renounce their beliefs. The Dalian police department conducted comprehensive persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. For Bo Xilai's role in the persecution, Jiang Zemin promoted him to be the Governor of Liaoning Province.
While Bo Xilai was Governor of Liaoning Province, it was one of the provinces where the persecution was the most severe. As of December 1, 2003, the deaths of 90 Falun Gong practitioners due to police torture were documented. The number of deaths ranked number 4 among all provinces in China. Many labor camps in the province, such as Masanjia Labor Camp, Dabei Prison, and Dalian Labor Camp apply extremely cruel and inhumane means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. At least three mental hospitals in Liaoning Province, Anshan Tangjiafang Mental Hospital, Yingkou Mental Hospital and a mental hospital in Lingyuan City, were confirmed to be participating in the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners.
