Legal Action against the Unlawful Sichuan Police

A Falun Dafa practitioner from Sichuan Province went to a nearby country town to clarify the facts. When the local police heard about it, they sent a few men to arrest him. During the arrest, they kicked and punched him and later, put him in the police station's jail. On demanding an explanation, the police could not tell the practitioner under what law he was being arrested.

On being released, the practitioner felt that he should find out more about the legality of the police actions, so he bought himself three law books: the Constitution, Criminal Law and Legislative Law. After perusing the books carefully, he found out that the police had been usurping their power--their violent behavior and arresting of Falun Gong practitioners were illegal according to the law, whereas what the Falun Gong practitioners did was legal.

After understanding the law, he drafted a letter of prosecution against the police. In the letter, he described the situation under which he was arrested, and at the same time took the opportunity to clarify the truth, telling them what Dafa was all about. He pointed out that he had not broken any laws, and the rights he had as a citizen according to the nation's Constitution. On the contrary, the officers' violent actions and putting him under arrest were illegal. At the same time, he also pointed out the specific articles in the Legislation that condemn attempts to explain the People's Congress Legislation, as have been given by the People's Supreme Court and the People's Supreme Examination Court--their explanations do not carry any legal weight.

The practitioner forwarded over a dozen copies of the "letter of prosecution" to various organizations that deal with legal matters, warning them of the breach of law in their actions against Falun Gong. On reading the letter, many law officers could not believe that what they did to the Falun Gong practitioners was illegal. They dug up the law books only to find out that there was not a single law written that could be used to justify their actions against the Falun Gong practitioners.

Assisted by other practitioners, more work is now being done along these lines, which in turn provides an opportunity to clarify the truth to more people, and restrict the persecution against Falun Gong.
