Persecution facts

1) In the past several years, authorities in Wuxue City, Hubei Province have secretly arrested and detained hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners. They have sent dozens of practitioners to labor camps, tortured four practitioners to death, sent four to prison and also have extorted tens of thousands of Yuan(1) from Wuxue City practitioners.

They bulldozed to the ground the houses of the practitioners who could not afford to pay a so-called fine, and the practitioners' family members drank pesticides in a desperate cry for justice. The practitioners' children were forced to drop out of school and their families were broken apart.

2) In 1998, a flood hit the Wuxue area. Dafa practitioner Chen Guozhen donated more than 100,000 Yuan for flood aid to the Civil Administration Bureau and gave her name as "a Falun Gong practitioner." During the past six years, Chen Guozhen was abducted, sent to labor camps and detained numerous times. On March 18, 2004, Chen Guoshui, an official from Chen Guozhen's work unit and Zhou, head of Security Division, tricked Chen Guozhen into going to her work unit. Li from the "610 Office"(2) and Tian Zhigang from the Qinglin Police Station abducted and sent her to the "610 Office" headquarters in Hubei Province.

3) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zheng Jumei from Yidu City, Hubei Province went to Beijing to appeal twice, once in late 1999 and again on December 24, 2000 and was detained in Beijing for many days. Yidu City police officers sent her to a detention center and detained her for two years and 4 months. Guard Cao Lihui and detention center head Yang often beat her. During the cold weather, they took off Zheng Jumei's coat to body search and humiliate her. On April 25, 2003, Zheng Jumei was released. Her hair had turned white and she was emaciated.

4) Savage torture at the Dalian City Labor Camp in 2001:

Fifty-six-year-old Dafa practitioners Hu Guilian and Zhang Guirong were beaten. Hu Guilian was beaten so severely she had many bumps on her head, her body was black and blue and her face became deformed. Nonetheless, Ms. Zhang Guirong persisted in practicing Falun Dafa. The guards handcuffed her and threatened to extend her sentence. They shocked her with electric batons. Group heads Wang Zhaodan and Wang Lu ordered six perpetrators to hit practitioner Wang Binhua with a mop and with plastic shoes. The mop handle broke into several parts, and the shoe soles broke. Wang Binhua had fallen unconscious before the abusers stopped. Wang Binhua's head was deformed and blood gushed from his nose and eyes. The bleeding continued for over two weeks.

5) Authorities from Sishanling Township, Nanfen District, Benxi City, Liaoning Province persecute Dafa practitioners. Two police officers, Hu Yibo and Jia, frequently went to the homes of Dafa practitioners to harass them. When Hu Yibo went to Dafa practitioners' homes during the night, he shone a flashlight in the practitioner's home and went through the practitioner's belongings. In 2001, Jia abducted Dafa practitioner Guan Hecai and sent him to the Ajialing Detention Center where he held Guan Hecai for 15 days and forced him to do slave labor. Guan Zhenyi, security head of Sandaohe Village, Sishanling Township, Nanfen District, Benxi City, Liaoning Province led police officers to harass and arrest Dafa practitioners in their homes. He threatened practitioners, saying, "You cannot practice at home."

News from abroad

On March 12, 2004, in its morning program, Australia national TV Channel 7 reported Falun Gong practitioners' performing outdoor exercises. When the picture switched from the broadcast room to Williamstown, practitioners doing Falun Dafa exercises appeared before the audience. The host told the audience, "This practice is extremely beneficial for improving physical and mental health. Over a hundred million people around the world practice Falun Dafa and all Falun Dafa activities are free of charge."

(1) Yuan is the unit of currency in China, where the average monthly salary of an urban worker is 500 Yuan.

(2) "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.
