Ms. Dai Chunhua, a thirty-four-year-old Falun Gong practitioner, was a nurse at the First People's Hospital in Lishu County of Jilin Province. On February 19, 2002, she was arrested by police from Siping City, and detained at the city's detention center. Twenty days later, she was tortured to death.

In December 2000, Dai Chunhua went to Beijing to appeal and was sent back to her local detention center. After going on hunger strike for one week, she was released. In January 2002, while publicly distributing materials that explained the facts of the persecution of Falun Dafa, she was arrested by authorities of the Kangping Police Station in Lishu County, but was able to escape using her wisdom. On February 4, 2002, Falun Dafa Day in Siping City, she and another practitioner were arrested while distributing truth-clarifying materials at Shanmen, a suburb of Siping City. On the way back to Siping City, she and her fellow practitioner jumped out of police car and escaped again.

On February 19, 2002, while working on truth-clarifying materials, Dai Chunhua was arrested by police, who destroyed the truth-clarifying materials production site and sent her to Siping City Detention Center. She went on hunger strike to protest her illegal detention and was thus cruelly tortured. Twenty days later, on the morning of March 9, she was tortured to death. After her death, it was discovered that on her corpse, there was a puncture mark at her collarbone, and her breasts were full of punctures that were apparently a result of piercing with some sharp metal objects. Moreover, her back had turned purple and red with bruises. Surprisingly, the police department of Siping City acknowledged that they tortured her to death, and therefore the police department paid the funeral expenses. In many cases, the police do not admit responsibility and grieving families are forced to bear the funeral expenses.

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhu Meijuan from Jiaozhou, Qingdao City, Shandong Province, died on March 21, 2004 at the age of 36 while escaping persecution.

(Note: Zhu Meijuan died between March 9 and March 23. Because the perpetrators blocked all information, further investigation will reveal the actual date of her death.)

Plainclothes police followed Zhu Meijuan when she was distributing truth clarification materials. At 5:00 a.m. on March 21, officers from Jiaozhou City Police Department went to Zhu Meijuan's home and tried to open the door to her home with some tools. They worked on her door for two hours. As they were about to open the door at 7:00 a.m., in attempt to escape, Zhu Meijuan climbed down the sewer pipe on the outside of the building from the sixth floor. When she reached the third floor, the pipe broke and Zhu Meijuan died upon impact.

Zhu Meijuan was an employee of Qingdao Metal Boiler Factory. She began practicing Dafa in 1996. Ms. Zhu went to Beijing to appeal for Dafa in October 2000 and kept clarifying the truth to people and saving people. She has always been very diligent on the path of cultivation. Her husband Zhou Zhaohua served in military before and held the rank of captain, and later worked as an official in Yanghe Town, Jiaozhou City. The authorities at Jiazhou Court illegally sentenced him to four years of forced labor. He is currently being held at the Weibei Farm in Shandong Province. Their 11-year-old daughter is left home alone, with no parents to care for her.

The death of Zhu Meijuan is the result of another round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners in Jiaozhou City. Because Dafa practitioners in Jiaozhou exposed the perpetrators' crimes against Dafa, the lawless officials were infuriated and irately retaliated against the practitioners. The local government issued Document No. 11 to arrange the persecution and mobilized many spies to follow and monitor Dafa practitioners. More than ten practitioners including Wang Mingjiang and his wife were arrested. Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhu Meijuan died as a result of the persecution.

We call on the international community to stop the fanatic persecution against Dafa practitioners in Jiaozhou and rescue Zhou Zhaohua!

(Clearwisdom.net) Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Keyan, 23 years old, lived in Paizhouwan Town, Jiayu County, Hubei Province. In May 2000, she went to Beijing to appeal, was arrested and detained at the No. 1 Detention Center in Jiayu County. During the detention she was violently tortured, leading her to frequent vomiting of blood. The perpetrators sent her to Jiayu County People's Hospital when she was near death. The detention center officials were afraid of taking responsibilities for their evil deeds, so they sent her home. The perpetrators from Paizhouwan Town "610 Office" went to her home numerous times to harass her and even stole a truckload of wooden couches from her home. Zhang Keyan passed away in March 2002.

Dafa practitioner Mr. Shen Guoyan, 60 years old, lived in Paizhouwan Town, Jiayu County, Hubei Province. He persisted in Dafa practice and was reported to the authorities in September 2001. The local police ransacked his home and seized his Falun Dafa books. He went to the police station and asked for the return of his Falun Dafa books, but the police refused to return them. In late September 2001, he was arrested while publicly distributing truth clarification materials and was sent to the No. 1 Detention Center in Jiayu County where the guards viciously beat him and violently struck his chest. They tortured him with various methods until his whole body became swollen and he was on the brink of death. Mr. Shen was released in October 2002 and passed away in February 2003. His ten-year-old grandson whose only family was Shen Guoyan is now left home all alone.

Jin Weihao: former secretary of the Politics and Law Committee for Paizhouwan Town, Jiayu County, Hubei Province. During his term, he followed Jiang's group in persecuting Falun Gong and personally led police to arrest ten Falun Gong practitioners and sent them to a detention center for as long as 19 months. Two practitioners were cruelly tortured during their detention and passed away soon after they were released. He also led perpetrators to ransack Dafa practitioners' homes and confiscate Dafa books. These enforcers forcibly took a truckload of wooden couches from the home of Dafa practitioner Zhang Keyan. They illegally imposed an arbitrary amount of 3,610 Yuan in fines on Dafa practitioners. This criminal individual, Jin Weihao, is currently the head of Jiayu County's Public Enterprises Bureau.

Sun Jihong: former Paizhouwan Town police station head. During his term, he followed Jiang's group in persecuting Falun Gong and personally led police to arrest and detain six Falun Gong practitioners. Two practitioners were cruelly tortured during their detention and passed away soon after they were released. He also led perpetrators to ransack Dafa practitioners' homes. He illegally imposed an arbitrary amount of 3,610 Yuan in fines on the practitioners. He is currently promoted to the position as the head of Jiayu County Traffic Police Team.

Xu Keping: former head of Paizhouwan Town Police Station in Jiayu County, Hubei Province

The two above-named perpetrators personally ordered the arrest of four practitioners and the detention of three Dafa practitioners. They also led many police officers to ransack the practitioners' homes and imposed an illegal 2,840 Yuan fine on the practitioners.

Xu Keping often beat Dafa practitioners. He suffered a sudden attack of psychiatric disorder in August 2003 and has received retribution. Right now he is the deputy head of the internal security section for Jiayu County Police Department.

Ms. Piao Jizi was a 49-year-old doctor working at the Disease Prevention Unit of Yanji, Jilin Province. Before she practiced Falun Gong, she suffered from many severe diseases. After she began cultivation practice, her illnesses all went away. She often said, "It is Dafa that saved my life." After the persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999, she held firm to her belief in Dafa and went out to validate the fact that Falun Dafa was good. In 2001, she was abducted and sent to Yanji City Police Department to be persecuted. In September 2001, she was sentenced to forced re-education through labor. Because she showed symptoms of severe diseases, the police had to release her on medical parole.

After returning home, she clarified the facts of Falun Gong with an even greater effort. The police had attempted many times to arrest her again. In March 2003, she had to leave home to avoid further persecution. Because she did not have any income, she lived a very hard life. She was not able to see Teacher's new articles. Although she kept studying the Fa, practicing the exercises and clarifying the truth, the tremendous pressure she suffered while living away from home had devastated her body. She passed away in a hospital on January 8, 2004.

Mr. Ma Zhongxing, 52, was a Falun Gong practitioner from Shenyang City, Liaoning Province. On January 19, 2000, he went to Beijing to validate Dafa and was arrested. While in detention, he was brutally beaten. Later he was sent back to Shenyang, where he was detained in the Fifth Detention Center in Dongling District. Yuhong District Police Department in Shenyang then sentenced him to three years of forced labor education and sent him to the Longshan Labor Camp in Shenyang.

While in detention, he was brutally tortured. As a result, he developed symptoms of severe heart disease and he vomited blood. In order to evade their responsibility in his condition, the labor camp released him on medical parole. After he returned home, however, the local street committee and Huanghai police station took turns harassing him. On November 1, 2001, he passed away.

(Clearwisdom.net) My daughter Hu Yu and I, Bo Minghua, were subjected to brutal torture because we practiced Falun Gong. Since September 28, 2002, when my daughter and I were thrown into jail for no justifiable reason, we were subjected to inhuman treatment. During one particular interrogation, the police put a pair of 42 pound shackles on me for refusing to wear a prison uniform. I could not move while wearing these shackles. The policemen had to order two inmates from another jail cell to drag me to the interrogation. After the interrogation, they dragged me back again. Bloody blisters appeared on my heels because of the shackles. At the time, I was already 55 years old and blind, but this did not prevent them from using such violence against me.

On June 20, 2003, the police falsely accused us and indicted us for fabricated crimes. We started a hunger strike to protest this injustice. On the third day of the hunger strike, the police dragged my daughter out of our jail cell. They force-fed her using the cruelest methods. Four male inmates held my daughter to the ground and pried her mouth open with a tool, which caused all her teeth to loosen. After the forced feeding, they placed shackles and handcuffs on her that were designed to force her into a twisted posture, and sent her back to the prison cell. She needed assistance just to be able to walk, as her feet were causing her much pain. She was no longer able to control her bladder and bowels. The next day, after her forced feeding, she was shackled and handcuffed to her bed and was not even able to move. This form of torture lasted a week.

One of the policemen responsible for the forced-feedings forced my daughter to persuade me to eat. At that time, my daughter's face was covered with a flour mixture and her hair was completely disheveled from the torture. My daughter cried as soon as she saw me. She said: "Mom, please eat. You are old and you cannot bear the torture." I swallowed my grief and answered: "You must be steadfast. We must resist with righteous thoughts." The vicious police took my daughter away when they realized that I could not be persuaded.

After a moment, the door opened again and the policemen dragged me out. I had already been on hunger strike for three days, and felt dizzy. I fell to the ground when I was dragged out of the prison cell. My arms and legs cramped and I lost consciousness. Despite my condition, the police still ordered four other inmates to drag me to the road which caused both of my legs to start bleeding. They left me on the concrete ground. I was beaten on my brow until it was bleeding. After I had barely recovered, several persons jumped on top of me to force-feed me. Four other inmates held me to the ground. They tried to open my mouth with a special tool, which caused my mouth to become numb and to lose all feeling. They tried to open my mouth for about two consecutive hours. When they took the tool from my mouth, my mouth would not close anymore, all my teeth had become loose, my gums were swollen, and I was spitting blood. In this condition, my tormentors lifted me up and dropped me to the concrete ground. At the same time, I heard one of them murmuring that it was just like lifting a dead pig. Another one replied that dead pigs are not afraid of being dipped into hot water. While mocking and abusing me in this way, they started to force-feed me again. My mouth was forced open as wide as possible. They dumped a mixture of flour into my mouth. I held my breath and did not swallow anything and so they pinched my nose. I resisted until my arms and legs were cramping again. At this point, they stopped. Having failed in their brutal torture, they dragged me back to the prison cell.

No matter how brutal the wicked policemen were, I did not give in, I resisted with righteous thoughts all the time. By this time, I had been tortured so badly that I hardly had any breath left. The next day four inmates dragged me to the prison clinic, to start me on an intravenous drip. Perhaps they feared that I might die in the prison cell and felt they had to do something. I refused to let them start the intravenous feeding. They pushed me down on the bed and shackled both of my feet to the bed frame; my two hands were tied in the other direction, as if they wanted to split my body apart. They brutally inserted the intravenous drip through my feet. When one bottle of the fluid was gone, my feet no longer appeared to belong to me. Two deep bloody marks from the shackles appeared on my ankles and feet and my legs became swollen. Four inmates carried me out of the clinic holding my arms and legs. When we passed a road, a policeman from the detention center said in a vicious tone: "Throw the old thing into the pond." They forced intravenous infusions on me consecutively for three days. When their methods of torture failed and they feared I might die, they dragged my daughter, another practitioner, and myself into a truck. Later, I learned that the truck was taking us to the Labor Reformation Hospital in the Bangbu Rubber Factory. After we arrived at the hospital, we continued our hunger strike, which we had already maintained for eleven days. When the hospital staff tried to persuade us to eat, we clarified the truth to them. At the beginning, they did not understand, and mocked us. Gradually, they came to understand, and changed their views and attitudes toward us.

We stayed in the hospital for ten days. During our last few days there, the different shifts of staff members who watched us, praised us and gave us a thumbs-up. I could feel that they respected us from their hearts.

On the twenty-first day of our hunger strike, two policemen came from the city and initiated the paperwork for our release. I refused to sign my name or be fingerprinted. I said, "I am innocent, why should I be fingerprinted? I request to be released unconditionally." When they saw that their attempts to get my signature had failed, they asked my family members to sign on my behalf. Thus, we were bailed out and allowed to go home. However, four days after our release, two persons from the city police bureau, accompanied by policemen from the local police station, came to our house unannounced. Pretending to be nice, they said: "We have come to see how well you have recovered." At that time, I was drinking noodle soup. Since my hunger strike, I had not eaten anything. Another policeman said, "You seem to have recovered very well." Then, they left in a hurry.

On the morning of July 17, it was raining. A group of policemen took us to the police station. Two police cars parked in front of the police station. They pushed my daughter and me into the police cars and took us back to the detention center. Four days after our return to the detention center, on July 21, seven practitioners including my daughter and me were brought to Tianjiaan District Court for a sham trial. At that time, my daughter and I had only one thought: we could not let the evil prevail, and we could not let the unlawful trial proceed. Since I was still very weak due to my hunger strike, I collapsed after sitting in the courtroom for a long time. Then, my daughter shouted, "End the trial! End the trial! Don't you have any human feelings left?" I woke up and thought it was time to stop the trial. In spite of my condition, they even asked me if I had any objections to the accusations. My daughter and I answered in unison: "Objection! We are innocent. We only did what Dafa practitioners should do." The police told us to stop talking and asked the other practitioners the same question. When the other practitioners also raised their objections, the police stopped them from talking as well. The police gave us no chance to speak. At that moment, my daughter and I shouted the words that were in our hearts: "Falun Dafa is good! Falun Dafa is the righteous Fa! We are innocent! The Fa we study is the righteous Fa. The Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance we practice are not wrong. We strongly object to all accusations."

Many people had gathered in the court to watch, and the policemen quickly ended the trial. They asked us to sign our name and use our fingerprints to seal the court notes. We did not cooperate with them. The police could not do anything but drag us to the police car and bring us back to the detention center. When we got there, we continued our hunger strike. They force-fed my daughter again and one of her teeth was broken due to the force used in prying her teeth apart. However, my daughter never gave up. My daughter threw the tool used for keeping her mouth open into a drain when the police were not paying attention.

The next day, the police could not find the tool when they wanted to force-feed her again. The police then put her in shackles and handcuffs for several days. Later, they conducted a secret trial. Seven days after the trial, staff members from the district court came to read the sentence to us. I was sentenced to nine years, and my daughter to seven. The staff asked us if we wanted to appeal. I said: "Appeal? Did you ever give us a chance to speak in the first place? This is merely your staged show. We will never accept the accusations you forced on us." Later, I thought, I must appeal. This will be another chance to expose the evil and clarify the truth. Less than a week after the appeal, the court released the verdict maintaining the original sentences. Three days after the final verdict, the police sent us to Su County Prison. Since I am blind, the prison refused to admit me and the police had to take me back to the detention center. The police did not want to admit their failure and took me to the hospital to check on my eyes. The tests showed that I had completely lost sight in both eyes but the police insisted that I could see.

A few days later, the police sent me to Su County Prison and I was rejected again. When I returned to the detention center, I continued my hunger strike. The police bound me to a bed; my hands and feet were shackled tightly to a plank. Then, they started to pry my mouth open and force-feed me. I stayed bound to the plank for eight days. I was again tortured so brutally that I had barely a single breath left. After the first eight days, I was kept in shackles for another eight days. Now I am very weak and have to be assisted even when I use the bathroom. At my age and being completely blind, I wonder what kind of crime I would be able to commit? I was tortured so brutally and I appeal to international human rights organizations to uphold justice for me.

Bo Minghua
Practitioner from Huainan City, Anhui Province
Huainan Detention Center

Ms. Bo Mighua is 55 years old, and lived at Building No. 3, Bihaixincun, Faji District, Huainan City, Anhui Province. Her home phone number is 86-554-4972499. She and her daughter were brutally tortured and sentenced to long prison terms for practicing Falun Gong. Police tried to send her to the Suzhou Prison three times, but each time she was rejected because of her blindness. Staff at the Huainan City "610 Office" did no want to accept this and prepared a special report for the provincial leaders asking them to intervene with Suzhou Prison, so they would make an exception and admit Bo Minghua. Our sources report that Bo Minghua will be sent to prison. Currently, she is being detained in the First Detention Center in Huainan City.

(Clearwisdom.net) Liu Fengbin, male, about 50 years of age, is the policeman in charge of female Falun Gong practitioners at the Fushun Forced Labor Camp.

On May 1, 2002, in order to put an end to their persecution and leave the horrifying environment of the Forced Labor Camp as soon as possible, detained Falun Dafa practitioners began to use discarded saw blades to cut through the iron bars on their cell windows, while the police were away having a holiday. They successfully cut through three iron bars and on May 6, Falun Gong practitioner Duan Yuying jumped out first, followed by Zhuang Chuanwen and Yang Yuchen. There was a two-meter high fence, which Duan Yuying jumped over. However, policemen Liu Fengbin and Wu Wei caught Zhuang Chuanwen and Yang Yuchen before they could escape.

Zhuang Chuanwen and Yang Yuchen were taken back to the forced labor camp. Wu Wei beat Zhuang's legs to the point of severe injury, dragging her to the strictly controlled group and leaving her with police officer Liu Fengbin, who supervised the group. Liu Fengbin picked up an electric baton and shocked Ms. Zhang on the head and chin, causing those places to become swollen and generating deep blisters. Liu Fengbin asked, while shocking Ms. Zhang with the electric baton, "Tell me quickly who took the saw blades. Who else participated in this event?" Liu then turned to shock Yang Yuchen after getting no reply from Ms. Zhang.

Under the pain of the various cruel tortures, Yang Yuchen told the police what she knew.

A further round of persecution was implemented starting at midnight. The sound of a person being beaten came from the exercise yard. It was Li Li who was being beaten and shocked with electric batons while blindfolded. Li Li could not tell how many people were kicking her and how many electric batons were used to shock her, but she could tell Liu Fengbin was the cruelest among them all.

Dafa practitioner Zhang Suying was also shocked with electric batons on her face and chin by Liu Fengbin which caused deep blisters to form. Liu Fengbin even pulled up her shirt and shocked her abdomen. After beating her severely, Liu tied Zhang Suying to a chair with her hands behind her back, and kept her there through out the night.

Li Li and three other Dafa practitioners were tortured until they were barely recognizeable.

Meanwhile, every Dafa practitioner on the second floor was abused and beaten by the police. A new round of punishment began. These are the facts regarding the crimes committed by Liu Fengbin in persecuting Dafa practitioners.

Liu Fengbin was promoted and is now the supervisor for the second floor. In his job of supervising he takes all opportunities to brutalize Dafa practitioners. He beats one today and shocks another with electric batons the next day. Liu Chunmei on the second floor was beaten by him for more than twenty hours. The crackling sound of the electric baton was heard continuously. Liu Fengbin's office was turned into a torture room for him to carry out his persecution of Falun Dafa practitioners.

Liu Fengbin and several other male police guards beat Dafa practitioner Gao Juan and simultaneously shocked her with several electric batons until she was unrecognizable.

Liu Fengbin once beat an elderly practitioner to the point that blood dripped from the second floor to the first floor. Her face was beaten and badly cut. He beat many Dafa practitioners. What he used most often was the electric batons to threaten and intimidate Dafa practitioners. The methods he used in persecuting Falun Dafa were cruel and inhuman. Liu Fengbin must be brought to justice for the crimes he has committed.

On November 13, 2002, the Tianshan District People's Court in Urumqi City, Xinjiang Province sentenced Dafa practitioners Chen Dan, Shan Feng, Zhu Aiyun, Wang Xiaoli, and Wang Jing to jail terms of nine years, seven years, seven years, and five years respectively. The public prosecution body was the Urumqi City, Tianshan District People's Court (the Urumqi City, Tianshan District People's Court Verdict (2002) trial number 407).

Dafa practitioner Chen Dan, female, currently 31 years-old, was a former elementary school teacher in Hongqi Street of Changchun City, Jilin Province; Shan Feng, female, was a worker at the Daily Use Chemical Factory in Urumqi City; Zhu Aiyung, 35 years-old, was a farmer member of Regiment 183, Division 10 in Alatai City, Xinjiang Province; Wang Xiaoli, female, 29 years-old, was from Chabuchaer County of Yili City in Xinjiang Province.

In June 2001, the above-mentioned practitioners and Yuan Jiang (who was the former main Falun Gong volunteer contact person in Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, and later persecuted to death) established a Dafa website, and materials center in Urumqi City. Because they prepared truth clarification materials ready to be presented over the radio and video, as well as having verbally clarified the truth to people, they were illegally arrested and sentenced. It is known that Wang Jing was released at an earlier date. The other practitioners are jailed in the Xinjiang Female Prison (also known as Xinjiang Second Prison).

People involved in this judgment: Tianshan District People's Court Presiding Judge Lin Weihua, Judges Zhang Xintao, and Yu Keqin, and Secretary Wang Jie.

Police at the Banqiao Women's Labor Camp in Dagang District, Tianjin City spared no effort in torturing Falun Gong practitioners jailed there. In the spring of 2003, policewomen Li Wenjing and Guan Na of Team Two in Brigade Two instructed four inmates who were incarcerated for drug offenses, including Wo Juan and Wang Guohuan to drag a practitioner named Yang Fenxia to a confinement room.

Li Wenjing kicked Yang's feet and legs with her boots many times, and she also slapped Yang's face. The two policewomen also ordered the drug addict-inmates to strip Yang naked, and then use pliers to pinch her entire body. As a result, Yang's body was covered with bruises. They poured safflower oil on her genitals and pulled her hair very hard. After seven days of such torture, Yang was reduced to only skin and bones. Twenty days later, Yang was released from the confinement room. There was not much hair left on her head. The inmates said, "We've never seen anybody like her who could endure such beatings."

Lu Guangxing from Wuqing County beat practitioners most viciously. Backed up by the police, she beat practitioners Wang Chunling, Wu Yuling, Zhang Xia, Feng Yuru and others. She bit Wang Chunling; hit Wu Yuling's face with shoes and wooden sticks. As a result, Wu's face was severely swollen and she could not open her eyes. Inmates Zhao Donghong, Lin Xun and some other inmates also participated in the beatings.

In Team One of Brigade Two, police captain Gao Huachao led her accomplices to torture practitioners. She also forced practitioners to stand for long periods of time. Several times she had practitioners He Lihua, Li Jinyan, Qi Lianzhu, Dong Yuying and Sun Xiuqin stand, not allowing them to sleep or use the restrooms for five days straight.

63-year-old Sun Xiuqin used to suffer from various diseases and she was near blindness. After she practiced Falun Gong, her illnesses all went away. She was very firm in practicing Dafa. Because of her strong belief in Dafa, the local government tore down her house and took away all her belongings. They also sent her to a labor camp, where the police tortured her non-stop and also extended her term of detention without cause.

Li Huiying was an officer of the Bohai Petroleum Company Labor Union of Tanggu District, Tianjin City. Because she refused to give up her belief in Dafa, Lu Guangxing beat her hard until her face was severely swollen.

(Clearwisdom.net) The Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth Brigades of Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp in Hebei Province senselessly beat Falun Gong practitioners. To list just some of the torture methods used, they tied up practitioners with ropes, hung them by handcuffs, shocked them with electric batons and force-fed them a concentrated salt solution.

In the camp, the Falun Gong practitioners are forced to work from dawn to dusk every day. The forced labor day extends up to 15 hours. Use of a restroom is strictly controlled. In April, the camp suddenly stopped forcing Falun Gong practitioners to work; however, several days later, the guards started to torture us. At first, they talked to us one by one to make us give up practicing Falun Gong. Each of us explained how our bodies became healthier from practicing Falun Gong. They had no compelling arguments that could convince us. Then, they began to torture people. They demanded all detainees to write a guarantee letter that they would not practice Falun Gong. They said this was a camp regulation. One time, Xu Wei practiced Falun Gong exercises. The guards used a nylon rope to tie him up, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Later, the guards stipulated that Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to go to the cafeteria at mealtimes. In order to isolate us, each class only had one Falun Gong practitioner and all of the others were labor camp prisoners. Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to meet and talk to each other. The camp demanded that we be watched 24 hours a day. This kind of invisible pressure is a form of coercion. Even under such pressure, none of the nine Falun Gong practitioners in the Fourth Brigade wrote the "Four Letters" [i.e. Letter of Guarantee, Letter of Repentance, Letter of Exposure and Discrimination, Letter of Determination]. Later, the camp started an implication policy: as long as we would not write the "Four Letters", none of the labor camp prisoners would be allowed to sleep. The guards clearly knew what kind of response prisoners would have. They would definitely curse the guards, but under pressure, they would turn against the Falun Gong practitioners and vent their hatred. However, many people knew Falun Gong practitioners' kind natures and willingness to help others without thought for themselves. The practitioners' behavior left a good impression on the prisoners' hearts, so they were hesitant and did not want to hurt them. The guards continued to put pressure on them and offered to decrease their prison terms as an incentive. They were very exhausted after a long day of hard labor. At night, they and the Falun Gong practitioners were not allowed to sleep until the practitioners wrote the "Four Letters" and renounced their belief. The guards told the labor camp prisoners, "do not beat them to death" when beating Falun Gong practitioners. The words sounded like a warning but were actually a suggestion.

Under such conditions, some prisoners really started to beat up the practitioners. The guards gave them approval and rewards: they may only "work" on Falun Gong practitioners during the daytime and do not need to go out to do forced labor. However, the guards continued to put pressure on those who did not put pressure on the practitioners. The pressure at that time was really cruel. Some prisoners decided not to regard us as human beings. They cursed us and brutally beat us at will.

The prisoners and the practitioners only had rest for two or three hours each day. Several days later, the guards gathered us together in a room and assigned personnel to watch us. We were forced to face the wall while standing still for long periods of time. We were not allowed to move, talk or close our eyes. After we were tortured for two days and two nights in this way, practitioners Liu Lihui and Zhang Jianbo went on a hunger strike to protest the inhumane torture and persecution. The guards did not repent but became more aggressive and shouted ferociously: "If any one of you dares to go on a hunger strike, we will just force feed you." At that time, the guards took away the two practitioners, hung them up and handcuffed them on the upper rail of an iron bunk bed, which made it hard for their toes to touch the floor. At the same time, they force fed the prisoners three or four times. The people in charge of the forced feeding were not medical personnel but guards and prisoners without any medical knowledge. They tied or handcuffed practitioners to the bed. Many people pressed the practitioners down and inserted rubber tubes as wide as chopsticks through their nostrils and into their stomachs. Even for medical personnel, it requires experience to know whether they are inserting into the esophagus or into the trachea. It is very dangerous to insert the tube into the trachea. They did not regard Falun Gong practitioners' safety at all. They just inserted the tubes, removed them and inserted them again in order to torture the practitioners. However, practitioners were tortured in order to make them throw up. Their esophagi were injured badly. When the tube was inserted into the trachea, they were choked and coughed ceaselessly. What was fed to them was highly concentrated saline solution. The other Falun Gong practitioners were also hung and handcuffed to the iron bars of the window inside the classroom with their toes barely touching the floor.

Liu Lihui and Zhang Jianbo were always hung and handcuffed to the iron bars during the four days of their hunger strike. They suffered a lot. Later, they did not have any physical strength left. Liu Lihui said he would stop the hunger strike. But the guards said the cafeteria did not prepare food for him and continued to force feed him. During that period, Lou Kuanfeng was pulled to the office, stripped of his shirt and tied with a rope. He was shocked with an electric baton until the baton was out of electricity. Mr. Lou's skin was burned in many places. There was the smell of flesh burning in the air. He was tortured to the point of only being able to breathe feebly. Since he was hung up by handcuffs for such a long time and could only touch the floor with his toes, his feet were swollen and he could not lift one of them.

Shijiazhuang City Dafa Practitioners Tao Hongsheng and Wang Hongbin were tortured to death by the Second Brigade of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp. Currently, more than 20 Dafa practitioners have been detained there. According to reliable information, Wang Shengbiao, a Shijiazhuang City Dafa practitioner who was secretly arrested at the beginning of August 2003 was secretly sentenced to three years' forced labor in January 2004. He is being detained in the Second Brigade of the Shijiazhuang City Forced Labor Camp, which is located in the northwest corner of the intersection between the northern part of the belt highway and the Southern Gaoji Road in Shijiazhuang City. Currently, one of Wang's legs lost all feeling and he cannot walk. He is very weak. The guards do not allow his family to visit him. As soon as Wang Shengbiao arrived at the camp, he was not allowed to sleep for five days and five nights. If he closed his eyes, the vicious people would just beat him. When they saw he did not compromise, they forced him to squat for more than 20 hours (i.e. you are neither allowed to sit down nor stand up, which makes people really suffer). The chief of the guards saw that he would not sign the so-call "four letters", so he told the prisoners to brutally beat Wang Shengbiao again.

We sincerely call on all just people to pay attention to Wang Shengbiao's case. His life, as well as all of the detained Falun Gong practitioners' lives, are in danger. Please stand up to condemn such inhumane outrages and demand the unconditional release of Wang Shengbiao and all of the kind and innocent Falun Gong practitioners.

(Clearwisdom.net) Manchuri City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region is a border city with a small population. The detention center in this small city has illegally detained many Falun Dafa practitioners. The detention center management has ignored the rules prohibiting holding detainees past their original sentences and has held many Dafa practitioners for more than a year, longer than the time legally allowed.

The officials of the city have also held brainwashing sessions in the detention center, forcing detained Dafa practitioners to write guarantees that they would give up practicing Falun Dafa. The detention center ordered silk appreciation banners to be made for themselves, and forced Dafa practitioner to present the banners to the management of the detention center on a TV news program, claiming that all the detained Dafa practitioners were "transformed" [that they had renounced Falun Dafa]. The fact is that those Dafa practitioners who were videotaped for the propaganda broadcast were soon after sent to forced labor camps. Two elderly Dafa practitioners, Mr. Liu Shuqing and Mr. Xing Jun, are two of those who were sent to labor camps after a year in the detention center.

After Liu Shuqing was sent to the forced labor camp, his daughter and son-in-law were both arrested. Xing Jun's wife had previously suffered a stroke and recovered. However, the news of Xing Jun being sentenced caused her stroke symptoms to recur and she completely lost her capacity for taking care of herself. The former coordinator of the Manchuri City Falun Gong practice site, Li Xiaoqiu, suffered a mental collapse due to the persecution he experienced in the forced labor camp, and he has not yet recovered.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Shuying went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention, and suffered from brutal force-feeding. Her husband, Yuan Guisheng, not a Falun Gong practitioner, was also detained for more than half year. Her daughter-in-law was under house arrest during the period when she was breastfeeding her baby. Dafa practitioner Ms. Miao Jingli was detained for refusing to give up practicing Falun Dafa. Dafa practitioner Mr. Peng Shouqing is in his 70s and was detained for more than a year. Dafa practitioners Zhang Shanfu and Zhang Wenqian lost almost all of their teeth due to the torture they suffered during their detention. Dafa practitioners Zhang Yu and Xing Shuguang, a couple, were both arrested at the same time and are now forced to live away from home to avoid further persecution. Dafa practitioner Gao Demei was brutally tortured during interrogation. Dafa practitioner Chen Zaiguang was arrested and afterwards was forced to live away from home to avoid further persecution. Dafa practitioner Zhao Yugang was arrested and brutally tortured; later he was sent to the Wanjia Forced Labor Camp, where he suffered vicious abuses that caused him to lose the ability to walk. Dafa practitioner Liu Hanxiang was arrested several times and his high-school-age son was arrested also; they were forced to live away from home to avoid further persecution. Many other Dafa practitioners, including Wang Guijie and Huang Dehua were also detained several times.

When the police went to Dafa practitioner Meng Guiying's home to arrest her, nobody was at home to answer the door. The police then jumped over the fence and broke into her home. Later, they arrested Ms. Meng. She went on a hunger strike to protest the illegal detention and was force-fed. During force-feeding, the police accidentally inserted the feeding tube into her lung, causing a serious infection. Even when Ms. Meng was in critical condition, the police would not release her until her family paid a 5,000 yuan fine [500 yuan is equal to the average monthly salary of an urban worker in China]. Her family immediately sent Ms. Meng to the hospital for emergency treatment, but it was too late to save her life.

Falun Dafa practitioner Xi Shujun was arrested for refusing to participate in brainwashing classes. She was detained in the detention center for half a year. During the detention, Ms. Xi's health deteriorated, yet the police refused to grant her parole for medical treatment. Ms. Xi went on a hunger strike to protest. The detention center granted her parole, fearing a repeat of Ms. Meng's tragedy. Three months later, Ms. Xi was arrested again and sent to a force labor camp.

The above are just a small number of the many cases of persecution suffered by Falun Dafa practitioners in Manchuri City.

(Clearwisdom.net) On April 7, 2004, William Ryan, Chairman of Board of Legislator, and George Latimer, Legislator, Westchester County, New York, presented a proclamation to Falun Gong practitioners. Mr. Erping Zhang, spokesman of Falun Gong, accepted the proclamation on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners, and spoke at the ceremony to expressing his gratitude for the proclamation. Representatives of Falun Gong practitioners from New York State and Westchester County presented at the ceremony and expressed thanks to the Board of Legislators. Below is the proclamation.

Whereas, Throughout its history, Westchester County has been fortunate to have men and women who give of their time and talent for the betterment of the community, and

Whereas, Falun Gong is a peaceful and nonviolent form of personal belief and practice with million of adherents in the People's Republic of China and elsewhere in the world, and

Whereas, The government of the People's Republic of China has forbidden Falun Gong practitioners to practice their belief and has systematically attempted to eradicate the practice and those who follow it, and

Whereas, This policy violates the Constitution of the People's Republic of China as well as the international covenant of civil and political rights and the universal declaration of human rights, and

Whereas, the campaign of persecution has been reported to include torture and other atrocities, with United States citizens subjected to arbitrary detention and imprisonment, and such campaign is carried out by officials at all levels, and has permeated to every segment of society and every level of government in the People's Republic of China. Resolved, That the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and all harassment of citizens and residents of the United States who practice Falun Gong should cease, And, Be It Further

I wish I could convey my deep anxiety to you. I felt distress and anger when I read about the few brief and particular cases you mentioned in your letter. At the same time, I sincerely wish that the Falun Gong practitioners' difficult situation can be improved and solved as soon as possible.

(Clearwisdom.net, April 14, 2004) During the 60th Human Rights Conference at the UN, Falun Gong and the NGO "International Education Development" held a forum together, the theme of which was "Chinese State Terrorism: The Persecution of Falun Gong."

The forum was held on March 31, 2004. Renowned human rights lawyer Karen Parker hosted the forum. She began by pointing out that when speaking of terrorism, people often think of radical people who operate in other countries using terrorist means such as assassination, explosions and so on to cause hundreds of thousands civilian casualties and deaths, in order to force the other side to surrender. People often ignore another type of terrorism, which is state terrorism operated by a country's government. In fact, research by commissioners in charge of studying terrorism at the UN pointed out that the horrors caused to human beings by state terrorism is many times greater than that caused by non-state terrorism.

Attorney Karen Parker further pointed out that, "At present, the most brutal state terrorism is the persecution of Falun Gong perpetrated by the Chinese Government. Before 1999, Falun Gong was popular in China and there were tens of millions practitioners. Therefore, when the Chinese government (Jiang's Regime) started to persecute Falun Gong in July 1997, huge numbers of people were involved. Our organisation was concerned by the suffering from the beginning and helped Falun Gong practitioners to appeal to the United Nations. We saw that this persecution had resulted in hundreds of thousand of people being illegally arrested and brutally punished, and thousand of people being tortured to death." Many UN human rights commissioners condemned the Chinese government. The persecution of Falun Gong was extensively reported, and it was pointed out that the cases of Falun Gong practitioners' human rights being violated were so many that they have been far beyond the management capability of the UN human rights mechanism. The lawyer also said, "Today, our forum wants to make sure that everyone knows about the state terrorism against Falun Gong in China, and help to stop this persecution."

Next, Dr. Chen Shizhong, working in Falun Gong's human rights team, explained that such brutal state terrorism actually aims to destroy human conscience by forcing people to go against their own conscience. The worst thing about this is that it forms a vicious circle: the more people that give up their conscience, the more legitimate this crime becomes.

Chen Shizhong further explained that this persecution of conscience is the substance that the Chinese government uses to persecute Falun Gong. Falun Gong practitioners do not participate in politics, but only try to cultivate themselves to become good people. This inward cultivation will certainly lead to the upgrading of morality, courage and universal compassion. This is what the evil fears and wants to persecute. The goal and means of the Chinese government's persecution of Falun Gong also clearly manifests this point.

What is the goal of the Jiang regime's persecution of Falun Gong? Jiang said he would eradicate Falun Gong and force all those who practise it to renounce their belief. This cannot be more obvious and states clearly that forcing Falun Gong practitioners to give up their own choices and violate their own conscience is the fundamental goal of this persecution. That is to say, the true motive is to cruelly kill the conscience.

The forms that this persecution takes are the most vile. The worst massacre is genocide and this is acknowledged internationally. Its goal is to destroy people's physical bodies and its result is a large number of deaths. However, the Jiang regime's cruel slaughter of Falun Gong practitioners is even more sinister. Its goal is not to wipe out the physical bodies (although the slaughter does not care about the number of innocent deaths), but to force the sufferers to choose the death of either the physical body or the spirit - to destroy the sufferers' will and make them give up their own consciences and dignity.

Therefore, to torture victims to the brink of death is a necessary means of this massacre. The brutal policemen publicly tell Falun Gong practitioners that they will make them no longer want to live. Their only way out? To say Falun Gong is not good, "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" is not good, and express gratitude for the government's salvation. Telling the truth will mean murder but if they tell lies they will be allowed to survive!

Chen Shizhong finished by saying that what the Chinese government wants to destroy is not only the victims' conscience. When those policemen are ordered to cruelly beat their fellow man, to vent their beastly desires on their fellow women, to be hoodwinked by the deceitful propaganda which is causing this hatred aren't they also being destroyed to the point of no humanity?

Ms. Chen Ying, now studying in France, was imprisoned three times and shared her experience at the conference about being tortured and brainwashed while in prison. Her speech caused many people to shed tears. She said, "The torture and inhuman treatment of Falun Gong practitioners by policemen is widespread and serious. While in prison, the first thing they have to do is take off all of their clothes in public and have iced water poured all over them. Everyone has to go through this severe routine, including menstruating women. This may cause them to later have problems when giving birth, but the policemen don't care."

She talked about her experience of being injected with harmful medicine: "They handcuffed me to the window and forcibly injected the medicine into my left arm. When the medicine got into my bloodstream, I felt severe pain in my heart, then my heartbeat sped up and beat severely. Every heartbeat felt like it would cause my heart to explode. After that, I clearly felt that I was having difficulty thinking. My reactions and memory became dull. My left side also twitched frequently and the twitching became more and more fierce. What we were fed in jails and labour camps may have had medicines mixed in. The food smelled strange. After eating it we would feel like throwing up and become very drowsy. In addition, there were brutal beatings and torture. Once they beat me so badly so that the prisoners who took part in beating me cried and asked the policemen stop beating me."

"In the labour camps we were forced to work extremely intensely. We worked until midnight everyday, making products for Nestle Coffee and other companies. We were not allowed to sleep if we did not achieve the target. The temperature was very high during the summer and some practitioners fainted because of excessive exhaustion. Some got hypertension, some got heart disease and some were so tired that they had convulsions. We had to say "Report, yes" loudly when going in and out of the jail cells. If the sound wasn't loud enough, we would be punished by being forced to shout 100 times at the wall. We had to lift our legs up to a 90 degree angle while walking and then stamp down with all our strength. While eating, we had to kneel down on the ground, hold the bowl over our head and shout loudly, "Report to the leader, prisoner XXX asks to have his meal."

"There were times for washing in the morning and at night. There was only five minutes each time. It wasn't possible to clean up in such short time. Because eating, drinking, urinating and sleeping took place in the same room, mosquitoes and flies were everywhere. In such a filthy environment, we packaged chopsticks. Although the wrapper indicated that they were disinfected, actually the whole operation was unhygienic. We didn't our wash hands before we picked up the chopsticks, which frequently fell on the ground, and wrapped them. Now many small restaurants and big hotels even still use these extremely dirty chopsticks, and allegedly these chopsticks were exported."

Many female practitioners were usually pushed outside; all of their clothes were taken off and they stood outside for a long period of time. In winter, some practitioners were forced to freeze outside until they lost consciousness. During the long-term tribulations, I finally reached the limit of my endurance. I signed a guarantee that I would not practise the exercises. The pain of giving up one's own belief and being transformed is unable to be described by words. The next day I cried all day long.

With some kind hearted people's help, I eventually left China. I often ask myself: I only want to follow the standard of "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance" to be a good person but they forced me to change from a respectable person to an accomplice who persecuted my fellow practitioners. It is Falun Gong that will save me once again. It gives me the courage to face all of this. No matter how depressed I am, I know the peace and the pure land of "Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance" can soothe my mind. Now that I am finally a Falun Gong practitioner again, I know what happiness and good fortune really is.

In the forum, Ms. Dai Zhizhen talked about her husband who was tortured to death in a brainwashing class in a Chinese jail.

During question time, two people were sent by Jiang's regime, pretending that they were from an NGO. They wanted to use this opportunity to defame Falun Gong. However, they did not succeed. Actually, the evil ones fear that the world's people will come to understand the truth and they use all opportunties to prevent this. During the preparation time before the conference, representatives of Jiang's policies tried to bribe the guards and staff and hamper the conference's preparation so that the conference couldn't start on time. The Falun Gong practitioners who attended the conference questioned the obstructers: why did they not allow us get into the conference on time? Why did they not go to other conferences' entrance but only stay here? Is it because Chinese problems are discussed here? Is it because the persecution of Falun Gong is discussed here? People who were questioned couldn't answer, but still blocked the doorway. Many attendees were blocked in the hallway and in the lobby. At this time a Falun Gong practitioner came and questioned an obstructer: "What on earth is the relationship between you and the Chinese Government?" The obstructers who heard this stood still like statues. The practitioner pushed the door and entered, and people attending the conference were able to get in. The obstructors still attempted to block the doorway during the conference. A practitioner detected the situation and stood at the door to prevent their pathetic tricks.

(Clearwisdom.net, April 13, 2004) Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Mao came from Missouri to participate in this New York Chinatown parade. She told a Clearwisdom.net reporter, "I saw many Chinese initially were reluctant or fearful to accept Falun Gong fliers. A restaurant owner was presented with a flier. He took it and then gave it to his Mexican employee right away. However, when the float containing real people modeling the torture methods arrived, people were shocked and their hearts were deeply touched, many of them couldn't help extend their hands to take fliers from practitioners' hands.

As shown in the photo above, from July, 1999 to April 10, 2004, at least 936 Falun Gong practitioners have been persecuted to death. The death cases spread among more than 30 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the jurisdiction of the Central Government. According to news from Clearwisdom.net, up to April 12, 2004, the number of death cases follows the following order: Heilongjiang, Jilin, Shandong, Liaoning, Hebei, Hubei and Sichuan. Among the people who have been persecuted to death, women consist of about 48%, elders from 50 to 70 years-old consist of about 26.5%.

Throughout China, at least 6000 Falun Gong practitioners have been illegally sentenced to prison terms, over 100,000 practitioners have been sentenced to forced labor camps. Thousands of practitioners have been forcibly sent to psychiatric hospitals to be tortured with injections that are damaging to the central nervous system. Large groups of Falun Gong practitioners have been forcibly sent to local brainwashing classes, where they have been subjected to both physical and mental torture. Many more practitioners have been severely beaten and had large sums of money extorted from them by so-called "law-enforcement officials." Falun Gong practitioners who have been illegally arrested, regardless of their age and gender, in general have been subjected to torture such as beatings and handcuffed or shackled for extended periods in police stations and labor camps.

As illustrated in the photo above, torture methods such as extended forced sitting on the tiger bench, high voltage electric baton shocking, hung up and beating are often used to coerce practitioners to give up their belief in Falun Gong.

In the photo above, Ms. Chen is demonstrating a torture method. She is from Mainland China and is a musician. She worked in the famous Central Symphony Orchestra of China for 33 years till she retired. After the persecution was launched by Jiang Zemin in 1999, she was arrested for appealing to the central government for Falun Gong.

Her son Chen Gang was a logistic manager at Carlsberg Brewery in Beijing. Mrs. Chen said, "At midnight on June 25, 2000, a dozen policemen broke into our home and arrested me and my son without giving any explanation. I was detained for 30 days and my son was sent to the notorious Tuanhe Forced Labor Camp located in a suburb of Beijing, where he experienced the darkest 18 months of his life.

"In order to force my son to give up his belief, the policemen applied many cruel tortures on him. They only allowed him to sleep 2 to 4 hours a day. Once they deprived his sleep for 15 days. Whenever he closed eyes, they would kick him and punch him.

"The policemen also used several high voltage electric batons to shock sensitive places such as head, neck and chest. The skin was burned and his whole body convulsed from the electric shock. His entire body felt like he was burning in a fire or being bitten by poisonous snakes. Once the policeman directed over ten criminal inmates to beat him up until his face was unrecognizeable. After they beat him up, they tied his legs and feet tightly, and his arms were tied behind his back. Then the criminal inmates tied his neck tightly to his legs so that it almost suffocated him. After they tied up him, they shoved him under a wooden bed and had more and more people sit on top to press down his back. He felt his bones nearly crack. After this torture, he couldn't walk for two weeks. Another practitioner Lu Changjun suffered the same torture and he became paralyzed.

"My son experienced this simply because he practiced Falun Gong, an exercise which brought him good health, a happy life, and taught him to be a good person. And because he insisted his belief in Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance."

These pictures show another torture device known as a "Small Cell". In a long humiliating punishment, Falun Gong practitioners were locked inside this type of wire cage, both hands are handcuffed to the cage sides, and the cage is so small that one cannot stand up. The police use this high strength physical torture to break practitioners' mind and force them to give up their belief in "Truthfulness Compassion Tolerance".

(Clearwisdom.net) On Thursday, April 8, Chinese human rights groups and Chinese human rights activists held a rally in front of the United Nations in New York City. They are calling on the world body to support a U.S. draft resolution urging China to allow investigations of reports that it is repressing freedom of expression and religion.

According to a report from Times of Tibet on April 9, Alliance to Oppose Persecution in China (ATOPIC), an NGO based in New York hosted the gathering. There were as many as sixty different organizations gathered together voicing against the violation of Human
Rights by the Chinese government. Participating organizations included Global Coalition to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice, Committee for Investigation Persecutions of Religion in China, Chinese Democracy Alliance, Taiwan Association of America, Transitional Radical Party and Activist in Democracy.

Voice of America also reported the event. It said that several hundred people gathered in front of the United Nations to show their support for the resolution, which the United States has presented to the U.N. Human Rights Commission in Geneva.

The report quoted Mr. Haiying He, one of the rally's organizers, who pointed out that condemning China's human rights violations is a top priority, followed by a call for the release of religious and political prisoners. He added, "Number two is to call for immediate release of all those millions of persecuted Falun Gong practitioners, underground church members, Tibetans, democracy activists who are imprisoned or tortured or persecuted because of their conscience."

According to the VOA report, human rights advocates say China is persecuting its citizens based on their religious and political beliefs.

According to the VOA report, Yufeng Liang, another rally organizer, feels demonstrations like these give hope to those persecuted in China. "Here we give encouragement for people in China fighting for democracy and also for those people persecuted," he said. "They will see so many people support them, to help rescue them and also we will let more and more people know the persecution in China."

The 53-member U.N. human rights commission will decide this week whether to vote on the draft resolution.

(Clearwisdom.net) During the 60^th United Nations Human Rights Commission session, Falun Gong practitioners in Boston and several organizations gathered in Harvard Square to expose the true situation of human rights in China.

Dr. John Jaw, president of the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) revealed a series of reports entitled "On Products Made by Illegally Detained Falun Gong Practitioners' Slave Labor in Forced Labor Camps in Mainland China." These reports point out that many forced labor camp inmates in Mainland China participated in the production of goods made by slave labor and made tremendous profits by exploiting detainees. These products include toy rabbits, Zhenglin brand watermelon seeds and disposable chopsticks. These products are cheap and they have great economic impact when dumped onto the international market. Dr. Jaw quoted a Falun Gong practitioner who was unlawfully detained at the Shuangkou Labor Camp in Tianjin City as saying,

"The camp police arranged for me to package chopsticks into paper wrappers or make vegetarian shish kabobs. Many detained practitioners in the food processing plant had contracted scabies, and some even had yellowish pus oozing out of the blisters on their fingers. Without the use of gloves, the pus contaminated the food and the chopsticks. The forced labor camp pays no attention to the well-being of the detained practitioners. They also ignore the health issues of the consumers! Obviously, the camp products are not sanitary."

WOIPFG invited Dr. He Haiying, president of the Global Mission to Rescue Persecuted Falun Gong Practitioners to speak. He pointed out that in the past several months, the Chinese Ruling Party released a few dissidents and wrote the phrase, "respect and uphold human rights" into the constitution, while it continued to arrest and persecute innocent people. The arrest and persecution of Falun Gong practitioners has never stopped.

Ms. Li Guangzhen, the mother of New York resident Xiao Jin, Ms. Qiu Yanyan, the sister of Philadelphia resident Qiu Qingqing, Ms. Fan Weihuang, mother of Maryland resident Fan Yagu, Ms. Zhang Jun, sister of New York resident Zhang Wei and Ms. Li Chiyue, niece of Zhang Wei are illegally detained in camps and are being tortured.

According to Dr. He, three Falun Gong practitioners in Massachusetts have family members who are illegally detained and are deprived of human rights.

The sister of Mr. Liang Yufeng who lives in Peabody has been held at Maoming City's "Legal School" [a brainwashing center] for more than four years, during which time she was not allowed to meet with her family. The mother of Mr. Wu Tie, a resident of Waltham City, has been detained at the Guizhou Female Labor Camp for two-and-half years. Dr. He's mother, sister and brother were unconstitutionally sent to labor camps and prisons. His 32-year-old brother who is also a physician was sentenced to ten years in prison for refusing to give up Dafa practice and is currently being held at Chongqing Prison.

Dr. He concluded by telling the audience that so far, over 60 human rights organizations around the world have signed a NGO resolution to be delivered to the United Nations. This resolution condemns China's human rights persecution and calls for the release of all detained and persecuted Falun Gong practitioners, Christians, Tibetans and Buddhists, dissidents, human rights advocates and other people who are "guilty by conscience." It also calls for the international community and the UN to pass related resolutions to condemn human rights violations and urge real improvements in human rights conditions in China. A global alliance against human rights abuses is forming and growing.

Dr. Wei Pengfei, a spokesman for the Global Alliance to Bring Jiang Zemin to Justice told the story of a 72-year-old church leader recently being beaten in prison until both legs broke; three mothers of Tiananmen Massacre victims were arrested for writing to the UN and 35-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Xudong was tortured until his hair turned white within 53 days and he died.

These cases show that the human rights conditions in China are worsening. Jiang Zemin, the current head of the Chinese military forces and also the head criminal responsible for the persecution, is being charged with genocide in many countries.

Mr. Chen Du, head of the Friends of Hong Kong and Macao Association of Boston, Xie Zhongzhi, one of the people in charge of China Democracy Long March Foundation of Boston, Erik Meltzer, spokesman for Society of Life and Science Exploration in New England, Chen Zhiqiang, person in charge of the Boston Foreign Language Institute and representatives from The Press of Overseas Chinese Students. Mr. Xu Wenli, the person in charge of Paying Attention to the Human Rights in China, and Mr. Wang Xingai, person in charge of Love of Foundation of Taiwan were unable to attend the meeting but sent their videos and written speeches.

According to the report in CHAM, a German newspaper, unbelievable things have happened on the streets of China since July 1999. Countless people were arrested across the country for practicing a peaceful traditional meditation exercise. Bulldozers piled up thousands and thousands of books, video and audiotapes and policemen set them on fire. This is what Falun Gong wants to tell you. To clarify the truth and to help people learn more about Falun Gong, Falun Gong practitioners held a photo exhibition at the university.

Falun Gong (Falun Dafa) is a Qigong exercise and has a long history in China. It also has many practitioners in the west. Since Mr. Li Hongzhi started teaching Falun Dafa in 1992, it has grown to about one hundred million practitioners worldwide. This cultivation practice has five sets of health-benefiting exercises. Its principles are "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance."

Jiang Zemin, the former Chairman of China, banned the exercise. If someone admits practicing Falun Gong, he may lose his job, be tortured physically and mentally, even to death. The death cases were categorized as "accidents" or "suicides." It was said that one fourth of the nation's resources is spent on eliminating this movement.

With the support of many ethnic groups, international help and human rights organizations, representatives of western countries are more and more concerned with this problem. Amnesty International calls for an end of the inhuman treatment of Falun Gong practitioners. Lawsuits have been filed against the Chinese leaders responsible for the persecution. Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world continue to go to appeal in China, even under tremendous risk.

Besides their weekly exercise class at the People's School and introduction to Falun Gong and signature collection in front of the City Hall, Min Teng-Schwager organized a photo exhibit, "Falun Gong -- A Peaceful Journey." More than forty photos tell the history of the Falun Gong movement, its spread since 1992 and protests against the persecution all over the world.

Falun Gong started worldwide photo exhibits in 2001. The first photo exhibit in Germany was held in Berlin, followed by Wuppertal and Marburg. These photos are now on display at the People's School from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. It has been supported by Amnesty International and the International Human Rights Association.

According the report in CHAM on Feb. 28, the People's School will host a photo exhibit "Falun Gong - A Peaceful Journey" starting from March 1. It will provide a good opportunity for you to review the twelve-year journey of Falun Dafa. Visitors will learn about the Chinese cultivation practice taught by the most popular Qigong master, Mr. Li Hongzhi and about the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Within a few years, Falun Gong attracted 70 million people with its principles of "Truthfulness, Compassion and Forbearance." It was banned in China in 1999, but it has gained more and more popularity in western countries. Washington, D.C., the capital of the U.S., recognized Falun Gong with "Falun Dafa Week" for the week of Aug. 9.

Reports revealed that Falun Gong practitioners under persecution in China have been cruelly tortured, sent to forced labor camps and beaten. More than 925 Falun Dafa practitioners have died from the persecution, mostly from torture.

(Clearwisdom.net) Our area suffered rather serious persecution over the past five years. Almost all Dafa practitioners who steadfastly and uprightly protect Dafa have been sent to forced labor camps. Local township government and police station authorities arrested, searched the homes of, fined, tortured and sent Dafa practitioners for extended periods to brainwashing centers and forced labor camps. This created serious obstacles and damaged local truth clarification work.

During October 2003, after Teacher made comments regarding an article that discussed publicly exposing those people who committed crimes against Dafa in the local community, we discussed such activities among local practitioners. We realized that to expose such local degenerate people would be an opportunity to save more sentient beings. Teacher's comments also helped us determine ways to clarify the truth of the persecution of Falun Dafa to those Chinese people whose minds have been poisoned by Jiang's propaganda.

Between the New Year and the Chinese New Year, Dafa practitioners wrote many letters advising local township government officials and police officers to stop committing crimes against Falun Dafa and to awaken their conscience. During that time practitioners communicated frequently with each other. In working together, practitioners were able to put together truth clarification materials that included a listing of the crimes committed by local officers in their persecution of Dafa practitioners, letters to the public, stories about the popularity of Falun Dafa around the world and the fact of Jiang Zemin being sued in many countries. We sent these letters to thousands of families, including the township governments and police stations. These activities to explain the facts of the persecution of Falun Dafa changed us from passively enduring the persecution to uncompromisingly going forward. Many people who read the materials changed their views about Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners. Many said, "it seems the day when Falun Dafa will be redressed is getting closer. Your Teacher is really great to have disciples as brave and fearless with the ability to bear hardships as you."

These plain words showed the effects of the long-term efforts of local Dafa practitioners.

The following are my thoughts on exposing local persecutors to public in their communities:

1) We exposed the facts of cruel and inhumane torture methods used against Dafa practitioners to the public in the local communities that had been covered up by local authorities in their persecution of Dafa practitioners. People who learned the facts could relate to this, as these were cruelties perpetrated by the authorites, who were people they knew and not some distant figure. Therefore, the local people understood clearly the tortures and abuses that were occurring around them in the places they live and work.

2) Stopping local authorities who persecuted Dafa practitioners - After reading the truth clarification materials, some police officers who persecuted Dafa practitioners showed self restraint and ceased their persecution activities to various extents, some apologized to practitioners and some even changed their jobs. We found that fewer and fewer people tore down Dafa posters and materials which were put up by practitioners in public places to explain the facts of the persecution against Falun Dafa.

Packages containing materials that explained the facts of the persecution were sent directly to the officers in various local government offices and police stations. In some cases, materials were delivered in person, or practitioners visited their offices and talked to them in person.

3) More fellow practitioners became active in doing truth clarification and Fa-rectification work during this process. Practitioners made progress together as one body. Some practitioners who were brainwashed in the forced labor camp into renouncing their belief in Dafa changed visibly. Some quickly returned to practice Falun Dafa, took part in activities to clarify the truth, and searched for ways to make up for the losses they caused. Solemn declarations were continuously published on the Internet declaring their words and actions against Dafa were coerced and completely invalid. Some former practitioners resumed their group study of the Falun Dafa teachings, practicing Falun Dafa exercises and sending forth righteous thoughts. More and more people asked for truth clarification materials. The environment changed for the better during this period.

4) Let's look at the Fa-rectification work from the Dafa point of view. Cooperation is very important during Fa-rectification work. If we cooperate well, then those who try to cause us harm will not be able to do so. A God's actions are selfless. They guard the righteous laws of the universe while human beings are selfish and put their own wishes above those of others.

If one does Fa-rectification work with a human mindset, things will not go smoothly. If we purify ourselves and do everything with a pure mind, miracles will happen. Some practitioners clarified the truth wherever the persecution was most rampant and returned to their homes safely. Some practitioners walked about 30 kilometers in less than two hours to deliver Dafa truth clarification materials. As long as we are within and act in accordance with Dafa we can accomplish anything.

I shared experiences with fellow practitioners of other areas. In some areas, practitioners did not pay enough attention to exposing the crimes of local perpetrators who persecuted Falun Dafa practitioners. Others did nothing mostly out of fear. Some practitioners who suffered cruel torture have yet to write an account of the crimes committed against them, so the truth will come to light. They are waiting for the external environment to change. This has allowed the perpetrators of evil to do even more damage, while sentient beings that are waiting for us to save them still do not know the truth.

I suggest fellow practitioners start exposing crimes committed by the authorites to local people immediately. No waiting, no expecting others to do it for you or waiting for external changes! It's our duty to create the local Fa-rectification environment. When we do things with a pure and unselfish mind, we save more sentient beings and those who commit crimes against Falun Dafa will have nowhere to hide.

(Clearwidom.net) Teacher Li tells us in the article "Master's New Year's Day 2004 Greeting to Dafa Disciples" that, "For the sake of all living things, for the sake of validating Dafa, stay diligent on the path to godhood!" After reading the article repeatedly, I thought about some words and sentences that my fellow practitioners and I have said that don't conform to Dafa's standards: "Look at those everyday people who are stubborn and refuse to change and oppose Dafa. Just let whatever will happen to them happen!" I also heard some practitioners when clarifying the truth to their families say that, "I have told you but you refuse to listen to me. In the future when I achieve consummation and return to my original position, let's see what you can do!" In fact, we can understand that when Dafa practitioners clarify the truth to their families, they have good intentions towards their families, and they just could not maintain their character at that time. But this is still an irrational action caused by everyday people's attachment to emotion and will bring negative effects.

Teacher Li mentioned in Fa-lectures many times that Dafa creates different environments for beings in different realms. Everyday people's society is also the manifestation of Buddha Law at the lowest level and family is the basic unit of human activities. All of these are the forms of human beings that gods in the cosmos created according to karma. Family is also a kind of environment in which Dafa disciples clarify the truth and we should not let everyday people's irrational behavior manifest in Dafa practitioners. In family, we should follow the standards of speaking in family. Teacher Li said in the chapter of "Cultivation of Speech" in Lecture Eight in Zhuan Falun,

In family we should not mention those kinds of words like "I can leave here and you cannot go," etc. Otherwise, this will not show everyday people the meaning of cultivation in a righteous path. That is a manifestation of some deeply hidden human attachments. If we let everyday people develop some misunderstandings about Dafa such as "You cultivate and you will leave, and thus your family in everyday people's society is broken," then aren't we also discrediting Dafa to a certain degree?

Dafa disciples have to take the righteous path of a high standard in their family and should help other members of the family see the beauty of Falun Dafa from you. If we can take the righteous path, then in this world not only 100 million Dafa practitioners could benefit from Dafa, and it will be 200 or 300 million or even more people who will also benefit. I think that how to speak in the family seems to be a small thing, but it is not small. Teacher Li tells practitioners to be "full of great aspirations while minding minor details." ("Sage" in Falun Dafa Essentials For Further Advancement) From Teacher Li's new article, my understanding is that the path we need to take is "the path to godhood," and we cannot take this path if we carry any human attachments.

(Clearwisdom.net) I am 50 years old and a retired worker. My family lives on Hanzhengjie Street, Hankou City, Wuhan, Hubei Province. In November 2002, I was hospitalized for chronic kidney failure, renal anemia, and uremia. One month of hospitalization cost me more than 10,000 yuan [500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income for an urban worker in China]. Because the cost went far beyond my ability to pay, and even though my illness did not show any obvious improvement, I had to leave the hospital. After I went back home, I tried to borrow money from here and there to treat my illness. I visited the most famous uremia specialists and I had to take a medical injection every other day; each injection cost me almost 100 yuan. If I skipped any injections, I would fall completely unconscious and lie in bed practically comatose; my eyesight was vague and it felt like my eyes were covered with something. It cost me over 1,500 yuan per month for the injections and for the other Traditional Chinese Medicines I had to take. In the long run, I couldn't afford to treat my illness. Moreover, the illness is considered incurable by medical means. I clearly understood that I did not have many days left to live.

On March 12, 2003, when I was painfully despairing, a neighbor told me, "Your illness may be healed if you practice Falun Gong." When she saw me still not completely convinced, she called and invited an elderly lady in her 60s to my home. The elderly lady told me her personal experience of having her stomach cancer healed by practicing Falun Gong.

Since then, whenever I was conscious, I would pick up the book Zhuan Falun [the principal teachings of Falun Dafa] and read it slowly. When I started to read, I saw a round object spinning in the book; at that time, I did not know it was a Falun [Law Wheel]. I also saw many magnificent scenes from other dimensions. From then on, my body felt much relieved and my eyesight became clear.

On the fifth day after I started reading Zhuan Falun, I, who at one time had no ability to take care of myself, got out of my bed and washed clothes by myself. It was amazing! I did not have to spend a penny; I did not need to take one medical injection or medicine pill; with one book of black words on white paper and with five simple sets of exercise movements, my uremia, which was declared incurable by modern medicine, was healed.

If I did not have the experience myself, it would be difficult for me to believe Falun Gong's wonderful healing effect. I would probably still be deceived by the lies spread by the TV and newspapers.

Since I obtained the Fa and started to practice Falun Gong, I have not taken any medicine and have not taken any medical injection for over a year. I have persistently studied the teachings of Falun Dafa and practiced the exercises every day without interruptions. I have totally regained the health of a normal person.

Through reading the book and learning Falun Dafa, I came to realize that Falun Gong is not for treating illnesses only; Falun Gong teaches people to cultivate their mind and heart according to the principles of "Truthfulness-Benevolence-Tolerance," and to be good people. Falun Gong does not get involved with politics and is not against any government. Dafa practitioners hand out flyers and tell people the facts of Falun Gong so that people will not be deceived by the lies spread by the TV and newspapers; they do it so that people will have an objective and proper understanding of Falun Gong.

Please realize that if it had not been for Dafa practitioners telling me, "Falun Dafa is good!" the life of a person like me with an incurable illness may have already been snatched away by the illness and by the lies! Therefore, I will use my life, which has been extended by Falun Dafa, to tell all people, "Falun Dafa is Good!" and, "Falun Dafa is the Righteous Fa [Law and principles]!"

(Clearwidsom.net) My family name is Wang. I live in Qianjin Street, Ningjiang District, Jilin Province. I have been practicing Falun Gong for seven years and have benefited a lot. Teacher and Dafa have saved my life and given me my second chance to live.

Before I practiced Falun Gong, I suffered from several severe diseases such as: liver ailments, cholelithiasis (gall stones), rheumatoid arthritis, neuropathy, etc. Even something as quiet as a clock ticking would cause me to not be able to fall asleep. When my hemorrhoids flared up, I would start hemorrhaging. Every summer, it felt like I was being pricked by countless needles. It was so bad that I could not sit or lie down easily. I dreaded the summer. Every Spring and Fall, my chest would burn. It felt like thousands of needles were scratching up and down my back. The pain was so severe that I was almost paralyzed. I was barely able to cook or do anything around the house. Because I had been taking all kinds of medications for a long time, my teeth were loose. I was suffering so much from pain and illness that I had a very bad temper. At the end of 1987, when my child was only three years old, I was diagnosed to have malignant breast cancer and I had to get a mastectomy. After the surgery, I could barely lift my arms up high enough to reach my mouth to feed myself. At that time many doctors thought that I could only survive at maximum another two or three years.

During those years, I spent most of my time and savings trying to treat my illnesses. I practiced many different types of qigong, hoping one would cure me, but all of my efforts were in vain.

In 1996, I was diagnosed with a thyroid as big as an egg yolk, and my hyperthyroidism had recurred. I needed another surgery and more chemotherapy. At that same time my husband began an affair with another woman and then divorced me. I was dying, and my two children were left alone with me; we struggled very hard to survive. It looked like the end of the world. My health was spiraling downward dramatically. It was then, in 1997, when I was on the verge of total collapse, that I started to practice Falun Gong. Ever since I started, many amazing things have happened to me. My health improved day by day. Many of my diseases disappeared and my tumors disappeared also. I deeply sensed the joy of finally living without any illness. I became very energetic; now I can walk long distances without feeling any fatigue at all. I can easily lift both arms, even the one on the side of my mastectomy. I can perform all kinds of manual labor. When it is time to change the gas cylinder in my kitchen, I can easily carry the heavy tank up the stairs. Everyone around me can see that I am a totally changed person.

After learning the practice of Falun Gong, I not only got cured of all my illnesses, I also began to understand the true meaning of life. My way of thinking has improved, and I have learned to be a better person. I keep the concept of being considerate and benevolent towards other people in the front of my mind at all times, and conduct my self according to the words Teacher has taught us: Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance).

The hatred I held in my heart towards my ex-husband is gone, so now I can take care of his ninety-year-old father without complaint.

I am healthy and energetic now. I thank Teacher and Dafa from the bottom of my heart for saving my life. I am also thankful for Teacher's mercy to give me the blessing to practice Falun Dafa and showing me the way of returning to my original, true self.

Ms. Zhong Bo is a Falun Dafa practitioner from Anda City, Heilongjiang Province. On February 26, 2004, she was arrested after being denounced by informants while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in Yangcao Town, Anda City. On March 3, Ms. Zhong was unlawfully sentenced to two years of forced labor and is currently being held in the Shuanghe Forced Labor Camp in Qiqihar City. Prior to this, she had already been arrested three times. In May 2002, after she was arrested and brutally beaten, she jumped out of a second floor window in an attempt to escape and was severely injured. She has since fully recovered by persevering in practicing Falun Dafa.

Ms. Yu Xiaohua is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Anda City. On February 25, 2004, she was clarifying the truth in Anda City when informants turned her in to the police. Guo Zhiyun, who was with her was also arrested. The Guo family was forced to pay 10,000 Yuan in bail in addition to 50 Yuan per day for meals. Guo was released in the beginning of March. [The average monthly income of an urban worker is 500 yuan.]

Mr. Sheng Yanjun is from Zhongben Town in Anda City. He was arrested in February and his whereabouts are unknown.

Just after 6:00 p.m. on March 7, 2004, officers from the Chaoyang Branch Police Department in Changchun City, from the Jianshe Square Police Station, and members of the Security Division at Northeastern Normal University broke into the dormitory room of Ms. Wang Hui, a young lecturer at the Urban Development and Environmental Science Institute of the university. Ms. Wang was unlawfully arrested and taken to an undisclosed location.

Ms. Wang Shuqin, who is in her sixties, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Wangqing County, Jilin Province. She was turned in to the police while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials and arrested on February 20, 2004. Wang was very weak and could hardly stand up on her own. Still, the Wangqing County "610 Office" unlawfully sentenced her to one and a half years of forced labor. She was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun for further abuse.

Around 10:00 a.m. on March 5, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners Ms. Fu Guiqin and Ms. Zhao Xiuyun went to visit a friend. They were followed and taken into custody by officers from the county police department. The two officers conducted body searches and ransacked their residences without a search warrant. The officers did not find any evidence during the searches. The two practitioners were first placed in 24-hour detention and were then unreasonably held in administrative detention. They are being held in the county detention center. Their families demanded a review of the administrative detention procedure, but were rudely rejected. The police failed to notify the families in the time dictated by law, and also denied the family members their rights to visit the practitioners.

Ms. Gao Zonghua, is a retiree in her sixties from the Hefei Forklift Factory. Around March 7, 2004, she was arrested while distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in Dongqu, Hefei City.

Patrolling officers of the Wafangdian Police Department arrested Ms. Sun Yuanqin, who is about 41 years old, on January 24, 2004.

Mr. Su Changlin, 42, is a Falun Dafa practitioner of Commune No. 8 in Suxiang Village, Erdao Township, Fengman District, Jilin City. Around 7:00 p.m. on February 16, 2004, he was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong near the Changchun Road Police Station, when a misguided person called the police. As a result, officers from the Changchun Road Police Station took him into custody. Mr. Su was later transferred to an underground cell in the Chuanying Branch Police Department, where several officers beat him cruelly. Due to the police brutality, his face was bruised and swollen. He was subsequently sent to the Jilin City Detention Center No. 3.

Mr. Yang Xiaochen, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in his fifties in Jilin City. On February 24, 2004, he was unlawfully arrested by the Beishan Police Station in Chuanying District, Jilin City. He is currently being held in the Jilin City Detention Center.

On the morning of March 8, police arrested Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Nie Hongli at her home. She was sent to the Zhangjiatun Brainwashing Center in Jiaozhou City on the same afternoon. Ms. Hu Yuyuan is a Falun Dafa practitioner in the Heavy Duty Machinery Factory in Taihe District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province. She and her mother, Gao Shuyuan, took the train to Beijing to spend the Spring Festival season with Hu's elder sister. Informants turned them in to the police as they explained to passengers the facts about the persecution of Falun Gong. They were both arrested in Tianjin Railroad Station and subsequently sent to the Jinzhou City No. 1 Detention Center by officers from the Nu'erhe Police Station and the Taihe Branch Police Department in Jinzhou City. Ms. Hu was transferred to the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp at noon on February 20, 2004.

In addition, on February 15, 2004, three Falun Dafa practitioners and five other villagers from Wanghutai Village, Nu'erhe Township, Taihe District, Jinzhou City were arrested while watching video taped lectures by Falun Gong's founder in Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Jin Yuzhen's home. Among the eight people arrested, three villagers, Chen Xiujuan, Liu Chunming, and Han Guojun, have been released while the others remain in custody at the Jinzhou City Detention Center No. 1. They are practitioners Jin Yuzhen, Wang Dehua and Wang Xiaoming, as well as villagers Zhang Shaoshan and Di Baokui. After the incident, party cadres from Wanghutai Village took measures to rescue those under arrest. Around 2:00 p.m. on March 9, 2004, officers from the Lianshan District Police Station in Huludao City grabbed the keys in Ms. Zhuang Shiyu's son's belt and broke into her home. The officers unlawfully arrested Ms. Zhuang, her husband Ren Bao, and her son Ren Yiqiu. Chi Fengzhen, Zhang Haimin and other Falun Dafa practitioners who were also present, were also arrested.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ma Minghai was the former assistant of the Xianyang Falun Gong practice site in Shaanxi Province. Since July 20, 1999, Ma was singled out for constant harassment. After the crimes against humanity perpetrated by members of the Xianyang "610 Office" were exposed on the Internet, they constantly pressured Ma in order to find out how these facts were exposed.

Mr. Shi Zenglei, born in 1956, was an employee of the Mengyin County Fodder Company until he was laid off. On February 24, 2004, he was unlawfully detained on non-criminal charges. His wife, who makes a living by operating a small retail business, supports a teenaged child and Mr. Shi's mother, who is in her 80's.

On September 20, 2002 and October 29, 2002, the police sabotaged two Falun Gong material production sites. Falun Dafa practitioners Teng Derong, Gong Maohai, Gong Shuhua, Wu Zengjian, Shi Zenglei and others were unlawfully placed under arrest.

On March 28, 2003, the following Falun Dafa practitioners were put on trial in Mengyin County after having been held in custody for over six months: Gong Maohai was unlawfully sentenced to fourteen years in prison; Teng Derong, to fourteen years; Gong Shuhua, to thirteen years; Wu Zengjian, to thirteen years; Shi Zenglei, to eleven years.

Falun Dafa practitioner Shi Zenglei is currently being held in the Mengyin County Forced Labor Camp. His life has been endangered due to torture.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Fang Caixia from Dalian City, Liaoning Province was sentenced to three years of forced labor and has been held in the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for posting signs of "Falun Dafa Is Good" at the end of December 2000. During this period, she suffered from all kinds of torture and abuse. She was forced to be divorced from her husband but she remained steadfast in resisting the pressure to renounce Falun Gong. She remains in custody although her original unlawful forced labor term expired months ago.

Just after 10:00 a.m. on February 27, Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Zhang Chengzhen from Yongxing Town, Suining City, Sichuan Province was arrested at her home. Also arrested was Ms. Lu Yanfen who happened to be visiting. Ms. Lu had spent over four years in custody and was just released the day before from a brainwashing facility. Thus, within less than 24 hours, she found herself in custody again. On February 17, Falun Dafa practitioner Yan Xuebi who lives on Yanshi Street in Suining City was placed under arrest.

On January 7, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Huang Xiaobo was unlawfully arrested. Huang managed to escape with the help of righteous thoughts. On the evening of January 28, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioners Zheng Jun from Xinyang City, Henan Province, who was working odd jobs in Shanghai, was arrested while distributing leaflets. Zheng has been taken back to Xinyang City. Falun Dafa practitioner Liu Zonglan was arrested while distributing leaflets in the suburbs in February 2004. Falun Dafa practitioner Hu Jinhui (a teacher in the Xinyang City Middle School No. 10) was arrested on March 3, 2004 for making phone calls to Falun Dafa practitioners in the suburbs. Hu's home was ransacked.

Around 10:00 p.m. on March 5, 2004, two female Falun Dafa practitioners were arrested in Huangnitang Town, Qiyang County, Hunan Province while distributing truth-clarifying leaflets on the streets. One of the practitioners was identified as Ms. He Qunyang, who is in her forties. Ms. He's home is known to have been ransacked.

Ms. Wu Lixian is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Wanghua District, Fushun City, Liaoning Province. At 7:00 a.m. on March 10, officers arrived at her home in four police vehicles, took her into custody and sent her to a brainwashing facility.

On March 2, 2004, officers from the Weixing Road Police Station arrested Mr. Hu Yunpeng and his brother-in-law at their rented home.

According to insiders, informants notified the police after spotting them distributing Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials on Weixing Road. The Changchun City Police Department immediately ordered the local police station to carry out the arrests. On the evening of March 2, officers broke in, brutally beat them, and ransacked their home. They confiscated Falun Dafa books and materials, as well as over 2,000 yuan in cash. Even their landlord was extorted out of 1,000 yuan. (1)

In early March, Chibi City police arrested several Falun Dafa practitioners for no apparent reason. Those arrested include: Huang Cenxiu, Huang Lianqing, He Yulin, Xu Wenming and Zhou Guoqiang. Among them, Xu Wenming is from Shenshan Town in Chibi City. Xu was held in the No. 1 Detention Center for nine months in 2000, and later transferred to the Shizishan Forced Labor Camp to serve a one-and-a-half year term. Xu was put on medical parole due to poor health resulting from severe abuse endured in both the detention center and the forced labor camp, but was placed under arrest again. Zhou Guoqiang went on a hunger strike for eleven days and managed to escape on March 16, 2004.

Ms. Jin Yuzhen is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Nu'erhe Township, in the Taihe District of Jinzhou City. On March 9, 2004, she was sent from the Jinzhou City No. 1 Detention Center to Masanjia Forced Labor Camp for a three-year term.

In addition, Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Xiaomin is on a hunger strike in the Jinzhou City No. 1 Detention Center. Wang's life is in imminent danger.

Around February 20, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Guo Qinghua, a teacher at Babaixiang Elementary School in Daqing City, was unlawfully arrested while clarifying the truth at a supermarket in the Ranghulu District of Daqing City.

On March 16, 2004, Falun Dafa practitioner Wang Junmei, from Pingdu City, was turned in to the police while clarifying the truth to the public. The Laizhou City Police Department arrested her and held her in Laizhou City Detention Center. Police confiscated the truth-clarifying CDs, self-adhesive tape and 2,000 yuan in cash that Wang was carrying.

On March 19, officers arriving in four police vehicles besieged Falun Dafa practitioner Zhong Shuhua at her home in Changle Town, Pingdu City. Ms. Zhong was unlawfully placed under arrest and her home ransacked. The police confiscated a tape recorder, a VCD player, over 800 unused cassette tapes and other materials.

At around 3:30 p.m. on March 19, 2004, police shut down the Xintangren Cooked Food Products Company on Hubuxiang Alley in the Wuchang District of Wuhan City. They smashed a company plaque and took all of the employees into custody, including Falun Dafa practitioners Zhu and Jiang, according to reports.

Ms. Linghu Dayong is a retired employee of the Majing Town Health Facility in Shifang City. Around March 4, 2004, town government official Pan tricked her into meeting him but then forcibly detained her in the brainwashing program at in Hexing Town, Guanghan City. When her family demanded an official explanation, the officials dodged responsibility. Another Falun Dafa practitioner, Tang Changyuan from Group 9 Village 9 of Majing Town, who had been arrested significantly earlier, was held in the same brainwashing program.

On March 10, 2004, police took Li Xiantao, Wang Suoxian, Yu Lantao and other Falun Dafa practitioners in the Dongxihu District of Wuhan City to a brainwashing center located in the Sandian Employee's School in Dongxihu District. Police dragged Li from the fourth floor all the way down. Her hands and bare feet were bleeding badly. The police put a pair of shoes on her only after condemnation from the crowd who witnessed the brutality. Li was shouting, "Falun Dafa is good" and "Falun Dafa is the righteous law" while the officers were throwing her into the car. According to an eyewitness account, the officers appeared to be drunk while making the arrest.

Ms. Zheng Sixiang is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Dehui City. On March 6, 2002, she was unlawfully arrested in the Nanguan District of Changchun City and sentenced to two years at Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City. In the forced labor camp, she maintained righteous thoughts and carried out righteous deeds, refusing to write the "five statements" (3). When her sentence had been served, she was taken directly to brainwashing facility in Changchun City, created for the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Sending her there was a joint decision made by officials of the Dehui City Agriculture Bureau, Dehui City Police Department, Dehui City "610 Office" and the Heizuizi Forced Labor Camp in Changchun City.

Mr. Zhang Zhimin, in his forties, is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Huangshi City. He is a former employee of an organization within the Huangshi City Metallurgy and Steel Company. The Xisaishan Branch Police Department in Huangshi City frequently persecuted Mr. Zhang for practicing Falun Dafa. To avoid the persecution, he had been forced to stay away from his home since 2002. On April 8, 2003, he was arrested in Huangshi City. He was severely injured and was unable to take care of himself due to injuries incurred from police brutality. He remains in custody at the Huangshi City No. 1 Detention Center.

Mr. Li Zheng is a Falun Dafa practitioner in Huangshi City, who the local police continually persecuted for his belief in Truthfulness-Benevolence-Forbearance. He has been sentenced to four years of forced labor after being arrested in another town. (He had been forced to leave home in 2002 to avoid persecution.) Mr. Li is currently held in Qinduankou Prison in Hangyang City, Hubei Province. His physical condition has deteriorated as a result of his collapsed lung. Mr. Li's wife, Wu Chunxia, has also been enduring persecution since not long after the wedding. She has to stay away from home in order to avoid arrest. She could not even return home when giving birth to a child, who is currently being looked after by Wu's father. Ms. Wu since has since been arrested and sentenced to four years of forced labor. She is being held in Subdivision 1 (Women's Clothes Factory) of Ward 4, at Wuhan City Women's Prison.

On March 3, 2004, without presenting any legal documentation, police officers ransacked Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Haihua's home. Even Wang's neighbor's home was searched. Officers involved in the search were Shen Jingzhu, Jin Haisong, Jin Zhenshan, Gao Bo, Wang Yuling (female) and Zhu Mingkui, all from the Antu County State Security Brigade in Jilin Province. At 8:00 a.m. on March 4, 2004, these officers arrested Ms. Wang at the car wash where she worked. They dragged her into a car and handcuffed her. Jin Haisong kicked and hit her about the face and chest. Upon arrival at the State Security Brigade, Shen Jingzhu grabbed Ms. Wang's head and smashed it against the wall. Ms. Wang was forced to remain standing in a fixed position all night. Officers kicked her when she did not stand up straight. She was held in the detention center for the fifteen days that followed. She was interrogated from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on March 13, and held in isolation for several days.

In February 2004, the police and members of the "610 Office" arrested Ma Jianrong, He Milan, Si Bing, Li Qiong and other Falun Dafa practitioners in Guangzhou City. He Milan was carried out of the house by four thugs and taken to a brainwashing center in the Zhuhai District of Guangzhou City. It has been learned that Si Bin is being held at the brainwashing center, and that Xie Yan and Li Qiong are being held at the Tianhe District Brainwashing Center. Other practitioners' whereabouts are unknown.

Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Xu Hui, 32, is an employee of the No. 2 Zengdu District Properties Branch Bureau in Suizhou City, Hubei Province. On March 15, 2004, Ms. Wang Lin of the city's "610 Office" and Huang Zhiyong led the local police in abducting Ms. Xu from her workplace and forcing her into the Wuhan Brainwashing program.

Falun Dafa practitioner Li Peirui, 51, lives in Erdao District, Changchun City. At 4:00 a.m. on March 4, 2004, Li was arrested at home.

(Clearwisdom.net) A "solemn declaration" is a person's public statement declaring to the world that whatever he or she has done or said under duress or deception that was against Falun Dafa is null and void. Most of these statements have come from Falun Dafa practitioners in China who wished to express regret that, in the face of physical torture and brainwashing, they had signed documents renouncing Dafa and guaranteeing not to practice again. Also, as more and more people in China learn the truth about how they have been deceived and lied to by the Jiang regime, many non-practitioners are also submitting "solemn declarations."

I am now 12 years old. When I was 4 years old, my Dad and Mom started to teach me how to behave according to "Truthfulness, Compassion, Tolerance" and become a nice kid. However, Jiang Zemin started persecuting Dafa in 1999. Because my Dad and Mom were not home and, nobody told me the truth. I believed those evil lies and thought ill of Teacher and Dafa, also I misunderstood my Dad and Mom, and said many bad words about them. In addition, when I was a 1^st grader in elementary school and led by our school teacher, I signed my name on the cloth which was used to collect people's signatures to oppose Dafa. I didn't know what it was when I signed it. Now, after my Dad and Mom read through Zhuan Falun with me and we together watched many clarifying-truth CDs, I realized that Jiang Zemin is evil to persecute Falun Dafa. He has hurt very much young children's hearts, especially someone like me, who is unable to tell right and wrong. Here, I declare solemnly that my signature and any action I have taken or done which has created a disservice to Teacher and Dafa are null and void. Furthermore, I will redouble my effort to study the Fa well, to practice the exercises well. And I will clarify the truth, letting people who don't know the truth, know the significance and holiness of Dafa. I will strive to become a young Dafa practitioner up to standard, thanking Teacher for his compassion and saving people.

When I was in 6^th grade at elementary school, our teachers and the principal of the school put much pressure on me to say I would not practice Falun Gong. At the time because I was muddleheaded, I said "I will not practice." I have let Teacher down and have done a disservice to Dafa. Now I declare what I said is null and void.

I am ten years old this year. On July 20, 1999, when the evil persecuted Dafa, our school organized a movement to collect signatures to oppose Dafa. I was then a 1^st grader and, knowing nothing about the signature, signed my name, having done damage to Dafa unwittingly. Here I declare: all the words and actions of mine, which have done disservice to Dafa, are null and void. I will make up for the loss I caused to Dafa by clarifying the truth to save the sentient beings and become a young Dafa practitioner.

I am a young Dafa practitioner. In October of 2002, I wrote a "guarantee letter" under the pressure of our schoolteacher. I declare solemnly here what I had written are completely null and void. I will practice Dafa with a firm heart and redouble my effort to make up for the loss I caused to Dafa.

I've taken the long way in the journey of Fa-rectification. Because of my lack of understanding of the principles, because of my lack of strong righteous thoughts, and because of my desire to complete tasks, the police arrested me and sent me to the detention center four times, and fined me three times in the last couple of years. They illegally sentenced me to a forced labor camp twice. In August 2002, I was giving out materials clarifying the truth of Falun Gong when the police arrested me. They brutally beat me with electric batons and demanded to know where I had gotten the materials. My heart was very righteous at that moment, and I think Teacher took the burden for me, so they didn't get the information they wanted. They sentenced me to two years in a forced labor camp because I wouldn't give up my faith, and then they continued to persecute me. In the forced labor camp practitioners are persecuted using secretive and poisonous methods. The guards pretend to be kind but then deprive us of sleep and forcefully brainwash us. Those former Falun Gong practitioners who have turned against Dafa due to brainwashing and torture, and enlightened along an evil path, would expound on deviant principles here and there. Because I still had a lot of human notions and demonic interference in my own mind, I felt that I was very steadfast toward Dafa. But I slowly began to feel that those who had enlightened along the evil path had some good points. In time I went over to their side. I wrote the "Three Statements" renouncing Falun Dafa and did what a practitioner should not do. I followed the wrong path, and I didn't know that I was going against Dafa. Then, through Teacher's compassionate hints, fellow practitioners' kind help, and my earnest reading of the Falun Dafa principles and scriptures, I was able to return to Falun Dafa in January 2004. I awoke from the nightmare and sincerely regretted what I had done. I realized that I had been wrong; I had let the evil take advantage of me and betrayed Dafa. I solemnly declare that I denounce the persecutors' brainwashing. The things I said and wrote during the brainwashing sessions are null and void. I will do my best to expose the crimes committed against practitioners and rectify myself. I will refuse the old forces' arrangements, eliminate the evils with my righteous thoughts, let go of my attachment to my selfish heart, and genuinely understand the Fa from the standpoint of the Fa. I will follow the pace of Fa-rectification and accept Teacher's compassionate salvation. I want to thank Teacher for his great compassion and salvation. I will do the three things correctly (send forth righteous thoughts, clarify the truth, and study the principles) and compensate for the damage I've committed against Dafa.

After July 20, 1999 I focused on one thought: to say "a few words of justice for Teacher and Dafa." In 2000, I was severely tested by the evil. My company fired me and my husband kicked me out. Because of my shallow understanding of Dafa, I didn't know how to handle these situations and just accepted them passively. I faced a lot of contradictions during that time. Why did I always fall down? When my persecutors asked me critical questions, why did I cloud the issues with rhetoric? Today, as a result of Teacher's compassionate hints, I have found the poisonous root that was deeply hidden: it was the fact that I couldn't let go of myself. I don't know how to explain the feeling I had when I thought about my unconscious weighing of Dafa and Fa-rectification against my selfish heart. I felt glad even though it's a bit late. I will dedicate myself to Fa-rectification. I will do the three things correctly to compensate for my mistakes. I hereby declare null and void all the rhetoric I used when being pressured by the professional persecutors and all the guarantees and acts that my family wrote and committed that are against Dafa.

1) Falun Gong practitioner Cheng Ke, female, is seventy-three years old and is a retired official in Tianjin City. On April 23, 1999, Cheng Ke went to Tianjin Education Institute to tell the facts that she has benefited physically and spiritually from practicing Falun Gong and was beaten by the police. A journalist from Hong Kong called her to ask for information about this event, and Cheng Ke was thus detained on the fabricated charge of "disclosing State secrets." After she was released, again she went to appeal, and again she was arrested. She was beaten many times during her detention. The police kicked her ankle and smashed her bones, causing her toenails to fall off. During forced labor, she was thrown down and her leg was broken. Later on she was released for medical treatment. On December 22, 2003, the local police and the detention center staff broke into her home again. They dragged her into a police car and sent her to Jianxin Female Labor Camp.

2) On October 15, 2003, the police kidnapped five Falun Gong practitioners from Xinjin City, Sichuan Province. The practitioners suffered from inhuman tortures. Later three practitioners were sentenced to "re-education through forced labor." Among them was Luo Qiong, who was sentenced to one-and-half years of forced labor and was sent to Nanmusi Female Labor Education Center in Zizhong City, Sichuan Province. Two other Falun Gong practitioners who were nearly seventy years old were each sentenced to one year of forced labor, and served their sentence at home. Wang Xiang was forced to leave home to avoid arrest after escaping from the detention center.

3) Falun Gong practitioner Li Lianyi from Huadu County, Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province was kidnapped at the beginning of the year for spreading truth-clarification materials. He was illegally sentenced to two years of forced labor. Currently he is detained at the First Labor Education Center at Chini, Huadu County. His wife, Zhao Wei, was arrested during the People's Representative Conference and the Party Conference this year and was detained in the Huadu Timian Drug Rehabilitation Center. Other practitioners detained at Huadu Timian Drug Rehabilitation Center Brainwashing Class during the conferences include: Zhang Maoying, Chen Liping, and Feng Enyan.

4) My name is Zhao Manru. I am a female Falun Gong practitioner. I am sixty-three years old and a retired worker from Kailuan Machinery Factory in Tangshan City, Hebei Province. My three sisters and I were arrested, detained and interrogated, our home was searched, we were sent to labor camps, we were closely monitored, and we were fined, all for practicing Falun Gong. My family was under a lot of pressure. On December 30, 2002, Zhao Yingqi, my brother-in-law, was inhumanly killed by policemen at Hehuakeng Labor Education Center. My mother could no longer cope with the pressure, and she passed away on February 4, 2003.

5) On February 27, 2004, Falun Gong practitioner Cui Bingjin from Nanliquan Village of Kenli Town, Kenli County, Dongying City, Shandong Province was ambushed by hidden police while he was taking down a cartoon poster that slandered Falun Gong. Around March 10 he was sentenced to three years of forced labor. Currently he is detained at Wang Village Labor Education Center.

6) Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Liu Haixiong, thirty years old, was a worker at Changqing Oil Field Maling Oil Refinery Factory. In 2001 he was arrested for going to Beijing to validate Dafa. Later he was sent to Lanzhou (capital city of Gansu Province) for one-and-a-half years of forced labor. He was rendered unable to walk due to torture. After he was released, the factory did not let him to go to work and did not allow him to live in the apartment building of the factory. His whole family was forced to leave home in order to avoid the persecution. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Yongduo, fifty-eight years old, was a worker at Qingyang Area Second Oil Excavation Factory. He was kidnapped in 2001 and was severely tortured. Later he was sent to Ningxia Detention Center in Gansu Province for one year of persecution, and was sentenced to eight years in prison. Later he was sent to Lanzhou City where he was persecuted for half a year. Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Yulin, twenty-eight years old, was an administrator at the Second Oil Excavation Factory Taiche Team. In 2001 he was kidnapped in Ningxia City for clarifying the truth. He was severely and inhumanly beaten. Later on he was sent to Ningxia Detention Center where he was sentenced to eight years in prison. He was tortured to death within a year.

7) Falun Gong practitioners Liu Bogang and Li Weiling are employees at the Second Electricity Factory of Fulaerji General Electricity Plant in Qiqihar City. At the end of 2000 they were kidnapped for clarifying the truth about Falun Gong, and were sent to a labor camp. In July 2002 after they were released the factory forbade them from going to work and set up a brainwashing class at the Department of Security in the factory. They were forced to go to the brainwashing class. Their monthly income decreased from over 1,000 Yuan to 170 Yuan [500 Yuan is the average monthly income for an urban worker in China]. At the end of 2003, having not given up their beliefs, they were dismissed from the factory.

8) On July 17, 2001, Lu Tieli, head of Changtu County Police Station of Tieling City, Liaoning Province gathered a team of villains and broke into Falun Gong practitioner Zhao Qingzhuo's home. They knocked him to the floor, covered his mouth, and pushed and dragged him to the courtyard. His seventeen-year-old daughter was dragged out of bed and was carried out of the room. Zhao Qingzhuo resisted, but they beat him viciously. His whole face was covered in blood as a result. They forced him into their car and stepped on his head. His daughter's mouth was tightly covered. She could barely breathe and could not move.
