While people were immersed in the joyful celebration of the Chinese New Year, Hebei Yongnian County Public Security Police frantically tracked down and arrested Falun Gong practitioners who believe in "Truthfulness -- Compassion -- Forbearance." This action stirred up the whole county and caused anxiety and panic in the community neighborhoods. Police mass arrested many practitioners, while many practitioners had to abandon their homes during the holidays so as to avoid further persecution.

At 7 p.m. on January 28, 2004, the local public security police led by Chen Jushan, kidnapped Mr. Cheng Peiju from Mingguan North East Street and his eldest son Cheng Fengxiang. Mr. Cheng's two other sons and daughter-in-law, who are not practitioners were also taken away by force.

At 11 p.m. on the night of January 29, 2004, led by police detective Zhao Jun, the local policemen pried open the anti-theft door and broke into the house of practitioner Mr. Lu Zhonghai and illegally arrested him. Mr. Lu was an independent vendor selling home-cooked foods at Mingguan's South River Street.

On the afternoon of January 29, 2004, Li Ming of the police No. 3 team led several men to search Mr. Zhao Chuanjie's house at Xubo Village's River East Qigancun. On the night of the 31st, the police from No. 7 team and personnel from Xubo local police station climbed over the stone fence and broke down the door to falsely arrest Mr. Zhao and his wife, Ms. Lu Lifin, who also practices Falun Dafa. They were not even allowed to change into proper clothes. The violent acts of the police caused panic in the neighborhood and a big commotion on the street.

Two days before the Chinese New Year, county public officials Chen Jushan and Yu Kaohui, along with Mingguan policeman Zhang Xianqu tried to seize Mr. Li Zhenzhong. On the eve of the Chinese New Year they went to his house at North West Street to wait for him. They waited the whole night but without success. Instead, they abducted his wife, Ms. Ma Xiaofen a week later.

Beishe village practitioner Mr. Yu Wenshen was also taken away by the police.

On the night of January 31, 2004, the police from Detective No. 5 team climbed over the brick fence and broke into the home of Yangcun village practitioner Mr. Bao Yinqiang. They forced him to go with them by carrying him to the police car.

Around January 31, county police Detective No.3 team and Liuying police station broke into Mr.Hu Jinshe's house by climbing over the fence. Searching for Falun Dafa materials, the police cut open and ruined the bed mattress and body-searched Mrs. Hu.

Meanwhile, around the same period of time, police went to search Mr. Li Jianming's house. Mr. Li was a clerk at a gift shop but he had to go into hiding to avoid the harassment.

The police also went to search Mr. Han Xueli's home. Mr. Han was a worker at a quilt warehouse. He was forced to leave town in order to escape the persecution.

In the early evening on February 3, the police used force to arrest Ms. Jin Guihua, a post office worker.

Recently, a practitioner over 60 years old (name to be verified) was arrested by police.

The persecution is still occurring. We ask people with a kind heart and sense of justice to pay close attention to events like these. Please also help collect evidence and the information of those involved. The information will be forwarded to the World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG) for further verification and to bring the evildoers to justice.

Dafa practitioners sacrifice their lives to awaken the conscience of the people in the world. We hope all those with a sense of justice will offer a helping hand to stop this persecution of truth, compassion, and forbearance.
